Started a new thread as the last one is full.
Got my apt letter today for my scan in Jan will be the 11th should be 12w 3D.

@Oatmilk - it is tough but what else cam we do. Have no other choixe but to suffer and keep going. I reflect very very often in the ease of my last pregnancy. Naps when I wanted. Sleep in when I wanted. Just really self centered 😂 now I am lucky to put my feet up for 10mins.

I just think loooooads of women have done, are doing it. And I need to suck it up.
My Nausea is easing up a little the last couple days. So hopefully it goes soon.

@ExpectantEs - also relate here. Like @wannabe123 said it’s not quite as bad the second time round but I caught sight of myself in the mirror at the gym this week and thought I looked enormous (and that’s everywhere not just my belly).

Agree that maternity clothes help. Belly definitely looks more like a bump in my maternity jeans which makes me feel a lot better about it!

BunBun221 · 13/01/2024 15:27

@ExpectantEs I have the opposite problem in that I've lost over a stone since getting pregnant (i have a high bmi) and I'm super concerned that I still seem to be losing weight into my 14th week even though the morning sickness seems to be leveling off! I'm slightly reassured that I lost weight with my first too but.im still worrying!

Busyhedgehog · 13/01/2024 15:32

I've already got a little belly and it's certainly more obvious than last time. However, went for my last check up and I have lost weight over Christmas. My doctor was a little concerned but I am eating...and I'm pretty sure I'll gain way more again. I've been ill for the past three weeks and haven't had much of an appetite. I've also not eaten at school for weeks (we get a proper cooked lunch, with salad bar and dessert...no Jamie Oliver influences here). The maternity clothes do help.

ChildOfTheMoon · 13/01/2024 15:37

Have any of you ladies measured behind at your 12 week scan? I'm so worried as I'm measuring 5 days behind. Last time at my 10 week scan I only measured 1 day behind. I had ivf so gestation age is exact

AnonymousXXIX · 13/01/2024 15:44

@ChildOfTheMoon I am not a medical dr, but I would not worry too much. It's literally just a measurement of how big the baby is right now, just like any 3 year old or 6 year old or 12 year old; it's never going to be the exact same measurement for every person ever at a given point in time.

I measured 2 days ahead at my scan (not IVF but also pretty fairly set on the dates of ovulation as well as implantation) and they did not even bother to adjust my due date, they said it can just differ a few days sometimes.

I also know someone who gave birth in Hong Kong who was consistently told she was having a huge baby... and it turns out it was only big by Hong Kong standard, not for the average white Western family that she was from.

BananaHammock23 · 13/01/2024 16:26

@ExpectantEs I could've written your post myself! I'm 15 weeks and I'm really struggling this time round. I seem to have got bigger quicker than I did with my first but it's not carrying as well because I have leftover flab from my last baby. I feel like I look like I've had too much cheese at Christmas 🫠

I wish I had some wisdom or advice, it's hard watching your body change when it's completely out of your control! If it's any consolation, I enjoyed pregnancy much more when my bump was bigger - from about 25 weeks onwards. That's when it was clear I was pregnant and not just fat!

ceruleansky · 13/01/2024 17:13

@ExpectantEs
We've spoken about this but I do truly resonate with what you feel. Honestly, theres no advise, in the first trimester you can't help but eat what your body allows. I can't think of veggies without getting sick. So I'm snacking. It happens.
And there's so much bloating. I'm almost done with my first trimester and I don't have the slightest sign of a real bump, it's just bloat. So you can't really imagine it's all fat and it will go away.
We all plan to be healthy and stuff but honestly just surviving is hard sometimes so.. just hope for a healthy baby and let your body do its thing..

My nausea turned into you-know-what for the first time today and I'm just done with food forever. 🤢

CMRC17 · 13/01/2024 18:14

@ExpectantEs i definitely can sympathise, although I try not to let it affect me I do find myself subconsciously worrying about being bigger or fatter. I’ve been more or less the same weight for quite a few years so I think it’s just the change in actually being bigger this year and knowing I’m only going to get bigger and more waddly as time goes on!
im no expert as this is my first baby but something I’ve found to help me mentally is doing 3 20 minute workouts a week. It doesn’t have to be anything huge, even just a bit of yoga or using small dumbbells for arms etc. But as long as you are moving a small bit (if you feel up to it) this can help to shift the bad body image feelings! Or if you don’t feel great even going out for a small walk each day. I think as long as you are a healthy weight try not to worry :)
also I reckon once we get further down the line of pregnancy we’ll have proper bumps and feel more ‘pregnant’ rather than just feeling like we’ve got a bloated/chubby belly like I often feel now 😂

CMRC17 · 13/01/2024 18:17

I wondered if anyone has experiences doing Bump & Baby club antenatal classes in previous pregnancies, or has signed up to the class for this pregnancy? Pretty sure I’m going to book on but just wondered if anyone had any first hand experience ! Or alternatively, and other antenatal classes they would recommend. I’d like something social and informative but not too overwhelming or pushy with information. I’m north east based !

ExpectantEs · 13/01/2024 22:19

Thanks everyone. I'm going to try and exercise more. I was a 4x week weight trainer in the gym before I got pregnant. I really thought I would be like those women on Social media that are pregnant and lifting weights. It's not because I'm tired/fatigued - I just can't be bothered lol

It's just so dark & cold after work and I just want to stay at home. Might try and go next week. Hope you're all having a good weekend

TWellsWellsy · 14/01/2024 09:17

@CMRC17 ...I was looking last night and was so overwhelmed there are so many different groups to choose from (I'm SE)! No experience of them yet but the vibe from Bump & Baby did look quite good (also a couple of local ones I saw). My midwife mentioned that she'll give me a few ideas at my 16 week appt (which is at 19 weeks!), but conscious classes are booking up! Might check with the ladies at my yoga class and feedback 😊.

I also had the worst day yesterday...I broke down twice and was a miserable cow all day! 14+3 today and hoping I get out on the right side of the bed. Finally, felt like the financial realisation of prepping for a baby (we have a lot to do to our house!) hit me, but going to be a positive day 🤞. Hope everyone else is feeling good!

glasshalffull0 · 14/01/2024 12:01

@CMRC17 Ask your midwife before you pay for anything, I'm due 30th June and had my 16 week midwife appointment this week and she booked me on to a few free classes that our NHS runs. I've also signed up to the Baby Academy free classes too.

I've opted against NCT or any paid classes as most reviews I've heard are that they are better for making friends rather than information- most information is available via the internet or books now anyway! Instead I've booked on to some pregnancy yoga classes which I think will help me more throughout the pregnancy and help to prepare for labour - and hopefully I'll make some mum friends that way!

Busyhedgehog · 14/01/2024 17:31

I'll probably stick with the aqua class and then have a look at the Pre-Kanga training (https://www.netmums.com/local/l/kangatraining) on offer.
I only went to aqua and the Daisy Birthing on a Saturday last time and that was enough. I'd rather have classes I can do while DS is at school this time, though, which it seems a little harder to find anything for.

trebuvie · 14/01/2024 20:38

I just booked onto my local Bump & Baby class! The one for the month before had already sold out which freaked me out, haha. Everyone is so organised. We knew we definitely wanted to do some kind of antenatal classes, both as a bit of reassurance for baby first aid etc which we're so nervous about, and also for the friends aspect as we each only know 1 couple with a baby and neither couple is local - our friends are mostly single London professionals!

12wk scan tomorrow. Also having NIPT bloods taken (due to other half's paranoia). Feeling a bit nervous although all has gone well so far. Touch wood!

ceruleansky · 15/01/2024 03:41

@trebuvie
Let us know how your scan goes! Good luck!!

I've been having the weirdest symptom(?) So I have waves of nausea that starts from when I wake up until I go to bed. When I wake up, I eat something to curb the nausea, it seems like it has gone down and then it turns worse after I eat (anything, even fruits/dates). So then I'm ready to puke, I rush to the bathroom and just waiting for it to come out and then suddenly I get the worst stomach cramps and I am ready to poop instead??
This has happened thrice a day, every day, for the last 2 weeks and I'm so confused. I'm almost 100%sure I'm about to vomit, it's at my throat, then I end up having to use the bathroom instead. Is anyone else experiencing this? I'm sorry if it's tmi.

Also, after I use the bathroom, it subsides for about an hour before the cycle repeats again.

trebuvie · 15/01/2024 16:31

Scan went well! I'm back to being a July mum. First scan at ~7wks put me at 1 Aug but now I'm back in late July :)

missmoosh · 15/01/2024 18:00

@trebuvie congratulations! Mine is on Wednesday and I'm so nervous! Think I'm one of the last ones to have the scan? 😂

Nocoffeenotalkie · 15/01/2024 19:45

13 weeks today and getting shooting pains in my pubic area. This is new. Had cramps like period cramps before but this is brand new and not very comfortable.

Anyone else experiencing this?

wannabe123 · 15/01/2024 19:50

@Nocoffeenotalkie have a look at round ligament pain - it might be that 😊

BunBun221 · 15/01/2024 20:18

@Nocoffeenotalkie sounds like it's lightening crotch! I had this with my first and I've had this in the last few weeks too!

Nocoffeenotalkie · 15/01/2024 20:21

I will try a warm bath. Thank you

Macccc · 15/01/2024 20:32

@missmoosh I have mine Wednesday too, feels like it’s taken forever to come round😂 super nervous too! Can’t wait to have it and (hopefully if alls well) be able to share the news with everyone! My brother and his partner had a baby on Friday and I’m kinda worried they’re going to think I’m raining on their parade a bit if I announce so soon after tho🙈

Morningcoffeeaddict · 15/01/2024 20:38

@trebuvie - so glad your scan went well!

@missmoosh @Macccc - I’ve got mine Thursday so just after the two of you, feels like this week will be the longest ever! @Macccc I’m sure your brother and his partner will be thrilled for you! My sister in law is fuming her youngest won’t be the baby of the family any more but I think normal people are just happy for the family to be growing!

Macccc · 15/01/2024 21:16

@Morningcoffeeaddict ah exciting!! Yeah I’m sure they will be, I’m just an over thinker haha! Omg really, that’s ridiculous! Watch her have another after you then😂 some people are crazy!

Morningcoffeeaddict · 15/01/2024 21:21

@Macccc yeah I know what you mean - my husband’s best friend and partner just had a baby and he’s worrying about the best time to say “surprise we’ve got one on the way too” without feeling like stealing their thunder. I think we’ll give it a week or so but I’m sure they’ll be thrilled too.

haha she’s a bit crazy. She’s not spoken to us since we told them but her mum told me she’s sulking- wouldn’t surprise me if you’re right and she’ll have another on the way before long! I’ll laugh if she does!
