@Avie29 oh no! Don’t be too hard on yourself, accidents happen and atleast she was ok! X

Avie29 · 26/07/2024 15:06

She is in the wars today, my son left his phone on charge on the tv stand and she pulled the wire and the phone fell on her face 😢 she is not having a good day lol yea @99SR she was fine only cried for 2 mins, but mummy been feeling guilty all day haha and phone/face incident -didn’t cry, looked a bit shocked lol poor baby xx

99SR · 26/07/2024 16:11

@Avie29 i hate that feeling! My LG leaned forward for a toy the other day and face planted but ofcourse bumped her cheekbone off a plastic toy which left a tiny bruise. Queue every family member “oh what happened to her face” making me feel extra guilty lol. X

Avie29 · 07/08/2024 09:12

Awww first tooth! 🥰 but also no more gummy smile 😞 growing up too fast, how is everyone doing? xx

Nclktnntt · 10/08/2024 15:58

We have teeth coming in too @Avie29 - he's teething so much bless him. They're right under the surface, not popped through yet I don't think. I'm gonna miss the gummy smile 😀

We're doing good. How are you and your little one getting on?

My LG got her 2 bottom teeth at 5 months and wasn’t bothered at all. I didn’t even notice they were coming through until I seen it cut the gum. But these top ones will be the death of me!!! Few nights ago up every hour. Crying lots. Everything in her mouth! Deary me lol poor soul!!

FlyingHighFlyingLow · 10/08/2024 22:17

Mine is 8mo, seems to be teething constantly but still no teeth!

Nclktnntt · 11/08/2024 08:27

Anyone having skin irritation issues when feeding?

Our LO's skin on his face and hands (wherever food touches) came out blotchy, red and spotty(almost) from the get go. Maybe a week into weaning. At first I put it down to how we were doing clean up (was wiping but not drying his skin). Changed that and now have to wash the food off his face and hands with his emollient cream, dry and re-cream after. Thats ok, a faff, he doesn't like it but his skin does improve. Then he'll have something that sets it off and back to square 1!

Anyone else dealing with possible allergies? What is the process, what have they said to do? Have you been referred to a dietitian?

We have a docs appointment a week on Monday and have been advised to continue weaning in the meantime. I gave it a couple days to let his skin heal and not be red raw before we started again, against their advice but I couldn't put him through that, it was obviously saw and creating a stressful eating situation rather than a fun throw food around one 😢.

I know im gonna miss the gummy smiles too, i can just see the top of her bottom right tooth bless her, we are doing good, she is keeping us on our toes though, caught her in the back garden sitting in a puddle yesterday, stair gate we have for the back door doesn’t fit so have to buy a wider one 🤦🏻‍♀️ and of course now she crawling everywhere ‘get to mummy is her main objective’ im guessing she thought mummy was in the garden as the door was left open by big brother mummy was in the kitchen getting her lunch lol xx

FlyingHighFlyingLow · 11/08/2024 11:22

@Nclktnntt mine has allergies to dairy, soy and egg. Knew about the first two pre-weaning. Egg was on weaning. Immediately covered in hives on neck and chin and jaw. Have you kept a food diary to see what sets it off?

Mushroo · 11/08/2024 16:31

@Nclktnntt yup, sadly discovered a peanut and egg allergy whilst weaning which has taken all the fun out of everything.

We’re through most of the other allergens now though and LOs skin has calmed down a lot. Weaning really really flared up her eczema but seems we’re getting to the other side.

id recommend getting a referrals ASAP if you suspect an allergy - we got referred back in June and the appointment isn’t until the end of August

Beans1982 · 11/08/2024 19:46

My LO is coming up to 33 weeks. He's teething like crazy but no sign of a tooth to be seen.
He's trying his best to crawl, manages to get up on all fours, rocks back and forth before throwing himself forward and faceplants the mat. Does it in his bed as well, like he's doing a downward dog pose? 😆

Not seen any signs of allergies as yet but haven't tried fish or soy for him yet. Had a rash around his mouth a few days ago but I put that down to either teething or because of the fruit he'd eaten as I think citrus can create a rash.

99SR · 11/08/2024 20:20

We have a dairy allergy too! (Knew from early on - not early enough but that’s another story) it’s put me off trying allergens tbh! Going to try peanut butter tomorrow on toast tho. Think she might have a sensitivity to soy because she pumps loads after it & has had a few dirty nappies that aren’t typical for her afterwards!

Nclktnntt · 11/08/2024 20:24

I think my LOs might be wheat based or along those lines. I suspected oats but when he had Wheetabix it was so bad. Because hes been teething I put the flare up under his chin to drool initially, then as it seemed to be getting worse down to how we were doing clean up, then it started getting better but would be worse on having porridge (I think) so avoided those to let his skin clear up and try again but then Wheetabix took it to a whole new level.

@FlyingHighFlyingLow Kept a rough diary the first 2 weeks. But kept a food diary following that and then since his skin really flared up I've been keeping a detailed diary with how he's been on clean up and his skin later on too.

@Mushroo that's so far away, have you had your do anything in the meantime whilst waiting? Like avoid certain things etc.

@Avie29 our LO has both coming through at the bottom, the right one seems to be coming through first with the left super close behind. He really cried this evening with them 😥 it's heartbreaking when he looks at you to fix / help but you can't do anything. Other than calpol and tethers of course.

Mushroo · 11/08/2024 20:55

@Nclktnntt ive been able to go private through work in the meantime so it’s not been too bad. We had skin prick tests and she was negative for tree nuts so we’ve introduced those and been fine. Otherwise they said until you’ve done the testing, hold off on other nuts because they can be risky.

They said just do all the other allergens though, best to get them in early if you can.

We still have the more obscure ones left, like mustard, shellfish, molluscs (?!) and a couple of nuts.

Noname112 · 12/08/2024 19:52

@Nclktnntt Not this time but my eldest is allergic to dairy egg, wheat and peanut all IgE reactions found on weaning. His reactions have all been redness, hives and swelling of face but never full anaphylaxis. Definitely makes feeding him tricky. Wait times for allergy and dieticians are long. My eldest had his first reaction at 6 months and a few days old and we weren’t seen by anyone until he was 10.5 months old. He seen yearly now and we’ve waited 10 months to do a food challenge in hospital.

Food diaries and pictures of reactions definitely a good idea. Would also probably ask for some anti histamine to be prescribed as can’t get over counter under 1 year.

Also can get contact rashes. May be worthwhile trying some emollient before eating to see if helps prevent it.

Nclktnntt · 13/08/2024 19:05

@Mushroo thank you

@Noname112 he has his emollient cream that I use to wash post food not tried it pre but we do do his other cream pre food (prescribed for his dry skin) we do it on every nappy change head to toe (5-6 times a day) plus his face and hands I do extras in between. I do also have antihistamine medicine already as he was suspected to have heat rash when I went in with his skin but turned out it wasn't.

Thanks both, I'll definitely push to be referred I think, so we start the ball rolling and see if it's anything serious or minor and control his exposure to certain things better. Worst case, we do have private care and have added him on it so if need be can use that. It's just knowing if best to avoid certain things completely or just in small doses or when to introduce new allergens if they've reacted to one before isn't it.

Anyone really struggling with sleep. Our boy was a great sleeper when younger. Now waking up at 230 every morning. Only napping around 45mins-1 hour a day then staying awake late at night too.

Mine has still slept a stretch longer than 2 hours exactly twice in his life 🤣

Noname112 · 14/08/2024 07:46

@Flowers90 definitely feel like we’re getting worse and worse here. At 10 weeks old was sleeping 12 hours overnight with no wakes. Now between 2-1 million wakes. Also mainly on 2 naps but really still needs 3 but can’t convince him to have a third though he sleeps way better when he does. 2 naps was ok as he was still having relatively long naps but now he’s often having 2 x30-40 mins. Wouldn’t mind if he was happy with that like my eldest was but he’s so obviously tired but also so distracted and nosey for everything and with a toddler too it’s impossible to resettle him. He also was a great independent sleeper but is becoming harder and harder to put down now. Trying to remind myself it’s all a phase and he’s teething and so close to crawling and pulling up and starting to cruise, trying to clap hands and wave so I’m sure his brain is busy but also hard not to feel you’re getting something wrong when he was sleeping so well.

Nclktnntt · 14/08/2024 09:30

We seem to be coming out the other side of it 🤞 he woke just once last night but did self settle. I had to google if there was a 6 month regression because it was like being back in the early early days again for a couple weeks and he would not self settle. Apparently there's an 8-9 month regression, so I've/we've got that to look forward too 🙈.

OP posts:
Avie29 · 14/08/2024 16:45

My baby girl never stopped after the 4 month regression lol wakes a good 4-5 times a night and naps only twice a day for about 30 mins tops, if she regresses again at 8/9 months then she won’t be sleeping at all 😨 😂 xx

Cindy1802 · 14/08/2024 20:46

Mine has been an awful sleeper from the get go. All I can say is that it's comforting to read that many of you are up multiple times a night too, I feel like I have read too many posts about December babies sleeping through from a young age 😅 it's been 9 months since I've slept well (I had awful pregnancy insomnia in the last few weeks)

Are you able to block out the light during the day? I found this helped with our LO a lot for day naps. Sometimes he still only has 30 mins but we've been getting one long nap a day this past week (around 60-90 mins). His last nap of the day is also a difficult one, and I've found a walk outside usually does the trick, not always but 9times out of 10. This one's usually 20-30 mins though.

OP posts:
99SR · 15/08/2024 06:56

Because my baby is an early riser her first nap seems to be between 7/8 so we’re struggling to fully transition to 2 naps. I’m trying but yesterday by 4pm she was shattered so I gave her another 20mins and this meant she was up til 8 lol gave her a new lease of life 😬 xx
