Hi!

Just thought i’d start a thread as I know a few of us have found out we are expecting! Would love to hear everyone’s stories to start us off as I know December feels soooo far away yet!

I’ll go first, I already have one child, he is 6 years old Smile Totally did not plan to have anymore once me and his dad split, I was one and done. However, years on met my current other half and I just knew straight away I had a change of heart. We started trying 18 months ago with negatives every month, later finding out there was infertility on both our sides. We moved in together January this year after deciding we would give IVF a try once we were settled in new GPs etc, only to find out we were pregnant! This came to an abrupt end 3 days later where we had what’s known as a chemical pregnancy. Absolutely heartbroken I had half given up, what were the chances we would fall pregnant again so soon after so long of nothing?

Well, here we are, after only 1 cycle later, pregnant again! Hopefully this time is different for us, it definetly feels different! Grin

@Suburbandreams thank you. I am trying to get to see my GP but can't get an appointment. Hope you are starting to feel better? I can't imagine the toll carrying multiples, my body is struggling with one.

DogsandDungarees · 03/10/2025 09:00

Has anyone else’s pregnancy exhaustion come back ! I was fine second trimester but now I am so tired and my legs and feet hurt all I want to do is sit on the sofa when I finish work

I actually have seemed to turn a corner to be fair. Like you I had an episode at the hospital- it was at a growth scan and and then again during the gestational diabetes test! I’ve seen my GP and a private cardiologist and the advise is basically management of symptoms until they are born. So sitting down, resting, listening to my body etc. Most meds aren’t ok for use in pregnancy and POTs is still relatively under investigated.

Have you had your iron and folate levels tested? Supplements have definitely helped I think!

It’s exhausting but it’s going to be so worth it that’s all I keep telling myself 🥹

30 weeks!

Bloods are back but haven't been published to my portal so I'm not sure what they are. Assuming they are fine as not had any contact except from the diabetes team as I have GDM! That certainly explains why I've been feeling so rough.

They've brought my scan forward by 2 days - not actually helpful for me as now Mr PomBear now can't get the time off work. The diabetes midwife really upset me on Thursday, 4 days after diagnosis gave me a telling off for having my sugars out of target. Wouldn't listen to me when I said I had food that can't be wasted and told me off for not attending a 2 hour dietician meeting in the middle of the day (ya know I work right!?) I eventually sent a bit of a ranty email and what I haven't told them is my previous role to the one I currently have was the Diabetes Matron at the local hospital. I am pretty sure I will be ok and know what to do/who to contact. Whilst it's not the same as adult diabetes, getting tight glycaemic control can be difficult and GDM is driven by hormones and the placenta and not food. Considering how much they've annoyed me I've asked the MIL to come to my appointment with me to try and take my temper 🤣 all they had to do was ask me if I knew much about GDM and whether my diet could impact and I would have told them the whole story.

Anyway apart from that, baby is doing well. I've had a few bad episodes of trapped wind/indigestion that's ended in vomiting (new trigger to weeing myself!!) but starting to feel a bit more human. Covid has finally cleared off and I've moved my mat leave forward by 2 weeks. I have 4 weeks left and one of those is annual leave 😱 this time is flying now!

Hope everyone is well xxx

Anyone else just really uncomfortable all the time? I'm 30 weeks and bump has POPPED today. I struggle walking the dog, it hurts, I get out of breath and need a wee within 15 minutes of leaving the house.
Currently sat in my office at work and baby's kicking away, my hips hurt, I feel so heavy and I just can't get comfortable. I only have 3 weeks left at work luckily but honestly I'm so ready to be done with pregnancy.

God yes - 33 weeks this week and I feel like over the last 2 weeks my bump has popped and I'm so tired all the time! Everything is uncomfortable and I'm farting like a farm animal 😂

GlowWorm89 · 21/10/2025 15:59

@emzlyz@McNicola same here. I’m 31 weeks today and I can’t get comfortable, especially when trying to sleep. Not too bad during the day but sleeping or even sitting on the train for an hour is like a torture. I keep finding myself on the sofa with all the cushions placed very carefully in the selected places to get some sleep. And going to the toilet is another story! I never thought one can go so often! I haven’t even but my MAT leave request in yet as my company allows you to request it 28 days before you want to start. So I’ll but mine in soon. But I recon I’ve got good 5 weeks left 😳 not sure how I’ll manage 🫣
but all the best! We can do this 💪

I'm out of breath doing the school run, feeling a bit fat and lazy but I stopped exercising because I kept getting spotting which has thankfully stopped now.
I also need to pee every time I think about it! Whenever we go anywhere now we have to be within a hour of a toilet and I go basically any chance I get. Blush
Thankfully sleep hasn't been too bad, my sister gave me a dream genie pillow and although I didn't love it at first it's a lifesaver now I'm used to it. Due date 28 Dec. ❤️

I've been in hospital for the last week. Discharged yesterday. Had really bad vomiting last weekend and went to get checked over as was worried about my sugar readings. Turns out baby has caused gallstones and I have had cholescystitis. They sent me home last Wednesday and I collapsed again Thursday morning in pain, vomiting and my blood pressure dropped to 60. Admitted back to ED for treatment and have since had IV fluids, I've antibiotics and now back on orals.
They can't do anything, every time baby moves he jiggles the gallstones around and I get pain/vomiting. I can take oromorph if needed but don't want to because of the side effects so have tried to manage on paracetamol and codeine but I am totally done with this pregnancy now. If they had told me they would induct this week and get him out I would have rolled with it but they want him to cook for another 7-8 weeks (whilst I suffer) and then I still need to wait a further 8 weeks until surgeons will take out my gallbladder.

To say I am miserable is an understatement.

Oh that doesn't sound fun.

I hope the next 7-8 weeks go quickly for you.

Aww, bless you! Thats sounds awful. Hopefully next few weeks will go quick for you. How are you managing with your gestational diabetes?

i’m 33 weeks in 2 days! My sugar levels have been high despite strict diet so I’m now on metformin and insulin injections. Continue to lose weight however baby is doing well and my bump is growing so no concerns.

I also had a trip to A&E two weeks ago where they found few blood clots in my leg. So now also on blood thinning injections. Every time I get out of breath I’m paranoid its blood clot in my lungs but I think its just pregnancy.

Last week my consultant advised induction at 38 weeks so there is a possibility I’ll end up having a November baby. I really loved the idea of December baby especially with my partner’s birthday on the 7th December. I had to move my mat leave 2 weeks earlier tho and I’ve been feeling heavy and tired so looking forward to that.

CheeryPombear · 22/10/2025 08:30

Thank you everyone.

I'm managing the diabetes ok now I am home but it was a struggle in hospital. There was no diabetes or renal low fat diet available and they kept offering me starchy or spicy foods. I had quite a few hypos as just couldn't eat at all.

I'm hoping I can get off the codeine before baby comes as I know it can affect breastfeeding and I have an appointment with my community midwife today and with my consultant next week. I'm tempted to swing the idea of induction at 36 weeks and see what they say.

Baby Pombear doesn't seem phased by any of this, he's growing well, the midwives at the hospital have said my bump is all baby and they can feel him everywhere. He's wriggly and jiggly and I've noticed when Daddy talks he gets excited now. Just wish he wouldn't kick the gallbladder 😂

DogsandDungarees · 22/10/2025 16:58

Also struggling ! 32 weeks out of breath. Sciatica and coccyx pain now !

Pinkstuffs · 22/10/2025 19:47

In 30 weeks, still have 7 weeks at work! I’m finding it so hard as I also have an 18 month old. Lifting him is getting harder! My work is also really full on atm, I’ve been working 12 hour days ant my desk and still can’t sleep at night as I struggle to switch off.

CheeryPombear · 23/10/2025 04:02

We had a midwife check up. Fundal height measurement has dropped from 80th to under 50th percentile. In for an emergency scan today. Midwife has said baby was very low in my pelvis and that it's likely I've lost weight with being ill. Makes me very nervous.

Oh no, fingers crossed everything is okay - if it's any help I had the same thing happen with my son (was measuring well over 99th centile with fundal height measurements but then started to drop). Had some scans and he was fine, they said fundal height measurements can be really unreliable. They kept doing growth scans until he was born and they were more reliable than fundal height measurements so hopefully Baby Pombear is fine 🤞🏻

This happened to me in my last pregnancy and my baby was actually born very small at 39 weeks (5lb 10oz) but he was and is perfectly healthy! Nearly 18 months old now and almost caught up for height although he is slim.

CheeryPombear · 24/10/2025 08:35

Quick update: Baby Pombear is fine, measuring pretty much as previously, big boy on 80th percentile and current weight estimated at 3lb 5oz, seems its Mummy which has lost weight which considering my diet currently and being so sick I am not surprised.
The consultant was lovely, she gave lots of reassurance and said not to worry about my blood sugars too much, I need to keep on top of the gallbladder pain and ensure I'm eating and that because of the restrictions on my diet now it's unlikely to be unhealthy food anyway. I've had a few glucose spikes but I know what's caused them and I'm managing small meals of porridge made with water, chicken salad or chicken and veg. Tried salmon yesterday and ended in pain so that's going to have to wait a little longer. At least I'm now making it through most of the night without painkillers.

Mama09876 · 24/10/2025 16:23

Gosh i feel such the same and it’s so nice to hear everyone else in similar positions. Sorry you ladies that are really having a difficult time! Not long now and the end is near.

Feel fortunate that this pregnancy like the first seems to be all good and a breeze. Only couple of issues were growth scans, measuring too small 🙄 but you take them with a pinch of salt as I’m tall and relatively slim I think the baby is hidden in well. The scans came back all fine anyway.

33 weeks tomorrow and defo feeling much bigger! The breathing is a struggle 😂 and just looking forward to finishing work now. 5 weeks today 🙌🏻

Not prepared in the slightest with this 2nd started buying some bits and pieces yesterday but really need to get a move on! Much more relaxed 2nd time round 😂

Pinkstuffs · 24/10/2025 20:43

This is my second baby too and I’ve barely prepared anything! Got DS’s clothes out of the loft last weekend and sorted through them, quite a few are more stained than I first thought so may need to buy some new bits. We’ve also just moved our DS into a new room so baby can have his bedroom and he’s struggling with the transition a bit.

Is anyone REALLY struggling with sleep? I’m only getting a few hours each night. I have terrible restless legs and just get so uncomfortable.

CheeryPombear · 25/10/2025 03:42

@Pinkstuffs it's 3am and I'm awake again! Multiple trips to the loo and finding I feel sick at this time. A few times its been low blood sugars but also baby is awake and kicking.

God yes, sleep is shit. No comfortable way to sleep, pregnancy pillow does naff all, and I feel like throwing my husband out the window when he's blissfully snoring away 🤣

IcyLimeSwan · 28/10/2025 04:17

Wide awake here (clock changes haven’t helped 🤪) …she’s currently kicking me in the ribs AND has hiccups so making me rather uncomfortable at the moment 🥰😂 anyone have any binge worthy series or movie recommendations? Start mat leave at the end of this week and I’m making a list!

CheeryPombear · 28/10/2025 04:30

@IcyLimeSwan I'm a huge Outlander fan and just started Blood of my Blood. Also enjoyed Shetland which is totally different.
