It’s pretty accurate 🤣

Hopefully2ndtimemummy · 20/12/2024 09:43

I had very similar to this with my previous pregnancy- lots more scans. Also abdominal measurements were very small and she was over 6lb in the end and thrived!

@OrangeSlices998 Sending you big hugs and confident that your little girl will be absolutely perfect even if she is on the tiny side. Fingers crossed the next scan will provide some reassurance; and presumably your medical team will now be all over the checks to make sure she's OK? Good to hear that she's so active, though - that definitely sounds like 'small and mighty' to me 🤗 Keep us posted and sending you and her all good 'mighty' vibes xxx

I’m hoping the margin of error is such that they’re wrong! Thank you. I don’t know honestly how I’ll get through the next 7 weeks waiting for her to be here safely so I never have to go through this worry again!

Piluka · 20/12/2024 13:57

@UrbanSquirrel i missed to mention about your MRI scans. That's so cool you could volunteer for that and also help them to identify new ways to scan and check the health of babies. I have to apologise as your daughter's alien picture made me laugh (not just her, all the pics/scans of babies done by MRI are quite funny/scary side). Regarding motherland, I started to watch last year and I stopped after a couple of episodes as it was putting me off about maternity. One of my colleagues at work (2 kids of 12 and 15) said it was quite accurate (not 100% as it's a TV series) and she can empathise with the protagonist. Hahahaha. So, good luck for all of us! 😅

I completely understand how you feel. It’s such worrying time - I’m definitely the person who worries and overthinks and until the baby is safely here I know that’s how I’ll feel

Redapple21 · 21/12/2024 21:00

Is anyone else feeling they just really can't face all the Xmas stuff this week? Family gatherings where people will comment on the bump, feeling tired and Cba in general 🙈🙈 xx

Kumquat89 · 21/12/2024 21:37

@Redapple21 i feel you. It really stresses me when ppl comment on the size of my bump- on the small side. Will definitely get lots of that next couple of weeks so trying to prepare mentally on answering politely. 🙄
Also been having pretty constant Braxton Hicks for weeks now so doesn’t help with unwinding and enjoying social occasions. I hope that somehow I’ll be pleasantly surprised and be having such a great time that I’ll get distracted and not worry about things. Somehow I find it hard to picture being the only one not having a glass of wine on hand 😅

Are there other ppl here constantly counting down to 37 weeks so that baby is full term? I kind of feel like one day he’ll just decide it’s time to come but it won’t be time yet. Only another 4 weeks or so now but everything feels so sensitive.

UrbanSquirrel · 22/12/2024 09:18

@Kumquat89 and @Redapple21 Yep, beginning to count down myself. I'm 34 weeks tomorrow and had my first real heartburn last night - yikes. Sending so much sympathy to those who've had this longer term...

My parents are arriving for Christmas today and, although I love them deeply, and they are tremendously proactive and will be a real help, I know that my mum will be constantly touching my bump without asking, and saying 'Come on, kick for granny.' I've tried to explain that MiniSquirrel doesn't perform on command, but I'm not sure it's going in. It's also got to the point where the bump gets a greeting and a goodbye, but I don't any more. 😉

As an only child on the verge of my 40th birthday, this is a strange and baffling experience 🤣 x

How would your mum react if you asked her to stop the unsolicited touching?

Considering this is my 3rd pregnancy it’s my first experience of being touched without asking and I don’t like it! A few friends who I think are all done with having babies stroke me before saying hello and I HATE IT. But I’ve let it occur too long now and I can’t stop it 🫣

UrbanSquirrel · 22/12/2024 11:01

@OrangeSlices998 The thing is, I'm venting a little bit here, but I know it's just because she's excited. I love my mum and she's the only one who does it, so I've got off lightly. I just... I just sometimes feel more like a vessel than a person at the moment, but I guess we all have moments like that, right?

And (given my age and our personal circumstances) MiniSquirrel will be my mum's only grandchild - indeed, the only child on her whole side of the family. She's been saying for 20 years that it's my choice if I have children or not - that they don't mind either way - and now of course I've found out that she's been desperate for a grandchild all along 😉 I don't want her not to feel included, and I guess the occasional bit of over excitement is the price of having very loving, committed grandparents.

If it were my friends, however, I think it'd be a rather different story! Poor you; that sounds very irritating. Our friends all had kids rather late, so they're still in the early-years trenches, and far too exhausted to even think of being wistful over someone else's bump, thank goodness! 😅

@OrangeSlices998 Just to add, I think the entire family had given up on me ever procreating, and written me off as a career woman. My lovely cousins on my dad's side have tended to have kids quite early: to put it in perspective, one of them is a few years older than me and already a grandmother, which just boggles my mind 😱 x

I had a couple of people touch my bump with DD, and I immediately touched their belly back! They quickly realised it wasn’t acceptable to me and stopped!

Haven’t had anyone try it this time, wonder why 😂😂😂

Dog What GIF by MOODMAN

@UrbanSquirrel
Just wondering, how often does everybody's babies get hiccups? The last 3 days, I've felt it at least once a day!

Hhdxx · 22/12/2024 19:08

I have no idea how the gif appeared in my message 😂 I'm sorry! Also @UrbanSquirrel not sure you've been tagged in this too. Not sure what happened there! Sorry

apple67cherry · 22/12/2024 19:35

My baby hiccups multiple times a day but they found I had very high fluid so that was the cause x

Kumquat89 · 22/12/2024 20:07

@Hhdxx was googling this yesterday ! Mine has hiccups several times a day at the moment. Nothing to worry about apparently

elb1504 · 22/12/2024 20:36

Also another one with hiccups several times a day!

Same here - it’s always where are you putting her?!
Yes I know she’s small but you aren’t helping!!!

Piluka · 22/12/2024 21:42

About belly rubs, in Spain is kind of expected (it doesn't mean you allow it or like it) that people would rub your tummy when pregnant. Apparently, it brings "good luck" I still don't know to whom, tbh. Hahaha so, as I always seen it I don't bother at all. When I went to Spain last October to see family and friends some of them did it (specially if they were at certain age group) and I didn't mind. Spaniards we are more prone to touch and be touch I guess. But I can get it's not everyone's acceptance and it should be asked especially if it's not a tradition or cultural thing.

Hhdxx · 22/12/2024 22:51

@apple67cherry I hope everything is ok.

@Kumquat89 @elb1504 I googled it too! It's only really faintly that I feel it.

I wondered, has anybody been told they are able to book in for a C-section at 37 weeks? I had a placental abruption with my other pregnancy so would like to have this baby out as soon as it's safe. I've been told I'll probably have to wait until 39 weeks but really struggling with the thought of that. X

herewegoagain123456 · 23/12/2024 08:16

I am in the "get off the bump" crowd.
My God does it frustrate me. Also feel like a vessel, people see me and all they talk about is the bump etc. so really not looking forward to socializing over the next few days.

My friends do it and I tell them get off, you never touch my belly when I'm not pregnant so don't do it now!

The worst for me is when my clients go to do it....! Cos I have to be polite 🤣 but I really want to punch them in the face 🤣

Also I get hiccups multiple times a day, sometimes cute sometimes annoying 🤣

We have been scheduled a C-section for 38 weeks because of my age and the increased risks. It's worth a chat with your obstetrician.
