@38andtrying

Wow! Amazing news, I pray they both progress for you.

bakugo · 05/04/2023 11:11

I think the nausea may have finally hit me today. Feeling very sick :(
I am 7+ weeks

Spareincoming · 05/04/2023 11:29

Tried to post yesterday but Mumsnet didn’t love me and kept refreshing…

10 weeks today and for the last 4 days I’ve been symptomless. I’m really trying not to be anxious about what that could mean as my scan is still over 3 weeks away.
I have my private nipt blood test tomorrow; trying to focus on the fact that I decided on No scan because I’m working away and DH couldn’t be here. And right now a scan would be reassuring. The blood test results have a 3 day turn around but Easter is going to stuff that up - I’d not even considered Easter when I booked.

I am still ridiculously tired but that could have more to do with my Vit D and iron deficiencies.

I think because I’ve no symptoms my mind is running riot. Because I can’t remember when they disappeared last time either.

I know this sounds awful because of the journey it’s taken to get here but I hate being pregnant.

Mldn · 05/04/2023 11:49

@38andtrying ahh lovely news that there are 3 babies! Fingers crossed they both continue to progress! Was this your first scan?

I just had my booking in appointment. Took about 90 mins & was all good. She said I may have an infection but nothing to worry about & they’ll contact me if so.

She said the bloods taken at your booking in aren’t used for the combined scan, they take bloods at the 12 week scan that are used for that. The bloods taken today rule check me for the usual stuff & also blood type etc.

She also booked in my 16 week appointment!

Still not feeling pregnant other than very sleepy!

Mldn · 05/04/2023 11:51

@38andtrying TWO babies. Not three!! Sorry typo 😅

ExcitedandNervousC1 · 05/04/2023 11:54

@38andtrying congrats on a great scan! Wow that must have been such a surprise! Delighted for you and such a confidence boost to all with changing/reducing symptoms!

Hope you take the weekend to celebrate this milestone!

ExcitedandNervousC1 · 05/04/2023 11:56

Do twins run in your family?

38andtrying · 05/04/2023 11:58

@Mldn @ExcitedandNervousC1 thank you so much, yes absolutely if I have limited symptoms and I'm currently pregnant with twins that's a good sign for everyone else, my doctor told me symptoms genuinely aren't a predictor of a healthy pregnancy, so I'm now more content with that, hope it can put your mind at ease @ExcitedandNervousC1 for Friday, with twins my symptoms should defo be stronger if symptoms were at all meaningful

38andtrying · 05/04/2023 11:59

@ExcitedandNervousC1 on my mummy's side there are twins in her family, but I really didn't think twins ran on my family, it's just her uncle had twins that I know of

Fairylight102 · 05/04/2023 12:02

@38andtrying That’s amazing! Fingers crossed for your twins xx

NatGee · 05/04/2023 12:49

@38andtrying wow what a surprise, two buns in the oven!! Are you pleased, hope you are, how reassuring to know all is well, hope both babies are viable

omgwth · 05/04/2023 13:03

@38andtrying that's wonderful news!

Runnergirl1 · 05/04/2023 13:19

@38andtrying wow, twins. Congratulations x

NatGee · 05/04/2023 13:54

Had my acupuncture appointment earlier today. To say I was underwhelmed is somewhat of an understatement. Not only did my nausea linger (least of my disappointments) but I didn't feel any of the things she said I would? Almost made it sound like it would feel great and transcendental. It did not. One of the needles actually hurt so i had to ask her to remove it.

I booked another one just to rule out an unlucky first session, but is it at all possible that I'd have a different experience with another practitioner, or do some people just not enjoy acupuncture?

anna2101 · 05/04/2023 14:04

@NatGee I don't know about nausea specific acupuncture but I had acupuncture before for other reasons and as far as it was explained to me - the actual session is not meant to be an enjoyable experience - in fact, they would purposefully move the needle in circles to the point of you 'feeling jt' - ie experiencing some sort of pain. It is after the session (or sometimes sessions) that you are meant to feel the results. Again that's for the types of sessions I've been to.

SnookyPook · 05/04/2023 14:06

@38andtrying oh wow! And you had no idea?! Was this your 12wk scan? You've got me worried now - I assumed if it was a multiple pregnancy I'd have had much stronger symptoms.. now you've opened up a whole new world of possibilities!! Haha.

Hope all keeps going well for you and that twin 2 gets stronger. So glad that all was looking ok at least after your worries earlier.

DollyGx · 05/04/2023 14:26

@38andtrying aw wow! Fingers crossed for 2 healthy babies 🤞🏼🥰🥰

38andtrying · 05/04/2023 14:33

I went for an 8 week scan at EPU and I had no idea, baby b is in a really small gestational sac and although heartbeat is good, 150 at 7w+4 measuring from what ive read small gest sac doesnt have great outcomes, it is really 50/50, i wonder has anyone else been in this situation? is there like a twins section on mumsnet?

baby A looks spot on, measuring 8w+2 which is exact and heartbeat 169 which she said was very good.

EPU scan light years difference from private scan, they give you heartbeat rate whereas private only confirms heartbeat, she checked me for ages too to make sure all else looks ok.

I am back next Friday to check on progress, i am preparing myself for baby b to be gone :( but hoping as well for a miracle, i also obv really want baby A to be ok as i am not out of the woods there either although its looks great so far

MeganC104 · 05/04/2023 14:42

@38andtrying congratulations on twins. Hope everything goes well for you.

I threw up a lot this morning. That my only update. 😩

LittleBeanie · 05/04/2023 15:43

@38andtrying I’m so glad to hear your scan went well! Keeping everything crossed for both twins ♥️

Journey2022 · 05/04/2023 15:47

@38andtrying wow congrats on the 2 babies!! Was this your first scan? Or had you had a scab previously and both wernt detected?

Fingers crossed your scan next week goes okay!! Keep us updated!

38andtrying · 05/04/2023 16:29

@Journey2022 I had a previous scan at 6w+5, she specifically said she was checking for multiples and it went ubdetected, that was an abdominal, today's was an internal, I was so shocked lol

Spareincoming · 05/04/2023 16:29

@38andtrying Wow, keeping everything crossed for you!

I’ve just had to reschedule my NIPT fortunately I’ve been able to get an appointment for the same time next week when I’m back down here for work.
My client for tomorrow is looking likely to reschedule due to the weather too.
It does mean I can go home tonight instead of tomorrow though; hurrah!

NatGee · 05/04/2023 17:22

@anna2101 thanks for sharing your experience. The practitioner I saw specifically said there should be no pain. How interesting. And no, i didn't expect the session to be nausea specific, not was it presented in that way. I booked it because i had always wanted to try it and my curiosity was further piqued when a few ladies reported experiencing an easing of their symptoms. That would have definitely have been a bonus but I certainly didn't go in expecting it necessarily. What I did think is that it would have been more enjoyable than it was. In any case, ill give it another stab.

anna2101 · 05/04/2023 17:58

@NatGee ah I see! It's interesting how different practitioners have different approaches. I assumed it was nausea / morning sickness specific since that seemed to be the reason others have gone in the chat, but Im sure there are lots of other benefits it could bring. Hope the second time is better !
