Welcoming all those who have received their BFPs for a November bubba - congratulations to all!
I felt terrified as not really TTC #2 but thanks to support from the kind ladies of MN I’ve decided to embrace and be excited.

34, baby #2, probably keeping it a surprise(?!) mum to a 7yo DS, hoping only 1 in there as only 3 weeks today and heft symptoms already

Had my first scan at 6 weeks 5 days. Me and my husband cried our eyes out. There’s a heart beat!

@PepperPot88 this is beautiful so happy for you ❤️❤️❤️

Hi any Mums that have done this before, I got the call from the midwife yesterday booking my first regular appointment. It's not another scan, just the first one with the regular department. Does the partner normally attend those? I'm just wondering because he's been coming to the scans and anything I've been anxious about, but as this is just routine and no scan I thought I'd probably go alone to save him taking time off work. I don't want them to think it's unusual if I turn up without him though, or if he's needed to give any history or something? I didn't ask any of this on the phone as I was driving, but probably should've.

Alwaysgrowing · 27/03/2026 06:18

@DorsetGirl89 at the first 'booking appointment' with my first I did take my husband as they went through family history, so he did need to answer a couple of questions. questions. But I don't think essential, you could fill in the gaps at a later date. He was just excited. 2nd time round we did it over the phone as I had COVID. With a high temperature this early in pregnancy! But everything was ok. This is my 3rd, I'll probably go alone.

KingMungBean · 27/03/2026 09:56

I went to both of my booking in appointments alone, and I won’t bring my husband to the next one either. They ask a lot of questions, mostly about your health and family set-up. Just get a bit of your husbands family medical history including ethnicity (for any extra tests they might have to do like for sickle cell etc). They’re quite long btw, my first one was an hour and the second one was two hours (because they go through your previous birth/pregnancy and any complications).

Hi lovely. With my DD my ex didn't come to any of the midwife appointments, just the scans. I can't imagine DP will be coming to any of my midwife appointments either, it just isn't practical. Maternity rights mean work have to give the mother time off to attend pre-natal appointments, there are no such rights for partners

Dee51121 · 27/03/2026 11:17

@DorsetGirl89 thank you for your reply, I appreciate it. Sorry to hear you may have lost a twin but it's promising you've got one healthy pregnancy developing. I am 6 weeks 4 days based on my last period (but I think I ovulated around day 16-18 of my cycle so wouldn't be surprised if I was closer to 6 weeks in reality).

When I went to the toilet yesterday evening there was a more significant streak of blood in the toilet bowl. I've tried calling EPU this morning to self refer but they say they won't do any scans for at least a couple more weeks because it's too early and said they likely won't see anything. I questioned this because I went for a private early viability scan during my first pregnancy around the 6 week mark and a heartbeat was detected, but the woman I spoke to wasn't having any of it. She said bleeding can be completely normal and I just need to monitor it. I explained I'm going on holiday mid April, hoping she would be sympathetic, but she simply said to call back a couple of days before I go to see if they will scan me then. Very frustrating!

Perhaps I would get further if I went to the GP and was referred that way. Problem is I can't get an appointment at my surgery, they just send you to the urgent care/walk in centre. I was there yesterday when I had the UTI confirmed and had a very matter of fact doctor see me, so if I get someone like him again I can't see him taking up my plight.

I said I didn't want to do it, but I think I may go down the private scan route. I had a bad experience going to one with my last pregnancy as they didn't have a license to do internal scans, but I may go back to the place I went to with my first pregnancy.

ttcnumero2 · 27/03/2026 13:56

Anyone else on their second pregnancy and absolutely knocked sideways with the tiredness? Im currently sitting at work unable to keep my eyes open. I can't remember it being this bad with DS1 !!

Coffeebeforecry · 27/03/2026 14:49

Hi all!
I hope it's ok to join here. I find out im pregnant last Sunday, so my EDD is 1st of December. It's our first one, and I couldn't be more excited. Would be amazing to be around people in the same situation as we are keeping it quiet until at least 12 weeks (havent told neither family nor friends yet) , so at the moment I have no-one to talk baby things about.. :(

First appointment is really just about getting medical info/history and if im remembering correctly there’s a blood/urine test. My hubby came to the first one with me for our son, and it was nice for him to be involved but wasn’t really necessary. It’s unlikely he’ll attend more than the scan appointments this time around X

Hi, I'm so sorry, this seems really unfair. If you're getting bleeding at 6 weeks this is definitely a reason to be seen by EPU, they were scanning me from 4 weeks and no they didn't see anything the first scan but the second they could see it was in the right place and the third scan we saw a heartbeat. I had one sided pain, so maybe that raised alarm bells. I called 111 after the bleed and I suspect it was the one sided pain that got a referral because their worry was ectopic so maybe just the bleed wouldn't have concerned them? (I think the one sided pain in my case was the twin failing implantation). Are your tests still positive? It's quite strange they haven't had you in for blood tests at least to see what direction your HCG is going in, I can't see their logic behind not seeing you bleeding in pregnancy at 6 weeks! I would call 111 if I were you, they contact your GP which can force a GP appointment, and then the GP can refer you to EPU. I'm sorry you don't seem to have a very supportive medical network where you are, it's must be adding to your stress. Lots of hugs ❤️

Congrats! When are you telling people? I decided to tell anyone that I felt ok knowing if it went badly, so that helped. How are you feeling so far? Any symptoms? Big hugs and congratulations again ❤️

I'm 20dpo today (4 weeks and 6 days) I took a CB digital expecting it to say 3+ but it says 2-3! Now I'm spiralling because my HCG should be around 4000 today based on previous blood tests and the limit for the CB 3+ is supposedly around 2700.

Anyone not got the 3+ on the CB digital but still had HCG levels above the limit?

LPR16 · 28/03/2026 09:03

Try not to panic @Bluebellsfortwosometimes it can just be how diluted your urine is. I bought a pack of two, my first one was 3+ weeks and then just to use it up I took the second one a week later and it had dropped to 2-3 weeks. I spiralled but I’ve now had a 8 week scan and all is fine. I don’t think they’re entirely accurate. Have you seen if anywhere near you does private blood testing?

Bluebellsfortwo · 28/03/2026 09:06

Thanks @LPR16 I had beta HCG done two days ago and if was above 1900. That's why I feel it should be above 4000 today. Not sure if I can get bloods done so last minute today. My pee wasn't super concentrated this morning but it was fmu.

LPR16 · 28/03/2026 09:17

@BluebellsfortwoI’m sure HCG doubles every 48-72 hours, so maybe try the digital in a day or two if you can get a bloods test again

I did a digital yesterday hoping it had flipped to 3+ but it still said 2-3 so I’ve been trying not to panic! Based on LMP I was 5w yesterday but wondering if my dates are a bit out- could you have ovulated slightly later maybe? Mind reading on here suggests the digital tests are notoriously inaccurate so they’re probably causing us more anxiety 😅

Purrrrr · 28/03/2026 10:36

I’ve heard that not everybody gets a 3+ on the CB digital even in totally normal pregnancies. They’ve been banned in America!

CGR12 · 28/03/2026 20:47

I never got a 3+ on a digital with my last pregnancy and my two year old is here to tell the tale! ❤️ don’t worry about it!

Thank you!
we decided to wait until at least 3 months, somehow it feels best like this..
symptoms wise been weird, besides being exhausted all the evenings and crashing on the couch most evening, breast tenderness, nothing else really. What about you?
thank you for the congratulations and nice to feel a part of the community! Congratulations to everyone as well

I haven't told anyone. I need to tell my work, due to its nature, for a risk assessment. But I just have one more day tuesday, then I'm off for a week. So I might send an email or tell them after easter. Other times I've told work the day I got the positive test. I have felt like I need to digest it myself first, but it's so stressful, keeping it quiet and avoiding areas I shouldn't work. There's lots of mums at my work. Others on my team are more open, talking about their plans TTC, and miscarriages... but I didn't feel comfortable.

Also my manager of an small team in our department is really nice, and I worked with her today, she mentioned vague plans for the future, and I know things could be difficult. She'll be happy for me, but it would be best for everyone sooner they know. And I feel so guilty keeping it quiet, even though in other workplaces, I know it's not reviled until later.

I feel for you, however we don’t have moms at all in the workplace and even our director is against kids, so that only makes me wait longer to make sure everything is safe prior to telling anyone or even the workplace. While I understand I would like them to know as soon as possible, I think 3 months is only fair as we need our time as well to digest. I have first scans coming up end of April, which i should be around 8 weeks, so that will give a bit of reassurance hopefully. Fingers crossed 🤞🏻

Hi fellow November Mamas! I am 6 weeks and 5 days now 😊❤️🥳 Our first baby! Been very bloated since week 4, occasional cramps and sore boobs as main symptoms! I have my first appointment in Thursday and booked a private scan for Friday to make sure all is okay ! Trying to think positive but impossible not to worry that the scan will give bad news ! Wishing you all the best ! 🙏🏽❤️

Same! Currently lying in bed when I should be working. I had my first DD 5 years ago but I don’t remember it being this bad! Feel so hungry but don’t want anything. Hoping you feel better soon too!

LifeByTheSea123 · 31/03/2026 22:51

Is anyone else really struggling with food? I’m usually a real health nut and now when in the (very small) windows when I don’t feel sick, all I can stomach is crumpets and pizza 😢

ttcnumero2 · 01/04/2026 11:40

7+5 had some bleeding this morning. Pinky/red blood just when wiping mostly. Booked with doctor for bloods tomorrow and have a referral for the EPU need to see when they can see me. Didn't have any spotting or bleeding at all in my first pregnancy
