Eek so close! Good luck with it. Look forward to the updates. This group has been so helpful. Makes me feel a lot less alone! I'm not doing NCT or anything as it's baby number 3 so really nice to have this community x

Redapple21 · 22/01/2025 09:13

Oh wow it sounds like we could see some babies arriving today! Good luck ladies!

@SBelfast good luck with your C-section! Please update us when you can xx

Piluka · 22/01/2025 09:32

@OrangeSlices998 How's baby? We haven't heard from you in a while! 😊

@Cheeseandcrackers123 wow! What turn of events!! I hope everything goes fine for you both!! ❤️❤️❤️

@OnePinkSloth any update? Did they started the induction? I hope it went fine. ❤️❤️❤️

@SBelfast woooo!!! I wish you the best and a smooth recovery after the section. ❤️❤️❤️

elb1504 · 22/01/2025 09:38

Good luck @SBelfast @OnePinkSloth look forward to hearing baby news!

Pretty crappy sleep here too, even when I think I've had a decent sleep I wake up feeling exhausted! Last day at work for me today so daytime napping is going to be essential for next few days I think! I can't wait to not have to sleep on my side!

UrbanSquirrel · 22/01/2025 09:50

Oh gosh, good luck today @Cheeseandcrackers123 and @SBelfast! Sending the best of vibes to both of you, and of course continued good vibes to @OnePinkSloth

We're almost there, gang!

And wow @QuantumPanic what a week! Huge congratulations on your wedding and, as you say, it sounds like very efficient planning just in case of an early arrival 😉 Hope you have a wonderful day xxx

@Hhdxx I recommend binge watching TV series if you can 😉 Got through the whole of Slow Horses, which is great, and just started For All Mankind. Agree that everything is starting to drag just a little bit... xxx

Wow. This chat is getting really exciting now. 🤗
@OnePinkSloth @SBelfast hope the day unrolls smoothly. How exciting.
@Cheeseandcrackers123 plot twist. I don’t really know but isn’t it good though to get to 3cm without much pain? Maybe it would mean that the rest of it would be not too horrible either? Wait are you gonna be going for eCS or vaginal. I’m a bit confused horrible at keeping track of everyone. 🫣

For us it’s 37 weeks today and feels like a big milestone. I can now be admitted in the “salle nature” at the hospital when labour starts (if it’s free). This is a basically a room with a bathtub and equipment that help with managing pain if you don’t take the epidural. I don’t really have my mind set on anything but would be nice to take some baths and enjoy not being on a hospital bed for the start even if I decide to move to a normal room and take the epidural after if pain becomes too much. Not really sure what to expect as it’s my first birth. 🤷🏻‍♀️

Also girls add me to the fed-up sleep club. Last night got up 4 times to pee and was having tightenings too which contribute to my need to pee. And the most fed-up thing of all is that in the morning after my last sleeping attempt I wake up horny which in any other circumstance would be nice but now I feel so confused with it 😂 I don’t feel like I can enjoy it as I know it stimulates more tightenings for me after. Pregnancy is a weird journey.

CarrotySnack · 22/01/2025 17:41

Goodness me, @QuantumPanic - have a lovely wedding!! And good luck to those for whom things have started already!

I don't know about anyone else, but while I always tell myself astrology surely has to be a load of nonsense, a little part of my mind is like 'ooh we're in aquarius now' 😂... It's hard to resist when it's practically the only thing I know about the wee LO apart from the fact they're male.

UrbanSquirrel · 22/01/2025 18:08

@CarrotySnack I was so chuffed when I realised that MiniSquirrel was going to be Aquarius (I'm one). I may be biased but it's an awesome star sign. Things are still up in the air about the Chinese horoscope though (with which my MIL is obsessed; no one's sure why). I think changeover for that is next week and it's either snake or dragon, or something like that...

OP posts:
Redapple21 · 22/01/2025 18:11

@UrbanSquirrel funny you mention that, DH spotted today that Chinese new year is 29th Jan - our section date! Apparently it's a change from dragon to snake xx

UrbanSquirrel · 22/01/2025 18:12

Congratulations on the 37 week mark @Kumquat89! That's exciting that you have the freedom of the birth centre facilities now. I hope you get the chance to enjoy the pools as and when 😊

Poor you about the interrupted sleep though - and the horniness! 😂 Sex is meant to be good for inducing labour but God the very thought of anything like that at the moment is just way too much for me. I can't even get up the stairs in one go, let alone anything more extravagant 🤣 x

OP posts:
UrbanSquirrel · 22/01/2025 18:16

@Redapple21 Ah yes, I remember now the changeover is the day after our date! Wow, I can't believe we're both so close 😧 Hope you're enjoying these last few days of comparative peace 🤗

I genuinely don't know how to feel at the moment. I haven't had any symptoms unlike many of the gang here, which I'm pleased about, as I would appreciate it if MiniSquirrel could just hang on in there - but I just feel like I'm waiting in limbo! xxx

My goodness, I’ve missed loads!!!
@QuantumPanic congratulations!!
@SBelfast @Cheeseandcrackers123 @OnePinkSloth I hope everything goes smoothly and can’t wait for updates 😻.

For me it still feels quite far away as I’m still working until 31st Jan! It feels weird to be at work and I’m counting down the days (7 working days left).
I have 2.5 weeks minimum until my section as well. I have been nesting but other than that I’ve been feeling ok this week! As I went to hospital 3 times for reduced movements I am now on monitoring twice a week at the hospital. Had a cheeky extra growth scan and baby was 7lbs 1 oz on Monday 😻. I’m ready to meet him and excited but also so so scared I’ll be a bad mum. Mix of emotions here.

Piluka · 22/01/2025 18:58

I had my consultant appointment today (they changed the day) and the consultant was a little bit "what do you want" kind of experience. I told her about the decress of the percentils from the last 2 scans. She was not concerned however, she booked me for another scan next week + consultant.

The doctor was very shocked when I told her I didn't had any consultant appointment after any of the scans and she was a little bit demanding me why I didn't (I felt she was telling me it was my fault) she checked and (again) on the system showed no-one booked me in for a consultation. She also said I could raise this to whoever I should if I want to as apparently is very unusual and it shouldn't be like that because they are growth scans. I don't know what to do... To be honest. I think the importance is the baby is fine and healthy and I don't want to harm anyone at their job.

We're having our C-section on the 28th so baby is going to sneak in as a dragon. 😁 My family celebrates CNY and it's a bit of a shame to miss the festivities but oh well, so excited about next week.

I know that you don’t want to cause trouble for anyone in their job, however I do think you should raise this. This is negligent practice which could have led to something serious happen. I think the hospital needs to have it brought to their attention so that they never let this happen again as the next woman and the next baby may not be okay and missing consultations may be detrimental to their health. Please raise it so they fix it.

Thanks all - very reassuring to know not just me on movements front.

Slight turn of events here… came for pre booked growth scan this afternoon. All looking good - 75th percentile, head down etc. However whilst in waiting room I said to my DH that I was getting like mild contraction pains and it was pretty uncomfy during scan.

Anyway, as we were here I thought I’d get checked again and turns out they were actual contractions and I’m 3cm dilated 🤯.

So now been admitted and was told DS2 could be here imminently and my DH shouldn’t go too far etc. I was really upset about not seeing DS1 so DH brought him for a quick hot chocolate which made me feel a lot better. I also feel much calmer being 36 weeks this time when DS1 came at 32.

Anyway since all that excitement things have calmed down a bit. Contractions easing off so have sent DH home for sleep and will see tomorrow I guess if it was a false alarm and, if so, what they want to do about it….

Oh wow, the timing!! All the best of luck if labour does stick!

Hello, it's been a stressful day for us. Baby was delivered at 11.45 beautiful boy, but he's had some breathing issues, went into incubator, then got started on IV antibiotics and now is being looked after in neonatal and having air flow, drip etc for blood sugar which is good. My husbands with him, I'm on a different floor till I can move.
The staff are lovely they said if it gets too much they'll get me up there but I don't want to cause a hassle as I've have to have one of them assigned to take me up and stay.
Think this is combination of fact he's early 37 & 3 and PPROM condition (hence antibiotics).

C-section, I was extremely nervous going in, so asked for sedation and got drugs to help me relax. Asked for it to be topped up twice as was so nervous first two doses didn't really do much but in end I was fairly chilled. Would definitely recommend that if your nervous made a big difference for me and helped me move from terrified mess to enjoying the experience and skin to skin. In hindsight hardest bit of procedure was cannula in hand and spinal block. I don't think I got a local for hand cannula would recommend 100% asking for one but if not it's sore but over in 10 seconds.

Xo

Redapple21 · 22/01/2025 21:28

@SBelfast ahh congratulations! So glad your baby is here. Sorry to hear you've had a stressful day and he's needing some help bless him. Sounds like you're all being well looked after and hopefully he improves really soon and you can be with him xx big hugs xx

@UrbanSquirrel yes so close now !! I had a few cramps last week but they've gone and now I feel nothing haha. I had to be induced at 41 weeks last time so I'm just happy to be booked in at 39 weeks this time as the thought of another 3 weeks from this stage would be really difficult. Time certainly is dragging now, but at the same time it feels surreal she will be here in a week!! Xx

sohomum18 · 22/01/2025 21:29

@SBelfast congratulations on your baby boy ❤️ that sounds incredibly stressful and it’s difficult to imagine what you’ve been through today being away from your baby following the surgery. Do you know when you will be able to get up and about? How are you feeling in yourself physically at the moment? Sending you lots of best wishes and hope you are able to be with your baby very soon, and that he starts to recover too xx

ThisLimeDeer · 22/01/2025 21:30

@SBelfast congratulations on your baby boy, I hope you get to be with him soon ♥️

Huge congratulations on your beautiful boy! It sounds so stressful for you, but also like they have everything under careful watch at your hospital. Hopefully you can move floors to be closer soon 🤞 How are you feeling with the C section recovery?

UrbanSquirrel · 22/01/2025 21:36

Massive congratulations @SBelfast although I'm sorry to hear about the added stress of your little boy being apart from you. But very glad that MrBelfast is there with him, and hope you are able to get up there very soon. Thanks for the feedback on your c section, which is so good to know. Sending lots of hugs as you heal, and remember, well done you! You've had the most dramatic time of it the last couple of months, and now you can rest and relax and soon you'll be home with your little one. What a day! xxx

@Mamma3456 Ah, great, so (assuming we don't get bumped) we'll have a little dragon too then! My MIL was telling me about the various characteristics and I have to admit dragons sounded very impressive. Too bad you'll miss out on the NY fun, but maybe you can get your family to do you a delayed festive meal when you get home?

Very best of luck for Tuesday! I think that's three of us at least lined up for the 28th - you, me and @elb1504 I think? xxx

Congrats @SBelfast ! Sorry to hear about the stress and that your wee one has needed some extra support, but fingers crossed he's feeling better soon and you both get well looked after xx
