Just creating this so that we have somewhere to continue when Thread 3 fills up. If you're due to have a baby in February 2025 (or late January or early March, as we have a wide spread!), come join us for support, advice and (at present) some really useful Black Friday recommendations! Big welcoming hugs to all the usual suspects coming over from Thread 3 🤗

Just finished listening to the week 36 episode of “Is It Normal? The Pregnancy Podcast” and it had some really helpful advice RE pain relief, birth types, hospital bags etc, so might be worth a listen (especially for first time mums!)

I’ve seen my consultant today and had another growth scan. At 33 weeks baby is now 6 lbs 😅.
my blood pressure was through the roof today yet again so at this point they prescribed me something.
Doctor’s put in a request for my c-section. We are looking at the week between 10th-14th Feb but it will be confirmed a week before.
The original due date was 24th. I’m hoping he hangs in there until then and it’s all good ♥️.
Doctor wanted to induce me, possibly even earlier but I said no as I want the section and thought it through already.
Let’s see what happens now. Doctor says it all depends on how I manage my BP and GD so fingers crossed everything is ok.

We are almost due date matches - 25th and will have a C-section the same week.
I have diabetes but this tiny bump is only 3lbs and 10-15th centile.
Between us we could have an average 😂

Oh fab - I’m off this week so might have a listen - thank you!

Had another growth scan today at 36wks, baby already measuring 7lbs 8oz!!

Consultant gave me two options, be induced at 38wks or C-section at 39wks.
I've been booked in for an induction on the 22nd!!!

But I'd like to get things going on their own before the 22nd, send me all your recommendations!!

Definitely considering acupuncture and already taking evening primrose oil orally and inserting too.

SBelfast · 06/01/2025 22:30

@ThisLimeDeer glad to hear you got section booked in, and hopefully baby stays put as you say :)
We are going Wed and going to ask for it then rather, than the induction. Really hoping we get a date. Scary not long feel massively unprepared 😂

OrangeSlices998 · 07/01/2025 03:28

Baby OrangeSlices is on her way!

I had a scan yesterday and it showed the fluid had reduced and there was some issue with the blood flow through the placenta; coupled with the rise in my blood pressure decision has been made we need to get her out! So I had the balloon inserted at about 10pm last night, if anyone ends up having one I can talk about it more, and am currently just waiting for things to kick off. Having some period pains, it’ll stay in 24h or it’ll fall out of my cervix opens to 3cm and my waters can be broken.

Delighted this stressful difficult pregnancy is almost over!

OnePinkSloth · 07/01/2025 03:58

Thank you, it’s been really stressful and worrying. Essentially felt like a ticking time bomb waiting for something to either slowly go wrong or something sudden to happen so that we need to intervene. It was hard to sleep or relax or eat I just felt so tense, terrified all the time.

As someone whose had 2 really straightforward pregnancies and births it felt very new to be so obstetrician led and it so beyond normal. The consultants I’ve met have been fantastic though I’ve felt really safe and like we’re all on the same page, everyone has been honest but kind it’s been really reassuring.

SBelfast · 07/01/2025 07:47

@OrangeSlices998 that's great to hear, hope your managing to get some rest in amongst all the action! Will be thinking about you and wishing you all the best, hope things progress quickly and comfortably for you 😊

Hopefully2ndtimemummy · 07/01/2025 08:14

@OrangeSlices998 best of luck and keep us posted. Sounds like you’re getting the right support and being listened too which is great

Hopefully2ndtimemummy · 07/01/2025 08:16

Hi all, currently 34 weeks and in the evening the movements are quite painful. Does anyone else have this? I haven’t had a scan since 20wks but feel this baby is measuring much bigger than my last. Thanks!

I've found a lot of the movements this time round have been painful like my whole uterus and skin is being stretched! Baby is breech and my first wasn't not sure if that's why! I've had a couple of extra scans and not measuring particularly big so I think sometimes it's just the way they are!

Ah yes maybe it’s because baby here is breach too! Feel SO stretched! I’m 5ft2 and just feel I’m being stretched from ribs into pelvis!

I'm also 5ft 2 and definitely feel like I'm being stretched from the inside! I even screamed the other evening because a particularly sharp kick/elbow/punch took me by surprise!

SBelfast · 07/01/2025 11:24

@Hopefully2ndtimemummy I've been complaining about this the last couple of nights (just over 35 weeks). On one hand I'm happy the movements are so obvious and on the other it's quite uncomfortable and can be sore. First time pregnancy so no idea what's normal. I think last night it felt like he was pushing up into my ribs. Also feel skin is sore when he's really close to the surface from the stretch, usually a little pat can get him to move haha.
If you're worried about anything though I'd still call one of the advice lines as I know what's normal for everyone might be different.

superj21 · 07/01/2025 11:33

Good luck @OrangeSlices998 ! Fingers crossed everything progresses quickly and smoothly for you and Baby OrangeSlices arrives safe and well 🧡!

When she turns over 🤢.

I had a nightmarish moment the other day where two sharp little points (elbows? Feet??) appeared through the skin of my stomach. They were so pointy and fragile - really unnerving. Had to poke and prod until they withdrew. At the same time I'm so happy whenever she's moving, because the alternative is me worrying that something's wrong. 🤷

Piluka · 07/01/2025 13:38

@retrievermum thanks for the info about the podcast I'm going to have a look! ❤️

@Hhdxx can't you call your hospital and ask about the salmon problem? Maybe they'll know what to say to you from a professional's point of view.

@OrangeSlices998 omg!!! I hope everything goes smooth and you can see your baby soon! Good luck!! Xxxx

Hhdxx · 07/01/2025 13:43

@OrangeSlices998 I hope everything goes smoothly 💕💕💕

I've been in hospital the last two days but I'm back home now. Had spotting and worried about eating undercooked food. They told me not to worry unless I feel poorly.

Piluka · 07/01/2025 13:50

@Hopefully2ndtimemummy this is my first pregnancy and I'm not sure what's normal or not, but sometimes she kicks/moves so awkwardly that makes me feel parts of my body I didn't know they existed. Such pains.... I sometimes said out loud 'ouch!!' and my partner looking at me and asking 'what happened?' ignorance is a bless for him. Hahahaha

What I noticed the most is my skin is super red on the tummy and super itchy for a month. I'm using my antistretchy cream to calm it down.
