Empty 10mm sac at (what I thought) was 6 week. Help.

Hi all I’m so new to this.
im 43 and fell pregnant after trying for 3 months, this will be my 3rd. (2 teenagers)
I tested faint positive on 3rd just, the tests got very dark this week.
took myself off for a early internal scan yesterday as I have had brown discharge and some period like cramping and scared to hell of ectopic.
I was told there is a sac in the right place but no yolk or fetus. My sac measured 10mm which they said was 5 week.
im still having sore boobies, the worst back pain and sickness/headaches has just started yesterday.
really just after some reassurance as this 10 day wait is going to be so painful.

@ShowOfHands thank you I never knew that! 🫠 I asked about ectopic after my scan and they said it wasn’t that big now it’s made me think 🤔

@Chunkychips23 thank you 😘 yeah this lower back pain I’ve had right since implantation on and off. The cramping seems worse at night too 🤔

Update -
so I’m still having the brown discharge accompanied by lower back pain that seems to be radiating down my legs now. I’m having weird like shooting pains done either side of my pelvis.
none of this pain is too much for me to handle but it’s just uncomfortable.
the brown discharge is only there when I wee. It goes in the toilet bowl and I feel a sense of pressure release when it does.
im not in enough pain to call EPU or losing enough blood at the min.
still holding on to hope although I am also accepting the inevitable now. 💜. Xxx

Update -
woke up this morning as though nothing has happened.
no brown discharge no hint of a cramp or back ache.
boobs really sore and swollen and sickly feeling.
done a test and was a dye stealerX not sure that means anything. I’ll attached a pic of my recent tests.

Brown blood typically tends to be old blood. Pain at the sides also tends to be the uterus stretching to accommodate.

I was getting dye stealers with my missed miscarriage. Unfortunately it’s not an indication of viability.

Its just such a horrible situation having to wait and so many unknowns :( Holding out hope for you xx

It’s a hard time and just a waiting game. Try to take your mind off it because there is nothing you or anyone can do to change the outcome. I don’t know if that makes you feel better or worse but it definitely helped me at the time. It’s really hard but keep optimistic!

@Wen19 just came out of my rescan appointment. One little bean with a strong heartbeat :) I’m so happy.

Update - I called EPU yesterday for some advice on what happened at the weekend, they didn’t call me back but just called me this morning.
the brown stuff is still there on my pad and when I wipe.
no pains anymore though.
they said I could have either lost the baby at the weekend when I was having the bad pains or it’s all ok. And they will see me next Monday for my scan. 😣
I didn’t have any red blood at all and there did t seem enough to warrant a miscarriage 🤷🏻‍♀️ I’m so confused. X

obviously every situation is different, but I wondered if this information might be comforting for you…

when I had my scan yesterday the sonographer asked whether I had experienced any brown spotting. I said I hadn’t and her reaction was “I’m very surprised. There is a significant area of implantation bleed which is nothing to worry about, but normally you would have started to notice some brown spotting as the old blood comes away.” She’s warned that I will almost certainly experience some in the coming weeks and that I shouldn’t be worried unless there is red blood.

I know our first visits to EPU were for similar reasons, so hopefully that’s reassuring as a possible explanation :)

This is similar to my eldest. Exactly like you OP I didn’t have a yolk or fetal pole until gone 7 weeks - lots of brown spotting, lots of pain and cramps - she’s 16 now. Good like. Just a waiting game I’m afraid

@CarolynKnappShappy aw really? The cramps have subsided now. But still having the brown here and there. That’s positive 💜 thank you. Just now trying to keep busy till next mon. Then I’ll be dreading it when it comes 😣

@Ems1992 dont be scared. I have had a d&c before back in 1999 when I was 19. You’ll be asleep through it 😘 and you will be all cleaned out ready for a new cycle 😘 xx

ive woke up this morning to no brown discharge but also no sore boobs 🙃 this is the first morning since I found out I was pregnant they havnt hurt. Slightly worried given the situation but I’ve read hormones can go up and down so I’ll see what tmro brings. Xx

woke up to sore boobs again and feeling travel sick.
had no symptoms what so ever yesterday I was worried sick.

Hi just an update -
I have my scan tmro I’m more nervous than I’ve ever been 😣
my bf asked me if I was a excited last night for Monday - I burst out crying and said I’d rather wait another week 🥺
he is adamant everything’s okay.
move had no brown discharge at all since last wed, no lower back pain (I have had some back pain- mid back pain) no bad cramps other than wind. Nausea is getting worse now to the point I’m having to lay down when it happens. And my boobs are still sore, metal taste in mouth and the most vivid of dreams, still also very tired.
surly my body can’t be this cruel to have me feel like this while something is wrong. 😣🫣

Early pregnancy is so so tough. I was so envious of people who went through those weeks with no concerns. How tomorrow goes well.

Really hope all goes well tomorrow @Wen19. I have an early scan at 12.25 after a pink bleed early hours of Thurs morning and brown since. Am terrified. The next two hours will be so long. Don't know what to do with myself

@Marchbug aw honey! I’m sending all my love and hope for you. How far along are you? We’re there cramps with the bleed? It’s awful. I wish I’d never gone for a early scan. I really don’t want to go tmro I’d rather just wait till 12 week now and hang on to what ever is inside me xx

@Wen19 I'm at the point I have no idea, I feel like I can't work out if I have symptoms of pregnancy or symptoms of loss as my head is just too panicky! This is an early scan I'd booked for Wednesday at 7weeks, managed to bring it forward to today after bleed so hopefully can tell me something and not just add to stress and worry!

I think yours sounds positive was just that bit too early and I will keep everything crossed for you
