@MinionMumto3nearly4 welcome! Have you just found out you are expecting no4! I'd love to have that happen to me 😆 removes the stress of the first tri! Beautiful scan x

MinionMumto3nearly4 · 21/08/2024 22:03

@TTCagain85 no, I found out at 4 weeks. This pregnancy is dragging but so glad to be in the second trimester now.
I had implantation cramping and bleeding with this one, which I've never had before. So it's definitely true what they say, every pregnancy is different x

@Redapple21 @elb1504 Why won't you see your babies until November? Will you not have a 20 week scan?

Won't see the midwife until 28 weeks! Will have the usual 20 week scan and I have a few other consultant appointments in between too!

Ahhhh, ok! Reading comprehension failure on my part.

Just had gender scan, we're having a girl! We have a little boy so this is lovely, cried my eyes out which was very strange as I'm not usually a crier! Got some lovely pictures too which beat our sausage shaped picture from 12 week scan!

Congratulations! What an amazingly clear picture! How lovely 😻

I’m (very) late to the party but can I join please?
I had a MMC at 12 weeks in February so wanted to wait until after our scan before joining any due date groups!
We had our dating scan yesterday, measured 13+2 which puts our due date as 24th February, coincidentally a year to the day I miscarried our last little one
Is there a Facebook group running at all? I’m part of one for my DD and it was invaluable!
Lovely to meet you all 🥰

My toddler has been quite unwell the last week with a cough, cold and high temperature. We took him to the GP who said viral. Today I've started to feel a bit unwell and my skin feels tingly and sore. The only other time I've felt like this was when I had covid. Now I think maybe that's what my toddler has had but it just didn't cross my mind at all! We don't have any tests in and do people even still test for it? I seem to remember a few ladies on here having covid whilst pregnant. Any advice on what you did? Xx

Redapple21 · 22/08/2024 16:10

Thinking of you today @Piluka please let us know how you got on with your test xx

I bought a test from the chemist, as my younger brother is disabled and has long covid I wanted to be sure if I had it or not so I knew whether to avoid him etc. I felt horrendously ill for days but didn’t do anything differently

UrbanSquirrel · 23/08/2024 08:24

Massive congratulations @elb1504! That's lovely news.

Just catching up after a week off. How is everyone doing? @Piluka how are you getting on: have you had any further information yet?

We had our 16 week midwife appointment yesterday and got to hear the heartbeat, which was lovely. Baby was very relaxed - in fact, the midwife thought she was probably asleep, which makes a total of 2/2 appointments where she's been asleep. She's clearly inherited my husband's laid back spirit - as well as his blood type, annoyingly, which means I need to have anti D.

My bump has come out of nowhere this week and I now very definitely look pregnant, which in a way is a relief. Hitting the Seraphine sale with a vengeance 😂

With love to all - I'll now go through and catch up on all your news x

Hope you are feeling better or not too unwell. Personally I would pop a mask on, go to Boots, and grab a test. Covid often has the symptoms of a cold but it really is not a cold, and if you get any long covid symptoms if it were me I'd find it helpful to know that's what they were. With baby in mind: if you get a fever, keep an eye on your body temperature and take paracetamol to keep it down. Hope it's light for you, lately I've heard everything from ten days in bed to 3-day sniffles.

Redapple21 · 23/08/2024 08:27

@OrangeSlices998 @CarrotySnack thank you both for your replies. Will get my other half to pop to the chemist today and pick up a test. Sore throat, headache, and achey skin are my main symptoms. Will keep an eye on temperature. thank you xx

@UrbanSquirrel ahh that's so lovely you got to listen to the heartbeat! Xx

UrbanSquirrel · 23/08/2024 08:28

@Redapple21 Just to add, when I thought I had Covid a few weeks back, I was very lazy and got some tests delivered from Waitrose via Deliveroo - amazed they still had them. Aware this may only be a possibility if you're in a big city though 😊 Can't remember where you're based x

Ahh thank you. Yes we are just outside of Liverpool so should be able to access things like that. We have a Boots close by so il get DH to pop out on his lunch break. Thank you Flowers

Different subject, in a bookshop the other day I discovered the book by Megan Vickers called Stronger:the honest guide to healing after pregnancy and birth. It's so good! Just wanted to shout that from the rooftops really.
It's mostly about the pelvic floor - and its so much better than the other pelvic floor books I've looked at.

While I'm here, my other favourite book so far is the Positive Birth Book by Milli Hill, which I think is amazing. The older edition is cheap on ebay and not very different from the new one. Would love to know if anyone has any experience of using it, or other thoughts.

EastLondonCoffeeFiend · 23/08/2024 08:44

Ah I had my 16 week appointment yesterday too @UrbanSquirrel but no heartbeat check unfortunately- it must vary between hospitals/ trusts! The appointment was very basic: glucose, blood pressure, weight etc. They’re also checking the fetal blood type for me in case I need Anti D.

And congrats @elb1504 !!

UrbanSquirrel · 23/08/2024 08:46

@EastLondonCoffeeFiend Yes, weird that it differs so much, especially as we're both in Greater London. I had to give a urine sample but didn't have bloods taken or glucose checked, and didn't get weighed (entirely possible the midwife just glanced at me and ticked the 'whale' option on the weight form 🤔). But we did get offered the Doppler. I don't think I get glucose checked until week 28 so you're way ahead of me!
