@RG84 I think I’ll be like you and more nervous this time as I was so tired and out of it on painkillers and worried about the baby with my emergency section that I never really dwelt much on going in for a major operation. Glad it went well and you’re recovering.

GingerJanee · 12/12/2023 16:32

@Charlielechat I say hoping at the minute but ask me in an hour and I’m terrified and hoping he/she doesn't arrive so I can get to the 20th 😂

I’ve never felt such a whirlwind of emotions about anything in my life I’m normally very level headed but I feel like I don’t know my own mind at all at the moment! I’m just very excited for baby to be here safe and sound and overthinking how baby may have to get here.

RG84 · 12/12/2023 17:03

@ThomasinaLivesHere Try not to be nervous and 100% easier said than done. I say that as it wasn't as bad as I thought. Sometimes we work ourselves up to something that's not there. And remember you are in safe hands and the most safestest place. Enjoy the moment and soak it all in as even with an elective, things move quickly as all staff in theatre have a part to play and all just get on with it. Take it all in and enjoy it :)

Good luck to everyone with upcoming births, enjoy it, the moment goes so fast. I miss my pregnancy already lol

afternoontea86 · 12/12/2023 21:11

Hi everyone! Carried on feeling crampy all day and the lower back pain has been horrible. I feel like the pain has really ramped up although still irregular and I’ve told DH I think this baby is coming tomorrow!!!

Also felt so emotional this afternoon about another baby in the family. I have a 16yo step son who’s mother sadly passed when he was 1 1/2 and a new addition to the family was hard on him with our first child and I just felt guilty even though I know he is so happy and is so excited to have a little sister. He’s away at school and he sends me messages everyday to check up on me so I know he’s absolutely fine but being pregnant really makes you emotional!

Nclktnntt · 13/12/2023 07:11

Congratulations to all the new babies of the group and o hope you're all recovering well.

We went out yesterday to do some light Christmas shopping and have a date night before baby arrives (only 2 weeks left till due date now) - well my hips are not happy, we were running a little late for the train so had to walk fast/jog walk, was fine at the time but obv my hips didn't like that plus the walking that followed.

Really hoping my hips reset by tomorrow so I can do my final 3 days in work, I stand a lot so it'll be fun if they haven't 😢

Last midwife apt was with a new midwife as mine was on holiday and she asked if I'd been talked to about sweeps yet, I had ent so she gave me an online leaflet all about inductions and sweeps to read. I'm not sure how I feel about sweeps before the due date and inductions post due date, I'm really hoping baby just decides to come so I don't have to worry about it lol.

Hope everyone is doing ok. Can’t be many babies left to be born?

my little girl is 7 days old today & baby blues kicked in on day 5. I’m feeling anxious & dreading the night time once it starts going dark around 4pm.

I think I need fresh air & to get out!

Nclktnntt · 13/12/2023 16:01

Oh @VillageFete I'm sorry to hear that, is it because of the 'witching hour' as it's called? although it seems to be from 5-8:30 at it's worst I've heard?

Have you managed to get out about yet during the day? One of my goals will be to get out at least once (easier said than done I know). Fresh air is supposed to be amazing for both you and baby.

on our antinatal class she explained that if a baby has colic, it seems to be worse around this time as this is when the house become busy with people coming to visit, home from work, kids back from school, food being cooked and just generally active and can causes stress/tension in baby which is then in turn why they believe this time to be the hardest in the day anyway and they have linked this to be a cause of colic although not proven. So she recommended keeping the evening as calm as possible, reduce visits and stay as calm as you can yourself so it doesn't transfer over - so if you're not up for visitors, tell them, and don't feel guilty about it.

I finished work today so all feeling very real! Very glad to be finished and looking forward to relaxing before baby arrives.

Still hoping for pre-Xmas but realistically with a 30 December due date could be a good while…

Noname112 · 13/12/2023 17:31

I’m 40&3 today had another sweep and still 2-3 cm dilated but cervix thinned a lot been quite crampy since. I’m mega impatient and not coping well with being overdue. My first my waters went 39&5 and he was here on his due date and I expected this one to be earlier. I’m not too uncomfy but definitely bored of waiting. Hope anyone else who’s overdue is coping better than me with it.

ThomasinaLivesHere · 13/12/2023 17:55

Hope your babies come soon @afternoontea86 and @Noname112 and that you’re doing ok.

@VillageFete Have you been able to go walks before it gets dark? I imagine it is more difficult than other times of the year but will be good to do.

It’s one week until my birthday and two weeks until my c-section. My family has so many birthdays In December.

gurlwhaat · 13/12/2023 19:07

@ThomasinaLivesHere we must have the same c section date, mine is 27th! Though I’ll be 39+5 which is slightly annoying as it feels a bit late. Just hoping and praying the baby doesn’t arrive on Christmas Day! Feels quite surreal to know I’ll have a baby this time in 2 weeks

Beans1982 · 13/12/2023 19:37

@VillageFete sorry to hear the baby blues have kicked in, hope you'll feel better soon!
@Noname112 fingers crossed your little one makes an appearance soon!

Another 2 and a bit weeks of waiting for me until my EDD (29th Dec), getting a bit tired of carrying a big belly now but at the same time feel like I'm going to miss having it and talking to my belly lol.

Had my 38 week midwife appt earlier today - all good, and have a growth scan on Friday as part of my second catch up with the consultant.
No real signs of labour coming anytime soon, even though baby is low down at 2/5 and getting very mild cramps once a day.

ThomasinaLivesHere · 13/12/2023 19:51

@gurlwhaat Snap! I’ll also be 39+5. I thought it’d be earlier from what I’d been reading but I guess with Christmas holidays it’s harder to fit appointments in. I suppose it’s also good to be as close to due date as possible but I’ll also be a bit paranoid on Christmas Day in case there are any signs.

hotpotlover · 14/12/2023 04:17

Due date is tomorrow and baby still isn't here yet hehe. I feel really uncomfortable though and I feel pressure on my cervix and buttocks. Also have occasional backpain.

Noname112 · 14/12/2023 05:30

So after my message yesterday I started with some contractions around 11pm. They were quite sore and regular as soon as they started so took some paracetamol after 15 mins. Timed them for an hour they were every 5 mins but lasting 1 min 30 mainly. Woke husband up at midnight to help me put tens machine on and called triage who advised I was seen. Diverted to another hospital though as normal hospital wasn’t taking admissions. Phoned my parents who are about 30 mins away to come look after toddler. They got to mine at 12.55am. We got to the hospital at 1.15am. We were trying to find the way in as never been before. Got into triage at 1.20am. Checked and was 7 cm dilated. Had a few puffs of gas and air while I was checked and taken straight to labour ward. Basically started having baby in the corridor on the way there. Baby boy born at 1.44am with no pain relief. Absolute whirlwind. Basically 3 hours of labour start to finish. I’m now sitting in a very noisy and very warm ward. Hoping I’ll get out fairly quickly today. Feeling a bit weird didn’t know what I was having but kinda thought it was a girl. The whole thing was so quick I’m still mildly shocked I’ve got another boy. We didn’t even look for almost 5 minutes. He’s been breastfeeding well and I’m looking forward to his big brother meeting him soon.

Flowersandfloral · 14/12/2023 05:41

@Noname112 wow!! What an incredible story. Massive congratulations on your little boy, so glad you are both doing well. You are an absolute trooper!

Nclktnntt · 14/12/2023 07:39

Congratulations @Noname112 on the birth of your little boy. I hope you're both home soon, it doesn't sound fun on that ward. It's a shame you got redirected, I'm sure that added an unneeded stress.

Congratulations @Noname112 on the birth of your baby boy glad you’re both doing well!

I’m officially 40 weeks today! Thought last night I was taking a bug my nausea was so bad I kept wakening with the urge to throw up but couldn’t - has anybody else experienced this?

99SR · 14/12/2023 13:01

Congrats to everyone who’s had their babies! Im 40 hours into the induction process, what a slog! took myself out a big walk around the hospital grounds hoping gravity will do its thing! Nervous for the hormone drip. Planning on telling them I want the epidural before the drip is even administered!

TulipVictory · 14/12/2023 15:36

Had my baby last week, she's beautiful 😍 labour was fairly quick in the end. Had some issues with retained placenta and blood loss though. All good now. Nice to be home having baby cuddles.

Good luck to all those waiting for their beautiful babies 👶

ThomasinaLivesHere · 14/12/2023 16:48

Congratulations @Noname112 and @TulipVictory, good to hear you had quick labours. Hope you’re all doing well.

afternoontea86 · 14/12/2023 17:45

Hi everyone! Baby girl arrived safely at 12.01AM this morning, only just on her due date!
Birth story for anyone interested:
Contractions started becoming regular after around 9AM and they were about 5mins apart. Arrived at hospital at about 10.50AM and contractions were SO intense and when checked in I was only 4cm. Last two babies were with an epidural and I hated being stuck on my back so I was trying to go unmedicated this time round. This part was so tough as I wanted the epidural but knew I'd regret it once I got to the pushing stage. At around 6PM I was 6cm so felt like I'd got nowhere, but contractions were 3mins apart. Contractions carried on getting stronger and I really struggled, it was so intense. Finally at around 11PM I was 10cm and by this point I was exhausted. My contractions got slower but I thought pushing was good as it gave me something to focus on. I pushed for about an hour which was absolutely exhausting and I just wanted her out. I actually ended up on my back afterall as I was so tired that I couldn't support myself on hands and knees. Looking back if I had spent less time screaming she probably would have been out faster! After my placenta just would not deliver. Tried so many different things but nothing worked so I had to go to theatre. They did a vaginal exam to find out where it was which was quite painful and then I was given an epidural and the doctor basically put his full hand inside me and pulled this placenta out.

Was very scary but I'm all fine now and just annoyed I didn't get the epidural in the end! Baby girl is so beautiful and healthy which is the main thing. She spent some time in the nursery this afternoon so me and DH were able to have a rest. DH is on the way to bring 2 of her older brothers to meet her now and we're just having some cuddles. Her eldest brother is coming home from school tomorrow so we can't wait for him to meet her as well.

Thamantha · 14/12/2023 23:52

Congratulations to @Noname112 , @TulipVictory and @afternoontea86 . Thank you for sharing your birthday stories.

I am 39+4 today, had a growth scan showing thankfully that baby is fine and a good weight at just under 50th percentile. I have had irregular back pain and sense of pressure in my pelvis that I am hoping is a sign that this baby will be with us soon. Was out at my works Xmas party last night and I think I made others nervous by being so close to my date.

SMG1992 · 15/12/2023 04:06

congrats on all the new babies
our baby boy was delivered by c-section yesterday at 11.13
it was a really calm and professional experience
feeling sore now and trying to settle little one after a night feed

Thamantha · 15/12/2023 07:13

Congratulations @SMG1992 and good luck with feeding.
