Aaaw @ttcttc and @NSx how cute are these!! I really want a 4d scan now and thinking of taking my son along too so he can get a better idea what’s going on in mummy’s tummy!

Did they keep the sex well hidden then? I’d be worried we would get a glimpse and ruin it 😬

Also re names…boys are so difficult! I’ve been scrolling through the Office for National Statistics excel spreadsheet for inspo. Our girls name is pretty set though.

ttcttc · 07/08/2023 13:20

NSx · 07/08/2023 12:40

@ttcttc awwww so cute. I’m in exactly the same boat as you. I have loads of pics some clearer than others but can get an idea. But don’t know if girl or boy either 🥹 …. Baby was starting to smile too 🥹

Awww what a little dot 💙💗
I was thinking girl, now I'm thinking boy!
The Sonographer said mine started crying on this one... probably because she was squirting it and making me jump around to move the hands 😂

@BeaKind boys names are sooo hard!

Yes they didn't know the screen on until they worked out the position, then concentrated just on face (and feet and hands because they were in front of face 😆 )

LaVitesse2022 · 07/08/2023 14:03

Gorgeous pics! It's so wonderful to see our baby's face for the first time, isn't it? 😍

@BeaKind I wouldn't worry about catching a glimpse, honestly, I had to ask sonographer to confirm for mine and even now we have a hard time identifying the thing in the pic! It's a weird angle. 4d scans are not that good! Even for face, sonographer always has to spend a lot of time to get a nice look of baby's face, otherwise it looks like melted clay 😅 Don't get me wrong, I'd do it again for sure, but it takes time to get a proper look so don't worry about it!

doeandfawn · 07/08/2023 14:49

Your 4d scan pics are all so beautiful! We’re working out if we can justify the cost of getting another one done before wee one arrives.

re:names, we genuinely found using the names we thought we liked to refer to bump super useful. Set a timescale of a few days and we discussed during and after how we felt about each. Only took a few duds to get to the one we’ve stuck with.

BeaKind · 07/08/2023 20:03

Haha @LaVitesse2022 melted clay 😂

@doeandfawn that’s a really good idea. Think we’ll give that a go.

peonygirl · 07/08/2023 20:14

ahhhh your 4D pictures are gorgeous, the babies really look like...babies :)

@BeaKind @Ss32 and @Alexandra07 thank you for answering my question about the hospital bed. I have now prepared sets of clothes of all size ranges and will decide what goes into hospital bed after the baby growth scans when I will have an approx. idea what he might need. One of my work colleagues could pick up an additional bag should I need it but it will need to be prepared in advance hence my preparations like we're going to war :)

@BeaKind yes I am doing this solo and it has all come crashing down this past week. Hence me being AWOL from this site - I just cried for days because I cannot come to terms I might need to do insulin injections. I have diabetes clinic tomorrow but I am just so anxious. I cannot deal with needles any more and I have another blood test tomorrow. My hematoma from last time just vanished and now I need to do all over again. I just find everything really hard at the moment.

NSx · 07/08/2023 20:51

@BeaKind for me they told us to close our eyes when asked if we wanted to know the sex so they could check the legs etc, as it was a fetal well being scan so they looked at the brain and organs aswell. We didn’t see anything we shouldn’t 😂 but like someone here mentioned, they do focus on the face as in my case it was very hard to get baby’s face on the screen without it’s hands on it’s face 😂 or part of the cord covering the face 😂😅 …
@ttcttc that’s so funny you say that, I was convinced I’m having a girl until that scan. Then lots of friends and family have now said they think boy 😂 I don’t know if it’s because the way they capture the face on there is a bit like a melted candle so not too feminine 😂😂 who knows 🥹
@doeandfawn we were the same, but we managed to get a deal at window to the womb for £70 instead of £110 so we went for it. We’re glad we did as we got so many wonderful memories and also got the heartbeat put into a little fluffy bunny 🐰… I think you should if you can 🤍

LWestYorks · 08/08/2023 08:17

Morning ladies! Anyone struggling with constant tiredness this last trimester? I am so tired all the time 😫

thecatsthecats · 08/08/2023 08:45

Guh. I've just been told I have to retest for gestational diabetes because my little chunk is still >99 percentile on the belly at the 28 weeks scan. But he was already on that two weeks before I passed the last test!

Anyone else had this?

Chanteuse · 08/08/2023 09:14

@LWestYorks me! It doesn’t help that I’m hardly sleeping 😴 but doing one thing has me needing a nap!

@thecatsthecats my baby is measuring above the 100th centile and I haven’t had to do the GT yeah again - that’s strange!

OP posts:
FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween · 08/08/2023 09:19

@LWestYorks same here-waking up having to adjust for comfort and heartburn doesn’t help but the third trimester has hit me like a ton of bricks!

thecatsthecats · 08/08/2023 09:22

Really? That is annoying!

He is also NOT a cooperative baby when it comes to scans, anterior placenta and he hates sonographers and hides himself. It's taken five scans to finally see his kidneys.

monsteramunch · 08/08/2023 09:38

@thecatsthecats @Chanteuse

Are your measurements from the external check at 28 weeks or from ultrasounds?

thecatsthecats · 08/08/2023 10:08

monsteramunch · 08/08/2023 09:38

@thecatsthecats @Chanteuse

Ultrasounds. 22 weeks and 28 weeks both 99 centile - they couldn't see his stomach at 20.

thecatsthecats · 08/08/2023 10:10

The original glucose test was at 24 weeks.

Koalawhala · 08/08/2023 10:10

Had my 28 week growth scan today, all looks ok growth wise but I felt so uncomfortable during the scan. Really lightheaded and found it hard to lay still. Didn’t help that it was so hot in there! Has anyone else felt like that during the later scans?

monsteramunch · 08/08/2023 10:12

@thecatsthecats

Bless him, he's being shy! Hopefully your gestational diabetes test comes back negative, it's good they're keeping on top of it and checking just in case. What a pain though, pregnancy is admin and stress heavy enough without extras!

I wanted to check as our little one is measuring massive in the external midwife check but I'm conscious that could be down to almost anything including fluid, so we'll see at my 31 week scan (I have three booked for the third trimester because of an underlying condition) if she really is a little hulk or not!

thecatsthecats · 08/08/2023 10:43

He has a track record for not showing up in scans, and I did suggest to my husband that he skip this one. He's not sure about bothering with the next one!

Little bugger will almost certainly show up then...

razzler991 · 08/08/2023 11:03

Hi all,

Im 30 weeks and flying four hours to Greece next week. I've been suffering from lots of broken veins/burst blood vessels on face and vulva varicosities! Sorry TMI.

I was wondering if anyone could recommend some decent compression tights/leggings for the flight and can wear to help with the above? Any advice with the above symptoms would be greatly appreciated. I've been elevating my legs and going swimming to improve my circulation.

Thanks

Xxx

OrionNebula · 08/08/2023 11:27

@LWestYorks yes tired all the time! My low blood pressure doesn't help I'm sure!

2 months to my due date today, feel on the home stretch now Smile I was in Penny's (Primark) at the weekend and they had Halloween outfits in, brought it home to me how close October is getting!

Can't help with the specifics but I've flew twice this pregnancy at 20 week and 28 week. Both times absolutely fine. Just wore flight socks. Wiggled my legs too. Plus you'll be up and down for the loo!!

razzler991 · 08/08/2023 11:44

Great thanks @ttcttcb !
Will defo be wiggling my toes.

Esl17 · 08/08/2023 12:20

@razzler991 flew back from Corfu at 31+2 yesterday, flight attendant was really nice and found me and my boyfriend a spare empty row so we had a bit more space which was nice as you’re not allowed to sit in extra legroom/emergency exit row seats when pregnant and also gave me extra complimentary snacks (BA).

Flight itself was absolutely fine, the airport was the worst part as it was so hot and big queues.

Normal flight socks were fine, I did get some swelling in my ankles and feet particularly by evening but it would be gone again by the morning after being elevated each night in bed! I also wasn’t asked for any documentation/fit to fly letter at any point in the journey (flew out at 30 and back at 31) despite having paid for one!

thecatsthecats · 08/08/2023 12:51

Oh, another one - my sonographer told me off for crossing my ankles saying that it was the bad for the baby - but I can't see anything that backs that up?

Crossing legs, yes, especially if you have hip or blood pressure problems, but nothing about crossing your feet at the ankle with feet up?

I feel like she might have got the wrong end of the stick.
