Saw we hit page 40, so figured I'd get a head start on the next thread just in case!!

Oh gosh, I just thought, there may not be very many more of these threads - I wonder if this one may even be the last?!

HUGE congrats to @MudandMoet on their gorgeous wee one!!
Best of luck on your way home this afternoon/this evening, I'm desperate to ask all about what it was like but I'll avoid that as I don't want anyone to get nervous/anxious about what's to come!!

Super glad you're feeling mostly okay and so so SO happy for you! <3

I feel the same @BeautyAndTheBump1 . Though I am eating the 75g of medjool dates a day. Not even bothering with perineal massage.

TripleESept24 · 02/09/2024 12:17

We have just been and done a big Aldi shop and stocked up.

Off for an afternoon on my own getting my hair done this afternoon at 2pm. Roots are awful and having a change going lighter to hopefully disguise the greys coming through 🤣

Medjool dates! Is 75g what you are supposed to have per day/the limit? Bloody expensive aren't they and don't have in Aldi. I'll have to look in Sainsbury's or Asda for them. They were £4.75 a box in Asda the other day x

BakeOffRewatch · 02/09/2024 12:25

Yes they are £££ @TripleESept24 , but I read a few studies and it’s that specific type and 75g was the effective point, in conversation people say “6 dates a day”, but I weigh it out. I ordered them from this farm that sell them by the kilo, 3kg covers 5 weeks from week 37 to 42. https://willowbrookfarm.co.uk/product-page/zaytoun-medjoul-dates/

Yes there is prostaglandin in semen and that starts labour contractions. But again from what I read, when you read the text of the studies not just the headline, you’d basically have to pour the stuff in with a jug. Really annoys me that “have sex” is doled out in a cheeky way to heavily pregnant , very uncomfortable, desperate women without the stress on the most effective bit - release of oxytocin in ourselves when WE orgasm! I’ll leave my rant there …

PinkWatermelon88 · 02/09/2024 13:14

@BakeOffRewatch pour it in with a jug made me cackle so hard 😂😂😂

those of you who live with PGP - is it ever in your inner thigh? Last few days I’ve felt as if I’ve stretched my inner adductor too much on one side, but cannot remember how. Looking it up online says it could be a symptom of PGP. I have a pregnancy belt maybe I should try that along with some gentle exercises and rest

Yes!
Majority of the time it's inner thigh for me honestly!!

I found swimming has really helped with the inner thigh pain - Not so much for the "punched in the pubic mound" feeling, but deffo for the inner thighs - Highly recommend stretches in water too, leg up on the side of the pool and attempting to squat with the other leg - Bit tender at first but after a few reps you can feel the muscles loosening up and the pain lessens, walking post-pool is SO much easier for me - Hopefully that might help you out a bit! :)

Well today was my due date, little miss will be 3 weeks old tomorrow. We have finally moved into first size clothing and out of the tiny baby 5lb clothes (I was doing A LOT of washing as she only had about 5 things that fit). She’s eating all the time and is terrible for getting wind out of but so proud of how she’s doing 🥰 my husband went back to work on nights last night so trying to find a new normal for us, my 12 year old and my many cats 🙈

Gorgeous @MrsMoggy 😍 This thread makes me so excited for all the babies and to meet my own.

I think I got really nervous at the weekend, so dreading the next two. I haven’t scheduled anything as I’m 40 weeks now. Do you feel the same at weekend @SpicyMoth and @kc92 ? I just get nervous about it, spent way too much time on mumsnet, whereas the rhythm of the weekdays goes by really quickly.

Bubblegum20 · 02/09/2024 19:12

Another one that is just ready for my little one to make their arrival now! I had my 38 week midwife appt today and was told that I'm 2/5 engaged, she said you don't normally tend to get anymore engaged until you're in labour, I feel like it's made me a bit too excited about labour hopefully starting soon when in reality I could still have a few weeks left

kc92 · 02/09/2024 19:19

@MrsMoggy congrats, she is gorgeous! 😍 Makes me so excited to meet our little one.

@BakeOffRewatch yes for some reason the weekend totally spiked my "when will this baby be here" anxiety. Think I read every thread on the childbirth topic. My first was induced at 41 weeks & I'd really like to avoid that this time but I'm trying my best to relax into the flow of things.

@Bubblegum20 that's brilliant for 38 weeks. 🙌 Hopefully a good sign for a timely delivery.

Definitely!!
Sod's law with me has always seen anything medical happen at the weekend, usually on a Sunday - Last time it was kidney stones and I was sat in A&E for hours on a weekend before being carted off to triage for a second load of waiting around lol
My due date is tomorrow and midwife the day after but at this point as it's now the working week I'm fully expecting absolutely no signs of anything until the weekend 😂😅
I totally feel your apprehensiveness re; weekends @BakeOffRewatch !

I have a 39 week appointment this Friday! Should they tell me how engaged baby is?? Or do you have to ask @Bubblegum20 ?

Had a good day today, big food shop done this morning, hair this afternoon (went lighter to hopefully disguise my greys for longer 🤣) and I got sent this lovely package from Cornwall from a lady who's daughter I used to babysit 🥺🩷 The cardis are beautiful! The one with the matching hat is sparkly wool 🥺🩷 she's got lots of knitted stuff! Pink, white, and yellow I think it's so cute! X

I'm trying to get everything done this week so that next week I can just stay at home and "nest" and relax as it's due date week!!!!! Xx

Decaffe · 02/09/2024 20:07

She’s lovely @MrsMoggy 😍

I started maternity leave today so took the opportunity to pack my and the baby’s hospital bags. I did it very slowly though as my bump is huge and the PGP is so sore. Every movement takes such effort.

Yes, sometimes my PGP feels like I’ve gone too hard on those hip machines at the gym. Mostly it just feels like I’ve been kicked hard in my vulva though.

2/5 engaged is almost fully engaged isn’t it - 5/5 means not at all engaged? So that’s really exciting!

C-section scheduled for two weeks tomorrow 👀 and I have my final scan and meeting with the consultant on Friday (at 38w1d). Then that’s it until my pre-op!

Bubblegum20 · 02/09/2024 20:14

@TripleESept24 good luck with your appt, she just told me she felt baby's position to listen to their heart rate and then just said you're 2/5 engaged now, so hopefully your midwife will do the same for you

Decaffe · 02/09/2024 20:18

I might see if I can go for a swim this week @SpicyMoth. Did I read somewhere that you shouldn’t do breaststroke but you should keep your legs together? I can’t wait to be able to walk without pain again, I even had to use a wheelchair at the local shopping complex and IKEA the other day. It’s led to me piling on the weight as well. I don’t feel like I can complain because apart from the PGP it’s been a mostly uneventful pregnancy but it really hasn’t been any fun being so immobile.

It’s also really made me reflect on how important it will be to keep my mobility going into my 70s and beyond, something I have seen some elder members of my family struggle with. I’ve found out only during this pregnancy that I’m at a higher risk of osteoporosis due to untreated hyperthyroidism for at least the past ten years (not to mention the fact they put me into medical menopause for six months for the endometriosis surgery which will have only made things worse 😱) so I’m on a waiting list for a bone scan after giving birth. I know I’m going to have to start a programme of strength training / weight bearing exercises too… in time.

But first, I just want to be able to walk normally again!

TripleESept24 · 02/09/2024 20:19

@Bubblegum20 I hope so 😬 looking forward to this one on Friday am I mad? I think it's because I'm so close now and having a sweep too if cervix is ready!! So will get an idea of how close it could be!

WinsandSam · 02/09/2024 20:32

@Decaffe we're on the same schedule! I have my final scan and consultation this Friday, pre op next Friday, then babies birthday the following Friday!
Hope all your appointments go well.
Also swimming is so lovely with hip/pelvic pain. I went on the weekend and felt so light and back to my old self. So much better than walking etc. wish I could go daily

Khanga27 · 02/09/2024 21:27

@TripleESept24 they should tell you as standard in appointments after 37 weeks, I was 3/5 at my last appointment and apparently 1cm dilated (had a sweep), hoping I’ll have progressed more for this weeks appointment and second sweep

BakeOffRewatch · 02/09/2024 21:37

Yes I’m sitting down now and going through the child birth threads. I must stop! Is it me, @SpicyMoth and @kc92 due tomorrow, have I missed anyone else? I’ve also been googling about long period cycles, as mine have always been 5 weeks.

”Talking” it through here has made me realise the weekend plan of rest and relaxation doesn’t work for me or baby. In the week, I’m walking around loads, play dates, coffee meets, laundry carried round and the baby is very active. Whereas this weekend I did nothing, slept loads, and baby was quiet or I was more aware of when it wasn’t moving and it just really got me worried. Busy day today again and baby is super active now I’ve sat down. Think I’ll plan a busy weekend.

TripleESept24 · 02/09/2024 22:05

@Khanga27 oh! Well I'm 39 weeks this Friday and definitely haven't been told!! So I will be asking for sure!!!!

PinkWatermelon88 · 02/09/2024 22:57

Thanks for sharing your PGP stories @SpicyMoth and @Decaffe ive been slowly stretching and trying to rest today and I think it’s ok but like you said Decaffe it’s as if I went HAM on the thigh machine at the gym. 38w tomorrow, very ready for baby to arrive!

Xur · 03/09/2024 00:26

I’m in the hospital with elevated blood pressure for monitoring. My baby was kicking so hard during the evening monitoring that he kicked off the sensors 3 times.
I don’t think I’m going home without a baby after today.

Decaffe · 03/09/2024 02:10

@Xur I think you might be right! How far along are you now?

I’m still wide awake which is ironic because I am chronically sleep deprived right now. I’m only averaging around 5.5 hours per night.

SpicyMoth · 03/09/2024 03:37

Yes @Decaffe I was told the same during my one and only physio appointment!
I've still been doing breaststroke just without the froggy legs xD That and backstroke has helped a bunch honestly.
I've also piled on the weight too from the PGP so I really do sympathise, it's so damn hard to keep active when it's total agony to even just walk isn't it?!!

@BakeOffRewatch I think I remember someone else due on the 3rd as well but I don't recall their username and I don't think they've posted in these threads for a wee while now unless my heads a total sieve which it has form for! 😅

kc92 · 03/09/2024 05:27

@Xur hope everything is going ok with your elevated blood pressure. 🤞 You're in the best place for good care & sounds like you'll be holding your baby soon - and that they're trying to kick their way out!

@BakeOffRewatch my due date is the 4th so one more day until 40 weeks officially. Feels a bit surreal to still be pregnant - my Drs wanted me to induce last week. Baby boy is so chunky that if he hasn't come by next Monday I'm booked for an induction.

Kind of just hoping he slides out before then. My first was 9lbs 8oz at 41 weeks and if I have a spontaneous delivery I think I can do it on my own this time.

@TripleESept24 your hair looks fab!

Xur · 03/09/2024 06:59

@Decaffe I am 39+3 today, I’m due on Saturday. So this is luckily happening at the very end.
upside is it looks like I’m the one primarily suffering from this, baby doesn’t care much from the looks of it. Fingers crossed it stays that way 🤞🏻
