@Daisy155 my Hb was 89 and my ferritin was 6 so I asked for an iron infusion and my doctor agreed and I already feel sooo much better.

@BCxx BMI categories aren't valid in pregnancy so don't stress about it.

@unluckyinlife thinking of you, hope you and baby are ok and getting all the care and support you need x

BCxx · 11/07/2023 18:36

@BusyBushBaby I didn’t think so, was quite surprised it was even considered when there’s an almost full grown baby in there 🙈

BCxx · 11/07/2023 18:39

@sally16 it seems so daft. Given the baby comes out and can be well over half a stone itself (without placenta, extra blood etc) so how is that included in our weight like you’ve just been eating too much?! 😂

@Daisy155 yeah I wasn’t sure there was any need to tell me or calculate a bmi when there’s an obvious second person on the scales with me 🙈 Probably just a bit sensitive just now 😂

HRSC · 11/07/2023 19:03

@BCxx It doesn’t seem to make much sense to check your bmi during pregnancy?! 🤷‍♀️ I would probably just ignore it… I checked mine on the nhs website and it came up as 25 which said overweight too, but at my last appointment, 2wks ago, my doctor said my weight was fine.

@unluckyinlife I hope everything is ok with you and the baby. 🤞

I have been so exhausted today and the only things I’ve managed to do is go to The dentist and do 1 load of laundry. Slept or dozed most of the afternoon and I didn’t even sleep that badly last night. Having to get some energy to cook dinner feels like it might be beyond me. Is this normal to be this tired after not really doing anything?! It would be quite nice to have some energy to do something!

DomesticElf · 11/07/2023 21:15

I dont think the whole BMI thing is applicable in pregnancy. To be honest, no one weighed me throughout either of my pregnancies, and I just stopped weighing myself this time because I know it will come off just like it did the last time. @BCxx just ignore that big of consultation.

airmaxJ · 11/07/2023 22:49

I was 10 stone 5 at the beginning 5,5 now 14 stone , 6 I feel heavy on my thighs mainly but everyone says I look good and healthy so I don't know if I'm too big or not x

Spiralout · 12/07/2023 07:05

@HRSC I feel you with the tiredness! I find it can vary so much for no real reason! I had a day at the weekend where I hadn’t done much more than hoovering and a short dog walk and needed a three hour middle of the day nap and still slept 10 hours at night! I’ve resolved to try to take what I can and be led by my body! The most important bit is getting some sleep!

DomesticElf · 12/07/2023 11:04

TMI warning.
I've just been to the loo and I am a little worried my waters are leaking..?

Last time my waters broke at 4am movie style while I was in bed (I would strongly advise puppy pads under the bedsheets once term. Just sayin' ), so not much to compare to.

It could be urine.. nice but it felt a bit too drippy, for the lack of better word. Now on the sofa.

Recoba · 12/07/2023 11:25

@DomesticElf could it be an increase in vaginal discharge? I've noticed over the last week or two that my discharge has really increased. Hope you're feeling okay.

DomesticElf · 12/07/2023 11:43

@Recoba hopefully it's just discharge, it was just too watery. Plus straining on the loo doesn't help with trying to figure out what's what (TMI again!)

DomesticElf · 12/07/2023 12:15

If anything, that will finally get me packing my hospital bag, just in case.

I've got the same, I have a hideous cold/cough lurg and I can feel fluid just dribbling out esp when coughing. woke up this morning and there was a fair size watery wet patch in my pants that had leaked onto the bed 😳 can't smell anything anyway due to stuffed up nose but hoping it's just pee or an increase in watery discharge now I'm getting nearer to the end.

DomesticElf · 12/07/2023 13:47

@cococat88 are you going to call assessment unit or wait and see for now?
I am seeing how today goes, and if I get any more of that watery stuff, I might give them a call.

I hope your lurgy gets better soon. It's extra miserable experience at this stage in pregnancy.

BCxx · 12/07/2023 14:41

@DomesticElf totally TMI but on here anything goes 😂 I’ve been having the same most of the third trimester.. I thought it was discharge but think it’s actually my bladder leaking now. I’ve worked out it happens most often first thing in the morning so my bladder has been properly full. Throughout the rest of the day I’m emptying my bladder for every tiny drop that’s in it or I feel like I’m going to burst but obviously last longer during the night then it’s as if I go, stand up or go back to bed and my bladder hasn’t fully emptied due to being so squashed then the rest will just leak out. It’s not even like I have any awareness over it or can stop it happening and I didn’t have a vaginal birth last time which I’d imagine would have a bigger impact on your pelvic floor 🤷🏻‍♀️ I now just put a pad on before bed and allow it to happen 🙄 pretty sure it will stop after baby is out of there!

BCxx · 12/07/2023 14:42

Did we have any update from @unluckyinlife ? Hope things are okay and it wasn’t anything major 🤞🏻

DomesticElf · 12/07/2023 15:07

@BCxx that's probably what it is. Pregnancy is glam, isn't it 😂

I'm gonna wait and monitor things. I have a feeling its babies head pressing on my bladder and making me dribble as during the day have been peeing little and often perhaps my pelvic floor is not as strong as it could be lol and that along with constant coughing and sneezing = 💦 hopefully the same goes with you, its so hard to tell the difference between different leaks at this stage 😆

LS888 · 12/07/2023 15:56

I am also getting the same. Thought it was just watery discharge or sweat with the hot weather and extra weight 🥵 but now it has cooled down I’m still getting it. Find that if I sit on the toilet for a bit longer than I need to there is a bit more of a dribble (sorry if TMI). So now think it’s urine 🙈 wearing a pad most days now and definitely overnight.

DomesticElf · 12/07/2023 17:57

That's very reassuring to read there are quite few of us dribbling 💦

unluckyinlife · 12/07/2023 18:38

I'm sorry I haven't been on to update, I've been feeling all over the place for the last few days. It appears baby is attempting to make an early arrival. I'm on lots of meds to prepare myself and baby for birth. I've been told as long as I'm not lifting anything and I get no more red blood I can stay home as I haven't dilated any further since my second visit. It looks like I'll have at least twice weekly monitoring but unless baby gets distressed or my water breaks they're not going to intervene.

I'm absolutely desperate to see my family in London on the 23rd but it looks like that might be cancelled which I'm devastated about. My consultant is making the decision with my team on Sunday.

Baby is still measuring around 33+5 so they want to try to avoid intervention until at least 35 weeks but ideally 37.

I still think if baby is okay I'm going to try and labour naturally.

My husband is absolutely terrified as he has no choice but to work away week days until baby comes but he has asked his family to be on standby and his brother is staying at ours 4 nights a week when he's away to do school runs etc as he works from home.

I'm just thankful for every day baby is healthy, but have now got so much anxiety that this pregnancy might not end with a baby. My doctors think he or she is as happy and healthy as can be, so I'm being massively unreasonable. Xx

BCxx · 12/07/2023 19:28

@unluckyinlife what a scary week for you! Did you manage to get childcare/someone to come and help or did you have to take them in? Your odds are really good now even if you were to deliver today so fingers crossed all will be fine. Must just be so worrying not knowing when it’s going to happen though. We were just saying last week about baby’s like Scarlett Moffat’s who were born at 35 weeks and could be taken home without any specialist care. Hopefully you’ll make it to 37 weeks though and baby won’t make any more attempts at arriving just now 🤞🏻

Rowanandremy · 12/07/2023 20:07

@unluckyinlife such a worrying time
for you and your husband, especially with him having to work away. It’s really good that you are able to be at home and that you are on medication just in case and it seems as though everyone is on the ball with your care. I would not at all say that your fears or anxieties are unreasonable, it’s completely normal to be worried about your baby coming earlier than you’d hope and I would say instead that it’s your parental need to have them here safe and well that fuels that anxiety. It is a very good sign that your doctors are happy that he or she is happy and healthy, that they aren’t wanting to intervene is a great sign as is the fact that they are asking for monitoring twice a week as a precaution. I really hope that baby stays content and you get to 37 weeks.

Yesterday I had a surprise call from the hospital calling me in for a scan because they had a cancellation, this is after telling me they wouldn’t scan me last week. We went and baby is measuring around 6lb 15oz, predicted weight for a full term birth is 8lbs give or take so now they aren’t worried that he’s measuring ahead. Everything looks good with him and he’s definitely head down and not happy with being prodded several times in the head during the scan - can’t blame him as it wasn’t very comfortable for me either 😂 dw is getting a bit jittery now as my bump has dropped today and I’m getting some mild cramping - which I had for 10 days with dd so I’m not overly excited yet 😂

unluckyinlife · 12/07/2023 20:08

@BCxx thank you for your kindness. With my DH being away the support and company of everyone in this birth group have been so invaluable to me.

My brother in law came over and kept them busy for thr day while I was getting checked. When I went to meet them after the hosptial on the way home they had been swimming@ after school and the kids had such a good day.

I'm hoping baby behaves and arrives nearer its due date but who knows 😊 I didn't realise about her baby being born early! I'm off to go and read to make myself feel better now 😌 xx

BMK · 12/07/2023 21:32

@unluckyinlife we're so delighted that it's all good! I know obviously you're a bit terrified baby might try debut before 35 weeks but try not to think like that as you were likely just doing too much and if you rest more and not lift children!! S/he should stay put. My Mum had the same and was basically ordered to bed and all was fine with natural delivery with me. However that isnso very cute about your BIL!*that is so nice!! Well obviously you need someone but teh fact it's a guy and not from your side of family!!
@Rowanandremy it's funny that your wife is actually so focused on a Leo as literally that is my thinking!*I've always wanted one and am counting down days until July 21st to make sure any debut is in Leo time!!!
@BCxx honestly if that midwife got me not even on a bad day but well that comment might just press my buttons enough to actually complain or raise it as being TOTALLY inappropriate. Wow- it's not like women don't have jobs, childcare, children, managing homes, minding themselves and the baby, trying to eat well and probably feed everyone else and do all the other things that go unnoticed-whilst exhausted and uncomfortable and any other health issues we might have either before or due to the effects of pregnancy-apart from.looking and feeling huge and for me anyway v unattractive..- a midwife then thinks telling you that you're weight as it appears on a scales whilst pregnant puts you as obese!!!*Aaaaaggggghhhhhhhhh! Oh my goodness!!!! There's only a half stone baby and possibly a half stone placenta and all the extra blood (as you correctly pointed out,in there!) It's unprofessional to even address BMI but also downright inappropriate. Imagine if the mother was self conscious or struggling with previous weight issues or etc.
Ok that's my rant over.
Also having said to you and whomever mentioned BH,that I haven't had them: I now have: felt a few whopper/sharp contractions at different stages in last 2-3 days and said to my OH (who is a paramedic) and he said oh they're just BH!*I was like how do you know and eh said without a pattern/their being frequent and repeating etc that they're just getting ready etc BH ones. I felt like a total dummie!

BCxx · 12/07/2023 21:52

@unluckyinlife we’re all rooting for her/him to stay put for now.. keep us updated with your checks but it sounds like they’re going to keep a close eye on you anyway so that’s a good thing!

@BMK haha it was one of those things that you’re so taken aback by you’re not sure what to say so you just go away and let it eat away at you instead 😂 I don’t think it was necessarily her fault as she’s obviously being asked to put in my BMI but as I got on the scales I did say ‘oh I don’t want to know’ and she proceeded to read it out then tell me my BMI. I’ll weigh myself right at the end as I did the last time, purely to be able to know what my starting figure is 🙈 but knowing how heavy I am right now certainly isn’t going to make me feel any better about the fact walking/getting up/sleeping is all a bit of a struggle right now!
