@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 @Hummusanddipdip thank you! Glad it's not just the fact we're first time parents that it's absolutely terrifying! We are going to have a think about the best way forward for us! I think it's more frustrating that whilst the health worker was lovely today it was literally like, here's a cup, she will drink from it like a cat, have a go! So we are completely in the dark!

Mummyme87 · 28/12/2023 22:57

@FirstT1meMum cup feeding is good if you can as baby needs to use their tongue. Use like the lid of a bottle or something by similar and a small amount of ebm in it. Just tilt slightly so the milk goes to their tongue and she should lap it up like a cat.

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 sometimes baby’s HR are very high if they have been active, post vaginal examination, post abdominal palpation, the fact it comes down is the good sign. Obvs I don’t know the ins and outs of what’s happened but it’s not unusual. I’m guessing they did a Dawes redman with the CTG, they may have been talking about the CTG ‘meeting the criteria’.

Salamander91 · 28/12/2023 23:10

@A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 are you well in yourself? With my last pregnancy my baby had a high hr before my c section but they said it was because I had a temp and was dehydrated so my hr was higher which made his higher.

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 28/12/2023 23:12

@Mummyme87 thanks so much. Yep it was the Dawes Redman and did eventually 'meet criteria'. Before that they were discussing me staying in overnight for monitoring, but because it came down, they said I could go home and come back tomorrow

FirstT1meMum · 28/12/2023 23:16

@Mummyme87 thank you! Might try something a little smaller then to see if that's a bit easier. The cup we've been given is huge and we just can't work out how to do it without it going into her mouth

Mummyme87 · 29/12/2023 07:45

@FirstT1meMum you can put the cup in her mouth, just under her tongue as you’re not pouring it in

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 29/12/2023 09:04

@Salamander91 thanks sorry I missed your message! I haven't been feeling too great last few days, quite tired, a bit sick, dizzy etc and thirsty. However my blood pressure was very low, 90/50, so they retook it several times til it increased and they let me go. No sugars in my urine though, I was wondering about late onset gestational diabetes.

Maybe just one of those things. I was feeling confident about this pregnancy being really low risk after my high risk previous pregnancy, and now I'm feeling so scared of something going wrong

RG9895 · 29/12/2023 14:03

Sorry for the TMI 🙈

Could this be a bit of my mucus plug?

I know they say you get a lot of discharge during pregnancy but tbh I haven't so would be random for it to be that. It's not loads but wondering if it may have plopped in the toilet and that's what was left?

Due January 2024 - Part 10!
MrsJ6921 · 29/12/2023 15:03

@RG9895 this looks like normal discharge to me. My mucus plug was very very snot/jelly like with spotting/bloody show

A1b2c3d4e5f6g7 · 29/12/2023 15:51

Mine was more like a solid jelly chunk

Vikki7 · 29/12/2023 21:47

After almost 3 days of latent labour with seriously disabling contractions and waters spontaneously going on Boxing Day, my little boy was born at home in water (against medical advice) at 23:01 on 28th Dec weighing 8lb. Everything and everyone was against us (car broke down, huge storm, midwives not available TWICE! Consultants misleading "facts") but we did it! Settling into a family of 5 and enjoying our newborn baby bubble. My little ones are besotted with each other and me and OH are overwhelmed with emotions!

Hummusanddipdip · 29/12/2023 22:16

Congratulations @Vikki7 sorry things were against you, but so pleased he's here safe and sound!

lucya66 · 29/12/2023 22:21

Congrats @Vikki7

sashastuck · 29/12/2023 22:35

@Vikki7 congratulations!!😍

Redpanda21 · 29/12/2023 22:40

Congrats @Vikki7 !

Matildahoney · 29/12/2023 23:49

Oh wow @Vikki7 I thought mine was bad, waters went at 9am boxing day, hospital saw me at 9pm 2cm dilated, gave me a sweep, went back in at 2cm contracting very regularly for hours, next assessment only 3cm at around 7am, hideous contractions all day no gas and air until around 3 or 4pm and 5cm dilated, finally allowed epidural at 5pm, absolute bliss, next assessment only 6cm at 6pm, then babies heart rate dropped so got rushed into theatre for an emergency c section!!

FirstT1meMum · 30/12/2023 00:00

Massive congratulations @Vikki7 🥰

Salamander91 · 30/12/2023 01:39

Congratulations @Vikki7

PartRadish · 30/12/2023 07:13

Congratulations @Vikki7 ❤️

Luhou · 30/12/2023 08:33

Congratulations @Vikki7 anybody else getting a bit inpatient now? Ideally, I'd like a week at home once DD and DH back at work/nursery and then I am done being pregnant and ready for arrival!

WitcheryDivine · 30/12/2023 09:19

How are you getting on @Lightningrain x

Lightningrain · 30/12/2023 10:37

@WitcheryDivine not too bad thanks. I’ve just been checking I have everything in my hospital bag.

My blood pressure is still playing up when they check at the hospital so I’m going again today for another BP profile. They said yesterday that they’re currently really busy for inductions so I’m not sure I’ll be called in tomorrow even though I’m on the list. I’m guessing urgent cases will be prioritised. They said it’s not guaranteed to be on the day you’re booked in for and you just have to wait for a phone call.

I think the uncertainty of not knowing when things are going to happen and how long it all takes is getting to me more than the thought of the birth itself! How are you doing?

WitcheryDivine · 30/12/2023 11:22

Ah I’m sorry you’re having to wait although I guess at least you’ve got time to prep. We ended up being called more or less straight in so I’ve been here 24 hours already. It’s a very weird situation to be in! Is this your first baby? It is mine

Mummyme87 · 30/12/2023 11:36

Congratulations @Vikki7 glad you’re settling in to your newborn bubble.

Cracking on with all the tasks that need done this long weekend whilst DH is off, hopefully will have done most by Tuesday then can just chill with the kids. I’m certainly not ready for this baby yet. When IOL being brought forward was mentioned yesterday, it was a very quick NO (unless life or death) I have things to do!!

Lightningrain · 30/12/2023 11:42

@WitcheryDivine have you had any form of induction yet or just waiting for a bed? I think the being stuck on a ward is going to be the hardest thing for me. I hope things progress quickly for you anyway and you’ll soon be meeting your baby.

Yes, it’s my first as well so have no idea what to expect with labour!
