@OrangeSlices998 Just to add, I think the entire family had given up on me ever procreating, and written me off as a career woman. My lovely cousins on my dad's side have tended to have kids quite early: to put it in perspective, one of them is a few years older than me and already a grandmother, which just boggles my mind 😱 x

Oh wow! It puts your mums excitement into perspective a bit, if she’s been quietly hoping you’ll pop out a grandchild! Luckily for us we’re both the younger siblings so our brothers had already had 2 kids (1 of each!) so there was zero pressure on us! My IL’s seem quite uninterested to be honest but I think they find pregnancy quite worrisome, they’re pains to me but adore my kids so I can’t complain (I mean I do 😂)

@apple67cherry I hope everything is ok.

@Kumquat89 @elb1504 I googled it too! It's only really faintly that I feel it.

I wondered, has anybody been told they are able to book in for a C-section at 37 weeks? I had a placental abruption with my other pregnancy so would like to have this baby out as soon as it's safe. I've been told I'll probably have to wait until 39 weeks but really struggling with the thought of that. X

What happened last time, was it before or during Labour? I totally get the fear, they can do a CS anytime if needed so it’s worth raising, you might need steroids for babies lungs before 39 weeks but apart from that obviously baby is well grown!

My section is booked for 37weeks and before 38 due to diabetes. Have a look at Rcog for what they recommend and why?

Hhdxx · 23/12/2024 21:51

@OrangeSlices998 it happened before labour, I didn't go into labour and had an emergency c section but sadly not baby died two days later. Yes, I've heard about the steroids helping!

@UrbanSquirrel I've been told today that I might have gestational diabetes too. Ahhh, it's one risk after another for me at the moment. Is there anything you can do to help it?

Glad to hear lots of other people's babies have had hiccups too!

@UrbanSquirrel

Redapple21 · 23/12/2024 22:00

@Hhdxx I'm so sorry for your loss, I'm not surprised you are feeling very anxious. Is there any extra monitoring they have offered you? Or things they have advised you to look out for? It sounds like a good reason to make a request for an earlier c section date, hopefully your midwife can support you in this! Xx

Hhdxx · 23/12/2024 22:02

@Redapple21 yes, I am having growth scans every 3 weeks. Found out today that baby's abdomen is over the 97th centile so starting to panic a bit! No, I didn't have any signs with the abruption. I'm at risk of having another one but apparently the risk is quite low still 👍 Taking a variety of medications to prevent one though. Xx

Redapple21 · 23/12/2024 22:05

@Hhdxx it's good you're having extra monitoring and medication but yes, still a very anxious time for you I'm sure. I don't blame you for wanting baby out as soon as is safe, hopefully you can have your cs before 39 weeks and bring things forward a little xx

OrangeSlices998 · 23/12/2024 22:52

Oh gosh @Hhdxx I am so sorry for your loss and for what you’ve been through. Sending you lots of love and gentle hugs, I can imagine it’s a very tense time for you all. I hope the next few weeks pass by easily and you’ll soon be holding your baby in your arms 💕

UrbanSquirrel · 24/12/2024 08:03

@Hhdxx Oh no about the gestational diabetes - but welcome to the club 😉 If you do end up with it, the trick is to keep an eye on the carbs and sugar (don't worry about it over Christmas: no one expects virtue on Christmas Day!).

I've found that brown rice and wholemeal pasta, in smaller portions, work well; and my go to lunch is now a ham and cheese toastie with two pieces of wholemeal toast.

Everyone reacts slightly differently so you'll have to experiment to see what works for you (you'll be able to tell as they'll ask you to take blood one hour after starting each meal - this is really easy). I found that Weetabix and Shredded Wheat were no go for me, but that might not be the same for everyone.

The thing to remember is: it's just for a few more weeks, if you do have it, and they'll be keeping an even closer eye on you if you do.

About the caesarean, like others have said, keep asking. You have every reason in the world to want your baby out as soon as it's safe and I'm sure they will understand. Sending lots of hugs 🤗 x

Merry Christmas everyone, hope everyone's managing to have a rest and enjoy their day!

Odessa1 · 25/12/2024 22:58

Don't forget to get a silhouette photo infront of the tree ladies xx

Due February 2025 - Thread 4
UrbanSquirrel · 26/12/2024 08:32

That's very beautiful and artistic @Odessa1 - lovely! I don't have a silhouette but MrSquirrel and I got a nice photo for the baby book - I'll post it over on the Facebook group as you can see our faces 😊

Hope everyone has a lovely day yesterday! MiniSquirrel even got a stocking from my mum with some lovely baby clothes. AND she very obligingly kicked so that my mum could feel her, which means that Granny is now very pleased, and means there is slightly less laser focus on my bump 😜

Off to the in-laws today for a whole family bonanza of chaos... x

Happy Christmas everyone. Love the pictures here and on fb @Odessa1 @UrbanSquirrel . 😊 it’s strange to think that next year we’ll celebrate Christmas with a little baby and not just me and my husband. We’ve been together for 8 years already, living the childless lifestyle so imagining the change is difficult 😅

Lunalovegod · 26/12/2024 12:15

Hi everyone, I hope you're all having a good Christmas ☺️ I created a thread asking this question but it hasn't had any response so thought I'd ask here if anybody knows the difference between the Chicco next to me crib and the Graco version? They seem to be similar but with quite a big price difference.

apple67cherry · 26/12/2024 17:23

Hope everyone had a lovely Christmas!! I got a lovely bump photo in front of the tree 😍 33+4 now and am worried as my cat has been very ill and has had two poop accidents on the hallway carpet (he's an outdoor cat) and I'm worried I've been breathing it in and catching toxoplasmosis. Has anyone else been through the same or know how common it is to catch it? I've also fell unwell today with stuffy nose, headache and sore throat that I've caught from family. Feeling sorry for myself 😞

UncharteredWaters · 27/12/2024 01:34

That’s a gorgeous bump photo!
everyone keeps commenting on how ‘neat’ I am so I don’t think a bump photo would even work!

Im browsing the Boxing Day sales but no idea of the newborn things I need!

herewegoagain123456 · 27/12/2024 12:48

Hope everyone's had a lovely Christmas!

Mines been lovely but got the extra food, orange juice and fizzy drinks has played havoc with my repeating burps and heartburn. So staying well away now!
Chocolate is hard to avoid when it's everywhere ATM though.

Still need to get my picture, will do it tonight as taking decs down tomorrow.

Can't believe this time next week we're be able to say we're due next month 😍

ridl14 · 27/12/2024 14:50

Yes it's crazy to think about! I'm so excited for next year though. The kids in our family were with the in laws for Christmas day this year so it was an adults only day - so excited to have our little chunky baby around in 2025!

Hope everyone's had a wonderful Christmas and been spoiled 🤗

We had another growth scan today and baby was breech - apparently it only becomes an issue from around 36 weeks but I'm still kind of in my head about it!

retrievermum · 27/12/2024 15:33

@ridl14 have a look at spinning babies to try and turn them if you want them to turn!

I didn’t know for certain but was confident mine was breech at about 30 weeks, spent a few days hanging off the sofa like a bat, and by my 31 week midwife appointment baby was head down and engaged!

I found that lying with my knees apart on the sofa and my elbows on the floor was the least uncomfortable position to hold for a while; try and do it while baby is wriggling about anyway if you can.

There’s no need to panic yet but I’d be in my head about it too!

Kumquat89 · 27/12/2024 15:59

@apple67cherry wash your hands after you come in contact with the cat and try to assign the cleaning to someone else if possible and you should be ok. If you are worried the test is a very quick blood test. I am doing it every month. I have three outdoor cats. The good thing is that they poop outside so I dont have a box to clean. But they do live on the sofas/ chairs etc…. I hope you feel better soon 😕

My baby is breech and she hasn't shifted since 20 weeks! Agree with trying the spinning babies inversions I've been doing this but no change! I'm coming up to 36 weeks and my consultant has booked a scan for 37 weeks and then section booking if she hasn't moved. Not sure how far along you are but there's a good chance they'll move up to around 36 weeks. I'm guessing I'd notice if she changed to head down as it would be a big movement so keep an eye out too.

Thank you! It is so frustrating isn't it, I'll definitely have a look at what you guys have suggested. I'm 32 weeks so a little bit of time to go but not long! Annoyingly he was head down before but has since shifted

UncharteredWaters · 27/12/2024 17:46

@ridl14 same here - was head down and definitely shifted on Xmas eve to transverse!
So uncomfy now!

Hope you all had a lovely Christmas x Can’t believe next year we will have DD with us 🥰

Having a nightmare with midwife/consultant. Not seen new midwife (never had a consistent one until now) since end of November as I was due a growth scan on 19th Dec with consultant. I rang up start of Dec and asked to speak to consultant regarding Birth Choices, was told to discuss with him on 19th as no earlier appts available.

Scan on 19th was cancelled and moved back to 4pm on 24th. They were running late on the day, got the scan with sonographer and then the consultant went home before I got to speak to him… I wasn’t impressed tbh. DD measuring very big, but fine, got a GD test on Thursday 😬

My next growth scan isn’t until 23rd Jan when I will see consultant (apparently) and will be 36w 6d,I will see midwife on 8th Jan (no earlier appts), but I’m a bit of an anxious mess and just want to speak to someone about an ELCS/birth choices. Don’t have number for midwife as she is bank/locum, she gave me community midwives number, I left a message but she hasn’t got back to me yet.

Should I ring my birth hospital and ask to speak to head midwife or another consultant? I just want to get the ball rolling.

I live rurally so my birth hospital is different to my local one which just holds growth scans/community midwife clinics with no labour ward etc. the birth hospital seems much better organised when i’ve been for reduced movements etc and tempted to just start calling/using them instead?

Dont want to look neurotic, which i probably am being, but feel like i’m getting nowhere and feeling very anxious.

I'm not discussing my final birth choice until 37 weeks which apparently is still plenty of time for ELCS booking as baby is breech (seeing if she'll move)

I would discuss with midwife start of Jan and see what they say. Do you have a regular consultant?! If you do I'd also try and make contact with your birth hospital to say you wish to talk through birth options but last consultant appointment was cancelled so you need to rearrange to go through this.

Also if you're having GD test is this at your birth hospital? Could you pop into antenatal clinic desk and see what they say? Not sure how all hospitals work but the one I go to has an antenatal department and you can just go and speak to people at the desk.

Try not to stress too much, you still have plenty of time but could be worth making in roads to get consultant appointment rearranged earlier (most of mine have been consultant only no scan) to just discuss options.
