Saw we hit page 40, so figured I'd get a head start on the next thread just in case!!

Oh gosh, I just thought, there may not be very many more of these threads - I wonder if this one may even be the last?!

HUGE congrats to @MudandMoet on their gorgeous wee one!!
Best of luck on your way home this afternoon/this evening, I'm desperate to ask all about what it was like but I'll avoid that as I don't want anyone to get nervous/anxious about what's to come!!

Super glad you're feeling mostly okay and so so SO happy for you! <3

My c section has been brought forward to 38+2! Got a call from the consultant yesterday, saying they don’t want to wait until 39 now with my GD as I have to take 4 lots of insulin a day. It all feels very real now. Less than 10 days to go.

Bit daunting to have a c section at 38 weeks too, as there are additional risks!

TripleESept24 · 06/09/2024 13:46

Another day another moan. Im so bored already.

I want to do stuff around the house!! I want the house to be ready because she still could come any day!!!! But I'm being made to feel like I'm incapable, can't clean can't vacuum, can't do this can't do that and have to literally sit around doing absolutely nothing and I can't cope with it.

Some people might find it nice their other half is doing it all, but he takes SO LONG with it. and I'm just sat on my own doing absolutely nothing losing the plot 😡

Today was supposed to be our bedroom like deep clean, blinds etc and put the crib up, now he's going don't need to put the crib up after today's midwife. Who has their bedside crib up?? Am I being unreasonable? She's due in a week!? And could still come early and who wants to be putting the crib up when you get home from hospital?????

BakeOffRewatch · 06/09/2024 13:53

I put the crib up at 37 weeks, bedding washed and clean and a little baby wrap placed inside, and spare bedding and blankets underneath. The first time it was all up from 26 weeks because I thought I’d be physically unable to later. Why don’t you just do it @TripleESept24 ? Is he at home all the time?

kc92 · 06/09/2024 15:47

@BakeOffRewatch hoping baby is making a move.🤞 have had contractions about 10 min apart since 5am. They were getting longer, stronger and closer together but I made the mistake of going to my last clinic appt this morning because I knew this could take a few days. The Dr wanted to keep me in because I'm past dates, and it genuinely felt like trying to jail break getting out of there.

Finally home and trying to get my oxytocin and waves back on track!

Yes he is at home this week!! The plan was for the bedroom to be done today but here we are it's not!! Because I start doing something and he makes me stop as if I'm incapable and need to just be sat doing absolutely nothing and "he will do it" but he has no urgency!! I want things done!!

I Just cleaned the bathroom. But bedroom.... The most important room to sort and get the crib up.... No not done and I'm 39 weeks 🙄

Honestly I dont feel like I can relax until I know the house is ready I just feel like crying all the time I'm really fed up.

BakeOffRewatch · 06/09/2024 16:07

Sounds like he needs to be sent on an urgent long distance errand @TripleESept24

@kc92 amazing news! Yes get that oxytocin flowing. Did the Dr say that? Your EDD was 4th so you’re barely “overdue”. Post-dates is from 42+0 onwards. Maybe he misspoke but if he actually thought you were post-dates when you weren’t, that might lead to different approach.

Early term - upto 36+6 inclusive
Full term - 37+0 to 41+6
”Overdue” - 40+0 upwards
Post-dates, post-term - 42+0
Lots of sources online for the above, here’s an NHS research paper that has the description at beginning www.hra.nhs.uk/planning-and-improving-research/application-summaries/research-summaries/womens-experiences-of-being-overdue-in-pregnancy/

TripleESept24 · 06/09/2024 16:10

Tell me about it @BakeOffRewatch ...... If he wasn't here in the house I would just be getting on and doing it myself!! Instead I'm moping around wondering when it will ever be done trying not to nag!!!

kc92 · 06/09/2024 16:18

@BakeOffRewatch thank you! I'm in Ireland so slightly different guidelines and lucky me gets to go to one of the worst maternitys in the country - above 30% induction rate & 50% C-section rate. Spontaneous physiological birth isn't really seen as an option, especially because he's a big baby. Have turned down induction by 7 different doctors in the last 4 weeks. 😅

Had to go for a scan and had a CTG under duress but I refused the vaginal exams which they were not pleased about. Bouncing on the ball like a loony and listening to 00's throwback hits to hopefully start things again.

& @TripleESept24 I'm stressed for you just reading that! You'll feel so much better when your nest is done. ❤️

BakeOffRewatch · 06/09/2024 16:20

Sending all the good oxytocin vibes your way @kc92 . And you @TripleESept24 !

I'm not that overdue either but getting nervous about induction and childcare during it.

I don’t understand why when he says he’ll do it you don’t just say it’s fine you can do it yourself?! I can’t imagine anything more irritating than a husband constantly telling me I can’t do things. Just get on with it without him.

TripleESept24 · 06/09/2024 19:10

@Theheckwhat I did today I spring cleaned the bathroom mopped the floors. I do feel shattered now tho.

I feel like I am maybe painting him out in too bad a light, I think what it probably is and my mum has said is it's his first child/pregnancy and he is worried that I'm going to over do it wear myself out or start labour so tells me to stop and sit down and he will do it......... It's just both our ideas or urgency and wanting things done are soooooooo different and always have been if I want something I want it now where as he is happy to wait for things and do things gradually. He thinks she will probably be late and we have like two weeks and I'm panicking where as I'd rather be prepared and things be ready and THEN rest.

Anyway...... Enough ranting/moaning!! I have been eating the dates today and they are actually delicious I really enjoy them, so I will get through this pack and then buy some Medjool ones not sure what the difference is/why it's specified they should be Medjool! I also ordered a ball coming tomorrow to get bouncing on 🤣 I haven't had one but caved with the worry now that she's gonna be late it was only £8.75 from Argos

BakeOffRewatch · 06/09/2024 19:34

It’s Medjool because that’s what they did the study on @TripleESept24 . They’re a particular large date with lots of potassium and carbs, and the study was testing a traditional custom in Middle Eastern countries that is specific about those dates. The study did find it made a difference. The centuries old custom/wisdom isn’t about other dates and they haven’t tested other dates which can be more fibrous, rather than sugar and carbs. If you have something like My Fitness Pal you’ll see there’s a huge difference in the macros of different dates, let alone micronutrients. It was also a proper comprehensive study with lots of people, rather than say the theoretical paper “semen has prostaglandin, prostaglandin starts labour, ergo semen starts labour. Disclaimer - needs to be tested” BS.

BakeOffRewatch · 06/09/2024 19:58

I feel quite stressed out. Looking up these studies again, it’s all about the oxytocin so anything stressing you out isn’t worth it, like harvesting colostrum. I feel like I’m already a terrible mum to the baby, my toddler saw a new soft toy that the baby had received as a gift from an acquaintance and she had a meltdown over it so we just gave it to her. I’m letting the baby’s stuff be stolen from their crib by their elder sibling already and they’re not even out! DH is a bit more level headed and says I shouldn’t read too much into an over tired toddler. I almost just want to walk into a hospital on Monday and say induce me! Everyone feels on edge in the house. Another weekend ahead…

SpicyMoth · 06/09/2024 20:24

Sadly still no news here@BakeOffRewatch :'( !

Had a false alarm today but the pain was majority only one side so have a feeling my kidney's were taunting me and giving me false hope lol - Just been feeling utterly exhausted and run down since my sweep so been sleeping a stupid amount - Woke up at 4pm today!! >.<

SO bloody impatient, feel like I can't do anything b/c I'm just waiting for something that isn't coming ;n;

kc92 · 06/09/2024 21:12

@BakeOffRewatch think that on edge feeling is a sign we're close 🤞 it's so tough balancing toddlers and hormones though - have had many many wobbles about balancing my time between them & #2 isn't even our of the womb yet!

@SpicyMoth the impatience is itching away at me too - I just want to know when his birthday is and smell his head and know he's ok earthside. I was induced on my first and had it all done within 7 hrs start to finish so this slow build up of symptoms is totally new and driving me crazy. 😂

kc92 · 07/09/2024 20:01

& he's arrived! 💙 Long labour but super quick delivery when it ramped up. It kicked off in the early hours of Friday, with contractions that stayed 10min apart for 24 hours, and then started moving along around 06:00 this morning. Felt like I maybe needed to leave for hospital around 8am, and arrived 30 minutes later roaring so loudly they ran out to meet me in the car park with a wheelchair. 😅 He was born just after 10am & surprised everyone in the delivery room by being a chunky 10lbs 6oz. We knew he'd be big, but not that big!!

I had my dream birth and it felt so redemptive after my first. Managed to rely on just gas & air - despite his size he flew out. His waters broke right before he crowned, and I escaped with just a 2nd degree tear. If I didn't have scar tissue from a previous episiotomy the midwives reckon it probably would have been smaller.

I'm in utter heaven. 💙

Congratulations on the birth of your baby boy @kc92 💙

Possible trigger warning, so maybe don't read this if you suffer with anxiety like I do!

Having a wee anxiety moment as still not feeling any different or sensing any impending labour, just incredibly tired - Does anyone know if the statistic that half of inductions end in emergency caesarean are true/accurate?
I've just read that in another thread and I'm now having a bit of a wobble.

I'm REALLY not feeling anything and am booked in for balloon induction on the 13th, and even though I know it's irrational I really am quite afraid of a C-section.

My mum had an absolutely horrendous emergency C-section experience where she ended up with gangrene and nearly died, staying in hospital for weeks on end with an open wound >.< The hospital she had this experience in was actually shut down not long after she went through this!
I know it's incredibly unlikely anything even remotely similar would happen to me, but even just on the base level the recovery scares me in and of itself - I've never broken a bone or had chicken pox even, my experiences of hospitals have always been for something relatively mild in comparison to a whole ass surgery!
It's just something I want to avoid if at all possible and I'm now worrying that it's seeming more likely of a possibility just by having to have the balloon? 😩😬

BakeOffRewatch · 07/09/2024 22:46

Can you link the thread @SpicyMoth and then we can judge the source? I haven’t rechecked my sources yet, but I believe risk is higher with early inductions or where baby isn’t engaged, a little less relevant as we’re overdue? Inductions a lot more likely to end up with intervention such as forceps or ventouse, I remember that.

I too have been reading lots of induction guidance and googling “Is second induction shorter than first?” - with you there on the worry!

BakeOffRewatch · 07/09/2024 22:54

I deleted my internet history recently because a website wasn’t working so I cleared cache and cookies but there’s an amazing NHS one written by a midwife where they’ve taken all the stats and visualised it with dots so you can see the chance between two different scenarios. Of course I’ll never remember the key words now!
