@Emmaev my friend got induced because of high BP recently. So I'd say pack that hospital bag!

Fik88 · 14/08/2024 13:30

Congratulations @MrsMoggy sorry to hear you had a difficult time. Hope you and baby are doing okay. Xx
Congratulations @Martibum they are beautiful. Hope you're all doing okay xx

HRP1990 · 14/08/2024 17:44

How are you doing @MudandMoet did you manage to get your hair done after your sweep!?

MudandMoet · 14/08/2024 18:27

@HRP1990 we're just at the hospital waiting for the Dr who's on this evening to check over the results of the machines they've had me hooked up to for about an hour.

I had the sweep at 11 but bled quite bad after then a big clot came away about an hour after that. Midwife advised ring the birth centre (that was about 4:30pm ish) so I'm just waiting now to see what's what. No labour pains though. Hoping shortly someone will be through to say all is okay and we can go get a Maccys on the way home. Will keep you posted xxx

P.s did get my hair done in the meantime of all this 😂

SC126 · 14/08/2024 19:00

@MudandMoet when i had a sweep last time (granted I was 40 weeks) I had a bloody show the day after and then day after that my waters broke and contractions started. So you never know it might still work.

MudandMoet · 14/08/2024 21:19

@SC126 ahh that's good to know, thanks. I guess she could start tonight tomorrow or whenever now.

The Dr came in and did an internal (torch and all!) to check again there was nothing out of place up there. Got the all clear and we're back home now. The bleeding and clot was caused by a disturbance from the sweep. Me and DH have decided against the second sweep on Saturday now and will just wait for the scan on Tuesday and take it from there (unless something happens in the meantime) Don't want this again really.

SantasRubiksCube · 14/08/2024 21:29

Hi all just checking in, congratulations to the ones in the group who have their babies, it's so crazy that we're all almost there! I had a midwife appointment today (36+6) and she even though she said she thinks baby is engaged she's not 100% sure of his position so I'm off for a scan at 9am tomorrow morning to check whereabouts he is. She also said she thinks he's back to back with me and asked if I've had any back pain which is a bit odd as yesterday I had what I can only describe as sharp period cramps in my lower back which took my breath away abit, now I keep thinking I'm getting niggles in my back but I'm not sure if that's just me overthinking it. I'm abit worried about a back to back birth as everything I've read/heard says they can be longer, more difficult and more painful 😖 but I guess I'll just have to see what they say at the scan tomorrow 🤞🏻

TripleESept24 · 14/08/2024 21:42

@SantasRubiksCube good luck with your scan tomorrow!!

I have more blood tests tomorrow to try and get to the bottom of my high ALT levels on my liver functionality tests 😐😵‍💫😐 see if they have gone down at all

MrsMoggy · 15/08/2024 04:41

Thank you for everyone’s well wishes. We are now back home with little miss, with lots of follow up appointments booked but at least we have our own bed.

the hospital have referred for a birth debrief in a few weeks time so I think that will be really helpful in trying to understand what happened.

now just pondering how I’m going to deal with ten days of blood thinning injections I have to give myself when I’m terrified of needles. Already resemble a pin cushion with the amount of cannulas and bloods I have had done.

here’s a photo of our lady.

thanks again for everyone’s well wishes and wishing you all the best of luck with your incoming new arrivals! x

@MrsMoggy shes gorgeous!
As for the thinners, I had to get my husband to do mine last time and likely will this time. But best thing you can do is pinch the fatty bit of your tummy and switch sides each time you do one.

I echo this, you really do get used to it and 10 days will over before you know it.

Glad you’re home @MrsMoggy I found a “birth stories” appointment, which is what they call it here, was really helpful in understanding what happened almost minute by minute. Hope you get some closure from it!

HRP1990 · 15/08/2024 09:26

How are you feeling today @MudandMoet? I think I’d had declined the second sweep too! I’ve not had one before so I wouldn’t know what to expect, but doesn’t sound ideal! Glad you got the all clear (and more importantly, labour ready hair 💁🏻‍♀️)

WinsandSam · 15/08/2024 09:50

@MrsMoggy she is absolutely adorable 🥰 bet you're so glad to be home.

I don't have experience but will be asking my partner to do it. Also read that if you hold ice on the area first it can numb it?! Might be worth a go

SantasRubiksCube · 15/08/2024 10:03

Had my scan today, baby is head down which is obviously the most important thing but he is also back to back so she advised a few things to try and get him to turn around but told me not to worry too much as I'm 37 weeks there's plenty of time still for him to make a little spin 😂

BeautyAndTheBump1 · 15/08/2024 10:12

@MrsMoggy she is beautiful! 😍 glad you've already got a birth debrief booked in. Hope you're feeling okay today. In regards to the blood thinners I used to put an ice pack on the area before hand for a few mins and it numbed the area and helped alot with bruising too!

MrsMoggy · 15/08/2024 11:10

Thank you for the blood thinner tips! I managed to inject myself this morning into my stomach after a lot of “argh I can’t do it”. I was going to do thighs but then found they are all too bruised as I had loads of injections in them at speed after birth due to a haemorrhage.

I was a bit mystified why I needed the thinners as I didn’t have any spinal or epidural, she was delivered just on gas and air (not by choice!). Apparently though If you lose blood then the remaining blood gets more sticky and more likely to clot which I had no idea was a thing. I thought the last thing you would need after losing blood would be a blood thinner, body is a strange thing!

PoppingUp · 15/08/2024 12:46

@SantasRubiksCube that's reassuring! My baby has been head down and back pointing forward for weeks but I feel like he's been going back to closer to transverse over the last few days and starting to twist round a bit.

Had a google and I had basically being doing all the worst things for positioning- sitting cross legged and lying down/leaning back flopped on the sofa of an evening - so now I'm trying to be really good and sit up properly, lean forward etc and get him back on track but oops! I think I need to build myself a sofa throne to stay propped up in comfort for the next few weeks 👸

Emmaev · 15/08/2024 15:52

I’ve been offered a sweep at my next appointment when I’ll be 39+2 but unsure whether or not to take it? I’m kinda thinking no, and just to let my body do what it’s gotta do. My midwife said there’s no telling if sweeps actually work, so I’m more on the no I won’t have one side.
what are everyone’s thoughts on sweeps?

Caroline2023 · 15/08/2024 15:53

@TripleESept24 hope your blood test goes ok today. I’m also having some liver issues with raised bile acid and itchiness! Waiting for a call back next week to have an appointment booked to discuss with a consultant. Are your bile acids raised too?

@MudandMoet hope things get moving naturally for you

Wanderlust86 · 15/08/2024 16:07

Congratulations @MrsMoggy, she's beautiful! 😍
I give blood thinner injections everyday to patients but don't like the thought of doing it on myself 🙈
Hope you get some answers at the debrief.

PinkWatermelon88 · 15/08/2024 16:30

@Emmaev i had three or four with my first and none worked, still ended up with induction. There are risks involved so make sure you’re fully informed and use the BRAIN analogy (benefits, risks, alternative, intuition, nothing)

TripleESept24 · 15/08/2024 17:48

@Caroline2023 no my bile levels were ok! Just my liver functionality levels that weren't! ALT levels last week were 102 and this all came about because of my itching.

Todays was the 3rd sample they've taken so if they haven't gone down will be liver screening then! They don't think it's cholestasis because my bile levels seem ok but there's clearly something not right with my liver.......

Will see what tomorrows results bring! Keep me updated how you're progress too! 🫶 Xx

MudandMoet · 15/08/2024 19:52

Thanks @Caroline2023 ...nothing yet. Mega lightning crotch all day today but not contractions unfortunately. Hope your consultant appointment comes through very soon

I can't believe we're all near this stage, thinking back to when we started this thread and now it's labour/sweep talk!

@Emmaev after yesterday's episode I would say not to bother but obviously it's your choice. I'm not having my second one. I think they work for the very few at full term but rarely otherwise.

TripleESept24 · 16/08/2024 07:27

Has anyone had this on their badger notes before or today? I can't get in this morning been trying about half an hour!

Typical I always keep an eye on it to see if my bloods have come in or not! 😭

36 weeks bang on today!

Xur · 16/08/2024 09:15

@TripleESept24 mine does this all the time! Just wait a bit and try again.

I had a scan yesterday and my chonk is chonking less now, dropped some precentiles in terms of weight progression but DR said not too worried about it at the moment and will have to come back for another scan in 2W time. Then I will be almost 39W 😂
