@Awkwardusername good luck with your elcs! I've got mine on the 3rd May and it feels really sureal that we'll definitely have a baby in a fortnight. How are you feeling about it?

Does anyone else's back absolutely kill? I brought some shopping in the other day and now my back is aching all the time 😣

My ELCS is also May 3 🎉

OptimusPrime31 · 17/04/2023 07:27

No way! Our babies will forever share a birthday 🥳 ❤️

2bm · 17/04/2023 09:36

Found you!

37+5 today and the plan is to actually start preparing for a baby as we currently have nothing ready. So the plan is to wash baby clothes and start packing hospital bags today and wash pram etc (bought second hand) tomorrow.

I’ve been having Braxton hicks for weeks but they’ve really increased these last few days and I’m having a lot of strong period pains but nothing that feels like a contraction so I think it’s just all part of getting towards the end of pregnancy.
My elcs is booked for April 26th so in 9 days!!! Can’t quite get my head around how soon it is!

Jammiedodger12 · 17/04/2023 11:23

Just back from 36 week scan to check it baby is still breech - Its turned head down which is good. But the measurements are showing slow growth from last measurements (but consultant said it could be because breech measurement scans can be quite 'off'). So back for another scan in 2 weeks to check measurements again! So fingers crossed!!

Anyone had anything similar?

raffika · 17/04/2023 12:32

@OptimusPrime31 and @wintersun21 another 3 May CS baby here!

My back is killing me today, I feel
like I’m 102 🤣 it’s just come from
nowhere!

AlwaysTryingToHelp · 17/04/2023 14:35

@Jammiedodger12 I had a growth scan on Friday at 34+6 and they had said he is showing slow growth from my previous scan 5 weeks prior, they have also said he is quite small.
I am now having to have weekly scans, with one this Friday and one the Friday after. After my scan at 36+6 they have had they will assess the growth and size and make a decision if I need to be induced early, which I am devastated about but trying not to think too much about it and hoping that he will grow in the next two weeks!

@AlwaysTryingToHelp thanks for the reply - I am hoping that it is just because the scan was of breach presentation. I had one at 30 weeks and it was 50th percentile (head down), one at 34 weeks and it was 75th percentile (breech) and today at 36 weeks and its 60th percentile (head down).

Fingers crossed baby grows in the next two week and you can avoid an induction.

Can anyone recommend a cot bed and chest of drawer set please. Like many of you the 4th bedroom is my office/dressing room atm so not having it as baby room yet and baby will be in a crib next to me, but I need a chest of drawers to put in the room for all baby things. And I thought I may aswell get the cot as a set as I don't want mismatched furniture. Just won't set the cot up yet until we are ready.

Some mums have said they have got ikea chest of drawers and whilst there's quite a few options I want a cot bed not just cot, so not sure they would match if I got a cot from somewhere else ( eventhough I will be getting white)

TisforTucan · 17/04/2023 23:24

@2bm Mine is the 27th! It's gone crazy fast hasn't it? I am the same as you getting pains and cramps, I'm paranoid baby will arrive on it's own so trying to take it easy.

raffika · 18/04/2023 03:05

@tigerlily0 I really wanted the M&P Oxford set - cot bed, mattress and drawers/changing unit, but ultimately I couldn’t bring myself to spend £1300 on it when I’m about to have an extended absence from work. There are other M&P sets, but none I liked nearly as much.

Instead, I bought the IKEA Hemnes tall drawers and a white cot bed with mattress and drawer underneath from Oh Baby for about £550. They’re both white and don’t “match” but they look fine side by side.

Leostratts · 18/04/2023 03:33

@tigerlily0 I really recommend Tutti Bambini! We have a cot and drawer set in our toddler room and now a cot and drawer set in baby room. They have so many nice styles and half the price of furniture sets from other places. Really good quality too, we’re so happy with both the sets we have from there - both are cotbeds. We have the white and grey rio set in toddlers room and the oak Moderna set in new baby room :)

tigerlily0 · 18/04/2023 07:34

@raffika for my other 2 children (7 and 9 now) we had a £1200 M&S solid oak full set. It was amazing but as this is the third and final child I can't justify it again! I have had ppl tell me to get ikea chest of drawers and get a cot bed from elsewhere- wasn't sure if it looked mismatched, glad to know it doesn't.

@Leostratts those are the ones I have seen but wasn't sure on the quality of them. They do look nice though and sturdy. Are the chest of drawers a good size ?

tigerlily0 · 18/04/2023 07:34

M&P not M&S!

tiantian1005 · 18/04/2023 12:25

Anyone else stressed about baby not wanting to come out after due date? I am debating whether I should accept induction at 40 or 41 weeks, so paranoid about stillbirth risk increasing post due date.

Janch13 · 18/04/2023 12:37

@tiantian1005 Where are you seeing this? As far as I am aware stillbirth rate doesn’t dramatically increase? In fact UK is one of the only countries that calculates pregnancy in this way with the “Due date” being the holy grail, in France they have “due month” because really it’s very normal for the baby to come anytime between 38-42 weeks. Do you have some pregnancy complication that means they’d want to induce you at 40 weeks as in my experience this isn’t standard practice and you’d not be booked in until 7-10 days after your due date. Please don’t worry x

TheBeesKnee · 18/04/2023 15:00

I had my last meeting with the consultant this morning. Baby's eviction notice has been issued for 39 weeks exactly, on 3 May.

I didn't want an induction but I think I've made peace with it as it's for the best. The baby is 90th centile.

My only thing now though is that the induction ward is shared, and I can't leave once I've been checked in and started. I was really hoping for some privacy - I'm hoping that you go to a separate room for procedures at least?

IWillBeWaxingAnOwl · 18/04/2023 16:58

@tiantian1005 my healthboard policy is to "consider" induction from 10 days over due. But it's all about looking at risk and benefits - ask at each stage what the risk is to induction, the benefits, the risk of doing nothing, and benefits

Leostratts · 18/04/2023 19:06

@tigerlily0 Yes, good quality in my opinion! The drawers are big and deep like any normal drawers. And the top part is big and we can fit a big changing matt on it :)

Leostratts · 18/04/2023 19:08

@tiantian1005 I don’t think there’s any risk going over due date unless there are health conditions/complications etc, for example gestational diabetes and the like. I’m a high risk pregnancy from my last one and my consultant said last week as long as everything remains as is then she’s happy for me to go past due date towards 42 weeks. She even said she feels induction isn’t needed unnecessarily and I don’t even have to have the sweeps after my due date if I don’t want to. It might be worth speaking to your midwife about your worries though - this is just my experience and advice but everyone’s backgrounds and circumstances are different!

Leostratts · 18/04/2023 20:08

Has anyone noticed if their bump has dropped?

I’m 38 weeks on Thursday - my baby is very active anyway but today even more so. I now am getting funny feelings in my vagina and my hip pain is considerably less today. I think maybe baby has dropped lower towards birth canal? I didn’t get to this stage last time so all new feelings to me.

wintersun21 · 18/04/2023 20:13

@Leostratts yes definitely! My baby is breech though so I'm just hoping he can hold out until my c section. But I'm feeling movements really lowdown from him wiggling which is so weird

TisforTucan · 18/04/2023 21:27

Anyone else experiencing bladder pain? Babies head has been positioned in my pelvis all day today, I've had sharp cystitis type pains and back pain and I can feel the head of a hard lump 🤣

It's horrible 😭, I never had it with my other 2 babies as constant as this.

I was in hospital a couple of weeks ago for monitoring due to reduced movements. I was in a shared room and the other 3 ladies were all having inductions. Curtains were just pullsd round their bed for any procedures 😕

Me! Since the weekend baby seems to have taken great joy in jamming his head right down next to my bladder. Constantly uncomfortable and painful if I have to stand and walk anywhere. Have spent the last 3 days in bed hoping he moves but so far seems quite happy. I am 35+1 today, so ages to go like this potentially 😭😭
