Started a new thread as the last one is full.
Got my apt letter today for my scan in Jan will be the 11th should be 12w 3D.

@Oatmilk - it is tough but what else cam we do. Have no other choixe but to suffer and keep going. I reflect very very often in the ease of my last pregnancy. Naps when I wanted. Sleep in when I wanted. Just really self centered 😂 now I am lucky to put my feet up for 10mins.

I just think loooooads of women have done, are doing it. And I need to suck it up.
My Nausea is easing up a little the last couple days. So hopefully it goes soon.

We're also not allowed to bring our toddler to appointments, which sucks! Last time DH couldn't come because of COVID, so we were really looking forward to it this time!

I remember when I was little and my mum took me to all her scans. Ah, the 90s!

Busyhedgehog · 14/02/2024 14:49

We've had DS at appointments. He just waits in the waiting room. It's different because all my appointments are at my OB/GYN, I guess...and not at hospital.

Yummum19 · 14/02/2024 18:02

Had our 20 week scan today. All was okay with what they could see but I have to go back next week as they were in a difficult position so couldn’t get all the measurements. We also found out we are having a boy 💙 Good luck to those of you who have scans over the next few days!

Lisao86 · 14/02/2024 18:25

Had my 20 week scan this afternoon and despite my massive anxieties - little bump, no feeling of movement… all was good! I’m so happy, and hopefully will be able to sleep tonight after the thoughts I’ve had over the past week. 😩
We are having a little girl. 😊

wannabe123 · 15/02/2024 12:35

Had my fetal scan today checking on baby's heart and got the all clear. We don't need to go back for any further scans. Such a relief 😊

Morningcoffeeaddict · 15/02/2024 15:45

@wannabe123 thats great news! Very pleased for you that all is well with little one. I’ve got a date for mine now but not until March 7th, although I think mine is mainly to check on the placenta rather than baby

wannabe123 · 15/02/2024 19:00

@Morningcoffeeaddict Thank you. Hope all goes well for you and you can keep busy during the wait!
Feel like I can relax a bit now and have started buying things/planning things for baby's arrival. It's mainly about sorting through all of DS things 🤦🏼‍♀️ excited for our anomaly scan now on Tuesday when we will hopefully find out what we are having. Was hoping for a sneak peek today but the consultant just looked at the heart and we barely saw any other bits of baby. Husband and I both thought we maybe caught a glimpse of boy bits though!

Morningcoffeeaddict · 15/02/2024 19:46

@wannabe123 - oh that’s exciting you get to find out on Tuesday! Shame the consultant was so focused today though - early on I went for a kidney scan and the sonography let me have a little peek at baby while she was at it, I guess they can’t all be as generous though. Main thing is baby got the all clear today!

we find out a week on Tuesday what we’re having - also fairly sure it’s a boy but will be good to have it confirmed one way or the other!

wannabe123 · 15/02/2024 19:56

@Morningcoffeeaddict we were also half an hour late being seen so she was maybe having to play catch up!

Bluebonnet3 · 15/02/2024 20:11

I had my 20 week scan today, and everything looks good! My DH wants to wait to find out the gender, so I'll try to go along with him. So it's still a surprise for now!

And to help transition my 14 month old into sleeping in his cotbed, I put our mattress on the floor, put his cotbed slatted base and mattress on the floor, and took one side off his rails. He was quite excited when he realised he could crawl into and out of both beds! Eventually we are hoping to move our bed (maybe even get a new one for us) to the next room over.

MixedCouple · 16/02/2024 07:27

@CheeryBiscuit & @Oatmilktea oh wow hadn't thought of that. I live in wales and they seem very chill and alternative compared to England (midwife led unit).
It is odd as I was a trainee sonographer in OBs and they never had an issue but that was back in 2013 and that was in SW England.
If they won't write it down then will leave it. I opted for growth scans so maybe by then can arrange childcare and have DH with me.

@Lisao86 congrats on the news.

@Bluebonnet3 hope the transition goes smoothley. we had DS with us until he was weaned at 20months. Then we moved him to his own floor bed in our room. And hoping in the next 2 months to move him to his own room and give him some time to adjust before baby arrives. He was Sleeping through the night but poor guy has chronic tonsillitis aaaaand 2 of his 2 year old Molars cutting at the same time. So sleep is a nightmare recently.

@Busyhedgehog yea DS sat in the waiting room and they allowed him in at the very end with DH but I wanted DH there the entire scan (12 weeks) but the 20week scan is 45-60mins so I dont want to drag DS to wait all that time. Although he did amazing and was so week behaved. Maybe I will ask the Midwife if they can come but ask DH to arrive 30mins later?
We are at a midwife cottage hospital in the middle of nowhere lol. Surrounded by Sheep in the Welsh Valleys.

20 week scan yesterday and so relieved to say all is well ☺️ Baby was moving a lot, so they struggled for a while to see everything but finally got all the measurements they needed. Now I can relax for a bit and get excited!
Also having a surprise here too - we did with our son too and it was the best feeling when he came out!
Hope everyone else's 20 week scans go well in the next few weeks!

missmoosh · 16/02/2024 11:41

Congratulations to everyone who has had good 20 week scans!
Mine isn't until 13th March, feels an age away!

Oatmilktea · 16/02/2024 16:48

Now that I’m over the worst of my nausea (thank goodness!) I’m starting to think about buying things for baby. I have no idea where to begin!!! We are very lucky and are being gifted a pram and a next to me.

Does anyone have a list of essentials that I need to buy please? Or even a list of how many of each item of clothing in each size please?!

Feeling totally overwhelmed as I haven’t bought a thing yet!

ceruleansky · 16/02/2024 16:50

Congrats to everyone on their scans!

@missmoosh
I feel like you and I are the only ones due around the end of the month 🤣 I'm glad I have company. I'll turn 20 weeks on the 12th.

I dont have any list as such but you can get an essentials check list from mama’s & papa’s or even John Lewis. There’s quite a few to choose from when you look online! Glad the nausea has eased off

wannabe123 · 16/02/2024 17:30

@Oatmilktea I'd say just buy a pack or two vests and sleep suits in newborn and 0-1 months. You'll be surprised by how many people are wanting to give you stuff that they want rid of or buy you as presents. My little boy had second hand/present bought clothes for at least the first 6 months of his life! Supermarket baby clothes are brilliant and if you really get desperate you can send someone out to get some.

missmoosh · 16/02/2024 19:01

@ceruleansky yeah I think we are haha! It's funny how we can all be due the same month but at such different stages of our pregnancy!
I will be 20 weeks on 9th March, so just a few days ahead of you!

Samszie · 16/02/2024 19:53

Hello, just looking for some personal experiences/opinions. I'm currently 18w and about 30min ago tripped on my dog's toy going up the stairs and fell down on my arms, almost in a plank position. I've sent my midwife a message, but any idea if a fall like this is a risk?

Feeling a little bit sore in my lower belly and really hyper fixating on that. Thank you!

Hi @Samszie hope you're ok must have been a shock 😢 I would be ringing triage and explain. They can advise if they would like to check you over then? Xxx

AnonymousXXIX · 16/02/2024 21:19

@Samszie I'd text my midwife or call triage and see if they'd please give me a checkup asap! Annoying it's the weekend, so if otherwise ok then maybe Monday? But I'd try my best to convince someone to promise me some peace of mind!

HDready · 16/02/2024 21:20

If you are concerned, I wouldn’t wait for a reply from the midwife. I would contact triage and speak to someone

Samszie · 17/02/2024 00:27

@hopingfor23 @AnonymousXXIX @HDready
Thank you! I ended up going to the hospital (I'm in the US and the midwifery was still open), and they used the Doppler to check on the baby's heartbeat - a healthy 155bpm. It seems all is good with the baby boy, just need to call back if any bleeding, back pain or cramps/pain happens.
