@Shrillwaffle awww I totally understand! I'm still waiting on mine to pop - the bulging of the rim is actually even more weird and icky!

Soooo I had a private 4D scan today because I wanted to see baby one more time before D-day! I went in knowing that the image might be a little weird to see but I didn't think anything of it...
Now I've seen it, it was so squashed and... strange looking? 😥 I feel so bad even saying this!! Don't get me wrong, I loved loved seeing baby but was a bit like 'woah!' And the poor nose was so squashed and huge, I don't know why it took me by surprise!
Feel like I needed to ask if anyone else has experienced this and hope I'm not the only horrible crazy mum!

Kelb79 · 03/12/2023 12:33

@Shrillwaffle this is exactly why I haven’t had a 4D scan - they freak me out so much! It’s always amazing to see baby but those scans make them look soooo strange!! I just can’t have that image in my head 🫣🫣
You’re definitely not a bad mum ❤️❤️ it’s just a really unusual and quite distorted view of baby 🙏🏼🙏🏼

I’m on daily belly button watch now…. Soooo freaked out by the potential pop out 🤣🤣 anyone else still holding on tightly to their inny?? 🤔

Shrillwaffle · 03/12/2023 15:39

@Kelb79 think you meant to tag @msp2023 😅 but I haven’t had a 4D scan don’t think I will either. I’m getting scanned and monitored twice a week so I’m fortunate to see her every week so I don’t really see the point in having one 🤷🏻‍♀️ more excited to see when she’s here tbh

amyg1985 · 03/12/2023 18:20

I agree on both the 4d scan and the belly button @Kelb79 - I think we're the only ones of our antenatal class not to have the scan but I find them a bit freaky. I keep trying to get over it because it's been such a long time since the 20 week scan but think I'll be waiting until they arrive now!

Belly button just about an innie - mine has always been quite deep but we're now only a millimetre or so. 10 weeks to go!

anony1111 · 03/12/2023 18:38

On the belly button topic, you might be lucky and it not pop out. In my first pregnancy it kind of just stayed flat, unfortunately not so lucky this time and it keeps popping out 🤢

Meeting · 03/12/2023 20:28

Can I ask what antenatal classes everyone has been offered? I've only been given a one-off 2 hour "crash course" and that seems a bit crap but not sure if that's normal? I looked into private courses but I live in a small village and everything is over an hour away :(

Mangotango39 · 03/12/2023 20:41

My belly button is still very much in at 29+3 but my bump isn't really that big. My bb is also quite deep and small haha!

amyg1985 · 03/12/2023 20:58

I think that's fairly normal @Meeting - there is a breastfeeding specific in person class offered here but, in terms of more general birth planning/baby 101, the expectation is that you'll do private classes of some sort it seems.

I signed up for this over the Black Friday weekend (but seems quite reasonably priced anyway) - birth-ed.co.uk/online-course-2

Not done any yet so can't vouch for whether it's any good.

novamama · 03/12/2023 22:05

@Meeting I got these free NCT classes, as my hospital trust is part of this program

www.nct.org.uk/about-us/community-support-programmes/free-nhs-nct-antenatal-courses

It's a 3x 3h session on Zoom; I had my first sesh on Sat - it was not too informative for me, as I read a few books and I knew all the pregnancy/labour info already. But, I am very curious how the next sessions go, because they are supposed to be focused on how to take care of newborn and I have much to learn there 😅

msp2023 · 04/12/2023 11:41

Thank you for the comments on the 4D scan! Glad I'm not the only one who thinks they're slightly scary!

I'm coming up to 32 weeks soon and starting to think about raspberry leaf tea. Anyone tried the tea before and have any comments? Or any brand recommendations? H&B have a few but don't seem to be 100% raspberry leaf tea so not sure if they're pointless!

PeeBeee · 04/12/2023 13:33

Hi ladies, I had my 28 week apt today, there were ketones in my urine but they werent concerned as I did the gt test last week and bloods came back clear so just told me to drink more water.

my next apt is in 2 weeks where I will be getting booked in for my elcs… its all got more real now🥹

PeeBeee · 04/12/2023 13:40

Consultant didnt mark my growth chart but notes say baby is 1277g at 27+6. From what I can see online, that weight at 28 weeks is roughly the 90th centile, does that sound correct?

anony1111 · 04/12/2023 14:18

@msp2023 I'm not a fruit tea drinker and struggled to drink it in my last pregnancy. It doesn't taste very nice in my opinion. I was thinking of taking it in tablet form this time but gonna speak with my midwife to check that's ok first

Ebonythoughts · 04/12/2023 17:22

Reading everyone’s comments on 4D scans! I’ve booked for next week when I’ll be 32 weeks but thinking of cancelling it now 🙈

Woke up with the urge to clean out the fridge and do some meal prep and now baby has dropped so low it’s uncomfortable and I’m getting quite a few Braxton hicks so having a lie down and hoping this discomfort subsides soon 🥺

PeeBeee · 04/12/2023 18:13

@Ebonythoughts i think the 4d is amazing and we are going back this weekend for free as pics werent great as little madam would not remove her hands from her face, will defo be having a coke before this one haha!

i can see why people could find it weird tho - in one still my little one looked like it had a nose 4inches long but then in other still its was a wee button nose so depending on babies movements but i personally 100% would recommend!

anony1111 · 04/12/2023 18:22

@Ebonythoughts I had a 4d scan with my first and absolutely loved it, I will share a photo below. I think it's amazing they can get such clear pictures. I'd defo recommend having one

CheeseAndCrackersx · 04/12/2023 18:36

I loved my 4D scan.
I had mine before I was even 24 weeks and the detail in it was amazing and defo gave us an idea of who he looks like already 🙂
I'd love another tbh to see what more difference there could be but 0 point with having growth scans cos need gaps between.

Can't believe I'm 30 weeks tomorrow 😳
I get emotional looking at those posts on here who have just had positive pregnancy tests thinking omg that feels so long ago now! X

undercoverhero74 · 04/12/2023 19:32

@Ebonythoughts I too enjoyed my 4D scan with my first. I'll attach a pic. My little lad wouldn't play ball initially but when he did he stared right at us! To this day I can't decide if it's creepy or really cool 😂😂😂
I have my 4D scan on Sunday and I'm really looking forward to it. More so to see if this little cupcake looks anything like her big brother.

Ebonythoughts · 04/12/2023 19:37

Thank you all! I’ll have a think about whether to go ahead with the 4D scan appointment or not… would love to see but don’t want to get freaked out lol

redxlondon · 04/12/2023 22:27

I was going to have a 4D / 3D scan but think you’ve convinced me to skip it. I’ve got a growth scan on Wednesday, hoping everything is all still going well.

msp2023 · 04/12/2023 22:51

Oh nooo I didn't mean to put people off their 4D scans at all!!
I think it's because I went just after 31 weeks, baby was super squashed up and it wasn't the best time to see all the features properly!
Please don't let my experience put you off! I've seen loads of gorgeous 4D scans too!

Don’t worry!! I was really undecided so think it’s helped confirm my worries and best maybe saving the money. I’m 30 weeks on Thursday so think I’ve left it too late anyway.

CheeseAndCrackersx · 05/12/2023 07:22

Is anyone struggling with leg/foot cramps?

I woke up at 5 with cramping in my right foot and ankle. Haven't been back to sleep yet but it's now started in my left leg 🙃

Ebonythoughts · 05/12/2023 07:53

Had the worse night last night with back to back braxton hicks, back pain like period pain and indigestion (feeling sick) 🥺😩 is that normal? Managed a couple of hours sleep 😩

I was more active during the day yesterday so I'm not sure if it's because I tired myself out. Any one else had this yet.

Ch49091 · 05/12/2023 08:40

Hi all! I was on this thread when it first started then took some time off social as I was struggling mentally but had a run to triage last night (everything is ok!) and realised how much this community actually helps, especially now that we're getting towards the end, and comforts each other so I've been catching up! Hope everyone is doing ok?
