Hi,

I know there is often a thread like this running, but I couldn't find an active one.

I'm 39+6 with my first baby and desperate for him to arrive. I have had quite an achy back/mild period pains on and off for about a week now, but nothing seems to get started. It is so frustrating. Baby is only 1/5 engaged so I'm resigning myself to going overdue. Midwife today told me they don't induce until 12-14 days late. I really don't want to wait that long.

Just wondered if there was anyone else around feeling the same.

Also any tips for getting things started a bit quicker.

nothing more here to report .... just feeling a bit niggly. I went into town today in teh hope that the walk would get things going but nothing yet.

contractions are really hard to describe Lola. With DS I felt as though I a type of 'vice' around me that was being tightened if that makes sense and you can also 'feel' things opening up aswell. Well it was like that for me - but maybe everyone gets them differently.

keeping everything crossed for everyone.

bouncy - I obviously know you are not called 'boundy' LOL

UmSami · 25/10/2008 22:45

Hey all! Sorry to hear that noones moving yet!
Nuclear I realy had high hopes for you...
Saw obgyn today and guess what.....NOTHING!
My cervix hadn't even moved forwards!
Baby's still high, but it's my second so I'm hoping thats not too significant...
Back to bouncing!
Obgyn said maybe 2 more weeks [cry]...told her our friendship is officially over if she can't talk this baby into coming out before then lol...

ToThrottleABlackBird · 25/10/2008 23:25

Hiya everyone. I was due on the 20th. Had a show over the last couple of days but does not look like he is ready to budge anytime soon

JennysMummy · 25/10/2008 23:46

Hi everyone! I'm not as far along as most of you, (I'm 36 weeks today) but I'm already feeling fed up with being pregnant. This is my second.. I was induced at 37 weeks with DD1 due to IUGR. Not knowing when this little girl is going to arrive is driving me mad! I've had lots of false labour & lost my mucus plug etc. so I'm constantly wondering if today is the day.

Lots of positive labour vibes to everyone!

waitingtogivebirth · 26/10/2008 09:06

I'm having lots of braxton hicks this morning - every 5 minutes. And they are loads more painful than they have been. Feeling a bit constipated though. So might be nothing.

Ooh good luck Waiting fingers crossed for you.
I, on the other hand, couldn't feel any less pregnant today got a strong feeling that today is NOT the day

lauraw78 · 26/10/2008 09:52

Wiped and there was a pinkish streak (sorry if tmi) this morning, a step closer I think.

Even if it's not, I have woken up with a fresh revitalised attitude this morning, lets hope that lasts for at least the day =)

mabel1973 · 26/10/2008 16:52

Hi all
just trying to catch up with you all after the weekend.
I saw my midwife on friday and she said the head is well down and she is keepng a close eye on me due to my 'false labour' last tuesday, I have go another 3 weeks to go, I don't think I can bear it if I go overdue.
I came down with a sickness bug on thursday which the DS's and DH have had as well and it lasted well into the early hours of saturday morning. Someone told me sickness bugs can start labour off....I was hopeful.
I was completely drained yesterday though and i feel like I've done so well to keep going til now (walking up to school, not using the car etc.), but now i feel like giving in.
I need some postive vibes...sitting on my bum is not going to make this baby arrive! (even though i know I should not be wishing for it to be early!)

Bouncycastle · 26/10/2008 17:27

Anyone got their babies yet? Or gone into labour?

LolaBella I know what you mean by knowing it's not going to be THE day today.

Am a bit disappointed nothing happened this weekend but going for a sweep tomorrow. I so hope it will speed things up.

Since yesterday my bump and arms are covered with horribly itchy red dots its making me crazy, trying not to scratch. I found that the best relief is roll a bottle of cold booze straight from the fridge on my skin. I wish I could drink the content as well...

nuclear · 26/10/2008 19:07

hi bouncy ooohhh itchy skin - is it dry will moisturiser help?

I have little dry red patches all over my belly where the skin is just stretched to the max.

hope tonight is the night for someone....

Flum · 26/10/2008 19:11

I am one day late and loving it. OUr 2 kids have gone to Grandparents for half term week. We are kicking back on the sofa and RELAXING.

Let the mayem of a new baby wait as long as possible......

My last two were 11 days late and 8 days late respectively so not expecting much.

I think it is less tiring being pregnant ahan having a newborn but I'm not sure.....

UmSami · 27/10/2008 01:35

You know what, I wish I could wake up and know today is not the day...everyday I wake up thinking...maybe...and then go to sleep disappointed! Not sure if I'm a perpetual optimist, or fool!

mabel1973 · 27/10/2008 07:58

Flum- that sounds like bliss!

DH has gone back to work this week after 'working from home', so I am at home with the DS's on my own for half term..... [sense of dread emoticon!]

my 2 were also overdue like yours, 10 days and 7 days..this one's a girl, surely more likely to be on time, it's in the genes isn't it?!

LolaBella · 27/10/2008 08:41

Any exciting news to report today?
Not from me again 39 + 5 and still feeling optimistic. Apparently i was a nightmare child so my sister is convinced that my LO is going to appear on halloween!!

Got mw this afternoon so will see what she has to say

Bouncycastle · 27/10/2008 13:58

News at last! After a virtually sleepless night due to the most horrible itching, I lost my mucus plug, just 5 minutes before my appointment to get a sweep. I got the sweep anyway and was told that labour should kick in in the next 24 hours. And otherwise they'll induce me anyway.

I also got some anti-allergic tablets for the skin rash, so I'm off to bed for the rest of the day, need to catch up a bit of rest before the action starts.

Good luck to everyone who's waiting or is going in labour. Our little ones will be here soon!

ToThrottleABlackBird · 27/10/2008 14:56

Hope tings get moving for you all soon. Im 40+7 now and still no sign.

aj13 · 27/10/2008 15:08

Hi Im not preg at the moment but remember the 'get baby out' feeling!!!
Just thought Id mention that when I was 38 weeks pregnant I went to get a drink from the fridge and found some grapefruit juice and really fancied some so poured myself a glass. That night I felt abit funny then when I woke up the next morning I had my show and went in to a very quick 4hour labour.
We had always thought she would come early (although mw kept saying i was no where near)
so this could just be one of those things but when speaking to my friend she has also gone into labour after some grapefruit juice so if any of you are desperate go get drinking and let me know if it works!! lol

Flum · 27/10/2008 22:24

Mabel my two are girls though, they were late arriving and still always late and NEVER ready when we are going out. MInd you ALL kids are like that aren't they!

I see these days before baby born as bonus days to get through To Do lists.

Today I changed all the bed linen, did all the clothes washing, washed all the towels, tidied and cleaned the girls bedrooms. Wrapped their 'from new baby prezzies'/ Took the recycling, cleaned out make-up drawer and did 2 hours of accounts work for DH. Then DH and I went out for a pizza with the Times 2 for 1 at Pizza Express.

It was bliss - feels like we are courting again - ahhhh we rarely go out just on our own as save babysitter nights for parties and social dinners etc, never just dinner out on our own.

Have decided that tomorrow we will go out for TexMex then on Wednesday night which is my perfect night to have baby as I am having a crown fitted on the Wednesday we will go out for a hot curry polished off with a bit of rumpy pumpy.

So there you go , my news in excessive detail!

For what its worth the only sure fire way I know of to start labour is Caster Oil, it gets it going but it gives you SHOCKING squits too. I know quite a few people who have done it though.

40+2 here.

UmSami · 28/10/2008 05:50

Bouncy WOW!...I guess today is finally the day for you! Hope everything goes as 'easily' as possible. Keep us posted (as soon as you are able!)GOOD LUCK!
LolaBella...I've got a niggling feeling that my little one will appear on halloween too...we'll see.
D-Day for me tomorrow but not a sign! x

Flum - your week sounds great .
Much as I love em i would love to palm the ds's off for a few days so i could feel like i am properly organised and DH and I could have some time to ourselves...i really miss that!

Bouncycastle · 28/10/2008 10:02

Ooooh, congratulations nuclear! Great news!

40+5 for me today and still no baby. Had some contractions at night so got really all excited, but this morning they've gone.

hatcam · 28/10/2008 11:56

morning

I was a v. grumpy hatcam right at the beginning of this thread.....now a bit more cheery if a bit sleep deprived!!

Baby John Wilfred arrived on Fri night at 42 weeks, had waters broken at about 6pm, nasty twinges followed shortly, first proper contraction at 7pm and he was born at 8pm. Good work I reckon. Gas and air but horrible tearing as his heart rate dropped through the floor and was ordered by excellent but quite scary midwife to push push push and given her proximity to my nether regions I decided for once in my life I'd better do as I was told.

Enough stitches to rival the Bayeux Tapestry, it took so long that I thought the doc must be at least doing a sampler or crocheting a blanket down there. Any advice on helping healing welcomed!
