Does anyone know the earliest I can request a sweep? I'm 40 weeks tomorrow and my next midwife appointment isn't until 40+5, however no discussion of a sweep was mentioned. Not sure if I can phone up and ask for one before then?

Hey all. Our beautiful baby girl was born this morning, waters went yesterday and then after 3 hour labour this morning she arrived. Cannot believe I am a girl mummy after 2 lovely boys. They are besotted with her. I look forward to seeing everyone else’s updates, right now I’m just going to keep staring at her 🥰💞

Congratulations!!

Hey all,
We had our beautiful baby girl on the 5th May! She’s absolutely lovely and cuddly, and she’s just slotted into our lives so effortlessly, like she was always meant to be here 💜 I just keep watching her!! 💜

@Mum2b2024 I had a planned CS, our baby was breech too. I don’t have anything to compare it too, but it went really smoothly, the doctors were brilliant and very reassuring throughout. We took our playlist along too which was nice and calming. Later on once the initial pain relief began to wear off I was in quite a bit of pain, but day by day it’s improved a little and I’m feeling better and walking about a bit too. Wishing you all the best with your journey 🌟

@Emmacb82 congratulations to you 🥰

Wishing everyone else lots of positive and happy vibes xxx

Congratulations!!

Dexnt15 · 14/05/2024 02:06

Our baby girl arrived into the world on 7/5/24 and after an extended stay in hospital due to some feeding issues we made it home last night!

currebtly awake while she cluster feeds on me for what seems like hours now, but she is so worth it!

@LondonGirl1992 i had a planned section last week and honestly it was amazing! So relaxed and everyone was so lovely. There are a lot of people in there’s which can be overwhelming, but they all introduce themselves and are there for a reason.

Recovery so far is going well, actually less pain than I was expecting and more in my back than my tummy. Make sure you take the time to recover and don’t forget your stomach muscles have been cut, so you can’t twist around like you used too! 😀

PeppedUp · 14/05/2024 06:35

@Dexnt15 congratulations! Glad you were happy with your birth and hope you’re enjoying being back at home x

@Judethepud I haven’t had proper contractions but previously had cramping that has now disappeared. It’s completely different to my first where I felt no signs until I woke up in labour one day and then steadily progressed until he was born. I’m hoping this time that my body is at least prepping so that when I do go into labour it’s not too drawn out.

Mum2b2024 · 14/05/2024 17:12

Just curious, If anyone who has had a c section used a tens machine afterwards to help with the pain a bit? I have hired one but now won't be using it as having to have an elective c section and read can use afterwards which I did think was odd lol

Sa11yCinnamon · 14/05/2024 17:32

Congratulations @Dexnt15, that sounds like a lovely birth experience!

@Dexnt15 congratulations :) also good to hear about Ur c section and that recovery going well! Hope it continues and enjoy your new bundle of joy!

cosylife · 14/05/2024 18:22

@Dexnt15 congratulations!

@Mum2b2024 omg I couldn’t have thought of anything worse to use personally 😂 the midwife had to massage my tummy to check everything was okay and it was so weird! The pain is more like a big cut and the tens machine is to relieve pain in the muscles (if I’m right). After my section the pain was minimal though, I just kept on top of paracetamol and ibuprofen and healed really quickly as well.

Mum2b2024 · 14/05/2024 21:46

@cosylife yes I did think it was v weird to say on the website I hired from that u can use afterwards! Oh bless u. Ah ok that's good to hear. I'm glad u healed quickly :) yeah I have been told to make sure I take painkillers if feeling like I need it and not let it get too painful and then u need them if that makes sense. Did u have to stay in long? I know it varies for everyone of course. I'm a bit scared about the catheter too. How was that if u don't mind me asking?

Mum2b2024 · 14/05/2024 21:46

@LondonGirl1992 good luck tomorrow!! Hope it all goes ok!

LondonGirl1992 · 14/05/2024 22:10

Mum2b2024 · 13/05/2024 23:12

@LondonGirl1992 wishing u lots of luck!! U don't know what Ur having either do u? It's my first too and we kept a surprise. How did the pre op go?

Thanks so much! It feels so surreal- bags are all packed and I’m ready to go!

we are having a surprise and I just can’t wait to find out who this little wiggly worm is! ❤️ The pre-op was fine, they just tell you what to bring, take some bloods, give you some meds and talk you through the day.

fingers crossed it goes smoothly!

Mum2b2024 · 14/05/2024 22:43

@LondonGirl1992 yeah I bet!!

Aww how exciting! Thanks that's good to know. Yes fingers crossed for you!! Take care x

SarahB88 · 14/05/2024 22:51

How exciting, good luck @LondonGirl1992

nh93 · 14/05/2024 23:58

goodluck @LondonGirl1992 hope it all goes smoothly and baby is in your arms soon ❤️

Yourowgirl · 15/05/2024 07:47

Thinking of you, and all the best for meeting your baby at last @LondonGirl1992

MrsB2005 · 15/05/2024 09:03

Good Luck today @LondonGirl1992 !

How's everyone else doing? Monday afternoon / evening - I thought we were ready. TMI lots of going to the toilet, cramping that turned into tightenings and although spaced out seemed to be getting more intense. About 5 hours in, we were just debating when we should ring as had been advised to ring at first sign of symptoms due to previous births ... I said I'd have a quick shower and put the last few bits I wanted out when the tightenings died off so didnt bother ringing in and yesterday nothing at all although had the best nights sleep last night that I've had in a while.

I just want to know when now (I hate the it might be today, might be in 2 weeks).

Sa11yCinnamon · 15/05/2024 09:58

Good luck today @LondonGirl1992 !!

@MrsB2005 I am also hating not knowing when. I’ve had some cramps and pressure but nothing else so I doubt it’s happening any time soon.

@Mum2b2024 did remind me to hire a tens machine though, thank you for that 😊 so he can stay put til it arrives!

OP posts:
MrsB2005 · 15/05/2024 10:00

@Sa11yCinnamon You do know he will turn up the day / day before the tens machine arrives dont you ?!? 😉

Sa11yCinnamon · 15/05/2024 10:04

@MrsB2005 I paid £1.99 extra for express delivery so it’s either that or he’ll take even longer to make sure that was a waste 😂

OP posts:
Mum2b2024 · 15/05/2024 10:40

@Sa11yCinnamon haha that's ok 😃😆 hope it turns up before the baby!

PeppedUp · 15/05/2024 11:35

I feel exactly the same @MrsB2005! I’m actually feeling a bit flat as I have been over this pregnancy for months and am really limited in mobility due to pelvic girdle pain. I know two weeks doesn’t sound like a long time to wait for something but when it’s a baby that’s going to flip your life upside down (and end all your never ending pregnancy symptoms) it feels like forever!

Also we used ovulation sticks when trying to conceive and they would have put my due date a week later than my dating scan, which I have started worrying about again having not thought about it since the first trimester!

SarahB88 · 15/05/2024 11:49

I’m going to get my nails done this afternoon for some relaxation to try and bring this baby on. Had a dream last night that my waters broke at the appointment, not sure if I want it to come true or not at this point 😂

Sweep number 2 tomorrow. Really hoping it does something. I’ve been 3/5ths engaged for weeks now!

Twinkles18 · 15/05/2024 15:46

hope everyone’s doing great in their little baby bubbles and those of you still waiting, that it goes quickly for you 💕
we had our wee son on Sunday, exactly a week early! He’s doing great..have a question about milk coming in. I’m bottle feeding and the milk has came in, my boobs are huuuuuuge and so sore. Does anyone know how long it usually takes for it to go back to normal! I can’t remember from my first born 🙈

Judethepud · 15/05/2024 16:25

I've been contracting on and off since Monday night 🙈 things got really intense last night and lost my mucous plug so thought that was it. Phoned midwife and she told me to take co codomol and try to stay at home for a bit longer, things then eased up and contractions have spaced out now. Still having them but only every 10 minutes or so.
This is my first baby, can't believe it's not actually come yet and I'm still at home contracting, hope things pick up tonight!
