Pregnant after miscarriage

Hi guys in September I found out I had a missed miscarriage. I have just found out I’m pregnant again and am so nervous, I’m terrified the same thing will happen again. I have an early scan booked but it’s not until the start of March. How did you guys cope with the anxieties of pregnancy after miscarriage

@Rainbowpeanut02 congratulations so pleased for you!!!
Honestly all this waiting is driving me crazy, I have an early scan in just under 2 weeks as I have PCOS so don’t ovulate the same time every month so should be able to see how far along I am and praying to see a heartbeat

Rainbowpeanut02 · 16/02/2024 14:59

@January0901 awwww congrats! How far along do you think you will be? I will keep my fingers and toes crossed for you!

I know the waiting is absolutely awful. I wonder if I could keep getting scans say every 2 weeks if it will help with the stress of it all but I don’t think so, I think we would become more stressed before each scan.

A good friend of mine has PCOS and funny enough her pregnancy has been as smooth as butter. She’s living her best life haha. Her first trimester she was just fatigued, me I had everything, guess it’s the luck of the draw haha xx

January0901 · 16/02/2024 15:04

By the time of the early scan I think I’ll be between 6 and a half to 7 and a half weeks. I don’t think I could wait until 12 weeks after what happened last time. I know things can go wrong even after they see a heartbeat but what happened to me last time was just that the heartbeat never started so I think if I can go and see a heartbeat it will hopefully reassure me a bit

OP posts:
Rainbowpeanut02 · 16/02/2024 21:04

@January0901 The same thing happened to me. I went in thinking I was around 6+5 but was actually 5 so just saw the sac as it was still early. Went back at around 8 weeks and baby passed at 7+3 so never got to see the heartbeat. I just think of it as lil bubs was sleeping the whole time and heaven took them when they were asleep as they were too good for this earth. Gives me comfort thinking of it this way.

I’m currently not living in the UK, but am from the UK so am aware of their system, as my hospital follows the British system also and I find it bonkers that you have to wait 12 weeks for a scan and have to pay out of pocket for early scans. And then waiting for your 20 week scan, it’s just kind of cruel to me. I just feel as if there is no support when people have an MC, you’re kind of just left to deal with it, just really cruel in my opinion. I know every hospital is different and there are some amazing people there, just a shame that the same support is not provided everywhere xx

January0901 · 16/02/2024 22:35

@Rainbowpeanut02 yeah I agree with the lack of support. I keep hoping if I get to a milestone I’ll worry less but I think this whole pregnancy is going to be full of worry which is a shame as I really want to enjoy pregnancy I am just terrified of something going wrong and I still have like 6 weeks until I’m 12 weeks. Don’t know how I’m going to cope that long. I am really hoping I’ll settle a bit if I get to see a heartbeat with an early scan as I know once there’s a heartbeat the chances of things going wrong decreases

OP posts:
Rainbowpeanut02 · 16/02/2024 23:41

@January0901 yeah I know it sounds like a long time but it actually does fly by quite quick. Don’t get me wrong, there are times when it feels like time is going so slow but I’m surprised now by how quick time is flying. I mean, we are already in the middle of February, less than 10 months till Christmas again! Haha

The nerves will always be there. Honestly, I found for me, I felt good after the scan, you are reassured all is well but then a few days later the worry creeps back in again. I think it’s a natural instinct to worry and shows you care. Your scan will be here before you know it. Xx

toomanyleggings · 16/02/2024 23:49

Probably not want you want to hear, but I coped by not having scans and thinking that there was nothing I could do about it if there was anything wrong. I’d had a missed miscarriage previously around the 10 week mark so I knew going in for scans before that wasn’t going to reassure me much. I also had spotting all the way through with all mine so wanted to avoid internal scans. I actually was far more relaxed before the 20 week mark than I was later when you have to monitor movements etc

Rainbowpeanut02 · 22/02/2024 09:13

@January0901 hi! How you feeling? Looking forward to your appointment? Xx

January0901 · 22/02/2024 10:03

Hi @Rainbowpeanut02 its been moved back to Tuesday and honestly I’m just so nervous I have been so emotional I am just terrified of history repeating itself but am praying for the best how are you feeling?

OP posts:
Whiterose123 · 22/02/2024 11:36

You've got this @January0901 wishing you all the luck 🍀🌈

I just booked a 16 week scan for in 3weeks and I'm still petrified that it will be a missed miscarriage, so I don't think the worry goes away for some people. Hoping once I can begin to feel baby move or show even signs of a bump I might relax a little more.

Keep us updated on your journey. We're always here to listen. The odds are on your side.

Rainbowpeanut02 · 22/02/2024 20:29

@January0901 ohhhh yes the nerves I know so well. I think this is something that goes away with time but your scan date will be here before you know it.

@Whiterose123 ohhhh amazing how are you feeling? I’m hitting 13 weeks and I feel like I’m ready to see the end of the first trimester. How’s the 2nd trimester treating you? My doc wants to move my 20 week anomaly scan to 16 weeks, not sure if that’s good or not. Have a general scan at 14 weeks just to go over my blood work results also.

January0901 · 22/02/2024 20:47

Thank you and I am sure you will be absolutely fine! They say the risks of things going wrong reduce loads after 12 weeks

OP posts:
Whiterose123 · 22/02/2024 20:49

@Rainbowpeanut02 I'm feeling ok overall, I'm 14 weeks tomorrow and still really tired and nauseous.

I'm also wondering when the burst of energy and glowing skin comes as i'm really not at my best right now 🤣

I had my blood work done at 13 weeks, but I'm really not sure on the process from here as I've never got this far before.

How are you? There's not long to go until your 14 week one, if you're hitting 13 weeks now!

Rainbowpeanut02 · 22/02/2024 21:36

@January0901 yeah that’s very true, just feel like the nerves and the anxiety messes with you a lot though. How far along will you be on Tuesday? Xx

@Whiterose123 I’m the same as you as I’ve never hit this far before so just riding the waves I guess. The acne has gone down for me now but I definitely haven’t got the pregnancy glow. I’m just trying to function everyday and the nausea is for me I thought was dying down but it’s definitely kicked up a notch. Doesn’t help that I’m the biggest baby when sick but refuse to take medication as I’m just scared for the baby. My doctor mentioned that by 16 weeks the nausea should start to die down hopefully. Have you had any new symptoms? Xx

January0901 · 23/02/2024 02:07

@Rainbowpeanut02 ill only be 6.5-7.5 weeks depending on when I ovulated so still a while until 12 weeks :-( x

OP posts:
Whiterose123 · 23/02/2024 07:23

@Rainbowpeanut02 I would say the acne is a new symptom for me.

I also feel like there's been a lot more tugging/pulling/stabbing pains the last week. (I presume from growing)

Weirdly, I mainly get it on my left side and in my pelvic area, but it's not new to me as I had it in the first trimester, it's just odd. I got checked for anything that could be causing it and everything looks normal, so putting it down to stretching.

Let me know if you get any new ones!

@January0901 the weeks go by so slow in the first trimester, but the 12 week scan will be here in no time!

Emmaev · 23/02/2024 07:51

I’m unsure if I’ll get the flu jab but I will get whooping cough, although nothing has been offered to me yet.

Anyone else’s skin just that of a teenager these days? I usually suffer from rosacea but since I found out I was pregnant the flare up has been insane. And I can’t take usual medications for it because of pregnancy. Can’t see this pregnancy glow in sight

January0901 · 23/02/2024 13:12

Well it has been an eventful day, after some spotting I was given a scan, all looks good so far no heartbeat yet but it turns out I’m only 5.5 weeks atm so I have been booked in for another scan to check the heartbeat in 2 weeks.

OP posts:
January0901 · 23/02/2024 13:12

@Emmaev im only right at the start but for the last week my skin has been the spottiest its been since I started puberty

OP posts:
Emmaev · 23/02/2024 13:41

I’m so sorry I commented on completely the wrong thread and I have no idea how I did it. That’s why I was talking about a flu jab.

In answer to your original post I can totally understand your anxiety, I had the same this pregnancy after a previous loss. It’s very difficult to feel at ease, we just had our 12 week scan and bean is growing away but the anxiety is still there.

I wish you a happy and healthy pregnancy

Rainbowpeanut02 · 23/02/2024 15:42

@January0901 ohhhh wow, that is definitely an eventful day! It’s a good thing you was seen so quickly. How is everything progressing? I had 2 separate bleeds in the first trimester so understand to a degree your concern. Honestly I wouldn’t be too concerned about the heartbeat, I was checked at 6+2 and there was no heartbeat, came back 2 weeks later and there it was. The 2 week wait feels so long! All I can suggest is try to stay as calm and stress free as possible though I know it’s easier said than done, but try xx

@Whiterose123 My skin at the start just broke out, had bad acne on my face and my chest. Now it has calmed down a lot and is none existent but my skin is like a lizard, super dry and feels scaly. My skin is normally normal to combination, so this is extreme for me.

I understand about the tugging, been having them on and off throughout and especially the last few days. I get mine on the left and right side but I think baby is linked to my right ovary. How are you sleeping? I’m sleeping well but just finding it hard to get comfortable because of the tugging and I’m getting such bad headaches aswell. Xx

Whiterose123 · 26/02/2024 08:04

@Rainbowpeanut02 sleeping wise, I'm having really weird dreams and keep waking up in the night/really early but generally ok.

I'm getting a bit anxious again now, which i know is ridiculous as my scan was only a week and a half ago, but I'm at the stage where they say symptoms start to leave, I have more energy, no sign of a bump and I'm questioning if everything is still continuing to grow. Pregnancy after loss is super hard. 🌈

@January0901 I have experienced this before, where they could not find a heartbeat and then two weeks later they could. Please try to keep yourself busy, the days will feel long, but two weeks will be here in no time.

January0901 · 04/03/2024 17:02

Well just had my repeat scan 6 weeks 5 days and a good heartbeat, to say I’m relieved is an understatement I started crying in the doctors office 🙈 but very happy, they said I had a small bleed on my cervix but were not concerned as apparantly that means it’s likely an old bleed

OP posts:
Whiterose123 · 04/03/2024 21:11

@January0901 aw, it's so emotional seeing the heartbeat, thats really great news! 🌈

Did they offer you any more scans for before your 12 weeks?

January0901 · 06/03/2024 09:19

@Whiterose123 no they’ve not offered me any more scans before my 12 week one but I have had like literally a spot of blood when I wiped once this morning and once yesterday afternoon. I’m wondering if any one else has had anything similar if it could be the bleed they found on my cervix coming out? I’ve never bled any of the times I’ve been pregnant so any blood during pregnancy is new to me
