I'm 18 weeks today - put on some flubber due to eating beige food only and not being able to exercise for about 6 weeks due to nausea in first trimester 😅 but no bump yet. Pretty sure I'm feeling more solid under the flub though so I reckon I should be sporting a little bump in the next couple of weeks.

No movements for me - I know I've got an anterior placenta so not expecting any. Had an extra doppler check from the midwife today and bub was moving all over the place, from back to front, kicking the Doppler etc 🤣

Also got a call this morning to rebook my consultant appointment...for this afternoon! So had a busy day but productive. I have to have an echo done (whenever cardiology fit me in!) because of existing medical issues, and have to have a gestational diabetes test at 28 weeks and additional growth scans at 32 and 36 weeks. Very productive appointment overall.

Now mentally preparing to tell my boss when I see her in person on Tuesday....I started the job when I was already pregnant but didn't know if it would stick, so not looking forward to the conversation but needs to be done, especially with all these extra appointments!

I get the anxiety telling your boss, I had the same started my new role April had to tell them May I was pregnant. Only told them so early as I had been so ill then was signed off work. Still signed off. I’m sure your boss will understand! Xx

dubkitten · 08/08/2025 08:47

I actually told my boss the day after I found out as they were aware I was undergoing IVF and have been very supportive

Jadeypie · 08/08/2025 11:09

@Moosey898 oh sounds very productive!! Its definitely time to tell the boss with all your upcoming appointments. Im sure all will be fine and you'll feel like a weight has been lifted xx

I’ve had such bad lower backache the last couple days. Had to put pregnancy belt on today to help. I don’t remember the first time round having backache this early 😅

All of this last time was at least 3rd trimester! 😅 I’m 18 weeks tomorrow and already showing. No hiding that I’m pregnant anymore. With my son again didn’t have a bump until 25/28 weeks! Xx

Today was the end of my first week back to work, I work an office based job from home and I actually cried due to how exhausted I feel. I cannot keep this up for another 20 weeks.

I’m sorry to hear how exhausted you’ve felt first week back at work, is there any chance they could do a phased return to help? When you due to go on maternity?

Its hard working pregnant! You dont realise how hard till it happens. I was in lockdown with my first so its been a real eye opener this time round. Im management in retail, I have broke my breaks up so I get to sit more and I have really took my foot off the gas because im just knackered. 12 o'clock is my hitting a wall stage. Someone said on this thread they have naps in their break, is that somthing you could do? Just think 20 weeks isn't actually that far away, you'll soon be at the end and be thinking I've done it! It is hard and I do sympathise xxx

Thank you - I think it is available, but I’m not sure on impact on pay. I’m moving house in the next two months so cash is tight with all the bills associated so really can’t afford to loose out on pay.

God I don’t know how you are doing retail being on your feet a lot. I do take breaks but I don’t want them thinking im taking the piss. I was off sick for most of my pregnancy last time - I had HG, then lost my brother then was placed on bed rest due to IGUR so I had a lot of rest and no toddler in tow 😂

I’m just feeling really sorry for myself but also annoyed because I’ve been given a great bit of work to do before going off on leave which would show my credibility to the new boss.

Maybe see if they do it half hours full pay. I know my work have suggested that when I come back in 2 weeks. I totally get not being able to miss out on money though especially with moving! X

When is everyone planning to start maternity leave? I'm aiming for 19th Dec (due 12th Jan). I'm already thinking of options for coming back to work, is anyone else? I'm sure my work would want me back full time, but I dont know how i feel about it. I'm going to be visiting a nursery soon and find out fees, then work out what is the best option financially and go from there. If I can do compressed hours (5 days work in 4 days) I have a feeling that'll work out better. Will be long days for the baby at nursery though, the guilt is already setting in 😂

RealTealQueen · 09/08/2025 15:31

Just been for a gender scan! It’s a boy 🩵 x

I’m looking to start 1st December (due 10th jan) I have holiday to take beforehand. Then hoping to go back the following November. If I could afford it I would do 4 days but not sure yet if able to.

I am planning to work until we finish up for the Christmas break on 23rd December and hopefully taking the full year off. I will go back full time when I return
