Sorry for the rant...for context I am overjoyed to be expecting after 3 miscarriages including a late 2nd trimester one.

My mother can't help but comment on my body. Bearing in mind I'm 35wks, she commented "god, everytime I see you your tummy has gotten bigger". Now, bearing in mind I live around the corner and she sees me several times a week she shouldn't be noticing much difference day to day. She doesn't like being called out and does the "you're far too oversensitive" or "well so it is". Last night I said to her, "what an odd thing to say to a pregnant woman" and it was the first time she didn't seem to know how to respond. For context, she is 74, is this a generational ignorance.

Hhdxx · 07/01/2025 17:40

@TTCagain85 I am so sorry to hear about your losses. I am a fellow angel mama, my daughter died when she was 2 days old.

I've had a few comments off people saying I look huge etc. I try not to take it to heart. I'm only 33 weeks. x

elb1504 · 07/01/2025 18:28

So my breech baby has turned at 37 weeks! And has grown quite a bit, so much so my consultant asked if I'd been eating lots of sugar - which I said yes it's been christmas so they are keeping an eye on that but they did say it's hard to diagnose GD at a late stage.

So I'm back on for VBAC but do have a section booked in if she doesn't arrive!

@TTCagain85 So annoying when people comment on bump size etc... even worse when it's you own mum! I've had a few comments but tend to just ignore them but sometimes it is hard!

retrievermum · 07/01/2025 19:07

@TTCagain85 my mum is making similar comments and I also see her regularly, and it’s doing my head in too!

@elb1504 amazing news! So pleased for you! If you don’t mind me asking, what gestation have you booked an elective section in for?

Redapple21 · 07/01/2025 19:22

What an exciting catch up!

@OrangeSlices998 wishing you lots of luck, I hope baby arrives quickly and safely, so exciting! It sounds like you've had a difficult time lately so I'm glad baby is on her way now.

I'm 36 weeks tomorrow and really feel like my bump has dropped. I don't remember it being this noticeable last time! Anyone else? The good thing is it's helped with my breathlessness! But lots more pressure down below - eek!

Piluka · 07/01/2025 19:44

@QuantumPanic thanks for the link. I didn't know that existed.

It's only on my tummy but it's not the whole time. I thought it was because my skin tends to be quite dry in general and know the tummy is super stretched I assumed it was because of that. As well, my skin is quite pink around there and legs. The rest of the body is fine, not itching at all. I'll mention to my midwife next week. If it was on hands and so I'd be calling 111 this instant. But many, many thanks to share it! 😘❤️

@OrangeSlices998 any news with your labour? I've been thinking the whole day about you and wondering if you both were alright. Sending lots of hugs!!! Xxx

elb1504 · 07/01/2025 19:58

@retrievermum My consultant wanted to book me in for sometime after 40 weeks but they didn't have any availability so I'm actually booked in for my due date.

retrievermum · 07/01/2025 20:38

@elb1504 I’ve got a consultant appointment when I’ll be 38+5 to “discuss my options” because I didn’t want to book an elective section/induction if I don’t go into labour by my due date and I already feel geared up for a fight! My community midwife has been lovely and basically said that off the record, she thinks I’d be stupid to go past 42 weeks but that she thinks I’ll have baby before then anyway (with DD I went into labour at 40+1).

How are you feeling about having it booked? I’m scared that by not booking one, I’m setting myself up for a failed VBAC and more trauma!

retrievermum · 07/01/2025 20:39

@Redapple21 I did weekly bump photos with DD and the difference from week 34 to week 35 was almost unbelievable! All of a sudden she was out of my ribs and hanging out of me if the photos are anything to go by, haha!

This time I’ve carried a lot lower the whole way through, and god do I know it! My poor vagina is already swollen and aching, with likely another 3.5 weeks minimum to go!

The original plan was always to have c section booked in if I went overdue as I didn't want to be induced and consultant also reluctant to induce me. I'm happy to have it booked in, I went in thinking she was still breech so I've geared myself up to having a section anyway. It's nice to have an end date as I was 10 days overdue last time which isn't fun!

elb1504 · 07/01/2025 11:23

I'm also 5ft 2 and definitely feel like I'm being stretched from the inside! I even screamed the other evening because a particularly sharp kick/elbow/punch took me by surprise!

Yes this is me too! Thanks for the reassurance!

Hopefully2ndtimemummy · 07/01/2025 23:24

SBelfast · 07/01/2025 11:24

@Hopefully2ndtimemummy I've been complaining about this the last couple of nights (just over 35 weeks). On one hand I'm happy the movements are so obvious and on the other it's quite uncomfortable and can be sore. First time pregnancy so no idea what's normal. I think last night it felt like he was pushing up into my ribs. Also feel skin is sore when he's really close to the surface from the stretch, usually a little pat can get him to move haha.
If you're worried about anything though I'd still call one of the advice lines as I know what's normal for everyone might be different.

Thank you for your reply. I do feel that they just don’t have enough room. My first baby arrived at 38+5 and I have a feeling this one will be early too

Hopefully2ndtimemummy · 07/01/2025 23:26

QuantumPanic · 07/01/2025 13:30

When she turns over 🤢.

I had a nightmarish moment the other day where two sharp little points (elbows? Feet??) appeared through the skin of my stomach. They were so pointy and fragile - really unnerving. Had to poke and prod until they withdrew. At the same time I'm so happy whenever she's moving, because the alternative is me worrying that something's wrong. 🤷

Yes!! I find myself gagging when the movements catch me off guard and are sore!! Totally agree re the reassurance of feeling movements too. Thanks!

Hopefully2ndtimemummy · 07/01/2025 23:44

Piluka · 07/01/2025 13:50

@Hopefully2ndtimemummy this is my first pregnancy and I'm not sure what's normal or not, but sometimes she kicks/moves so awkwardly that makes me feel parts of my body I didn't know they existed. Such pains.... I sometimes said out loud 'ouch!!' and my partner looking at me and asking 'what happened?' ignorance is a bless for him. Hahahaha

What I noticed the most is my skin is super red on the tummy and super itchy for a month. I'm using my antistretchy cream to calm it down.

Haha for sure!!
I use bio oil every day and I think it helps

OrangeSlices998 · 08/01/2025 01:15

She’s here! Popped an update on the FB group. 💕

UrbanSquirrel · 08/01/2025 01:51

@OrangeSlices998 I've replied there too, but SO many congratulations! What a startling development, but she is absolutely gorgeous and much better for both of you to have her out than in. How many weeks were you in the end?

Can't believe we have our first Mumsnet baby! We also had our first NCT baby two days ago, and two of the girls in my pregnancy yoga group have had theirs already. It is all starting to feel very close! x

Have we got the same Mother! Mine is unashamedly unfiltered!

Piluka · 08/01/2025 09:19

@OrangeSlices998 super congratulations!!!! I'm so glad she's fine and out. Now, you can keep an eye on her. I feel more reassuring knowing I can see the baby rather than having her inside and not knowing what's going on.

I'm so happy for you, honestly!!! 🥳🥳🥳🥳 Now, enjoy your precious girl. Goi G to fb to see your post! Xxxx

ThisLimeDeer · 08/01/2025 09:49
