Hi guys in September I found out I had a missed miscarriage. I have just found out I’m pregnant again and am so nervous, I’m terrified the same thing will happen again. I have an early scan booked but it’s not until the start of March. How did you guys cope with the anxieties of pregnancy after miscarriage

Hey ladies,

I can see this thread has gone a bit quiet but wanted to feel some reassurance! I had a MMC in May this year, waited for 1 natural period and we started trying again. I took a test 6 days before my period and it was BFN, however I’ve been absolutely exhausted so today (3 days before my period) I took a test and it was BFP!! (Although lighter than control line)

Worried it could be a chemical or if it’s viable lose this one again. I just can’t believe it until I get some solid proof that there’s another baby growing in there 😔it’s so sad that I can’t feel excitement!

Hello @DogMom62

I'm so sorry to hear you've had a previous mmc. I hope you're going easy on yourself 🤍

I think it's uncommon to get a positive test if it wasn't a true positive unless this appeared after the recommended time. You're best off waiting another 24 hours or more to see if it gets darker.

I have had 2 experiences where I was testing every day (even though I knew it was impossible to get a positive in the time after ovulation). One time I thought I was pregnant as the line showed but was very faint, it must have been the dye as I did look at this after the recommended time.
However for this pregnancy it was because the test was picking up really low volumes of the HCG.

I really hope this is positive for you, sending you all the luck in the world as the pregnancy journey can be really tough 🤍

January0901 · 10/07/2024 18:09

Hiya @DogMom62 so sorry to hear what happened earlier in the year! I would wait another day or 2 and test again just to make sure! I think positives are usually pretty accurate as long as you look within the recommended time! The waiting is horrible like all you can think about but hopefully this is good new for you!

hi @DogMom62

I’m so sorry to hear about your MMC, it’s such an awful thing to experience. I think when you took the pregnancy test and it was BFN I’m presuming your hcg levels were low hence why the test couldn’t pick it up. But now that you have a BFP I think the best thing to do is check your HCG levels via blood test to see that it is rising. Also you can wait a few days and check and see that the line is getting darker.

In my situation, my HCG was below 5 so knew that the pregnancy hormone had left my body. As soon as I got a positive ovulation test I tried again and ping fell pregnant. Had to do a few blood tests to check that the HCG levels were rising and so far all is well. Currently 33 weeks pregnant now so don’t lose hope.

It is so hard falling pregnant after an MMC as you are constantly fearful of every scan of everything but have hope, and in time things get easier.

Keep us updated! Xx

@Whiterose123 @January0901 how are you guys?? How’s your pregnancy going! When are you due? Xx 😍

Whiterose123 · 10/07/2024 19:26

@Rainbowpeanut02 i'm due 23rd August, it feels crazy to say that the baby will be here next month after everything! 🤍🕊️

Feeling ok overall, some days I feel more wiped out than others but definitely slowing down. I can't wait to start maternity leave, currently working and hoping to finish between 9th-16th Aug but will decide closer to the time. I'm also hoping I will give birth close to the due date rather than early as I feel like I need these last few weeks but obviously baby decides when they are ready!

How are you? When are you due?

So sorry to hear about your loss - it's never easy 😢 sounds like you're still testing quite early so if it was darker than the control you'd need to brace yourself for potential twins! All you can do is know that you are currently pregnant and take it day by day. I know it's hard though, I spent so much time googling stats. Best of luck!

January0901 · 10/07/2024 19:47

Hey im due the 17th october so still a few months left for me! Feeling ok just so tired lol and still a bit panicky with the movements as I have an anterior placenta but other than thst all good! Got a 3D scan booked next week as was told to book it by 28 weeks because of my placenta place!

OP posts:
Whiterose123 · 11/07/2024 07:25

@January0901 I've heard that about the scan too with an anterior placenta! I didn't get a scan after my 20 week appointment but wish I did. How amazing that will be for you 🤍

The movements might change again soon and get even stronger as you enter the third trimester. All of a sudden it goes from gentle pokes to full on kicks/wriggling!

January0901 · 11/07/2024 07:57

@Whiterose123 yeah its so weird some days when he moves it will feel really strong and i can actually see my stomach move from the outside then other days i just get little kicks. Love feeling him move though! Do you know what you’re having?

I'm pregnant for the second time after the first ended in a MMC at 6 weeks. Absolutely terrified of it happening again.

Like the first time, I've had no nausea at all, just fatigued and needing to pee more often. For those who had a successful pregnancy after a miscarriage, were your symptoms different?

Your story is exactly the same as mine. I too have just been feeling tired and needing the toilet more often, my boobs don’t feel as heavy as they did with my first pregnancy which is worrying me! I do think I’ve found out about this pregnancy very early though as my test lines are light, I’m going to keep testing everyday/every other day to see if there’s progression. It really is so stressful.

Whiterose123 · 11/07/2024 12:46

@bouncingblob I've had 2 mmc, one where I had zero symptoms throughout and could just sense something wasn't right and another where I did have symptoms and it was all unexpected. However I did get super ill from it and also had infection, but will never know if that was related or the reasons why they both ended.

For all 3 pregnancy's I've had an upset stomach throughout the first trimester which terrified me as i know most people get constipation and that's what had happened for the first two, so I thought it was happening again. There were also periods where I would feel very normal and 'lose' symptoms almost but they came back after a few days.

I still went on mumsnet and googled/read every symptom/outcome possible though, so even though my advice would be to try and trust your body this time I know it's hard to do that after loss.

Hope this one sticks for both of you 🤍

Hi! Just over 10 weeks post LMP now (but think it is probably 9 weeks as ovulated late). Same symptoms as before, and we have decided to wait on 12 week scan to enjoy our summer holidays.

We are both terrified of it happening again, hubby in particular just refuses to have any baby talk at all until a scan confirms a viable pregnancy, the last one hit him so hard.

Anyways...12 week scan is only a couple of weeks away. Fingers crossed!

Whiterose123 · 08/08/2024 13:21

Hey @January0901 how far along are you now? I'm 38 weeks tomorrow, so just two weeks until my due date. We've come so far! 🤍

Baby is engaged and very low, there's so much pressure in my pelvis right now, it's super uncomfortable. I think the midwife will be discussing options tomorrow on if baby does not arrive by their due date. I really want labour to start on its own and so far touch wood I have not had any complications/risks with baby continuing to grow on the curve/centile, but will have to see how it goes over the next 2-3 weeks.

I can't believe we will be holding our babies soon.

January0901 · 08/08/2024 13:47

@bouncingblob aww how exciting all the best wishes for your scan in a few weeks!

@Whiterose123 ooo how exciting not long now! Sending lots of well wishes for your labour! Im 30 weeks at the moment but baby is measuring ahead so been sent for gestational diabetes tests but theyve all been negative so just expecting a big baby i think

Honestly completely fine. I have had, touch wood, such an easy pregnancy, only really needing to pee a lot and being bloated,.plus recently some back pain at night. But ironically that's what increased the anxiety because the symptoms were the same as my MMC so I never really felt pregnant.

Whiterose123 · 24/08/2024 14:42

Congratulations @bouncingblob so happy your scan went well!

it was my due date yesterday, but baby seems very comfy! I'm bouncing on the ball, eating dates, walking, raspberry tea but nothing seems to be working with my cervix still closed. I know baby will arrive when they are ready but now I've reached my due date it's like a switch has gone off and I just want baby here.

January0901 · 25/08/2024 09:44

@Whiterose123 oooh how exciting any day now! Wishing you a nice labour, hopefully your little one will get a wriggle on and youll be cuddling them soon! X

OP posts:
Whiterose123 · 07/09/2024 20:37

Hi @January0901 he made us wait 10 days more than my due date but baby boy arrived on the 3rd September.

I ended up going in hospital to be induced on the 1st, but my body started slowly labouring naturally at the same time.

I can't say my birth was perfect or what I would have picked, but he's here and safe which is the main thing! I've just fed him and put him down for a sleep. He really is the cutest little baby and has a full head of hair haha. I am in full on mama mode, I can't stop staring at him, so thankful he is ours.

When I think about the first messages posted in this thread to now it makes me well up. How are you getting on? xx

January0901 · 08/09/2024 00:56

Aww @Whiterose123 im so happy for you and that your little bundle is here safe and sound!
I still have 6 weeks to go and am definitely struggling with the acid reflux and back ache now! I had a growth scan recently and have been told the baby is on the 95th percentile! Not got gestational diabetes so obviously just have been making a big baby! Got another scan in just under 2 weeks and then will be speaking to the consultant about what to do going forward so feeling a bit nervous!

congratulations again on your little bundle!!

Hey ladies!

Just wanted to share that I had a very successful 12 week scan! Brought my due date forward by a couple of days to 20th March 🌸 baby did not like being prodded with the ultrasound probe and performed many forward rolls and flips - may have the next Team GB gymnastics gold medalist! But we got a little thumbs up, a picture of their foot and them also doing the downward dog pose! The sonographer did say it was a feisty baby 😂

I know you can’t see the nub but I’m just getting boy vibes!
