Here the same about no pattern and lately the baby decided to be very quiet during the night and massively active at day. Somehow she was bored about this and turned back at being quite active at night. Saying so, it doesn't mean I wake up at night (pregnancy insomnia) and I don't feel her for a while and start panicking until she gave me a big spasm movement that leaves me knocked down. Honestly, I think my partner is not her dad and while having fun with him and having the lights off a martial arts expert joined the "party". Lol!!!! Hahahaha it's the only explanation. I have anterior placenta and feeling her kicks that way I cannot imagine if I had the placenta on another place. She would have destroyed me long ago. Hahaha.

Anyway, @retrievermum you are mega brave to do so. Imagine at the wedding you start labour. That would be a story to remember by all the guests. 😊

Just seen the midwife for my last appointment before baby is here 37+2 and baby is 0/5 not engaged at all yet but at the brink of it and is in my pelvis so he's close to starting! Induction booked for 39+0.
Is anyone else's baby not engaged yet? Want to meet my little man already 🥹

I meant 5/5

retrievermum · 21/01/2025 14:47

@apple67cherry its quite common for babies not to engage until labour starts so don’t panic about this! I think they say they tend to engage a week or two before labour but can happen later!

Mine was 3/5 engaged at my last appointment, but I’m seeing the consultant on Thursday and I’m 99% confident they’ll be declared not engaged at all!

Don’t panic, when it comes to childbirth, I think they pretty much do what they want 😂

@Piluka I’m wearing a black dress to disguise any potential waters/mucus plug/bloody show stains 😂 conveniently the venue is about three minutes drive from the hospital so actually it would be great timing!

elb1504 · 21/01/2025 16:00

I've had my last consultant appointment at 39 weeks and scan to check baby. She still has a huge belly and is estimated 8lbs 4oz 🙈 I don't feel like I'm carrying an 8lb baby, my DS was born 10 days overdue at 8lbs so I just can't imagine baby is already bigger!

1 week until section date unless she decided to come before then, I'm now hoping she doesn't arrive of her own accord as I've kinda got my head around having a section!

UrbanSquirrel · 21/01/2025 16:05

Fingers crossed for you @elb1504! (As your section date twin, I am hoping exactly the same.) Sounds like your little one is wonderfully healthy and robust - and as long as her weight isn't causing you too much discomfort, then that's lovely news. At least she'll be leaving via the sunroof, as it were 😉

Best of luck in the final week! I sent round a video of The Final Countdown to the parent / in laws chat this morning... 😬 x

Also for those talking about night movements i don't get many at all when I'm awake in the night, might occasionally roll over and feel something but it's evening time sat watching TV she comes alive!

@retrievermum Great idea having a spa day on due date, time to relax. And the wedding will be a good distraction and something to celebrate!

Padronpeppersplease · 21/01/2025 17:13

Is anyone else just feeling really, really low at the moment? I think mainly it’s because I’m not sleeping well at all, honestly get about 2 hours a night and this has been going on for ages, but also because I’m still working until the end of the month and it’s January and freezing all the time and I just feel like every day is Groundhog Day. I feel guilty like I should be excited but honestly I don’t feel like I’m able to feel anything at all with this lack of sleep than frustration, I’m being very short tempered with everyone and can’t seem to help it and it terrifies me that it’ll only get worse once the baby is here! I don’t really see much point mentioning it to my midwife, she’s not the nicest and when before I said I was struggling with insomnia she just sort of shrugged, so unless she has some pregnancy friendly very strong sleeping pills it feels pointless. DH is doing everything he can to be helpful but he is (irrationally) annoying me as well. I can’t be the only one 😵‍💫😵‍💫😵‍💫

herewegoagain123456 · 21/01/2025 17:39

I was also only thinking the other day that my baby doesn't move much in the night when I get up for my 3hourly wees.
So glad to hear it seems fairly common.

Also trying to tell myself that hopefully baby will be a good night sleeper, but think that's wishful thinking. Haha 😂

What a good idea planning to do something in your due date. I might do the same otherwise I know I'm going to be highly disappointed if I don't go into labour.

But really hoping I've had baby by then 😂 again wishful thinking!

Morning all! Getting to the stage where it’s all happening isn’t it?! And/or it’s not and people are starting to feel it 😂

Im 36 weeks today but spent last night in hospital as my normally lively baby in the evening went all quiet on me. CTG was OK and have a growth scan today so agreed to go home as the midwives / doctors were happy for me to. Still find myself being really anxious though when they say “go home if you’re happy” and I’m never quite sure if I am!

Baby seems livelier this morning so that’s good. Does anyone else have a baby that doesn’t move much overnight once asleep? Maybe that’s his normal but I find it disconcerting when get up for loo and can’t feel or get him to move without a lot of effort!

My baby was never very active during the night either, thankful in a way that it didn't keep me up all night as a regular. But it was worrying at times so I can relate to how you feel.

Piluka · 21/01/2025 18:36

@Padronpeppersplease i felt quite low after coming back from Christmas holidays (I took from the 20th of Dec to the 6 of Jan) and I was working until the 17th. Those two weeks have been the most tiresome I ever had in my life. I had very bad sleep (I guess pregnancy insomnia) I felt very very tired. I was driving between 50min to 1h 20 min each way everyday (traffic conditions have been horrendous) and also with the cold I felt very tired and instead of angry I was very sad. I have to say my life improved a bit after starting mat leave. Honestly. I'm still tired and having vary bad nights (everyday is worse than the previous one) but at least when I want to sit down I do so. If I need to nap I do so. If I want to cuddle with my doggy I do so. You know? Not amazing, I'm not gonna lie to you, but an improvement. Little, but still improvement. Try to be as positive as possible. See the bright side of everything. I know sounds rubbish but it helps. 😉😊

OnePinkSloth · 21/01/2025 18:44

No big update from me, been a slow process but hopefully when they examine me again at 10pm I'll be dilated enough to send me down to labour ward to get my waters broken.

retrievermum · 21/01/2025 19:05

@Padronpeppersplease how you’re feeling is so, so normal!
Waiting on baby is absolutely exhausting in itself, without adding in not sleeping AND still
working! You’re doing amazingly to even be surviving at this point!

I have pretty much hated my husband all pregnancy (it was in fact my very first symptom!) and have been a total cow to him for the last nine months, but I think he understands. If he doesn’t, he’s at least slagging me off behind my back instead of to
my face which is probably what I need right now!

In terms of sleep, when baby is here I promise you’ll feel better! Newborn sleep is SO much better than pregnancy sleep, because you can actually get to sleep and stay asleep, and it’s good quality!

Not long to go now, keep plodding on and baby will be here before you know it, and you’ll forget how rubbish you’ve been feeling because you’ll be so besotted with your new little person!

retrievermum · 21/01/2025 19:33

@OnePinkSloth ahhh I hope you’re doing okay, it sounds like it’s been quite drawn out so far. Fingers crossed for 10pm!

Redapple21 · 21/01/2025 19:43

@OnePinkSloth ahh sounds like it's dragging on for you, fingers crossed they take you down tonight xx good luck xx

Hhdxx · 21/01/2025 22:47

Time is going really really slowly... Any tips to get through the days 🤣

Any update? When I was induced they broke my waters at just 1cm. Keeping my fingers crossed it's happening for you now!

Cheeseandcrackers123 · 21/01/2025 23:48

Thanks all - very reassuring to know not just me on movements front.

Slight turn of events here… came for pre booked growth scan this afternoon. All looking good - 75th percentile, head down etc. However whilst in waiting room I said to my DH that I was getting like mild contraction pains and it was pretty uncomfy during scan.

Anyway, as we were here I thought I’d get checked again and turns out they were actual contractions and I’m 3cm dilated 🤯.

So now been admitted and was told DS2 could be here imminently and my DH shouldn’t go too far etc. I was really upset about not seeing DS1 so DH brought him for a quick hot chocolate which made me feel a lot better. I also feel much calmer being 36 weeks this time when DS1 came at 32.

Anyway since all that excitement things have calmed down a bit. Contractions easing off so have sent DH home for sleep and will see tomorrow I guess if it was a false alarm and, if so, what they want to do about it….

SBelfast · 22/01/2025 00:41

@Padronpeppersplease I've felt low for sure, and I've noticed such a massive correlation between shite sleep and anxiety and low mood. I'd say it's very common to feel this way hope that helps. Sorry your midwife is useless, if you don't want to talk to her about it maybe you could ask if any resources on it or referrals? In my trust we have a midwife listening service for mental health and it's great.

@Cheeseandcrackers123 that's mad to happen while there! Hope your getting some rest tonight and things go well 😊

I'm in for my section in the morning, hence my late post as am bricking it 😂
I'll pop an update on if I can.

Hope your doing well @OnePinkSloth !

QuantumPanic · 22/01/2025 05:11

Oh wow, it's all happening!

@Cheeseandcrackers123 Are you 'ready', or were you hoping for a couple more weeks before your baby came?

@OnePinkSloth It sounds like a maraton process. Keeping my 🤞 for you.

@SBelfast GOOD LUCK!! Hope it all goes super smoothly. 🧡

QuantumPanic · 22/01/2025 05:21

@retrievermum We also have a wedding next week at 39+5 (our own, actually). The registry office is right next to the hospital, so having the baby immediately post-wedding would be pretty efficient. 😂

Terrible night last night. I got up at least six times, I think. Rib pain, hip pain (hips have started clicking whenever I get up, which is 👌), nightly toilet pilgrimages, too hot/sweaty. Blah. I cannot wait to be able to sleep on my back/stomach again!! It's going to be bliss.

herewegoagain123456 · 22/01/2025 06:17

Good luck today @SBelfast

I was going to post something identical re sleep. Up all night and finally fully awake by 4.35am. I treated myself to a pregnancy massage last night too, which was heaven, so thought that would ensure a full night's sleep but apparently not! The rib pain for me is awful too. If I lay on one side too long my ribs flare up, only for it to happen the other side. Have you had bad sleep for a while, or does it come in waves? It's exhausting! As sad as I am that others are equally as uncomfortable, it's nice to know I'm not alone

QuantumPanic · 22/01/2025 08:19

@Catlover1812 It has been not-great for 2-3 weeks I would say. Getting steadily worse (with the odd good night's sleep thrown in, to be fair!) - last night was definitely the worst night so far. I think I'm going to start sleeping on the sofa - my poor partner is suffering too, and he has to get up at 6am and drive to work. 🫤

When are you due? We're on the home stretch! ❤️

Catlover1812 · 22/01/2025 08:35

I'm sorry to hear that. It's hideous isn't it. Mine has come in waves since 29 weeks but definitely worse now! It's unethical. We should be resting before being given a baby to be in charge of haha! I'm due 8 Feb, so almost 38 weeks. So close, yet so far! When are you due? X

QuantumPanic · 22/01/2025 08:45

@Catlover1812 Due on the 2nd! In theory less than two weeks to go. (I know it could easily be four weeks, but I'm trying not to think about that!)
