Feeling very done with pregnancy today and ready to meet baby boy! The piles are also starting to get worse and more uncomfortable so going to mention it to my midwife tomorrow. Anyone else been suffering with them?

thislittlebird · 18/04/2024 17:39

@KG1244 yeah I mentioned further up how they'd been horrendous. I had 11 days on antibiotics and a few days of an upset stomach, it made them 100 times worse. On Sunday night I was up all night crying in pain tbh, I think they became thrombosed. The OTC creams weren't working so on Monday the doctor gave me Scheriproct ointment and, touch wood, so far it seems to be gradually getting better. Certainly not gone but nothing like it was a few days ago. I've had to buy a donut cushion, which is better, also been doing shallow epsom salt baths 1-3 times per day which is supposed to help. They're possibly the worst part of pregnancy so far, desperate for the baby to come out and them to go back where they came from!

@thislittlebird sorry I completely missed that! I am so fed up with them! I’m sorry to hear you’ve had such a shit time with them. It’s so miserable. I’m going to contact my dr for that cream - thank you for sharing. I’m just really worried about having them and going through a vaginal birth. That will 100% make them worse. Definitely makes me keener for a c section.

thislittlebird · 18/04/2024 18:55

@KG1244 definitely ask the doctor for it, it has prednisolone in and does seem to be calming things down. yeah, vaginal birth will make them worse. My friend at work said she didn’t even have any until she gave birth and then they were awful after. If we’ve already got them I’m sure they’d get worse! It’s honestly made me relieved I’m having a c section because sod developing more of them. I never realised how painful piles could be, and I’m now going to have to be really careful not to aggravate them with diet etc from now on :/

In other pregnancy moans, my ankles and feet have ballooned today. I look ridiculous.

Midwife appointment today, she confirmed my suspicions that the baby has turned. I thought she had, because my bladder was under pressure and a possibly foot has been lodged in my belly. Looks like my c section is on May 24th at the moment, so dh gets a day between our birthdays unless she arrives early!

@thislittlebird Are you pleased to have a date? Did the midwife say anything about the swollen legs etc?

TheBirdintheCave · 19/04/2024 14:38

@thislittlebird Not too long now! Seems she's ready to go! 😄

thislittlebird · 19/04/2024 15:31

@PollywithaP no, she just seemed to think it was bog standard. Did ask me if I’d had bleeding when I reported haemorrhoids from the iron, which the doctor also asked me, but I haven’t had that. She’s going to retest my iron in a couple of weeks.

@TheBirdintheCave I was wondering if this meant she might decide to arrive early! I don’t know how soon they normally turn and obviously I haven’t been thinking much about it because c section is booked.

@thislittlebird My son was head down and engaged from early on. He ended up being a week late so there could still be plenty of time :)

thislittlebird · 19/04/2024 16:21

@TheBirdintheCave oh good, I won’t panic yet then lol

I’m still fretting about having done zero antenatal. We’re doing some nhs online thing soon but worried I’ll regret not knowing anyone else with a baby the same age.

@thislittlebird We didn't get on with anyone from our online baby class. You can always go to play groups to make friends :)

thislittlebird · 24/04/2024 19:10

@TheBirdintheCave i think that’s what I’ll have to do, it’s all getting a bit late. I haven’t done anything, dh is doing a baby how to class all day on Saturday with other men, I’ve done nothing of the sort!

Had my ECV this morning. Baby turned successfully on the first try so we're now 37+2, head down and ready to party 🥳

It was a bit painful but not unbearable and the procedure itself only took about 20 seconds.

PollywithaP · 25/04/2024 10:54

@TheBirdintheCave well done! Hopefully baby will stay head down now 🤞
Mine is currently transverse which is very uncomfortable. Consultant is not concerned as I am booked for C section anyway. I’ve tried the spinning babies stuff to no avail. It’s staying put 🤣

CollsR · 25/04/2024 22:25

@thislittlebird You’ve been having a really rough time in pregnancy. Glad you have. C-section booked as you wanted.

I don’t think antenatal classes are needed, can just be an added bonus. Main things I learnt were safe sleeping (have baby’s feet touching cot/crib), a chart showing how much poo/pee is normal first 4 weeks as this shows they are feeding enough, don’t bath first 3 weeks just clean with wet cotton balls, and that no matter the stage of labour there are times of normalcy between contractions.

CollsR · 25/04/2024 22:26

@TheBirdintheCave congrats, great news that baby has turned.

CollsR · 25/04/2024 22:30

I’m 8 days from my due date & will get my induction date in 3 days.

I had a cold & cough for over a week that wiped me out. Mostly over it but still napping often. Feeling stressed and overwhelmed at times. I think the hormones are causing me to overthink. Not as perfectly prepared as I’d like… but that’s okay and I still have time to try finish some stuff… like having guest room tidy instead of full of baby stuff I’ve been given in the last couple of weeks

KG1244 · 26/04/2024 06:48

Sorry for disappearing for a few days. Baby boy was born on Wednesday via c section. So very in love with him and can’t believe he is my baby. Definitely a steep learning curve with motherhood and hoping to leave the hospital today and go home. Any tips for baby boy that keeps peeing on himself? Oh my the screaming!!!

TheBirdintheCave · 26/04/2024 06:51

@KG1244 Congratulations! 🥳🥳 The first few weeks are the hardest but you'll get there. Dummies were a life saver for us re sleeping and crying.

PollywithaP · 26/04/2024 08:43

@KG1244 Congratulations 👍

CollsR · 26/04/2024 12:20

@KG1244 Congratulations!! Welcome to your new baby boy!

ASGIRC · 26/04/2024 14:44

@KG1244 congrats!!! Is he peeing when you change his nappy?

KG1244 · 26/04/2024 14:58

@ASGIRC yep! Not every time but twice in the middle of the night which was not fun and went all over him!

ASGIRC · 26/04/2024 16:37

@KG1244 not sure if youve tried this yet, but when you are changing his nappy, before you remove it, try rubbing below his belly button with a wet cloth or whatever you use to clean his bum! Usually that makes them pee, as the reason they pee when the nappy is removed is supposedly because of the cold, and that fakes that.

That way he pees before you remove his nappy!

If youve tried that, I would maybe recommend covering him with the nappy, to try and contain it?

My baby girl pees a lot when being changed... the first few times it was a complete outfit change as well,as it went everywhere! Now I always have a nappy under her! LOL
