Welcoming all those who have received their BFPs for a November bubba - congratulations to all!
I felt terrified as not really TTC #2 but thanks to support from the kind ladies of MN I’ve decided to embrace and be excited.

34, baby #2, probably keeping it a surprise(?!) mum to a 7yo DS, hoping only 1 in there as only 3 weeks today and heft symptoms already

Morning all
I'm getting quite concerned this isn't going well. I am only 4 weeks today, but since yesterday afternoon I have had a very localised crampy/stitchy/sometimes burning and stabby pain in my lower left abdo, and back pain in the same area. I have never had a chemical / a MS / a MM / ectopic. Just 1 successful standard pregnancy with little to no symptoms. As this is still happening this morning it feels more and more obvious and I cannot stop worrying now. I want reassurance this doesn't mean it's ectopic but my heart is telling me something is wrong. I haven't told my DH yet as I had a very weird feeling when i tested early that i might jinx it so i wanted to wait until the day i missed my period to say i am 100% pregnant. Now that's today, he has no idea, no one knows at all and i am sat at work doing almost nothing trying to decide what to do and trying not to burst into tears. If I am right and I leave it I could be in danger, if i am wrong i'm outing myself way too early to work. I just feel helpless now.

@iwasgonnasay sorry to hear you’re having a rough morning! But be reassured that it sounds normal. It could be the side you ovulated from, the egg leaves behind a corpus luteum, which produces progesterone to support the embryo/early fetus. That can cause some twinges, slight pain, pulling etc. give it a google and see if it sounds familiar to what you’re feeling.
with ectopics the pain is likely to be more severe (may increase so keep an eye on it), you may also experience dizziness (more so that early pregnancy light-headedness), and pain in your shoulder.
keep in mind that if it’s only slightly getting worse, this could be because you’re looking out for it. I wouldn’t be overly concerned unless it increased to you doubling over in pain, or not being able to physically hide that you are in pain.

If it persists though, might be worth getting reassurance from GP/EPU.

keep us up to date on how you’re doing 🫶🏼

iwasgonnasay · 04/03/2026 12:52

Thank you @Sj2505 I would like it to be something less sinister or just normal, but I guess i'm in limbo for now. Feel silly right now, just ridiculous. Have no choice but to get on with my day and let the inevitable run its course

Sj2505 · 04/03/2026 13:08

@iwasgonnasay you’re not alone. I feel the same, with my doubt over these tests. My partner keeps telling me not to worry and stop testing! But we can’t help but worry. Don’t feel silly, or ridiculous, it just means a lot to you!
We’ve all got this, together!

Taysonic · 04/03/2026 13:47

@iwasgonnasay - keep your chin up lovely. I've had aches and pains (quite stabby pains) in both my successful pregnancy and my early losses. So, having them doesn't really indicate anything either way at this stage. I distinctly remember being at a hen do (great timing!) the day I found out I was pregnant with my son (and it probably was exactly 4 weeks), and sitting in a Greek restaurant having quite a lot of pain and not knowing then if it was normal or not. Thankfully, I had no bleeding, and everything progressed as expected.

Over Christmas, I had very similar pains at around 5 weeks. I told myself at the time that it was just like when I was successfully pregnant and might mean things were stretching and just the normal uterus twinges - but then I started bleeding the following morning.

There will be countless of comments from women online that have said similar pains, experienced some early bleeding, and have still gone on to have successful pregnancies.

All we can do, is look after ourselves the best we can, and have a good strong support network to help us get through the uncertainty. We're also SUPER hyper-aware of everything at the moment. Someone once told me that any lower left abdominal pain could be digestive rather than reproductive. That area of our body is so congested with a whole host of different organs and systems, that it can be difficult to know what's causing what.

Take it easy, as best you can. Rest. Do whatever you need to to try and stay hopeful and positive and see what the next few days bring. Big deep breath.

Sorry to hear you’re having a worrisome time 🙁 I’ve also started to have some stabbing/twingy type pains on one side today. I’m 5 weeks tomorrow. It’s not super painful so hoping I just need to have a rest as it’s been a busy morning. Completely understand how you’re feeling though X

Sarah268 · 04/03/2026 16:00

Hi everyone, tentatively joining as I am testing positive for a EDD of 2nd Nov. Like lots of you I’m feeling super edgy because I have zero symptoms and that’s the same experience I had with a MC I had previously. Trying to push these thoughts away though and focus on the positives!

would be baby 2 for me. My son is 13 months old now so I’m looking at a 21 month age gap eeeek!

loooking forward to sharing the highs and lows. Sending baby dust to you all x

Welcome Sarah! Nice to have you, and sorry to hear about your previous loss. I've had a few MCs too (some more straight forward than others) so I'm very tentative too at the moment. I'm not quite sure if things do progress at what point I'll start to believe but feeling very guarded. No symptoms isn't necessarily problematic though, so try and keep as hopeful and positive as you can. <3

iwasgonnasay · 04/03/2026 21:52

Welcome @Sarah268 sorry to hear about your previous experiences with MC, my heart goes to you. As you’ll see there are lovely people here supporting each other. I’ve had more ups and downs in 3 days than I had in my whole first pregnancy. Wishing you all the baby dust and here for your vents and delights.

Thanks @Taysonic and @CrazyKJ for your reassurance and level headedness. I really was getting myself in a state. I had only done one test and that was the digital CB pregnant I got when I texted last Thursday 6 days before AF so when I came home today I did these and got instant reassurance. The line test didn’t even hesitate, it was bright right across and the digital was the same so I’ve told myself to stop worrying!

@iwasgonnasay those are some perfect tests!

its so easy to spiral with worry in these first few weeks isn’t it! we’ve also got to remember that the hormones are now flooding our bodies and making us feel really funny. I’ve been really upset about my son’s sleeping at the moment but I know if I wasn’t pregnant I’d be way more chill about it.

I think I’ll get a reassurance scan around 7/8 weeks as I definitely want to be able to hear a heartbeat 🤞

OchreCardigan · 05/03/2026 08:20

Wow @Elena88 that's so organised! Well done. I have referred myself now to RUH Bath, but I've not heard a peep from them since. Is that not normal?

I have booked a private scan for just after 8 weeks, though. It's at the end of this month, which seems so far away!

CrazyKJ · 05/03/2026 09:15

How are you doing this morning? @iwasgonnasay

Ive still got the sharp pains on one side on/off, it’s not gotten worse but I can’t decide if I feel less pregnant today 😩 Just not sure if I’m just being hyper aware though. I’ve been testing like a mad woman this morning and tests are darker and got 2-3 on clear blue. Really hoping that’s a good sign X

🎇 Due November 26 🎆
iwasgonnasay · 05/03/2026 10:08

Morning @CrazyKJ I'm much better today thank you for checking in - i told DH this morning and my goodness he was over the moon bless him, was lovely. And my pain hasn't returned the same since it eased yesterday afternoon and i started to just feel nauseous and bloated again, and very emotional! I feel like this is a "text boom symptom" pregnancy which feels very intense compared to #1 so i want to try and embrace every moment.

I'm sorry you're feeling like that this morning, I feel you so strongly. Your tests look great though! I don't know scientifically how reassuring it is, but for me it totally changed my mind set. Has it provided any comfort? What else are you feeling, are you physically stressing yourself out? Or is it just when you notice the uncomfortable feeling / pain?

OP posts:
Elena88 · 05/03/2026 10:21

@OchreCardigan i guess some hospitals are busier than other but surely they will come back to you soon. If not you can always give them a call to confirm they received your referral 💛

I can’t mentally wait until week 8 😊 so I will most likely will be booking something between 6-7 week- end of next week.

I had light nauseas in week 4 , but since week 5 are gone .. trying to stay positive but i had nauseas all the way through with my daughter last time 😌

how are you all feeling I am 5w 2d

Sj2505 · 05/03/2026 10:24

Morning all, so nice to see all the positivity this morning!

Unfortunately, it looks like I am likely miscarrying at 5+1. I had some very period like cramps all last night, that are mildly still there this morning. I also had some light bleeding last night and this morning (brown, but more than just spotting). I have a GP appointment at 11:40. I don’t even know what I’m hoping for! Ideally scan at EPU, but doubtful! I think she’ll just tell me to go home and let my body declare itself either way - which just feels like torture. Painfully, my medichecks hCG blood tests are arriving this morning 😔 must try not to cry at the delivery person!
I will keep you all updated.

iwasgonnasay · 05/03/2026 11:28

@Sj2505 I'm so sorry you're going through this, please keep us updated when you feel up to it and make sure you look after yourself. Am keeping so much hope for you. I really hope this is just your body settling but I know you will know better than we will. Good luck xx

Ah that’s good that your pain has stopped, fingers crossed it was just things getting comfy in there🤞
I’m feeling okay at the minute, seeing the darker test is reassuring. I just can’t help but worry because although the pain isn’t constant/really painful it hasn’t stopped. I didn’t have that many symptoms anyway and my boobs don’t feel sore today and I’m not as hungry as I have been. Could just be one of those random things though 🤞 X

Sj2505 · 05/03/2026 13:43

Thank you all. I’m now at EPU, GP said she couldn’t rule out ectopic, so sent me here for assessment.

Will update you later

Hey all,

Tentatively joing this thread with a tiny bit of cautious excitement...

After a year of chemicals (6 in a row), all ending before 4 weeks with no line progression, only ever having faint positives for 2 days max before negative again, we seem to have a sticky one 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻 approaching 5 weeks, blood tests are showing my HCG went from 17.9 on Friday to 210 on Tuesday and 585 today. Had scans today and they couldn't see anything yet but they said it's too early, so going back next week for another scan. Progesterone is strong at 81, so feeling hopeful. We thought we'd lost it on Tuesday because I had a bleed, we were absolutely devastated, but that definitely wasn't the case and things are progressing well it seems! Last year was really absolutely horrendous, so here's hoping this is the time! Hope all you ladies are doing well, sending lots of love and hugs to everyone ❤️🥰

Sj2505 · 05/03/2026 17:16

Just an update from me.
had a scan at EPU, they didn’t see anything, but said that my lining is thick which is what they’d expect at 5+1. They did an hCG and booked me to go back on Saturday for repeat hCG and then go from there.
Still can’t rule out ectopic, miscarriage or normal pregnancy.
The bleeding has stopped at the moment though.

So still none the wiser, but on the road to finding out.

Thank you all for your support x

iwasgonnasay · 05/03/2026 18:07

@Sj2505 so good to hear from you, and a much better outcome as to what you were expecting this morning so I really hope it continues this way for you x
