Is anyone else being kept awake by lots of baby movements?

amyg1985 · 16/11/2023 07:20

Baby is fond of a 3am dance party @Nemo145

CheeseAndCrackersx · 16/11/2023 07:49

Are we allowed these ladies? I feel like I've swallowed razor blades 🥴
I know the cough medicine we can have and honey and lemon only from when I was poorly in first tri, But I just need something other than soothers 😄

@amyg1985 oh gosh! I find if I’m asleep it’s ok but if I wake up for a wee, then I can’t get back to sleep due to lots of wriggling. I tell myself it’s all good him moving round a lot though, but I’m soooo tired 😴

amyg1985 · 16/11/2023 08:11

Yes, same @Nemo145 - baby is definitely a night owl

My understanding is that there are no studies on the effect of these during pregnancy/breastfeeding, but that they are not expected to have a damaging effect. Take with caution, the advice is. I interpret that as a couple could be ok, but don't take a box at once?

Personally, I didn't take them. Instead, I gargled with (very) salty water, drank hot tea and covered my throat in honey...

Can you check with the pharmacist? Always best to get specific advice depending on ingredients, just in case something anyone online isn’t aware of.

Ladies who have had a GD test recently, what week of pregnancy are you in? I ask as I still haven't received my appointment and not sure when to chase it up x

I just had mine at 28+6. I believe it's meant to be done before 29 weeks.

msp2023 · 16/11/2023 13:35

I had my fundal height measured today - baby plotted under 3rd centile so I'm being referred for a growth scan :(
Hopefully all is well and get the scan asap to ease my worries!

Kelb79 · 16/11/2023 14:00

@msp2023 i had the same yesterday! Going for growth scan today so fingers crossed all is ok 🤞🏼
I definitely think hang fire on the worrying, the midwife measurements are far from accurate. (Easier said than done I know!!! 🫣) Good luck xX

LavenderSweetPea · 16/11/2023 15:09

@CheeseAndCrackersx I took those when I had covid a couple of months ago. Pharmacist said it was ok for organdy but not ideal for breastfeeding

@anony1111 mine is booked in for 28+5 it was organised at my 25w midwife appointment

And you!! I'm sure all is okay for both of us - I know the fundal measurements are super unreliable!

And at least we get an extra scan to see our babies 💗

anony1111 · 16/11/2023 18:22

@LavenderSweetPea thank you, I don't have a 25 week app as it's my second baby. I think I'm gonna give my midwife a call to chase it up

Kelb79 · 16/11/2023 22:41

@msp2023 so here’s just how inaccurate the fundal measurement can be…..

On fundal I measured in the 10th centile…. Baby is measuring a whopping 88th centile!!!! 😳😳🤣🤣 blew my mind!
so lush to get an extra scan though!!

@Kelb79 such a cute nose!

Kelb79 · 16/11/2023 22:49

@Mangotango39 OMG I know right!!! 🥹🥹🥹 I literally just wanna squish that nose!! I can’t wait!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️

CheeseAndCrackersx · 16/11/2023 23:23

@Kelb79 I'm going to sound really daft but I don't understand this whole centile thing.

Does it mean your baby is measuring big now? As in weeks ahead? Xx

Ahhhh this has made me feel better!! I have my scan later today so hoping for a similar outcome!

What a gorgeous little baby you're growing there 🥰

If you’re in the 50th percentile it means 50% of babies are bigger at this stage, 50% smaller - so average. If you’re the 90th percentile it would mean only 10% of babies are bigger than yours at the same week. So measuring big.

Cheetocat · 17/11/2023 07:17

@CheeseAndCrackersx 50th centile is basically the average size of baby at whatever gestation you're at. If baby is 5th centile it means they're little for gestational age, if they're 65th they're just a tiny bit a hove average. I believe that's how it works anyway.

Hi all, my blood test results for my 28 week app came back and my iron is quite low. I’ve been anaemic most of my adult life and have really struggled with iron tablets (GP has tried me on 7 different types). I had an iron infusion privately done in February and has meant I’ve been able to sustain my iron levels with just diet up until now.

Midwife advised I go on iron tablets and I explained to her I can’t. I’m trying gummies at the moment but I know the dose is a lot lower so not sure the difference it will make.

I’m considering another iron infusion and wondering if anyone has had this during pregnancy and if there are any risks?

CheeseAndCrackersx · 17/11/2023 09:55

Ah 😊 Thank you @Cheetocat & @redxlondon x

Cheetocat · 17/11/2023 10:10

Doing my GTT right now, only 40 minutes until I can have breakfast, I'm so hungry. 😅 I had a lemon flavoured drink that was nicely refrigerated so it wasn't bad at all.

Hello!
Iron infusions are very commonly used in pregnancy and are safe (with appropriate checks that should be done by the hosp, monitoring etc).
