Yes cruising everywhere and starting to try and pass between furniture. Also have a couple of seconds standing without holding on. Eldest walked the day before he turned 10 months was hoping this baby would take a bit longer but starting to doubt that.

Yes my little girl keeps letting go, gives me mini heart attacks each time, wobbles n then grabs hold again 😥 😮‍💨 xx

Nclktnntt · 24/09/2024 16:51

My little guys only started cruising today properly, very slow and unsure buuuuut he is convinced he can stand by himself so keeps letting go 🤦🏼‍♀️ he was braver earlier and tried cruising around from one piece of furniture to the next.

I was 9 months when I started walking, not sure if that has anything to do with anything though lol.

aww bless, if they keep going like they are i think 9 months walking is achievable, your little boy is same age as my little girl isn’t he? We missed our December due date, ended up with January babies 😂 xx

Nclktnntt · 26/09/2024 12:55

@Avie29 yea, 5th Jan he was. Hows your Little ones skin now? Has it all cleared up?

Since transitioning to his new milk (trying a 5:3 (new:old) ratio today) his skin has started to fully clear up. It was sooooo much better with the creams but the minute we stopped using the cream as much, it would start coming back. Sometimes inexplicably worse than others days but as bad as it was to start with. I'm hoping his skin will fully clear up 🤞although it could be he has dry skin and that's not one of his symptoms 🤷‍♀️ the difference is amazing though already.

Sorry to hear about all the little ones with allergies, so far we seem to be ok but not gone through all the allergies yet... Hope the new milk continues to improve things for your LO @Nclktnntt.

My LO turns 9 months old tomorrow - where has the time gone?!? He's also crawling (at speed) pulling up to stand, cruising and a few times he's braved letting go of one hand whilst standing. He's also just got his first tooth cutting through.
My current challenges are coping with the constant feeding - I feel like all I do is feed milk or solids - and the other thing, he's started to refuse sleep - waking up earlier in the mornings (gone from waking around 7am to 5.30/6am), sometimes going for over 4 hours (even 5.5 hours this evening) being awake.

I don't know if it's because he's teething or if there's another regression 🤔Anyone else experienced this or similar? x

Nclktnntt · 27/09/2024 13:45

@Beans1982 there is an 8-10 month regression (I had to google it a couple week back 😂)... doesn't last that long it just happens at some point between 8-10 month of age. My LO is transitioning to 2 naps a day and was fighting the nap and then only sleeping for 30-40 mins and going 4-5 hours between, like yours by the sounds of it. He's just this week started to have 90 minute naps again but the 5:30,6am wake ups have remained. I normally get him back to sleep if it's before 6 though, but not always. Sounds like your LO has a lot going on that he's learning and exploring, so I'd think it's a regression, but teeth will mess with their sleep too. I hope it's a short lived phase for you!

I also went through a phase of feeling just like that. Still do a little, it's relentless! but I o feel like I've found a slight balance at least- although I have spent all day today in the kitchen today so let's ignore that 😂. Does your LO still have a bottle first thing or have you started with a breakfast? I found starting with breakfast helped a lot. Mine also dropped to 3 bottles. How many is yours having? I've found if I eat with him I feel like I have a bit more time in between feedings too, do you manage to do that at all? These are the small changes I made that I found made me feel less rushed and less like I was moving from one feed to the next with a nappy change in between.

Avie29 · 27/09/2024 14:53

Yep my lg fights any sleep whatsoever lol basically at the moment is 2 naps a day whenever she gives in and sleeps 😂 generally she naps once in the morning for hour and then in the afternoon for hour, night times she is getting up every 2 hours ish longest stint she does is between 4:30/5 and 7:30/8 and i have to be up at 6 for school runs 😂 xx

Beans1982 · 30/09/2024 22:16

Ah, thanks for your replies @Nclktnntt @Avie29 glad it's not just me experiencing this!
@Nclktnntt Yeah, I also think it's a combo of teething and learning new things - he's very excited to be crawling around and copying gestures and sounds.
Also think his top teeth aren't far off coming through as his gum looks a bit more swollen.
I was giving him a bottle first, but recently I've started giving him breakfast (porridge usually) with about 60ml of formula mixed in and then giving him a bottle which works well so far. Ah yes, I'll try to eat my meals with him whenever possible. He's still taking x4 bottles (240ml) and will usually drink on average 800ml in a day, plus three solid meals - so after his second nap (usually around 2.30/3pm) I give him his third bottle, then his tea and his final bottle before bed. A couple of times he's vomitted after his 4th bottle - maybe I'm overfeeding??

Oh @Avie29 I feel for you - being awake every 2 hours is no joke! and even worse if you have to be up early :( I hope your LO's sleep settles soon
xx

Nclktnntt · 01/10/2024 19:18

@Beans1982 my LO upped his bottle size when he dropped one, so he went up to a 240 (270 when mixed) and dropped to 3, I'm pretty sure you can't over feed them, my midwife told me that they will just stop eating when they're full. Not sure at what age that becomes untrue though. Our schedule just now is roughly:
7:30 porridge,
between 10-11 botte,
somewhere between 12&2 lunch,
around 2-3 bottle (depending on when lunch fell might be bottle before lunch),
4:30-5:30 dinner (I don't eat dinner with him),
6:30-7:30 bottle and bed.

It changes everyday based on when he wakes up and how his naps fall. But that a rough schedule for us now.

Has anyone successfully been driving through babies bed time and managed to transition from car seat to bed without the 2-3 hour wake window ... this is us right now. I don't know how I'm gonna get him out of the car seat and into his sleeping bag whilst he stays asleep - is this even doable?

@Nclktnntt we managed it once! She was so tired she didn’t wake up. How did it go?

Avie29 · 01/10/2024 20:44

@Beans1982 i think i may have figured out what is going on, i pumped yesterday and after 20-30mins of pumping only managed to get 4oz, so i think she is feeding little and often and doing this throughout the night too, ive been trying to get her to take a formula bottle before bed but she doesn’t like it and will only have 2oz before she refuses 🤦🏻‍♀️ so the aim now is to keep trying with bottles and hopefully her little tummy can hold more, she is gaining weight beautifully though so im not worried about it would just like a nice block of sleep in the night lol, @Nclktnntt very gently lol i have managed to do it a few times get your body as close to baby as possible, one hand under head, one under bum and lift straight onto shoulder (the closer you are the less far you have to lift) pat bum n shhh if they stir, ive never used a sleeping bag so don’t know how you’re going to tackle that one lol xx

FlyingHighFlyingLow · 01/10/2024 21:03

@Avie29 what you pump isn't anything to do with what's in there. I pumped for 30 min, didn't even get an ounce. Baby woke up, latched him to that side and he fed happily! Even did his 'lovely' detach and spray it everywhere a couple times.

My baby still doesn't sleep longer than 2 hours at a time though but hasn't since birth 😭

Avie29 · 01/10/2024 21:12

@FlyingHighFlyingLow ah ok so not that then 🤦🏻‍♀️ i have no idea why she wakes so much then 😂, she has been doing it since 4 months, she used to sleep 6-7 hours, i feel for you, ive only been sleep deprived for 5 months and im dying 😂 i used to get up and cook my older 4 breakfast before school, now i make toast and cereal haha xx

Nclktnntt · 01/10/2024 22:02

Well that was a disaster 😭 . Didn't help I also had to change him. He would fall asleep fairly easy but sleep so light that I couldn't actually put him down without him waking up and looking me like 'what do you think you're doing?, you woke me up, this is on you😂' and that cycled for about an hour to 90 mins. He's in bed now, stirring but more asleep than awake, so fingers crossed he'll drop into a nice deep sleep 🤞

Hey how is everyone getting on? Anyone have their 9-12 month development check booked? Or had it? How did it go? My little Bambi has attempted a few steps, but mostly just likes diving at me or trust falling onto me lol she has learnt to wave which is adorable, she waves like royals though sort of twists her hand lol xx

Hi 👋

We're doing good! Sleep has been terrible lately for us though. Waking 2-3 times in the night, I was getting used to feeling a little rested 😂 I'm blaming teeth but not sure if it might be his new milk 🤷‍♀️ we're almost on a full bottle of his new milk. Almost.

I totally forgot about that. Is it with the doctors? Our little man is about to try standing on his own, he's done it a couple times and fell on his bum but you can see him actually thinking about it as he's about to let go of the sofa or bed or whatever he's using as support. He launches himself at me if I'm close by though and forgets to bring his feet along with him 😂

That's so cute how your little one waves , our little guy waves, either just puts his hand up, very often does it to my husband, or flaps his arm up and down lol.

Hey everyone!

sleep is a hit or a miss over here too. Seems like we have one night good, one night bad and so on lol 😟

still not crawling 😂 she’s so close though, I’m assuming that’s why sleep is messed up. She waves and claps and is getting better at holding onto things and standing up.

how many hours naps do your LOs have?

weaning is a hit or miss too 😂🙄 she’s defo got fave meals that she devours (soup, pasta, toast) but I try to offer variety and she just refuses it! The joys

Avie29 · 14/10/2024 15:32

@Nclktnntt @99SR sleep here is still rubbish lol still up ever 1-2hours, she swings from 2 short naps in the day to 1 long nap, yesterday she napped for 30 mins twice but today she napped for 2&half hours 🤷🏻‍♀️ thats longer than she sleeps at night lol @Nclktnntt my development check is booked by/with the hv, is soo cute when they wave and same she generally waves at OH, yesterday afternoon and today she suddenly started saying mumma 🥹 shes been saying bubba for ages but first mumma without crying lol xx

chloesl1808 · 15/10/2024 21:12

Hello everyone!

Bit of a random one here but thinking ahead to my little girls 1st birthday and wondering if I should do a family party/something just at the house on the Sunday before her actual birthday... or maybe absolutely nothing lol. But then I feel bad for her (even though I know she probably won't remember)

Just wondered if anyone else has had a different idea.

Nclktnntt · 16/10/2024 13:32

Heya @chloesl1808 I've been toying with the same thing. I want a first bday party but nothing too ott, I also don't wanna overwhelm him as it's usually small get togethers we go too.

I know he won't remember it, but I do want the day to feel special for him, sounds silly to say but I've always been big on birthdays and I don't want xmas to overshadow it so maybe that's why 🤷‍♀️

Hey ladies!

A lot of teething going on here...they seem to be coming through all at the same time 😫apart from that though my LO seems to be doing alright 😄Sleep is hit and miss here as well. His morning nap is fine, goes to sleep almost as soon as his head lays on the mattress. He struggles a bit with the second nap and can be awake for 4 hours sometimes. Bedtime is a real struggle, sometimes takes me 1.5 hours to get him to sleep even though I try to get him to bed no later than 3.5 hours since his last nap.
His 2 naps total on average 2.5 hours but has had as little as 1.5 hours on somedays.

He's crawling to objects so he can pull himself up to stand and cruise - we have a playpen for him in the kitchen, it's one of those you can add/remove plastic sections, he holds the sides to cruise around it at speed and to squat lol!

Feeding-wise, he seems to be enjoying more variety of solids and is finally getting the hang of BLW (he was just crushing food in his hand but not taking it to his mouth). I think we're nearing the point of dropping down to 3 bottles of formula as his 2nd bottle is getting later into the day (used to be around 10.30/11am, now closer to 1.30ish with the 3rd bottle offered at 3.30ish).

Things seem to be different in Wales, don't have a HV appointment until LO is 15 months old?...

@chloesl1808 isn't it crazy how fast this first year has gone! No plans for LO's first birthday yet, but I'm sure we'll have a mini celebration to mark the occassion. It's on the 27th Dec so I'm sure there'll still be plenty of festive food and cake to have 😁

Avie29 · 17/10/2024 07:09

i will probably just have a small party, i generally let my kids pick a place to go on their birthdays (crealy, woodlands, zoo etc) but i have no idea what to do for her birthday when she gets older, not many places open lol my older kids are all spring/summer babies lol xx

Nclktnntt · 21/10/2024 08:52

@Avie29 I've been thinking of going to the zoo on his bday day, my husband then said 'the start of Jan you wanna go to the zoo?' So maybe weather depending we'll do something indoors, but I did remind him we have his gnoosh for the pram rated to -15 and we have jackets and rain covers soooo... what's really stopping us lol.

We'll definitely have a family get together and a bday cake with a banner up for sure.

@Nclktnntt true nothing stopping a day out, just not so enjoyable in the cold lol, my little girl has just started bopping to music last few days, so cute and funny bless her xx
