I’m petrified. Both my previous pregnancies I was told at my routine dating scan ‘I’m sorry there’s no heartbeat’. Both times I’d had a positive early scan at 8 weeks and no bleeding / cramping.

I don’t know how I’ll cope if it happens a 3rd time. Friends keep announcing their pregnancies to me. How do I cope?

So pleased for you - went through this 5 times myself before my second child was born (6ft 3.5 now and a huge bundle of mummy’s boy at 16). I carry those losses with me and felt robbed of the joy of that pregnancy. Please talk to your midwife and make sure you have emotional support during your pregnancy and afterwards.

5 losses is heartbreakingly unfair 💔 I am so glad you did get your take home children, but what a journey to go on. Thank you for your message x

I utterly can’t believe it but scan went well. Baby alive and measurements on track. Thank you so much to you all for posting,
it really helped. And glad to leave this post here to give others hope - after two heartbreaking experiences I couldn’t believe it could go well this time, but it did 💗 still a long way to go of course but taking this as a huge win xx

what wonderful news!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️

Thank you so much @Objectiontime
Sorry to hear of your own troubles. I think until you go through fertility struggles and/or pregnancy worries we don't fully appreciate how stressful and emotional a journey it is. I'm wishing you lots of luck for your next time🥰

Absolutely. I MC 12 yrs and not a day goes by that I don't think about it.

ChocolateAddictAlways · 09/01/2025 17:38

So pleased for you OP! All the best for the rest of the pregnancy! I know anxiety and previous loss can make it hard to enjoy pregnancy but I really hope you can enjoy it and savour the incoming lovely second trimester.

ladyluck13 · 09/01/2025 17:44

I'm so very happy for you that it went well. I can commiserate as I had 5 losses, over 5 years including a missed miscarriage before welcoming my daughter. I dealt with excruciating worry throughout my whole pregnancy also, but that's to be expected and there is help out there if you're the same, just ask. I wish you all the very best, congratulations.

GreatFish · 09/01/2025 17:54

Hope everything goes well.xxx

🤗 easier said than done if I tell you to think positive in the run up to the scan, I have been there and people telling me that made no difference to the fear I had.

Practically and worst case scenario..... if it's the worst outcome make sure you are referred to the recurrent miscarriage clinic.

Best case scenario baby will be just fine and you will get through this pregnancy and everything will be just fine.

I had 3 miscarriages, while waiting for the referral to recurrent miscarriage clinic I got pregnant, carried to 30 weeks but unfortunately my daughter didn't survive labour........... BUT
I now have an 11 year old daughter who they told me I was miscarrying as heavy bleeding and low HCG, but she is bigger than me and very bouncy lol. I also have a 10 year old daughter who is perfectly healthy.

I guess my advice is hope for the best, because it could well all be fine. But I really really understand your fear and that nothing anyone says can take that away. I really hope all goes well at your scan ❤️

Only just found this thread so I’m a bit late but just wanted to say congratulations on your news yesterday. Wonderful. I couldn’t ignore your post as almost exactly 8 years ago (same day as Trump’s first inauguration actually!) I was in a similar position. 12 week scan in my 4th pregnancy after losing my 3rd at 16 weeks. It’s so scary.

In my case DH and I had a voucher for afternoon tea up the Shard and we said we’d celebrate after the scan but obviously just not go if there was any bad news. Best afternoon tea ever! I often think of it all at this time of year. You’re never the same after losses are you?

I also remember vividly opening the email with the blood test results a little later in February, another heart-stopping milestone. That was also positive news thankfully. He’s now 7 and the absolute light of my life (along with my other two of course).

Wishing you all the best with the rest of the pregnancy, you deserve all the luck in the world and I really hope you get it.

I skipped down to this comment and breathed a huge sigh of relief!!! So pleased for you everything was ok 💐💐💜💜💪🏻🍀

Maray1967 · 10/01/2025 08:43

So pleased for you. My two DSs are my first and fifth pregnancies - in terms of confirmed pregnancies, but I also had two very late and heavy periods -5/6 days late- which the miscarriage consultant said might well have been early mcs as well so I may have had five losses. I was almost 40 when I conceived DS2 with poor ovarian function - terrible ivf results years before - so I suppose there can be a happy outcome even in what seem pretty hopeless circumstances.
