Hi, thought I'd start of thread for those of us who have been through fertility treatment and are due in October 2024 :-)

I'm 6 weeks today after FET. This was our first try for a sibling (also a FET pregnancy).

Nausea is kicking my butt this time around. How is everyone else feeling?

How is everyone feeling about their early pregnancy scans?

@Francesmalin Thank you for the brand ideas! And most importantly congratulations for the little girl, it's excellent news that everything is going well!

@IVF23 Did you find a natural deodorant that works well? If so, would you mind sharing the name of the brand? I am with you on Caudalie, I replaced my facewash and night cream/serum with their products and I like them so far. Their website is also super clear on which products are pregnancy safe, which is super useful.

@MsWonky I know, the deodorant thing seems excessive, although I am sure there is a good reason... It think it's partly to do with the aluminum used in the compounds by some brands?

IVF23 · 31/05/2024 10:02

@Melian i have been using Wild deodorant and I’ve been happy with it. I would say it takes a couple of weeks of adjustment but no problems at all since then!

2mumlife · 31/05/2024 15:18

@IVF23 It’s no wonder that rates of getting the whooping cough have been falling if they make it complicated. Really don’t see why they can’t make it routine to offer it at the 20 week scan?

@Melian I don’t wear makeup routinely, or face creams etc. Only changes I make is to moisturise bump - avoided stretch marks last time so hoping to avoid it again this time 🤞

@MsWonky Thank you. Just want to get Thursday over with so I know what’s what.

@Francesmalin Glad everything was ok with the scan :) I didn’t do any private scans last time but I’m really tempted to try a 4D scan this time, particularly as I can’t really feel baby this time I still feel quite disconnected from the pregnancy to be honest.

@2mumlife hope yesterday went well 💝

2mumlife · 07/06/2024 12:10

@MsWonky Thanks for asking. Everything went well. Measured 35mm yesterday, and was measuring 30mm last week, so consultant said as long as it’s not obviously gone down he’s not too worried, and would only start worrying if cervix looked like it was opening or if I was down at 25mm. He’s still suggested we keep a bit of a closer eye on things, so my original appointment for next week I’m still to go to for another check. I think that’s probably going to be the last cervix check though as they normally stop at 24 weeks 🤷‍♀️ Main thing is consultant said he’s not worried but keeping an eye on it

How is everyone getting on?

OP posts:
MsWonky · 07/06/2024 13:00

@2mumlife that’s really good news, sounds like your consultant is on top of it which must be a relief.

I’m 21 weeks today and have my anomaly scan on Monday so hoping that is all ok 🤞🏻

confuzzzzzled · 07/06/2024 20:03

Did anyone else not get told their measurements at their anomaly scan? I’ve seen people mentioned what percentile their baby was on at their 20w scan, but my sonographer didn’t mention baby’s size and I can’t see anything in my notes either?

2mumlife · 08/06/2024 06:49

@MsWonky Hope everything goes well on Monday. It’s lovey getting a proper look at baby at the anomaly scan.

@confuzzzzzled In my area they give you the head and abdominal circumference and cerebellum measurement but don’t do weight estimate this early. My first growth estimate is at 28 weeks. Still not heard babies heartbeat either. It varies a lot area to area

OP posts:
IVF23 · 08/06/2024 07:38

@2mumlife so glad to hear the measurements have gone up and consultant isn’t worried. Fingers crossed for good news at your next one.

@MsWonky good luck on Monday! Are you finding out the sex on Monday too?

@confuzzzzzled they briefly mentioned mine was average on most but that was it, the info isn’t on my badger app or anything.

After my anxiety having gone down quite a bit, it’s now unfortunately back up high worrying that something will go wrong. Not wanting to wish away the next 3 months but also just wanting her here safely now

MsWonky · 08/06/2024 07:58

@2mumlife @IVF23 thank you! We aren’t going to find out the sex which feels like a bucking the trend these days but quite fancy a surprise!

Really sorry to hear that the anxiety has returned @IVF23, pregnancy after IVF is its own minefield and I worry that I am letting it pass me by rather than accepting and enjoying it. Do you have any go to coping methods (mindfulness/therapy etc)?

2mumlife · 09/06/2024 07:27

@MsWonky Yay someone else who isn’t finding out sex! 😂 we’re in the minority. I do have a suspicion though about what we’re having.

@IVF23 Hoping next scan is the last. Finally starting to feel a bit more movement as well now which is making me feel better. I HATE having an anterior placenta it really does reduce baby movements so much. Any reason the anxiety has picked up? You’re nearly at the point where even if baby were to be born they have a really good chance of survival :) I always thing of it a bit like the home stretch

OP posts:
IVF23 · 09/06/2024 08:14

@MsWonky ah that will be a lovely surprise! Do you have a sense of what you may be having?

@MsWonky yeah absolutely a minefield! Yes I do have ways of coping, right now I am just trying to be kind to myself and keep reminding myself that chances are everything is ok as there is nothing to indicate otherwise.

@2mumlife nothing in particular I don’t think, it just comes in waves. Yes I am past viability now so just trying to remind myself of that! 25 weeks tomorrow. Last few weeks of the second trimester 😱 Great you are feeling more movement, it’s so reassuring isn’t ot.

IVF23 · 09/06/2024 08:16

Also, we have started buying things now which has helped me feel more excitement than anxiety, which is lovely!

2mumlife · 09/06/2024 19:28

@IVF23 I think just focussing on baby moving and doing things that make it real can help when you’re feeling anxious. Not long to go!

Sammyma · 15/06/2024 08:51

Hi everyone. Is anyone’s partner feeling movement yet? I only felt my baby move a couple of weeks ago and then now I’m feeling him on the outside too.
Also, I have started to have a consistent pain in one butt cheek… I’m thinking it’s sciatica. Anyone else experienced this and found ways to ease the pain?

TheYorkshirePudding · 15/06/2024 21:25

@Sammyma Yep DH felt him move since 22 weeks, I’ve felt him move since 16 weeks on the inside but it’s a whole new ball game when you can see or feel them move. He seems to be extra strong just this past week.

I’ve had some hip pain and going for a walk helps, but not had sciatica. I have such restless legs on an evening! It’s awful. I’m busy on the go all day and on my feet most of the day too. I really look forward to a 30 minute sit down before bed and bang, it starts! Has anyone got this and any tips? Another thing is heel pain. I think now I’ve got a bump I seem to have altered my posture to compensate for being front-heavy and I wonder if I’m leaning back on my heels more? I wear trainers all day so comfy sensible footwear. Any tips for this too anyone?

And how is everyone else getting on?

Sammyma · 15/06/2024 21:37

It really does feel like all of a sudden the movement is so strong.
sorry to hear you’re having a few aches too @TheYorkshirePudding . Insoles may help keep everything aligned.

Francesmalin · 16/06/2024 09:00

Maybe you can try with a belly support band? It should help with back pain too

2mumlife · 16/06/2024 19:58

@Sammyma I’ve felt some movement on outside but partner hasn’t felt yet. To be honest with a toddler we don’t have the time we had with first pregnancy to sit around waiting for baby to move 😂 but also I think anterior placenta just doesn’t help at all. Most the time I’m aware of movements it’s when I’m lying next to toddler getting them to sleep, but think that’s one of the few times I’m ever lying around these days.

I was lucky in last pregnancy never got sciatica or anything like that. Never needed a belly belt so no advice. I’ve had friends go to physios / chiropractors though during pregnancy to help with various issues

Hi all. It’s been quiet for a few weeks. How is everyone doing?

It’s the first day of the 3rd trimester for me today 🥳

TheYorkshirePudding · 01/07/2024 14:37

@IVF23 Congratulations! 3rd trimester! How are you getting on?

I’ve been diagnosed with GDM - they did the test because I had high ketones and family history. First appointment this week.

I’m feeling very excited to meet baby 💙 but just wondering how this GDM will impact the birth.

How’s everyone doing?

IVF23 · 01/07/2024 20:27

@TheYorkshirePudding ah I’m sorry to hear that. I hope you’re able to get a good management plan together and your bloods stabilise well 🤞🏻 It’s so exciting getting closer isn’t it, time seems to be going quickly now!

Thank you! I haven’t been feeling too good the last couple of weeks, but it’s hard to tell whether it’s illness or pregnancy! The heartburn is terrible and has been making me physically sick at times 😩 But other than enjoying buying things and getting things ready now!!

2mumlife · 02/07/2024 09:49

@IVF23 Aww congrats on making it to the third trimester! I'll be joining you in the third trimester next week :) If you're having bad heartburn I definitely recommend asking your GP for an omeprazole prescription - it works wonders!

@TheYorkshirePudding Sorry to hear you have GD. Its better its picked up through. I have my GD test in 2 weeks and hoping nothing flags! I think how it impacts birth etc really depends on how well your GD is managed. They'll probably offer extra growth scans, and the concern would be that if baby is looking quite big they might suggest you consider induction. I think its also not unusual for GD babies to be more prone to jaundice or need a little extra care after birth. Hopefully though everything will be straight forward enough x

I'm doing well. I was unwell 2 weeks ago and pretty sure I've actually had covid, as was vomiting, and still have a cough now and totally exhausted. Its put a bit of a downer on things feeling so tired. But, my wife (😮) and I had a lovely small wedding last weekend - we were very lucky sun was out for out outside wedding. Was a nice day with just a few family and friends

IVF23 · 02/07/2024 11:30

Thanks @2mumlife I will try to get a GP appointment!

Ahh congratulations on your wedding!! How exciting. You had a lovely weekend for it! Sorry to hear you’ve been unwell with Covid. It’s hard when illnesses just knock you out even more when pregnant!

LuxeBiscuit · 02/07/2024 12:52

@IVF23 great news that you've reached the 3rd trimester, not long now.

@2mumlife congratulations on your wedding!

@TheYorkshirePudding as 2mumlife said, it's best to catch it early so that you can manage everything going forward. Hoping it's relatively easy going. I'll have my test in a few weeks and wouldn't be surprised if I receive the same results.
