I’m petrified. Both my previous pregnancies I was told at my routine dating scan ‘I’m sorry there’s no heartbeat’. Both times I’d had a positive early scan at 8 weeks and no bleeding / cramping.

I don’t know how I’ll cope if it happens a 3rd time. Friends keep announcing their pregnancies to me. How do I cope?

So pleased for you - went through this 5 times myself before my second child was born (6ft 3.5 now and a huge bundle of mummy’s boy at 16). I carry those losses with me and felt robbed of the joy of that pregnancy. Please talk to your midwife and make sure you have emotional support during your pregnancy and afterwards.

Excellent news. My third time lucky is nearly 25 but I still remember the stress and worry during those first few months. Have a lovely evening and look after yourself.

I utterly can’t believe it but scan went well. Baby alive and measurements on track. Thank you so much to you all for posting,
it really helped. And glad to leave this post here to give others hope - after two heartbreaking experiences I couldn’t believe it could go well this time, but it did 💗 still a long way to go of course but taking this as a huge win xx

@Dalmatian0 So very, very happy for you. I've had an MMC too, although only once (plus 2 Chemicals) and I really felt your anxiety when I read your original post. This is fantastic news .

Clariceamelia · 08/01/2025 19:06

Overjoyed for you ! Long may everything go fantastically !

Handholding!

I have 2 weeks to go for my 12 week scan. I have 1 son, no other pregnancies. However, I went for an early scan last month and the embryo was measuring nearly 2 weeks behind, so I am preparing myself for bad news too.
🤞for us both

@Squidtentacles - Just wanted to say I will be thinking of you. Hope things go better for you. Pregnancy is so horrendously scary for many of us. I have no children yet and will be on medication next time i conceive, which may or not work. It's just so stressful and worrying. Sending hugs and Hooe.

ChristmasKelpie · 08/01/2025 19:13

Overjoyed for you x

mcmooberry · 08/01/2025 19:21

Didn't see your post before now to be worried but so happy about your good news! xx

Squidtentacles · 08/01/2025 19:30

Thank you so much @Objectiontime
Sorry to hear of your own troubles. I think until you go through fertility struggles and/or pregnancy worries we don't fully appreciate how stressful and emotional a journey it is. I'm wishing you lots of luck for your next time🥰

Moonshinebaby · 08/01/2025 19:31

This is wonderful news.

I don't know you, but this gave me a genuine smile while dealing with 3 nagging kids.

Oh my goodness, five miscarriages. I had one myself, and that was heartbreaking, I can't imagine going through it five times. So sorry for your losses, @CautiousLurker01, and I know a part of you will never get over it, but how wonderful that you have your big, bouncing boy now.

DH is coming with me. He couldn’t come the second time as he had Covid, which wasn’t great!

I feel like I should feel something in my stomach now? It’s completely flat and soft and normal. I know it’s early for a bump but at least a hardening, or some weight gain only I would notice? Is this normal? I’m 12+0.

I didn’t gain an ounce until 20 weeks and then the pregnancy started to show!

Great news. My dad had her 12 week scan today so I can totally imagine the anxiety

Laura36TTC · 08/01/2025 20:33

Congratulations xx

Squidtentacles · 08/01/2025 17:25

So genuinely thrilled for you! I kept checking back hoping for the positive update!
I don't see how I could possibly be wrong as I know when my period was, have regular cycles (on the shorter side rather than longer) and I know I ovulated at the average stage in my cycles (around day 13) as I was tracking ovulation. I had lots of bleeding with my son, which thankfully turned out to be nothing worrying. None this time, saw a heartbeat at our early scan, but measuring so far behind. I'm trying not to stress but not getting my hopes up either.

I hope you can relax a bit now and enjoy your pregnancy!

Edited

Wishing you all the best squidtentacles, early pregnancy and any surprises on scans can be just so nerve wracking, especially if you’ve had to deal with things like bleeding in the past. It is positive to have seen a heartbeat. I’ll be thinking of you x
