New one! Thought I would make my mark!

OP posts:
Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
mummytopebs · 24/05/2009 22:10

Mine said 2-3 which is right cos i am 5 weeks tomorrow x I might buy another one next weekend and hopefully it will say 3 (bugger cant get the plus sign to work on my laptop). Just read about your gran on another thread hope you are ok, both of my nanas died when i was pregnant with my dd and it was awful, especially with hormones all over.

I am sick of being petrified everytime i go to the loo, i am going to ring gp on tuesday and ask for an early scan

Liskey · 24/05/2009 22:30

Thanks for that mummytopebs - its not been the easiest of fortnights - first of all getting a positive test and worrying about that. Then getting the call saying my gran was in hospital and then finding out she only had a few days left - I just keep crying as she was such a wonderful person who everyone loved.

I thought about asking for an early scan but i don't know how much it would reassure me. I'm thinking more of the "stick my head in the sand and it'll all be ok" approach. That and keep trying to think that I'm not pregnant really - its just a late period till I have a 12 week scan.

blondieminx · 24/05/2009 23:45

Evening all Liskey really sorry to hear about your nan, sounds like a bittersweet couple of weeks for you. Thinking of you , be kind to yourself. From what I've read on other threads browny discharge is old blood so it could well just be the last of implanation bleeding while your lo gets cosy in there

Mummytopebs Right with you there, I'm going to push for an early scan next week too. I've had to have the occaisional nap, and have felt but not been sick a few times but apart from that no symptoms here either apart from an ever puffier tummy - and coincidentally I used one of those clearblue ones that tell you how far gone you are yesterday, I just wanted to check that hopefully lo is still there! But I'm dying to see little bean on a screen so I know everything's going ok, especially after the episode with my blood tests last week! Will you pop yourself on the list after your scan do you think? I keep thinking if I do, is it tempting fate?

Syndey and Ashleigh hope all is well with both of you and your lo's and you've had a lovely day in this glorious sunshine!

Flappy pfft, lovely image there - am bizarrely envious of your sickness though . Take care of yourself and that hip, sounds very owww, poor you.

Lola what lovely quotes, they have made me all mushy! Bet the JJMB stuff you've purchased will look very cute on your lo! Have also indulged in a bit of retail therapy this weekend - Sainsbury's have lots of £ off Johnson & Johnson babycare toiletries so brought a few bits. Can't stop going into what will be the nursery (if please God all goes well), and sniffing the baby lotion . Have also put a couple of bids in on ebay for some work maternity clothes.

Crunch ahhh reading your post really made me smile - very glad everything is working out for you. Hope you get lots more kisses and happiness in the weeks to come

Scarlotti ah naps are great, if they keep us feeling perky I'm all for them! Hope DS snoozes through a bit later for you on the bank holiday so you can catch up on a bit of sleep. Thanks for mentioning about the SMP - I looked into it as soon as I found out I was pg (there's been 5 weeks between the first and second interviews) and it may be the reason I have to turn the role down. But it's a really nice job and would mean great career progression and they sound like a really great employer so I'm really torn. And if I were to MC again then I'd have lost out on a new challenge and the chance to take the next step up. I just keep wishing that jobs were like university places (in that I could then defer for a year!!!)

Happybump ahhh congratulations, what wonderful news! Fingers crossed for you.

mummytopebs · 25/05/2009 08:43

Morning

Blondiemix i am not putting myself on the list until i see a heartbeat.

Liskey probably a good way to think about it really that it is just a late period till 12 weeks, very sad but i suppose when you have had mc that is how you do feel.

I am worried this morning i have got really bad tummy pains and my tummy is all swollen - i am hoping it is just cos i have got a bad cough so maybe pulled some muscles, but if i start spotting i know its prob game over

jardins · 25/05/2009 11:09

Good morning to you all! Did you get a really thundery storm early this morning? Here in France it was most dramatic around 6 am.

I'm feeling a little insecure today about this early pregnancy. I think I'm on week 5 but I'm being haunted by m c two months ago which came around 6-7 week mark. This week end I got pretty pronounced symptoms - infact, I think, more so than for the last time - with bouts of nausea and a strong desire to sleep. Today however these symptoms feel less full on. I am somewhat comforted (selfishly though) by seeing these fears echoed by Mummytopebs, Blondieminx, and Liskey. I daren't add my name to the list in case of .... . Infact to be honest I'm probably not posting too often because I'm afraid of jinxing my luck about being pregnant. How foolish am I? Have any of your ladies had a bit of diarrhea in these early days? Yukkkk tmi. Sorrrrrrry! It's just that one hears about constipation so much in pregnancy the opposite seems rather incongruous.

Liskey, I totally approve of your late period until 12 week scan thing but don't you find that even after a week or two of being pregnant it feels like it's been so much longer and that you can't help getting invested in this little bean?

Sorry for fretting and moaning.

blondieminx · 25/05/2009 12:42

I know what you mean Jardins, until you get to that magic 12 week mark/see everything ok on a scan it doesn't quite feel real does it? I have 2 moods at the moment: one where I worry we're going to MC again, that my thyroid prob hasn't been correctly treated in the early stages so is the baby ok and generally worrying about everything; and the other where I notice that even though I don't really have many other pg symptoms my tummy is definately growing so I start planning out the nursery, bidding for maternity wear on ebay etc. Ridiculous I know

And don't feel bad about finding comfort in other's posts - the whole point of this thread is for us to be able to share what we're feeling and how we're getting on. I think after suffering mc's you do definately feel much more aprehensive about subsequent pregnancies. I just keep telling myself as long as I eat helathily, take my vitamins and take care to rest enough then mother nature will take care of the rest (please god!)

On the subject of diahhrea um... how to put this delicately... do you eat a fibre-rich diet? Plenty of fruit and veg etc? That can increase the speed of things through your system. Also if you eat quite liquidy foods (like soup) that doesn't give your tummy loads to process so it might come out looser? Although one of the really helpful things about mumsnet is fining others in he same position that you can compare notes with, sometimes the opposite is true. There's a couple of us who are basically fine but nervy as we have no morning sickness, then poor old flappy is running from the table cos she can't keep things down. What I'm trying to say is that all our bodies are different and deal with being pg in a slightly different way so as long as you're taking in plenty of nutritious foods I'm sure it will settle down. Do you have anything like the NHS direct helpline in France, where you can speak to a nurse for reassurance?

Mummytopebs will be thinking of you today and sending "sticky bean" vibes your way. Rest up plenty.

HappyBump · 25/05/2009 13:07

oh no dear ... perhaps I have jinxed myself [sad face] by adding my name to the list so early.
I was just trying to be positive and optimistic after 2 mc's it is my way of handling it. I hope I have upset others by adding my name so early.
Will pop back when (still trying to be optimistic) I am further along. I hate all the waiting too. My DH tells me that I never should wish time away, but it is agonisingly frustrating waiting and waiting.

jardins · 25/05/2009 14:35

Oh Blondieminx thank you, thank you for your response to my angst ridden mail. It really helps to feel less lonely having those encouraging words.

Mummytopebs, I kinda feel like you today: upset stomach and all sorts of twinges with a more swollen stomach. How are you feeling now? I'm with you all the way.

I'm oscillating between two decisions. First postponing getting a first appointment to let Mother Nature run her sweet course for another week or two (ie to get past the stage when I m c before) or to see the doc asap incase there's something he can do to help things along. Has anyone tried progesterone cream to help prevent mc? The thing is I'm a bit of a one for hoping nature is the best way. With the TTC it was the same.

Any advice?

blondieminx · 25/05/2009 15:04

Happy it's a personal choice - please don't feel bad! If you're happy to put yourself on the list then that's great! My DH says the same but I am dying to get to that magic 12 mark good luck to you.

YouKnowNothingoftheCrunch · 25/05/2009 16:39

Happy don't feel bad at all If it worries you then you can always take yourself off again for a few weeks (just re-post it without you), but there's no need. It always makes me smile when I see a new name added to the current list - it's such a positive assertion at such a difficult time.

Just want to add a note of caution when using the Clearblue tests - they are not hugely accurate in their dating, so if you do find you're still 2-3 weeks when you should be reading 3+ then do not panic, it doesn't necessarily mean anything is wrong.

jardins no advice I'm afraid on the cream I'm afraid. If you can hold on until you're past the 8 week mark then do, as the chances of MC after that drop drastically to about 2%.

mummytopebs hope you're ok, pains can just be pains, and if you're bloated then it could well be digestive issues that are causing it. Thinking of you.

Liskey sorry to hear about your gran, hope you're being kind to yourself.

blondie hope you get a scan soon. The symptom thing is funny. The only time I have had all the right symptoms was when I miscarried - it would be so nice if our bodies could have one clear signal that all is well (preferably glowing skin rather than morning sickness )

Lola you're safe - remember I predicted a girl and am always right! I wish I could get on here more often I'm losing track of where everyone is in their 9 months journey

scarlotti hope your quad results are good. How're things at home now? Still going well I hope. We're ok here. Still strange, but better. 3 doesn't seem too bad so far, but ask me at the end of the week - H goes back to work tomorrow

flappy hope you're feeling less chundurous

cece? I'm guessing silence is a good sign

herb not long to go now! Very exciting. Any manic cleaning going on? I knew I was close when I took down all the blinds and cleaned each rung individually

sydney I can sympathise with the absentee husband issue. My H used to work in Iran for months on end and I was lucky to get a call once a week. It's the main bonus of his current job that he is home.

ashleigh ooh! Are you officially in your third trimester now? (or has my ability to do maths gone completely?)

Tamlin at your Hospital A! They sound like they've really got your care as their priority (can you just make out my subtle sarcasm?)

All is well here. DD is still feeding well and looking a lot podgier. I can't believe she's only existed for 2 weeks. I'm already getting used to being able to reach things on the floor - the things you take for granted!

scarlotti · 25/05/2009 17:12

Afternoon all

Have had a lovely weekend out and about visiting people and then today there was a carnival in the local park so we're just back and a little jaded!

So many posts and I've had to turn the page so can't remember everyone individually, sorry.

To all the ladies under the 12 week mark - there is no right or wrong way to feel, and it will change day by day so just try and get through each one. For every person that has symptoms there is another who doesn't so try not to put too much by what you have and don't have.
Can't remember who is suffering loose motions I had that at the beginning so nothing to worry about. Have also swung the other way since!!

crunch glad to hear things are on the up at home, albeit slowly. It's similar here, definitely feeling more positive about us but no libido at all so things certainly aren't swinging!

cece I presume you must be either still in hospital or settling in at home with your new one. Hope it all went the way you hoped, or if not then at least smoothly.

herb fingers crossed you're soon too!

sydney and ashliegh hope your day yesterday wasn't too sad and you're managing to stay positive.

Am 16 weeks now and feeling like a mini beached whale already have even managed to grow out of a pair of maternity jeans as my thighs (which have always been chunky) have now become tree trunk esque. Really not feeling like a yummy mummy at all this time, more lumbering hippo [sticks bottom lip out]
Mentioned it to the mw as my next appt (in 3 months!! ) is the lucozade test. The most she could say is look at my portion sizes - not the most helpful thing I thought, a bit of sympathy or even a 'well it is your third so not to worry' wouldn't have gone amiss. Given I'd just mentioned I'd suspected ante-natal depression in the early months, I thought it was a bit pants to be honest.

Wheelybug · 25/05/2009 17:17

HI All

This thread mvoes too fast these days but seriously great to see lots of new people on here and to see those oldies moving up the list !

Jardins - I had diarrhoea in early pregnancy - same as you, had heard all about constipation but when I googled foudn the other surprisingly common. I then got constipated later on and at the end again ende dup with bouts of diarrhoea ! Charming !

Crunch - good to see you ! Big hugs for polly.

Cece - hoping you're cuddling your LO by now however s/he came into the world .

All ok here except Lara has a cold and cough which is quite sad. But is lovely. The tongue tie snip seems to be having some positive effects - she seems to have had a growth spurt (which may or may not be related), is sleeping much better (again, may or may not be related) and my nipples no longer hurt (which presumably is !).

mummytopebs · 25/05/2009 17:49

Thanks everyone for your kind words and sticky bean thoughts. Thankfully the pains subsided so most be pulled muscles from this cough i cant seem to shift, its really weird i am actually glad i feel under the weather cos thinking to myself i might feel under the weather cos all my vitamins are going to the bean - hope so and making it strong.

Is that really true that at 8 weeks the chances of mc decrease to 2% i really hope so that only gives me 3 more weeks of total worry then.

It is nice to come on this thread and not feel judged or as if you are whinging about something that might never happpen cos as we all know the fear is very very real x

I am off for a nap now

jardins · 25/05/2009 18:08

You are all so nice on this thread! Yippee!! This is most heart warming.

flappybitsoskin · 25/05/2009 20:00

elloelloello

all ok here. No more sick. Talking of symptoms tho - whilst I'm proud of me chunder, I have absolutely no breast tenderness at all. Could punch meself in the tit and barely notice Last time I was sleeping in bras at this stage cos they hurt so much at even the slightest movement. I think that might not be such a good sign (then I try and jolly meself up with the thought that it's just me last pg that kanckered me tits full stop )

I'm worrying about cvs stuff. Posted about it on antenatal choices board.

pebs - glad you seem to be feeling more chipper and reasurred.

jardins - I've been having diarrohea. My much more pg friend has too - she affectionately refers to it as morning shitness

best of luck and big waves to everyone here

YouKnowNothingoftheCrunch · 26/05/2009 12:01

For those who want to know the statistics they are here - confirms 98% chance of viable pregnancy from 8 weeks, and 99%+ from 10 weeks

Wheely just wanted to thank you again for your little pack I used it all and have passed on what's left of the massage oil to a friend who is due soon. Your kindness in sending it really came at a tough time and it cheered me up so much to know that there are people out there who are so kind and generous. I used the energy tabs as a valuable pick me up in the minutes after birth - I highly recommend them. Glad your nipples are feeling better and Lara's doing well after her snip.

scarlotti on behalf of your MW, "well it is your third so not to worry". I have to say the most weight I put on was around 12 weeks and then again in the last couple of weeks (and that's weight on me, not on baby, more specifically weight on my thighs and bum ). Soon it'll all disappear beneath a beautiful bump and you won't know it's there.

flappy I didn't have sore boobs 'til about 22 weeks, and then it all came at once only lasted a couple of weeks though and then they were normal-ish again.

mummy glad to see you're feeling better

jardins yes we are all lovely! (and modest too )

YouKnowNothingoftheCrunch · 26/05/2009 12:02

Meant to add - it's the bit under the title Early Scans that gives the stats.

scarlotti · 26/05/2009 12:12

crunch thanks for sharing that. It was pulling on the maternity jeans and not getting them past my thighs that did it never mind that they were huge around my bump. Sigh.
Note to self to choose more flattering maternity gear...

They'll be on eBay this week

Luckily I have also got a bumps so do now look pregnant rather than a heffer, which is better for the old morale.

Wheely hope Lara gets rid of her snuffles soon. I remember being shocked with ds as to just how many colds he had in the first year as had completely forgotten that side of things with dd.

flappy my boobs can be sore for a while then nothing for weeks, so I don't think it's anything to worry about. Easier said than done though I know.

Tamlin · 26/05/2009 13:53

Crunch, I hope you're right, I'm quite fond of the bump but would rather not have chubby upper arms and thighs to go with it... Wish I was one of those glamorous pregnant women who keep stick-thin arms and legs the whole way throughout.

Wheely, it sounds as if everything is going bee-you-ti-fully, cold aside!

I'm still throwing up occasionally - mostly in the evening - but feel as if I'm very cautiously starting to settle back and enjoy being pregnant. Hopefully, this will be our last one (I only want two) so I'm making an effort to try to LIKE being in a 'delicate state'. (Hah.)

scarlotti · 26/05/2009 15:23

Tamlin am with you on that one, some women just look so glamourous. Was at a BBQ on Sunday with a few new babies. Both the mum's of the 3 weeks olds looked fabulous and practically slim! They were young so I guess spring back quicker but it was quite depressing as I know it won't happen to me

One the plus side though, when the mw listened to the heartbeat last week, she put the doppler at the top of my belly and found it there. I'd presumed baby was still tiny and tucked away lower down and the top bit was all cake! Maybe there's hope for me yet?!

Am feeling much better in myself now, no nausea and tiredness is much more at normal levels. This is definitely my last one so am also wanting to get to the stage of enjoying it all.

lal123 · 26/05/2009 15:41

Afternoon allxxxxx

Just getting caught up on how everyone is - ccongrats to all who have joined us - fingers crossed for an uneventful pregnancy for all.

We're just back from a long weekend in Eurodisney - which was fantastic, but as an "expectant mother" I didn't get to go on the rides I wanted to (HURRAY!! )

Starting to feel more little movements, but nothing spectacular yet, and still managing to fit into regular clothes (apart from my jeans).

Now just waitnig for 20 week scan on 9th June - it's going to be a long couple of weeks!

Ciara11 · 26/05/2009 17:59

Hi all
Hope you all had a good bank holiday weekend, mine was quite relaxing, which was nice and made a change.

Blondiemix Im still not sure whether to have an early scan or not, cause like you im worried about getting there and find out that something is wrong.
Like Liskey im almost thinking that its a very late period, but then you start thinking ...... you cant win can you?

Im going to book an appointment with Doctor or midwife (does anyone know who i should see?) as now 8 weeks with first after 2 mc and probably should let someone know other than just me and dp (and all you of course )

Glad the bloods were ok Liskey mummytopebs are you thinking of having an early scan?

I hope everyone else is keeping well.

Hugs to everyone

mummytopebs · 26/05/2009 18:19

Ciara i went to see gp as they wanted to book up me in with a consultant at the hospital as prev 2 mc and pre-eclampsia in pregnancy.

Has anyone else round about the 5 week mark got any symptoms, because apart from being tired i dont seem to have any typicla pregnancy symptoms? Also can antone recomend anything for a bad cough because i cant seem to shift it?

Wheelybug · 26/05/2009 19:04

Glad the pack came in useful Crunch - I am really pleased someone got the use of it (bitter - moi ? ). Also pleased you've passed it on and someone else is benefitting too !

Thanks Scarlotti and Tamlin - think the cold is a bit better today. Still a bit of a cough but sleeping better (which is the main thng ).

Tamlin - sorry the sickness is still ongoing, I can't remember how many weeks you are. I threw up until 36 weeks this time. Although it was quite infrequent late on so wasn't everyday. Its all worth it in the end though.

mumface · 26/05/2009 22:41

Only 6 weeks to go for me now! It's getting real.I have started preparing thing now made up cot, washing new vests/babygro's cus the cat slept on them on the changing table!got little fluffy washable nappies all ready too.Can u tell I'm getting excited?
