@38andtrying congratulations on your scan! What a surprise to see twins 😊

Katiec1 · 05/04/2023 18:27

Happy to be joining the thread! 3rd pregnancy (4th baby all going well)
Had a private scan yesterday and dates are correct, 7w5d. Sonographer says all looks good and in the correct place, measuring good and heartbeat 149.
Also told I have a very active right ovary whatever that means?!

Have my booking appointment tomorrow - even though I’m a doctor and know what is going to happen so so nervous 🫣

ExcitedandNervousC1 · 05/04/2023 21:48

Congratulations @Katiec1 ! Amazing to have the first scan over with !

@medicmumma good luck for tomorrow!!

Mummypig23 · 06/04/2023 08:47

Anybody got any positive experiences with cyclizine? My morning sickness is horrendous. I’m throwing up 6-10 times a day round the clock - wakes me up overnight. Doctor has given me cyclizine because they’re worried about dehydration. I can’t find anything I want to drink, everything either makes me sick or gives a horrid taste in my mouth. How long did it take to work for people?

Chellooo · 06/04/2023 08:52

@Mummypig23 I've been taking them for a week now and they don't seem to have made a real difference unfortunately. I'm still very nauseous and throwing up. I'm 9+5 so am just hoping the sickness wears off naturally now

NatGee · 06/04/2023 08:58

@Katiec1 welcome, thats a lovely picture of your bub. Maybe they mean that your ovary has a lot of immature eggs still? not sure, just an idea

@Mummypig23 so sorry to hear youre struggling. I think a lot of us have had pretty horrific nausea and some of us have actually been sick regularly. really hope it gets better for you soon x

flowerlover1990 · 06/04/2023 09:10

Nausea devil has taken full hold of me 😢 I've given in and phoned the doctors and awaiting a prescription asap. Praying it makes me feel better as I'm struggling to function. Hope you are all doing ok?

flowerlover1990 · 06/04/2023 09:12

@Mummypig23 You have my sympathy. I have never felt so ill in my whole life. I'm on annual leave this week and it's been a complete write off. I can't even function, the nausea and retching is so bad. I've phoned the doctors this morning and getting a prescription asap. Definitely have a chat with your doctor, get well soon.

Spareincoming · 06/04/2023 09:57

@Mummypig23 it kicked in quickly for me but my Dr did say it was a marmite medication - it either hits the spot or doesn’t. Both the midwife and the Dr have said there are alternatives if it isn’t working!

FlyingHighFlyingLow · 06/04/2023 10:19

Past 2 days the nausea has really really kicked in to a whole new level for me too. Not actually being sick but I just retch constantly and the sight of all food bar toast is just turning my stomach. Usually got such a sweet tooth but I can't stand anything remotely sweet. I'm incredibly thirsty, but every time I drink I feel queasy, and everything tastes of metal. Water and fizzy drinks are worst so I'm on squash.

Fairylight102 · 06/04/2023 10:54

Sorry so many of us are suffering! This morning I vomited for the first time after 5 days of horrendous all-day nausea/headache. As unpleasant as it is to be sick, it was actually sort of a relief.

I spoke to my GP yesterday and she suggested I could consider anti-sickness medication if it continues but (and I know this is probably really stupid and not rational) I’m so nervous about taking any medication during pregnancy just in case. I had a miscarriage previously so I think that’s made me extra cautious. If anyone has any wise word that would snap me out of this mindset that would be much appreciated!

ExcitedandNervousC1 · 06/04/2023 11:13

My nausea is pretty bad this morning! Such a crazy part of being a woman and being in meetings trying not to be sick whilst nobody else knows! I'm grateful for it today though as my 8 week scan is tomorrow and am very very nervous

bakugo · 06/04/2023 11:19

I've started to wear the sickness wrists bands, they do seem to help me. Along with peppermint gum!

NatGee · 06/04/2023 11:33

@ExcitedandNervousC1 oh ! i hope it goes well for you tomorrow, im sure youre excited :)

flowerlover1990 · 06/04/2023 11:37

@Fairylight102 I feel exactly like this too. I know the GP wouldn't prescribe anything that would hurt the baby but it makes me feel so so nervous. My prescription is ready to collect...so my OH will collect later for me. I figured it will be useful to have (just in case!) I need to go back to work next week and have no idea how I'll function feeling like this.

@ExcitedandNervousC1 sounds like you are stronger than me. Having to cope in meetings whilst you feel so ill sounds so rough. Bless you. I think I'll be avoiding the office as much as I can for the coming weeks 🫠

NatGee · 06/04/2023 11:38

@flowerlover1990 make sure you always read the label, regardless of what the doc says. you can then make your own decision :)

flowerlover1990 · 06/04/2023 11:40

@NatGee thank you. I definitely will and weigh it all up before I take anything. Hope you're doing ok too!

Mldn · 06/04/2023 11:46

I salute everybody managing to work. I didn’t get out of bed until 930 this morning & already resisting the urge to go back to bed. The exhaustion is no joke 😴

Fairylight102 · 06/04/2023 12:21

@flowerlover1990 Thank you! Hope you feel a bit better soon

ExcitedandNervousC1 · 06/04/2023 12:55

@NatGee more nervous than excited given my history but feeling different this time so just praying to hear the heartbeat 💓

LilmissCa · 06/04/2023 13:06

@Fairylight102 I'm on anti sickness too. This is my 2nd HG pregnancy (3altogether 1st I was fine)
Just wanted to reassure you a bit as I was like you in my last pregnancy worrying so much about taking tablets. I weighed it up to the mental health and physical well being of me.. I needed to not be constantly sick in order to survive this pregnancy and be a stable home for the baby until she arrived. I was in hospital twice in the last pregnancy due to severe dehydration, then had trial and error of drugs to find out what worked.
This pregnancy I started the meds earlier, altho I still am currently working from my bed I am no where near as sick I was at this stage in my last pregnancy. Praying it doesn't get worse.
The worry of taking meds doesn't fully go away but I know it's something I need to do right now in order for us both to survive this pregnancy & to be some form of a mum to my 2 other kids.

LilmissCa · 06/04/2023 13:09

@Mummypig23 go back to your doc, there are other alternatives to cyclizine, it didn't work for me. Left me extremely exhausted and still being sick.
Be careful not to get dehydrated, did the doc check your ketones?

Fairylight102 · 06/04/2023 13:10

@LilmissCa Thank you. You’re absolutely right about weighing up the mental and wellbeing impacts of constant sickness.

I’m doing slightly better today, but going to monitor how things go the next week or so.

Mldn · 06/04/2023 13:39

Has anybody had a UTI in pregnancy? I haven’t had one in years. But feel like I have one now. Since I woke up today I’ve need to wee but every time I go only a little comes out & the need to urinate is there constantly! I’ve called the GO which was useless & now we are heading into the bank hol weekend I feel concerned & rubbish 😩
