Hi,

I know there is often a thread like this running, but I couldn't find an active one.

I'm 39+6 with my first baby and desperate for him to arrive. I have had quite an achy back/mild period pains on and off for about a week now, but nothing seems to get started. It is so frustrating. Baby is only 1/5 engaged so I'm resigning myself to going overdue. Midwife today told me they don't induce until 12-14 days late. I really don't want to wait that long.

Just wondered if there was anyone else around feeling the same.

Also any tips for getting things started a bit quicker.

Please please someone wave a magic wand for us...

I'm 40 weeks and 10 days and have had loads of twinges, aches and pains including horrible pains down fronts of legs but nothing else as yet. Hospital has no availability for an induction until next Saturday ha ha ha ha ha

Have tried almost everything to speed things up, have even spent the morning chasing toddler around the soft play and going at high speed down the slides. Haven't tried pineapple as the quantities are daft and no sex as there is no way on this earth I can have sex with a bump this MASSIVE.

So every sympathy for you waitingtogivebirth and any top tips very very gratefully received!

Hi, I'm 39+3 and so far there have been no signs of anything happening at all. Not too fed up just yet as I have always had the feeling I'd go overdue, but think I'll start to feel differently as my due date goes flying by...

mabel1973 · 20/10/2008 14:46

hello

I am 36 weeks, so not as far on as you all, but fed up with it all the same.
I am 2/5 engaged and just feel so heavy in my pelvis, I went 10 days over with DS1 and 7 days over with DS2, I REALLY hope this one is early!

waitingtogivebirth · 20/10/2008 14:50

I've been hoping since 37 weeks that this baby will come soon .

I am so weary today and I can't bear the idea of feeling like this for another 2 weeks!

plan something to do waiting - spend some time planning a little trip for yourself - doesnt have to be to anywhere too far away, and get a manicure/haircut/swim - whatever you like, and try to have something planned for everyday so that you dont spend too long thinking about it - cause it just drives you crazy.

i went to 40+6 with ds - but was away on a little holiday (still within 30 miles of the hospital) during the week of my due date and i'm sure it helped me not go crazy.

and hatcam - the bump doesnt get in the way if its not facing your dh/dp - sure you've thought of that but i remember trying everything to get that baby out.

mabel1973 · 20/10/2008 15:45

conkertree - I have stuff on everyday, with the DS's swimming, preschool etc and I am at college...everything just seems like so much of an effort !!!

conkertree · 20/10/2008 15:49

ah yes you see the plan fails when you have other dcs to run after - not as much fun i imagine as relaxing swims, a little manicure etc - have only experienced the lead up to birth without other dcs so will have all the fun of running after a 20 month old this time - people say will i finish work earlier this time - no chance.

mabel1973 · 20/10/2008 15:53

no stay at work as long as possible, you'll get more rest that way!!

nuclear · 20/10/2008 16:31

hello

39+4 fed up with a capital F !!!

having soooo many twinges that amount to nothing.

2nd baby (have a toddler) and have just got a visit from the pile fairy

waitingtogivebirth · 20/10/2008 17:32

All of my aches from earlier have disappeared again now. I have managed quite a bit of time on the birthing ball today though so hopefully that will bring the baby down a bit more .

Hello, happy to join this thread! Am 39 + 6, and no sign that anything will happen soon. Glad that my unborn DD is comfy inside me but hey it would be nice to pass her to DH from time to time now.

Am i the only one to think time has slow down and that one day feels like one week now? Good luck everyone for the last few days.

ilovemuffins · 21/10/2008 17:00

I feel like that too Bouncycastle - time just seems to stretch infinitely right now. At 40+8 today, had second sweep yesterday. The midwife was optimistic, but booked me in for induction on Monday just in case. I'd really like to avoid induction if at all possible, but don't want to go beyond two weeks overdue...

Could kick myself for having told everybody my correct due date - getting fed up with families and friends calling for updates! They have been told we'll be in touch once there's news, but that message just doesn't seem to have sunk in yet... Yesterday a friend called just 15 mins after I'd embarked on a much-needed afternoon nap - ggrrhhh!!!!

Can't wait for this baby to finally make his appearance - he'll have a lot to answer for :-)

Good luck everyone!

nuclear · 22/10/2008 09:58

hi lstill here....

has a run of strong contractions last night - one every ten minutes for 3 hours.

but it has all stopped now

due date tomorrow.

positive labour vibes to all **

conkertree · 22/10/2008 10:03

oh its so exciting - i'm only 14 weeks just now so am just enjoying your thread/feeling your impatience vicariously and remembering it from having ds.

bouncycastle - have you tried going on a bouncy castle - i did that three days before going into labour so no idea if it had any effect, but was quite fun.

nuclear - sounds promising if only to get things geared up - but frustrating when it seems to start and stop all the time.

i lovemuffins - dont answer your phone and then they will all think you've gone into labour - leave them guessing. go to the cinema - we went to see evan almighty the night i went into labour - bit of a waste of our last cinema trip for a long long time, but being in a public place where you dont want your waters to go will maybe be the incentive they need to break.

Bouncycastle · 22/10/2008 11:40

ilovemuffins - so true! If I get PG again I'll add 1 week to the due date before I'll tell my friends.

nuclear - we share the same due date! I'm going to bake a cake tomorrow if nothing else happens. At least it will make the day a bit special... Oh, and that will be a cake with fresh pineapple of course.

conkertree - if by Sunday nothing has happened I'll dig out my skipping rope.

bateeha24 · 22/10/2008 16:43

hi ladies
im officially 40 wks today
had a sweep and a growth scan
thank god everything is ok
so hopefully labor should start within 48 hrs if the sweep works if not i have an appointment on the 29th oct and will discuss
induction then , hope that it works i don't want to be induced fingers crossed

nuclear · 22/10/2008 18:10

hello

MW felt bump today and thought he was breach - had to go to for a scan but he is still head down.

no more pains for me ... no cake baking for me either (can't bake for a start!) but off to DS's halloween party at playgroup tomorrow.

UmSami · 23/10/2008 01:32

Hi All,

I'm 39.2 and VERY BORED...2-3 weeks ago had v. bad BH, pain in cervix, and huge ammounts of presure on pelvis, I was sure she was imminent...for the last week NOTHING...seems like she's changed her mind.

Was induced with ds at 40+11, hated it, really hope I don't have to be this time...

Positive birthing vibes to everyone, any ideas to get things moving...v. much appreciated!

Sallypuss · 23/10/2008 05:59

Please can I join the waiting thread too? Due date today and not the slightest sign of anything happening at all - not a twinge despite 2 pineapples and 2 curries. May have to resort to sex shortly....

Bouncycastle · 23/10/2008 09:18

Due date for me today too.

I had a long walk, a curry and some pineapple yesterday, then spent half the night awake watching out for signs of labour, but nothing!

Oh, but I've already eaten all the sweets I had packed in my maternity bag for extra energy during the labour .

waitingtogivebirth · 23/10/2008 10:30

40+2 for me today. Lots of braxton hicks last night and this morning. No sign of anything stronger though. Feeling really grumpy and miserable today. Think its a mixture of frustration and anxiety.

I am often dipping into my hospital bag snacks too .

bateeha24 · 23/10/2008 12:07

hi 40+1 today had a show yesterday but nothing else so far . i think i tried everything already except sex . any more suggestions to keep things going besides pineapple ,raspberry leaf tea ,curries , long walks up and down the stairs ?

UmSami · 23/10/2008 13:28

Bouncing on your birthing ball seems to be a popular suggestion on MN...tried it for 2 hours last night though...still nothing! Saying that I tried EVERYTHING with DS1 and, as I said before, was induced, so may well just be me!!! LOL
Good luck...
