Hey everyone! Hope you have all had good weekends?

my sister has come over to stay so been nice spending time with her, we put up our Christmas decorations yesterday and today we went shopping… I did have a breakdown before we went shopping as I couldn’t find anything to wear that fitted lol 😂

@CloudyIvy55sorry to hear about the spotting, are you okay? I hope you haven’t had anymore

@Sara237@worldwidetravel2017 sorry to hear the iron tablets are rubbish ☹️ maybe it was migraine sickness though @Sara237 I get sick when I get a migraine too.

@Backtotheicsi I’m so sorry you are feeling rubbish still, I hope it gets better asap

regarding breakfeeding, I breastfed my son for about a month and I then got poorly with an injection and as I was feeling like crap (literally couldn’t move) I switched to bottle. I always regretted it though so I am planning on exclusively breastfeeding this time. @Backtotheicsi do you use TikTok? There are a few good lactation consultants on there that post good videos and as they are short I don’t find them
overwhelming. Let me know and I can share their names xx

It’s good to hear everyone’s experiences! Yes please to the TikTok videos @pastelheart that would be great. I’m trying to get as much information as possible! Xx

@pastelheart I know what you mean about the clothes situation. I'm getting maternity tights tomorrow so I can wear lots of loose dresses as I've realized most of my clothes are fitted waist which is no use anymore! Other than the clothes saga, glad you've had a nice time with your sister.
@worldwidetravel2017 Sorry to hear iron tablets making you feel rough too. I'm on ferrous fumarate 210mg x 1 a day. I just can't believe how bad I felt this morning and how sick I was. Planning to take them at night instead now...
@CloudyIvy55 Hope you're ok and managed to get some rest this weekend.
Here's to another week. I might make an alternate Christmas wishlist:
No nausea
No sickly smell of cyclogest
No panic inducing cramps/spotting
No vomiting in the kitchen sink
The perfect words to tell my son he MIGHT get a sibling for summer...
😁

CloudyIvy55 · 30/11/2025 20:19

Hey @pastelheart no more spotting since the one incident last night so I've calmed down alot. 16 week appointment on Tueaday for me... excited and nervous as I think the midwife will listen to the heartbeat!

Also I've noticed a little bump! Only small but that's also helped me relax.

Hope everyone enjoyed the weekend and here's to another week!

magpie234 · 30/11/2025 21:05

@CloudyIvy55 Relieved for you. Maybe just a bit of irritation? Our midwife listened to the heartbeat at 16 weeks. It was a bit stressful as I felt it took her a while to find it but then I learned afterwards that I have an anterior placenta so will be calmer about this next time. Is fun when the bump starts bumping! Mine has been a slow little grower but at 18 weeks it is definitely obvious in form-fitting clothes now. Update us after your scan and best of luck 😊

SarahAndQuack · 30/11/2025 21:58

I'm so glad for you @CloudyIvy55! What a relief.

@Sara237 - oh, the end of that wish list just made my heart go! I keep reminding DD it's a 'maybe'. Tentatively getting excited though - 12 weeks on Friday and statistically, I know now there's a decent chance of things being ok. Just fingers crossed!

I've had a few days of feeling really low in terms of mood and having to cheer myself along, and today I took myself out for a long walk and I felt so much better and happier.

But, oh my god, I am so, so, so looking forward to not having to do the horrible progesterone pessaries any more! Yeuch!

magpie234 · 30/11/2025 22:10

@SarahAndQuack Final pessary day is amazing! I hate them too. Nearly there? I stopped at 12.

SarahAndQuack · 30/11/2025 22:33

Grin 'Final pessary day' needs to be a thing!

Yes, nearly there - I get to stop at 12 weeks too (I guess the day before week 13?).

magpie234 · 01/12/2025 07:59

@SarahAndQuack I checked with mine and they said on the dot of 12 is fine!

pastelheart · 01/12/2025 10:15

Stopping pessaries and injections was an excellent day for me! I was bouncing around all day… my partner was like wtf is wrong with you? 😂 YOU DONT HAVE A VAGINA YOU COULDNT UNDERSTAND

so I might be mad… but I am pretty sure I am starting to feel baby move. I felt my son move really early in my first pregnancy and every now and then I can feel the same feeling I AM SO EXCITED

I was chatting to my mum last night and she reckoned she felt all three of us from about 14 weeks. My poor friend couldn't feel anything for ages because of where the placenta was!

magpie234 · 01/12/2025 11:24

@pastelheart @SarahAndQuack Exciting! I am at 18 weeks and have felt nothing so far. I would really like to for anxiety but alas I am like your friend and have an anterior placenta so it is likely to be harder for me to feel movements. Hopefully soon though!

worldwidetravel2017 · 01/12/2025 13:40

Baby girl got checked @ maternity triage today

Anyone else struggling with low feretin and low b12 ?

SarahAndQuack · 01/12/2025 15:57

Oh, that sounds scary @worldwidetravel2017. What made you go in?

I don't think I would know what low levels of those would even feel like, but probably I'm too early on!

I just got my consultant appointment - 22nd of December at 4pm for two hours! Blimey! Don't get me wrong; I'm so grateful for the amount of care the NHS takes but two hours feels really full-on.

How far along are you ?
On 22nd dec i have

  • rsv jab
  • growth scan
  • consultant appt

My feretin was only 30 something

.my b12 = 120 = very low

worldwidetravel2017 · 01/12/2025 16:31

Triage was for few,reasons
But early am i felt a different sensation

They check when change of movements

SarahAndQuack · 01/12/2025 16:36

I'm glad they checked you out and it was reassuring!

I'll be 12 weeks on Friday, so it's my first consultant appointment. I've no idea what to expect. We didn't have any of this with DD.

Ahh i dunno
We had consultant appts but they started earlier as had hematoma

Dya know why your consultant led ?

Often they go through history , check on baby etc

SarahAndQuack · 01/12/2025 16:46

41; IVF pregnancy - I think it's just standard practice. I'm really grateful; just wondering what on earth could take that long.

Im nearly 39
& ivf pregnancy

To be honest - theyll probably ask if your own eggs etc - we got asked that.
Then medical history

Then a baby check
.probably wont be 2 hrs - maybe 80 - 90 mins
But maybe they say that to manage peoples expectations or so people can tell work or such

I think it's 40 is the magic number, lucky me. They know it's not donor eggs, but I guess sensible to go through it again.

If anyone has actually had one, I'd love to know what it's for, just so I can prepare a bit.

magpie234 · 01/12/2025 18:29

I also have an obstetrician consultant appt (on NYE) and am not sure why. I have just turned 36 so I assume is only down to it being an ivf pregnancy. I would also like to know what happens at this.

Nosejug · 02/12/2025 08:12

Yeah I’ve got a consultant led appointment on 11th. I’m assuming this is the same thing? It doesn’t say how long but I’ll be 11+5 and a nurse yesterday said this would be my dating scan. Or is it normal to have a consultant do that?
