iris66 · 01/07/2009 10:05

morning all

I'm just about to hang old CD's over my sprout & broccoli plants (thanks Bonzo) and it's back to boiling weather again here after yesterday's rainy reprieve (and my cankles have only just gone down too sigh) jw* - I can understand your reluctance to go out but hope you do - sounds like you really deserve it if you've not been out for so long

Tee - glad Adam's sleeping so well and that you're getting such fab support from your mum. Hope she feels better today though - sounds very painful.

jj - enjoy your day out

Hope everyone else who's pregnant manages to keep cool today. I'm off for a consultant appointmant later (considering asking for induction )

have a good one all

heron22 · 01/07/2009 10:31

morning all! hope everyone slept well.

tee how is Adam liking his amby? my LO loves it. thing is he is so tall and big that i dont think he can use it until he is 1. i was hoping he will be able to use it till he is 1. ah well..

mrsboogie · 01/07/2009 11:17

i think we are going to have to do a swap tee D was up for a bottle at 2am and again at 6am! It's not faaaiirrrrr!! Your mum is great - is she the blond woman on your pics? she looks very youthful!

heron I have same problem with the Amby D is still in it and last night his head was wedged up at the top end and his little feet were resting, crossed at the enkles, on top of the fabric bit at the bottom end It looked very sweet, like he was lying in a proper hammock but there is no room for him to get any bigger. Its about one inch off the ground too when he is in it.

jw hope you both enjoy soft play, she'll soon get used to it all,

jj enjoy your day out

iris66 · 01/07/2009 11:28

mrsb - what a hideous night Hopefully as he gets more active (and the weather cools)it'll improve [fingerscrossed for you emoticon] .

johnworf · 01/07/2009 11:46

Bloody hell mrsb. How on earth you managing on those hours and working too? Is he waking up because he's really thirsty/hungry or is something other?

Well just got back from softplay and we sort of enjoyed it. K seems to enjoy her little self but obviously as we're newbies, we're not in the clique. There's a group of mums (and this is a very small group of no more than 12 in a small room) that all know each other and sit there gassing while the babies play. Totally ignoring everyone else. There's a Polish lady that started chatting to me - I think mostly out of boredom as no one else would be bothered with her. As it was so warm a lot of the mums took their babies outside half way through the session but I chose to stay indoors where the fan was Sat there listening to a pontificating first time mother about how many pushes/hours/ounces/developmental milestones her baby was at. zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz Crashing bore. Mind you, her little group of followers waiting on every breath. I've decided I don't like her already The politics of play group eh? I'm still gonna turn up and K enjoys it but I'm not there for any social intercourse myself.

You'll all be pleased to know that the Magnum diet is going really well

mrsb did you get your washing machine sorted out?

bonzo did you get your freezer sorted out?

Sorry if I forgot anyone elses white goods

iris hows the cankles coming along? Hope you get your induction request!

Right, off to sort out the washing whilst madam is snoozing.

hello, MrsB how awful O stll wakes at 2 or 3 most nights, but I don't feed him genrally a hug or bringing him into bed will settle him back to sleep.

JW sounds like you had an interesting time . Soft Play should be a nice experiance for K she can't do at home, so it's probably worth sticing with for a bit.

O is on another food strike today, I think it must still be teeth they will be through some time soon surely.

well done A on the mega sleeping, Tee I too am [envy}

mrsboogie · 01/07/2009 12:26

I think I am used to it. Four hours skleep and I don't even feel that tired. He is just hungry, drinks a full bottle and goes straight back to sleep. Last night was a bit worse than usual as I had gone to bed after midnight thinking he would wake for one then. He didn't and as I had just dropped off around twoish he woke up. Then again at 6. It's maybe not as bad as it sounds because its just a question of hauling him out of the Amby, making the bottle up and plonking him between us while one or other of us holds the bottle. He drinks it all down to the end then back in the Amby almost asleep.

Nearly ten months now and he hasn't really moved that far from his newborn feeding pattern. I have tried it all. I KNOW tee is going to be coming on here soon telling us about A sleeping through and D will still be up guzzling milk half the night!!

heron22 · 01/07/2009 14:46

mrsb so are you going to move your LO to a bed? looks like i will be ebaying the amby sooner than expected! amazing how you get by on so little sleep!

today is 3rd day of weaning and we tried carrots. hmmm, LO did not think much of it. in fact he made such a face! it was hilarious.

i used my beaba babycook and it was so easy to steam the carrots and puree it. can really recommend it to all mums who want to make homemade puree and babyfoods.

LO is crying at the mo, it is so hot today!

Tee2072 · 01/07/2009 14:58

Hi all

Adam slept all that time last night and has been sleeping most of the day. I'm sort of dreading tonight...

Also made my first half panicked call to the GP as his nappy was full of bright green poo and some mucus. I could practically hear the GP's subtext of 'oh great, another worry wart mother' but he was very nice about it to my face. Only need to worry if it lasts through the weekend! So I'll be on poo watch. No one told me how glamorous motherhood was!!

heron he loves his amby. But he will pretty much sleep anywhere, we had him in his pram for a bit yesterday, just in our lounge, and he snoozed away. But I think he does prefer the Amby.

mrsb I don't know how you do it either, although my Sister has been doing it for 5 years. Her twins still don't sleep for more than about 5 hours a night. I am so grateful that Adam is a sleeper!

JW glad K sort of liked soft play. I am dreading the clique factor of places like that. I hated in high school, why would I like it now?

mrsboogie · 01/07/2009 15:17

yup we have a cot all lined up and ready to go - he has slept briefly in it a couple of times but he has to be knackered. I reckon we will be ebaying the Amby soon too.

tee haha you just reminded me of when D did the same green nappy thing - "eeek what's this now??" I just came on here and was reassured it was normal, I think jw had already mentioned K doing it. The collective wisdom of MN is always my first port of call!!

but you can expect to have many conversations about poo from now on and be confronted by many different varieties of the stuff

johnworf · 01/07/2009 15:35

Aye, we've had the worry of the green poo I remember coming on here worried sick that she wasn't well. Apparently any colour of poo is acceptable as long as it's not white or black. Quite a range on the colour spectrum there to play with tee

Oh and tee you'll have many more worries to contend with before he reaches his first b'day. Mostly made up in your own head. Well, that's where I make all my worries up

I must say that K made the move from her swinging crib to a cot very easily and I thought she wouldn't after being rocked every night. She used to look lost in this big cot but now she's kinda grown into it.

I think a storm is a brewin' here. The phone is crackling (hope you follow the logic there). We're off to docs soon so it's bound to pee it down.

I've got DD#1's shopping to take to her flat as well. All that keep fit up to the second floor should run off all the Magnums!

Ok, stand back. It's time to reveal K's new trick of the day; taking her nappy off Found her in her cot this morning with the Bumgenius off, at the bottom of the cot and her rolling around butt naked looking pleased with herself. It'll be unpicking locks next..........

OP posts:
dawntigga · 01/07/2009 16:27

Baby cafe was VERY hot today

We have thunder now so hopefully there will be a storm soon

Tomorrow we will mostly be doing nothing after shopping first thing in the morning!

dxx

mrsboogie · 01/07/2009 16:46

doing mostly nothing sounds good

as do Magnums

good luck at the docs jw and K!

Tee2072 · 01/07/2009 17:31

Holy cow was I just majorly misquoted on another thread.

It wasn't so much the green poo that was worrying me as the mucus with the green poo! And I think one call to the GP in nearly 3 weeks is pretty darn good!!

jw sorry but I laughed my ass off at K and her naked butt in the cot. That's photograph worthy for showing her future husband!!

DH and I off to dinner. One last night out before mum and step dad leave on Saturday. I am ready for her to go (and she's ready to go!) but I will miss her!

johnworf · 01/07/2009 17:55

tee I'm sure you'll miss her when she goes but time for mummy and daddy to have some time on their own perchance? Nice that you're getting a meal out before they leave. Savour it. It might be a while before you get out again - mind you, you have PiL close by don't you?

I doubt we're going out for my b'day. Cancelled due to apathy and a whiney baby. Ah well...I'm too old to partay now anyway

tee glad K's naked botty made you smile. Next time I shall take a pic I think it was the look of total triumph she had on her face!

OP posts:
johnworf · 01/07/2009 17:57

Btw tee what did they say you allegedly said?

OP posts:
Tee2072 · 01/07/2009 18:12

This is the thread jw

heron22 · 01/07/2009 19:23

hi all, can anyone recommend a travel cot? i need one with wheels. thanks!

johnworf · 01/07/2009 19:40

Hmmm tee I tend to stay away from those kinds of threads. Far too contentious for my liking.

Ok update: BBC have just rung and I'm being picked up by taxi tomorrow morning for a pre-recording in the studio (pre-recorded at my request as I couldn't do live as I witter when I'm nervous). So....goes out on Friday's Woman's Hour.

heron sorry don't know of any. We never travel anywhere!

OP posts:
Tee2072 · 01/07/2009 20:52

JW Way cool! What time is Women's hour and is it on the radio? I have no idea what it is or what station or anything! [dumb american emoticon]

johnworf · 01/07/2009 21:09

tee it's BBC Radio 4 and it's on 10-11am You're not dumb, you work. People who work don't normally catch the radio. Just us people festering at home looking for any escapism they can get

OP posts:
FloriaTosca · 01/07/2009 21:27

Where has my post gone? It wasnt an epic but it took an age to write...aaaarrrggg!

JW WOW!Looking forward to hearing you on Friday....you wouldn't witter, not even if you were nervous, but I understand why you want to prerecord ...I'm sure you already know but the best tip I was given for interviewing was that a smile can be heard in your voiice, even on radio...enjoy.

JJ we are having land drains put in to stop it being a quagmire unfit for a toddler to play on ...1 mini digger yesterday joined by another and a mini dumper truck today and 3 ton digger tomorrow...Alex is already in 7th heaven.

his lordship has slept worse than ever since dh went off to SA and kindly passed out at 4.10 until 7.15...so is now dancing around like a wide awake dancy person ...if I see my bed this side of midnight I'll be very surprised ....

jeanjeannie · 01/07/2009 21:33

Evening all.

jw COOL!!!! A taxi! Nah, only kidding .....Woman's Hour...V COOL!!! Oh and well done you for getting a pre-recording...nice work...smart I LOL@ your assessment of the boring mummies at soft play

tee enjoy night out

mrsb hope you get a better night tonight. I can't believe how you're managing to function on such little sleep because I know just what it's like. At least I've never had to go and function in an office...you're a star.

Had nice day in Oxford but got stuck in a horrific crash queue - and missed another crash in front of us by 2 cars Took just under two hours in the searing heat (thank God for air con) to do a 20 min journey.

Feels like the sky is about to fall in - the humidity is horrendous

johnworf · 01/07/2009 21:34

thanks floria I'll take that tip with me and try and give a wobbly smile through my nerves!

I bet A is loving all that heavy machinery in his back garden. A little boys (and some big boys) dream!

EEEEK @ his sleeping hours. My goodness. I bet you're whacked. I really hope that he decides that he'll catch a few zzzzzzzzzz's for your own sanity

My pc keeps on eating my posts too. Usually the ones that take the longest to type
