@PeppedUp thank you! Yes getting a bit better every day! 🤞

Mum2b2024 · 29/05/2024 02:04

Is anyone taking any vitamins postpartum? I was looking at pregnacare but again wasn't sure or what ones.

TheBirdintheCave · 29/05/2024 02:17

@Mum2b2024 Just the vitamin d I've always been taking. No one's mentioned anything to me about needing to take anything else.

Nelliepledge · 29/05/2024 11:19

Anyone else still waiting and getting fed up? 40+4 today, induction booked in another week but the days are so long right now!

🙋🏻‍♀️

41+1, being induced on Friday. Since Sunday I've had shooting sciatica type pains in my lower back, had stayed pretty active up til then but now it really hurts to walk and I'm completely done.

I've tried to stay open minded regarding my birth plan throughout, so that however he arrives I wouldn't be disappointed. I am a bit apprehensive but mainly glad there's an end point in sight.

@TheBirdintheCave ok thanks :)

What nappies do people use? We are using pampers atm size 0 (as had some vouchers) gonna ask at midwife appt today but we think coz he Is in between sizes he keeps moving too much as well and the velcro comes loose and keeps having accidents and v frustrating! Feels constantly changing his clothes! I know will happen but when feels constant is hard but then sometimes it's fine and no accidents and we like wtf haha.

Emmacb82 · 30/05/2024 10:01

We used pampers 0 for the first few days and then quickly moved to 1 as they were too small. Might be worth trying the next size up.
We have finally been discharged from midwife today as baby has gone over birth weight at 3 weeks, so happy with her as it’s always a bit daunting with breastfeeding as you can’t see what they’re getting. Hope everyone else is doing well and those still waiting wishing you luck!

SarahB88 · 30/05/2024 11:18

@Mum2b2024 were using size 1 nappies. I checked in the hospital if they were correct as they seemed a bit big but we just fasten them tightly and have been told they’re correct. Our little girl dropped to 6lb 11 and they were still correct then, she’s now up to 7lb 12 and still in size 1 with no leaks.

TheBirdintheCave · 30/05/2024 16:00

@Mum2b2024 Marcie is in cloth nappies, currently Motherease Sandies in XS. Utterly bomb proof.

LondonGirl1992 · 30/05/2024 19:56

How are everyone’s babies sleeping so far? We have been lucky to have a good sleeper but last night he wouldn’t settle until 2am and I’ve felt so wiped today!

Emmacb82 · 31/05/2024 07:01

Sleep? What’s that!! Haha I cannot get mine to settle in her crib at all. If I put her in there too early post feed she wakes up straight away, if I wait a bit longer I end up falling asleep with her and it’s too late. So basically for the last 3 weeks I have spent pretty much all day and night holding her. Something I’ve never done with my other 2. When they go back to school next week I’m going to start trying to settle her in her Moses basket downstairs in the daytime and then work on the nights. I think because I do night shifts I’m used to the exhaustion so I’m coping pretty well. But I would like to actually lay down and enjoy my bed!

So far we seem to have a second unicorn. Just like her big brother, Marcella is a very good sleeper. Fingers crossed it stays that way 🙏🏻

SarahB88 · 31/05/2024 13:14

Our Drew is a mixed bag when it comes to sleeping. We put her down in her pram bassinet during the day to sleep so she’s not always contact napping on us. Took a few goes to get her to go down but she’s perfect in there now and goes down immediately. Crib upstairs in our room is a mixed bag though, we had a really good night last night where she settled quickly after a feed and was down 12-3. Fairly easy to go down after the 3am feed but woke a little bit. Other nights she just won’t settle at all so we never know what we’re going to get!

We seem to be having a real issue with trapped wind so I’ve had to ring the health visitor as I’ve tried all positions and massage with her and she’s still got a hard little tummy. I get some wind out the bottom but no burps!

PeppedUp · 31/05/2024 13:44

We’re a week now and last couple of nights have been okay - hopefully it lasts! He’s gone down around 11 and woken every 3 hours or so. Keeping him somewhat awake in the hours before bedtime seems to help. Before that it was repeated failed attempts to get him in his Moses basket until about 3am.

We’ve started to see his first reflex smiles too. Realise they’re not the real thing but still so cute 🥰

MrsB2005 · 31/05/2024 20:04

@Sa11yCinnamon Hope your induction has / is going well & that you'll soon be cuddling your little bundle! X

Sa11yCinnamon · 31/05/2024 21:26

@MrsB2005 thank you! I'm on the antenatal ward, have had my first gel and due the second soon. Maybe naively I didn't realise I have to wait for a bed in the labour ward to have my waters broken (if they don't go spontaneously) and there's a bit of a queue so I may be waiting a while yet! Cramping a fair bit now so hopefully that's a good sign 🤞🏼

Exactly the same here! 40+6 today and induction booked on Wednesday. Tried sweep 3 times including today but my internal os is still closed. Really hoping to go into labour myself before then but nothing seems to be working at the moment.
Has anyone else had an induction? How was your experience/any advice?

Congratulations to everyone who has had their little ones!

PeppedUp · 01/06/2024 00:16

Good luck with those cramps @Sa11yCinnamon - sounds promising and in the meantime hope you can get some rest x

Best of luck to everyone still waiting as well. Looking forward to hearing about more arrivals soon ❤️

I'm also still waiting ✋️ Now that it's the middle of the night, I'm officially 41 weeks. This is my 3rd, and although my first two were born at 40+10 and 40+8, I had long slow labours both times and was already having regular contractions at this stage before, so it feels odd this time!

I won't be booking an induction, but I have got appointments booked for additional monitoring if I get closer to 42 weeks.

Hoping that maybe some of you are delivering tonight, and not just waking up with heartburn and a full bladder like me 😆

venus93 · 01/06/2024 11:32

@Edgeofthesea @Nelliepledge looks like we are all 41 today, happy 41 weeks! Hope this weekend is the one for us, everytime i wake overnight i have that moment of realising i'm still not in labour which makes the nights longer than usual aswell 😅 @Edgeofthesea I also would love to keep waiting without an induction but also getting quite nervous about baby/placenta especially in the moments when she isnt moving/is sleeping so booked at 41+4 although im still in two minds about it. Your previous births are encouraging to hear about🤞🏻🤞🏻

@Sa11yCinnamon hope it all went well for you!

Sa11yCinnamon · 01/06/2024 12:39

I don't want to scare anyone but in the interests of being open and honest I am NOT having a good time. Have had all three gels and waiting to be examined by a doctor in two hours but last time I was only 1cm dilated. Cramps are excruciating, I had less than two hours sleep last night. Tens machine is taking the edge off now and I've found a semi comfortable position on all fours but I'm genuinely worried about how I'm going to continue to cope. All of the staff are really lovely though. I'm rambling now!

@Sa11yCinnamon that sounds really tough. I hope the doctor is able to provide you with some good news or options to get things moving or more comfortable. Sending lots of positive thoughts x

Sorry to hear that, i hope it gets better for you! Thanks for keeping us updated. Are they able to give you/did you want an epidural maybe?

Sa11yCinnamon · 01/06/2024 14:14

@venus93 I need to be 4cm for an epidural, hoping to qualify in about three days 😂 (I jest but will absolutely be taking one!)
