@BeaKind my almost 3 year old has been in the Joie 360 isize (think that’s the name) since she was about 12 months and I reckon she has about another 6-12 months in it. I know they say suitable from birth but I don’t think they are a good fit at that age really. It is great at this age though

I took sports drinks for my birth and threw them all up 😂

HVHT · 04/09/2023 21:36

@FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween i’m on ferrous sulphate since about 25 weeks- there okay can make you constipated and stool very dark! Takes a few weeks for your iron to come up with them I think. I read that best taken on an empty stomach and absorbs better with vit c, I often take mine with a glass of OJ. Hope your last NCT is good!

MamaKitz · 04/09/2023 23:54

Hi all I'm 32 + 2. At growth scan on Friday and baby had dropped from around 50th centile 3 weeks ago, to below 10th. The same consultant has done both scans. I'm booked in for a Doppler scan to check placenta/cord on Thursday then another growth scan Monday. I had a large SCH (over 60%) which hasn't bled since end of first trimester & hasn't been seen in recent scans but I'm scared it's still there hiding & has damaged the placenta or something.
With my first DC the placenta stopped working & I ended up with an emergency cs but that wasn't until 39 weeks.
Anyone had anything similar?

FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween · 05/09/2023 05:29

@HVHT thanks for the tips! Will do that, took mine on a full stomach, whoops! Last NCT was lovely, made it all feel very real that the next time we all see each other we’ll have our babies!

Itsokaymama · 05/09/2023 12:02

@MamaKitz ive just been in a similar situation, baby dropped from 50th to 11th so been having close monitoring, but they did another growth scan yesterday and shes back up to 54th after just 2 weeks! They said they see this all the time because the scans are not very accurate.
hope all goes well for you x

How is everyone coping with the heat?

I'm really struggling today, can't drink enough to stay cool and feel light headed 🥴

monsteramunch · 05/09/2023 12:54

I'm so glad that most of our house move is done, genuinely don't know how I would have coped with it in heat like this!

Thankfully our new place is nice and cool which is such a relief as the last one was like being trapped in a hot car - as it was a ridiculously hot and humid teeny flat.

I have my next scan next week (35 weeks) so I'm guessing based on other people's, they'll likely estimate her weight? All very real now! I'm have a planned section at 39 weeks so not long to go at all, even if she's on time and not early!

@Smiffette

I know it's old school but could you try the old cold flannel on the forehead (and back of the neck) to see if it helps keep you cooler?

Sagittarius25 · 05/09/2023 12:56

@Smiffette put your feet in a bowl of cold water if you can, you can really control your body temp through your feet

thecatsthecats · 05/09/2023 12:57

I find energy drinks repulsive at the best of times, but I love glucose tablets, so have bought those.

Smiffette · 05/09/2023 12:58

@Sagittarius25 @monsteramunch good suggestions and yes can try that as I'm wfh.

Just laying on my bed for 5 mins with the fan on which is nice

Summer022 · 05/09/2023 16:28

Hey ladies. Hope you are all managing to keep cool in this heat!

How is everyone feeling about birth? I am due end of October so only 33 weeks on Thursday, but I’m starting to feel super nervous as a first timer with not knowing what to expect with birth. It doesn’t seem to matter how much research I do, I still really don’t know what to expect at all 😆 Just want him here safely so feeling a lot of worry and pressure even though that’s the last thing I need right now!! Xxx

peonygirl · 05/09/2023 16:59

@Summer022 Does your trust have Educational midwives? I have been offered a weekly chat with one and it is helping immensely. We will write a birth plan together and they run online antenatal classes which help with prep as well. I understand that you can never prep fully but at least you can equip yourself with information for all sorts of situations.

peonygirl · 05/09/2023 17:05

I had my 32w scan today and the baby is breech but no one is concerned. He is otherwise doing well, still at 55%, his predicted weight is on target and my doppler is normal. I only have issues with BP every time I am at the hospital so they want me to come back again next week to measure it again. The fact that I do it at home, at midwife's appointments, and at the pharmacy and it is always ok doesn't matter. It's a chore but ok...

Heath is killing me, I am wobbly on my feet and they are constantly swelling. I was advised to put a towel in the freezer and then wrap my feet in the towel. I will try this now as I need to cool down.

@monsteramunch good job on the move!! it is such a huge thing to do, I moved two weeks ago and I am glad I did. I am also grateful I did it before this spell of sunshine. I still need to unpack boxes and boxes of things though - I guess I am properly nesting :)

Same! First baby due early October. Starting to feel a bit apprehensive but really don't want my anxiety to build!

Sagittarius25 · 05/09/2023 19:18

@Summer022 also a first timer due end of Oct! Starting to get a bit apprehensive, I also keep thinking about the actual birth moment and how he will go from one second being in my belly to the next just being here in the world, and how wild that moment is probably going to feel!

Also when at the hospital yesterday for my 32 week growth scan I actually felt anxious but not because of the scan, I think it was being in the hospital environment again but that much closer to due date 😬 all feeling very real and trying not to over think it all!

FirstTimeMamaAtHalloween · 05/09/2023 19:42

@peonygirl I was transverse breech all the way up to this week (34 weeks) and all of a sudden the baby just flipped for the first time and now seems quite happy there, so it may still happen!

I’m suddenly so aware of how close birth could be and it is freeeeaking me out!

monsteramunch · 05/09/2023 19:47

Recently I feel very emotional about the idea of her not being attached to me any more once the cord is cut, which I know is absolutely ridiculous because then we get to enjoy her properly! Just feel so deeply bonded to her now that the idea of not being physically connected feels really strange. But I obviously can't wait for it too. Aah, hormones 😂

HVHT · 05/09/2023 22:40

@Summer022 i’m also first time and getting nervous, sort of intrigued as can’t even imagine what it’s like but equally apprehensive! I’ve been YouTubing antenatal classes from another hospital trust as mine don’t do them anymore.
Also struggling with heat - I’m in a 3rd floor flat so all the heat seems to rise - a good tip I got told is filling a hot water bottle with cold water (I leave jug in fridge for a bit before and fill it from that) then when I go to bed it cools the bed down before getting in/ keep it close overnight. Only thing is don’t use it for boiling water in future as the integrity might be effected.

OrionNebula · 06/09/2023 13:19

@monsteramunch I know exactly what you mean, I can't wait not to be pregnant any more and to meet baby but at the same time I do feel really emotional about her not being part of me any more. I was the same on my first pregnancy.

@peonygirl fingers crossed he flips! I have 36 week appointment on Tuesday so hoping my little girl has turned.

thecatsthecats · 06/09/2023 17:21

Gosh, I can't wait for him to be a separate person! I feel like we'll get on a lot better in person when he's not draining me of energy and booting me in the ribs for good measure.

I'd love to stop work now (32 weeks), spend 2 weeks sorting stuff out then hit FF to the birth.

Kind of feel like this also, as much as I'm starting to feel apprehensive, I need to keep reminding myself that birth = my body back and more comfort in myself and not feeling heavy and tired etc etc 😂

doeandfawn · 06/09/2023 18:47

@thecatsthecats I’m the same, at this point honestly how bad can childbirth be haha

Alexandra07 · 06/09/2023 20:39

I received an email today saying that I can't do the online hypnobirthing session suggested here because I am not local. I was disappointed!

Ss32 · 06/09/2023 22:20

I love that everyone is wanting to stay pregnant forever and I’m just desperate to get the baby out! I’m 37 weeks now and spending all my time drinking raspberry leaf tea, bouncing on the ball, eating curry and having sex 🤣 (also still working and parenting an almost threenager!). Being pregnant just feels like such a workout 24/7!

I ended up with an emergency section last time so had my consultant appointment yesterday and a plan to try VBAC but, as I don’t want to be induced, am booked in for an elective section at 41 weeks just in case! it all feels really real now!

Are people with older children feeling real mum guilt at the moment? My little one is so clingy and quite challenging at the moment and I’m feeling so bad that her life is changing so much! Of course, I know long term she will love having a baby sister but still feel guilty

Koalawhala · 07/09/2023 09:18

High five to those who's kids are back to school this week. It's been a lovely summer but I'm so ready for a rest!

@Ss32 my youngest has been quite clingy and wanting me to do things for her that she'd usually do herself, just as I've reached the stage where getting up/going upstairs (again) feels like a mammoth effort. I think she will struggle when the baby is here, and probably regress a bit into baby mode
