Started a new thread as the last one is full.
Got my apt letter today for my scan in Jan will be the 11th should be 12w 3D.

@Oatmilk - it is tough but what else cam we do. Have no other choixe but to suffer and keep going. I reflect very very often in the ease of my last pregnancy. Naps when I wanted. Sleep in when I wanted. Just really self centered 😂 now I am lucky to put my feet up for 10mins.

I just think loooooads of women have done, are doing it. And I need to suck it up.
My Nausea is easing up a little the last couple days. So hopefully it goes soon.

@Morningcoffeeaddict
I see, that's something you really can't control. It's unfortunate. But I pray you don't have to go through any of that this time and hopefully the weekly scans will help. Did you have the scans last time?

Today's symptom: back pains. Such a bad catch on my back every time I try to bend forward. I'm really losing mobility. I need to get back into yoga as soon as I'm cleared for it. I wish my doctor would allow it. Honestly my cervix length is 31mm. Is that even that short? I looked online and it said short was anything 25mm and below. I hate that I can't move my body. :/ I almost want to go against my doctors advise and do mild yoga and walking. I'm just 15 weeks so it's a long way to go.

bringmearainbow · 08/02/2024 10:51

@Savvy21 I keep thinking I'm feeling bomps occasionally but I'm really not sure. I have another anterior placenta so not really expecting to feel much for a few more weeks yet 😢

AnonymousXXIX · 08/02/2024 10:58

Re stuff: we already have everything from baby 1, so I am not planning on buying anything at all. Slightly worried I am forgetting something, but honestly can't think of anything. Oh I can't tell you the absolute joy of realising we can re-use all our cloth nappies, it is so satisfying haha.

Re movement: anterior placenta here too but I swear I started feeling things around 14-15 weeks. This week I didn't feel anything at all for 2 days. But then it came back yesterday. I am sure in 2 months I will wish baby would stop moving, but right now it worries me so much when they don't!!

ExpectantEs · 08/02/2024 11:21

I went to John Lewis a few weeks back just to have a look at the baby section. I saw £1.5k for a pram and immediately left lol

Not even sure when I'm going to make the bigger purchases but it's more fun looking at clothes and nursery decor for me at the moment.

I've only bought the baby a pack of socks so far

CB2805 · 08/02/2024 11:24

@ceruleansky 31mm it’s not short at all?!? It’s within the normal range of 30mm-40mm.
did your doctor advised against exercising?
I just had CL checked and it’s 32mm and my consultant is more than happy with it at the moment, was not advised to stop doing anything

CB2805 · 08/02/2024 11:27

@ExpectantEs i was having a look for prams last night as well as heard there massive delays etc and when I saw the prices I literally just closed all my browser windows🤣
that was my first shock and realization of what expenses are coming😅

ExpectantEs · 08/02/2024 11:58

@CB2805 Honestly, I was a bit shocked 😂

It's going to be an expensive next 5 months! Knowing me, I'm going to end up doing it all at once and not spacing out the expenses 🙃

If anyone knows any bargains/suggestions for the bigger purchases, let me know please lol

ceruleansky · 08/02/2024 12:06

@CB2805
I know right? But I'm worried because she said it's a risk since it can get shorter as the baby gets heavier. No exercise, no sex, not even walking.

Baby and maternity things are unreasonably expensive. I'm just going to borrow whatever I can from my friends and buy the rest. I think what I really want is a baby bed that attaches to my bed, you can just unzip the side and reach baby. I don't want to get a crib..

Savvy21 · 08/02/2024 12:17

@bringmearainbow ah that's annoying. I have no idea where my placenta is - just want to feel regular movement so I can be somewhat reassured but then, when it stops, it's another thing to worry about.
@ExpectantEs I think I found some good deals at Kiddi Kingdom but we got our pram from a baby show. It was nice to wander round and see what we liked. Although they do go for the hard sale!

bringmearainbow · 08/02/2024 12:44

@Savvy21 I know they don't like it but I've listened to the HB on the Doppler every night it reassures me until I feel some regular movement. I think they say it should be regular after 24 weeks 🤔 with DS I didn't feel anything until 23 weeks 🙄

If there's a pram you like then fb marketplace can be a good place to look. I would def recommend going to a baby shop and testing some out first though. I have kept everything from first baby am desperate to buy something but really just don't need anything 😂 my son only stayed in his next to me crib for 4.5 months then he was in a big crib he outgrew the next to me pretty quickly. A lot of the big shops do baby events with discounted items

User491 · 08/02/2024 12:46

@CB2805 haha I've literally got a couple of things on a list but I will start properly soon 😂

The pram we are going for is the cybex gazelle.. it was a bit more spacious than the other tandem ones, and we've picked the car seats that go straight on the frame, and the car seat base twists also.
We aren't getting the carry cots as they are only used for 6 months; and the seats on this one are fine from birth, so going with 2 of the seats, with the footmuffs. The car seats also lie back and the babies are fine in them for up to 2 hours.
I know the lady in the shop and she's given us 10% discount which is great.
She also recommended avoiding the carry cots as they are in them a short time, and it's summer so hopefully some decent weather and when buying 2 it's a big outlay.
It's £2k without the carry cots 🙈😬
Crazy money!!

I've also seen the chicco hug 4 in 1, my MIL sent me the link ha, and going to buy 2 of these for downstairs, they are a crib, then tilt for a seat and convert into a high char also, so seem great for plenty of use. We have 2 dogs so I like the fact they are high up even if used as a chair, and on wheels so can be moved round the house. They are only £140 each so I thought they were reasonable.

Somethings I'll check on Facebook marketplace too, harder when needing matching things for 2 tho ha!

@ceruleansky gosh that's must be awful for you, especially when you feel a bit of exercise/yoga is what you need.. can you maybe ask for a second opinion?
I keep getting aches and pains occasionally, but going to the gym 4 times a week, and I honestly think it's really helping me, and it's my own time for myself which I enjoy.
I really hope you can get the clearance for your own sanity bless you ❤️

User491 · 08/02/2024 12:50

Oh forgot to say I had 16 week midwife appointment today and we got to hear the heartbeats.. so lovely 🥰
She found them straight away. And she was laughing about how active they both were. Sounds lovely and cute now, I'm gonna be hating that when they are jumping on my bladder later on 😂

ceruleansky · 08/02/2024 13:43

@User491
So glad your scan went well! 💗😊
I thought I'd just ride out the 4th month, i plan to start walking this weekend and then start yoga. Don't know how you make it to the gym! Perhaps you were a regular before pregnancy? I get light headed just by standing in the shower too long. 😅

AnonymousXXIX · 08/02/2024 13:45

We got our pram off FB marketplace! Less than 200 quid for a good brand one (I researched brands I liked and filtered FB for those specifically). It had been used less than a year, bassinet and car seat included as well as rain-cover etc! We have used it so hard the last 2 years, with several airlines really abusing it, so it's definitely not shiny any more... but I reckon it will survive another baby.

Amberellaella · 08/02/2024 13:45

Buying things is an absolute minefield because what you think you’ll use you won’t, and what you don’t think you need you’ll find indispensable 😂. Borrowing until you figure it all out is much the best thing to do if you can.

E.g. @User491 we were skeptical about getting the bassinet bit for our pram as well, but it turned out to be really useful because DD used it for daytime naps in the house as well as out and about and as a travel ‘cot’ for the first five months or so when we went away. I think maybe you have to check they’re certified for night time sleep.

fwiw I would recommend the sidecar crib option (we have a snuzpod). I used to lay DD in it ‘upside down’ (i.e. with her feet by my head and her face by my tummy) so that all I had to do to check on her was open my eyes and I could see her face without turning my head. Very reassuring in the anxious newborn days. They’re also v easy to come by second hand.

ExpectantEs · 08/02/2024 13:58

Grateful for the experienced mums in this chat - the amount of googling I've just done to understand some of the words you've all said!

FB marketplace seems like a good idea, will try and research what I want - and then look for them second hand.
If I can get a £2k pram for £200 in good condition, I would be very happy.

missmoosh · 08/02/2024 14:17

Just going to jump in, don't forget places like John Lewis if you book a nursery appointment, you get discount on their prices! We have one booked in for April, and will get pram and a few other bits from them (leaning towards the nuna mixx bundle atm)

Morningcoffeeaddict · 08/02/2024 15:01

@AnonymousXXIX - airlines are so awful with buggies aren’t they! The number we’ve seen come down the conveyor basically snapped in half!

We’ve got basically everything from DS still so no need for shopping. We were lucky that we got a lot of hand me downs from friends and also our parents both bought a big ticket item (snuzpod which I loved too and the car seat), plus my husband has an owner of a nursery furniture company as a client so we got the cot etc from them really cheaply.

We got an out n about buggy which are really good value - they’re not particularly pretty too look at but we live in the country so wanted something that would handle sheep fields and being parked in a stable so it was perfect for us. Marketplace is a good shout too and there are services where you can send a secondhand buggy off for a proper clean etc.

Outliers · 08/02/2024 15:48

16+3.

Ashamed to say not knowing sex is starting to kill me. I think I'll find out with a private scan in a couple days. Sigh.

Of course - main thing is that child is healthy, just annoyed at myself for being capable of feeling gender disappointment.

justanotherlaura · 08/02/2024 16:02

@Outliers we had a little gender disappointment when we found out we were having another boy. This is definitely our last so it's the finality of knowing we'll never have a daughter. I think we'd feel the same if we'd had 2 girls. I know once he's here though we'll get on with it and probably not think of it again

We were going to keep the sex secret but I can't deal with the 'maybe this one will be a girl' comments when I know for sure it's not so I think we'll tell people it's a boy after the 20 week scan

Outliers · 08/02/2024 16:28

@justanotherlaura we are in exact opposite position. Have a girl, and hoping for a boy. I don't think we intend to say anything until after 20week scan either, so at least we can have a little time to digest.

I also don't know if I want anymore which adds a bit of pressure. My sympathies to you!

MixedCouple · 08/02/2024 17:11

Afternoon ladies.

Is anyone expwrincing boob tenderness in the 2nd trimester? Last 2 days only in one side in a specific spot it is very temder almost similar to the early newborn nursing. I never had this last time.

@missmoosh we have the Joie 2018 DLX in comcreate. But it was on offer in Birmingham pram shop. We got the travel system plus 0-4 car seat, infant seat, carey cot and the iBase for £500 I really love it and so easy to use and easy to collapse and put into my tiny car.
We opted for it as it had larger back wheels and suspension we do a lot of walking and live rural.
