@strawberrysummer19 @KizboBaggins we found putting the baby on our front facing inwards helps relive the stomach. Or holding them like this - belly hold www.mabelandmoxie.com/The+Best+Ways+To+Hold+Your+Baby/articles/haix6nqeF-K/Belly+Hold

strawberrysummer19 · 08/08/2022 08:43

@ChinChilly yes I think it's a combination between active sleep.

@DayToNight ah I remember this position with my first

Thing is last night she was awake but not crying but yawning and it's like she wouldn't give in and letting out noises as if she was uncomfortable
So hard because hate thinking she's so uncomfortable

Each day is different though and as I say it's only been since Saturday I've noticed this

Will see how she goes today x

ChinChilly · 08/08/2022 08:59

@strawberrysummer19 I feel like I’m going to be spending the next 3 months ATLEAST wondering if this and that is normal? are they ok? Should she be doing this? My Google search history is hilarious in the last few weeks. Just gotta take each day as it comes I guess!

strawberrysummer19 · 08/08/2022 09:01

@ChinChilly I'm the same !! Feel like I'm wishing time away! And I don't mean to but this new born stage really is tough. I know there will be other things to worry about but I find newborn stage hard x I love we have this group though as it's so reassuring x

ChinChilly · 08/08/2022 09:21

@strawberrysummer19 I’m the same, I can’t wait for her to be less fragile and get a little bit of routine on the go. Some days I feel like I’m trapped in the house and can’t plan anything because I dunno what’s she is gonna be up to

Lianna93 · 08/08/2022 11:50

I'm in the same boat with the trapped wind - my little one turns her whole body purple with how much she cries in pain 😞
We found putting her on her back & doing tummy massage and bicycle legs as well as pushing her legs into her stomach helped get out all the pumps which seems to have made a massive difference, she's a lot more settled today 🀞🏻 but it's been days of screaming 😩

OP posts:
strawberrysummer19 · 08/08/2022 14:50

@Lianna93 I'm going to try more massage and bath time to see if that makes a difference
Saw my friend today who said she had the same problem but she's 4 wks ahead and sometimes think it's just where they are so little

I normally burp her half way through a feed and then again at the end - sometimes we get two burps but but I'm thinking it's not enough
My friend said even though som me is coming up some may be getting trapped

Hoping for a more settled
Night as it's exhausting and hate seeing her in discomfort! Horrible isn't it x

KizboBaggins · 08/08/2022 14:51

@strawberrysummer19 has it settled down for your friend's little one now? Trying to find some light at the end of the tunnel πŸ˜…

strawberrysummer19 · 08/08/2022 14:55

@KizboBaggins yes it has for her however she has changed his milk. From aptamil to kendamil to a prescription one but she said she went through weeks of it and really wouldn't recommend changing so many times so I was a bit conflicted

I feel I want to carry on with the milk - I use cow and gate because the the thing is it isn't constant
Like today she's had a small little crying episode whilst out but since 730am until now she's been mainly settled apart from one episode so I don't think it's worth going down the route of changing milk

We said we would do 24hrs of massage, more burping and see if that helps x

KizboBaggins · 08/08/2022 20:28

@strawberrysummer19 that's good to know! My little one is EBF so don't have an option to change milk so just going to have to ride it out! I thought about cutting out dairy but I have no reason to think that's what's causing it.

My boy has just been awake for a record four hours... he fed for a decent portion of it but he also was just really content and alert which was lovely to see!

I have a bit of a tmi question - is anyone else suffering from piles? I didn't even realise I had them until I've just gone to the toilet... idk how to fix them. It feels like the post pregnancy body issues are never ending. I've also just developed some insane boob stretch marks over the last few days. So generally feeling pretty gross right now πŸ˜”

AppleTree16 · 08/08/2022 20:47

@KizboBaggins I had them on and off their trimester and then developed some killer ones during labour 😬. Midwife said anusol is safe to use from birth (even with stitches) and to keep regular/drink lots of water.

strawberrysummer19 · 08/08/2022 20:52

@KizboBaggins ah I see, yes maybe riding it out is what we have to do. I've given my lo some massage and a nice bath and tummy rub so I'm hoping for a more settled night to see if any difference.

That's lovely - mine has done a couple of hours and it's so nice to see her alert and looking around

Yes me! I had noticed them though because they were so painful! When my midwife checked my stitches she said I had them so I had some treatment but they are still there but they don't seem as prominent

Bloody awful isn't it

My blood flow is still the same so I'm constantly waiting for that to slow down, it's same Color too infact quite dark and stringy still- when I called triage they said it should slow down soon but 2 weeks is still the norm πŸ™„ so it may take a while longer

I'm on iron tablets 3 times a day
Blood thinning injections into my stomach for 6weeks! Piles, bleeding, just feel a complete mess so I feel your pain! I can't help but think when the meds are over and the bleeding stops I'll feel soooo much better and more like myself

X

KizboBaggins · 08/08/2022 20:53

@AppleTree16 thanks - I'll give it a go!

ChinChilly · 08/08/2022 21:32

@strawberrysummer19 I was on blood thinning injections and found my bleeding only slowed down once I had stopped taking them.

ShellUK09 · 08/08/2022 22:15

@strawberrysummer19 I was also given blood thinning injections for 6 weeks, it has been awful having to do them each day! Would never have imagined I'd have been able to cope with them as I had a bad needle phobia (before pregnancy! Now very used to needles, these ones just sting!) I still had to get my partner to do them for me as I just couldn't inject myself. I've got two injections left now so looking forward to Wednesday when they are finally finished! My bleeding stopped fairly quickly after about a week so the injections didn't seem to have an impact for me that way. I'm still on blood pressure medication but they have reduced it by half now so hopefully they will just wean me off it soon. Hope you feel better soon. The things we all have to go through!

Lianna93 · 09/08/2022 01:37

Had another hellish day with my little one having trapped wind 😩
My FIL ran out to Asda & got us Infacol & it's done wonders. Baby managed to pass her wind & finally done a couple of poos but still remained fussy afterwards. She's barely fed throughout the day because of all the trapped wind, so when she did get some relief she quite literally sucked both boobs dry. Feel so awful for her.
I now have a baby that won't let me put her down, so there goes my sleep tonight 😭
Think I'm gonna contact my HV in the morning & see what else I can do or if I can get the Infacol on prescription.
I can't wait for this stage to end, I feel so helpless when she's in that much pain 😞

SamanthaVimes · 09/08/2022 04:48

@Lianna93 glad the infacol helped your little one

mine won’t be put down either. He won’t sleep from 3:30 am onwards, it’s such a ball ache and he’s been sick on the bed twice (feeding for comfort but he’s run out of room!) so am moving around the bed avoiding wet patches

it’s so difficult that he won’t feed to sleep. I know some people think it’s a β€œbad habit” but I think it’s the easiest way to get sleep! I hope he grows into it as I hate rocking to sleep and definitely won’t be able to do it when he gets bigger

strawberrysummer19 · 09/08/2022 06:17

@Lianna93 we've had a hellish night too!
Worst yet - she's just been so uncomfortable and we feel like we haven't slept!

My bleeding is also getting me down so will be calling in today about that
Im still pleasing small stringy blood and im sure it doesn't smell nice
So not sure if I have an infection or if it's all normal
Know some people can bleed for 6wks but surely it's supposed to get less ? And change colour - mines still dark red

Think we have no choice but to try the infacol today

Hope the HV can suggest something

I was also wondering if I should call GP or HV

Keep us updated

@strawberrysummer19 @ShellUK09 poor things with 6 weeks of blood thinning injections πŸ˜΅β€πŸ’« I had 10 days worth and I thought that was bad enough.

Has anyone had their 6 week check up yet? Had my appointment letter yesterday and its a phone call. Thought it would be face to face

ChinChilly · 09/08/2022 08:54

@missv556 mines a phone call too. Seems pointless I also thought it would be face to face

KizboBaggins · 09/08/2022 09:10

@ChinChilly @missv556 my 6 week check up is a phone call in the morning and then a face to face appointment on the SAME day in the afternoon to see the baby. Absolutely ridiculous.

ShellUK09 · 09/08/2022 10:44

@missv556 I know, when they told me I needed a 6 week course of the injections I was filled with dread! It's definitely put a downer on the whole experience, but it's almost over thank god! I hadn't realised people also get these injections after a c section, no one really mentions it!

My GP surgery said the 6 week check for me is optional and only needed if I had any concerns about my health... I chose not to book it in, but really I'm getting checked anyway as been there several times for blood pressure checks and got an appointment next week with the nurse to discuss contraception where they check blood pressure and weight. I feel fine and midwife had checked my stitches so not sure what else the 6 week check is about?

strawberrysummer19 · 09/08/2022 10:51

Right im trying the infacol!!!!

This is ridiculous

feed this morning and no burps
Despite trying burping for agggges keeping upright

Slept on me, then put in her cot slept an hour then woke crying as if she was in pain and squirming looking uncomfortable

Next feed now armed with infacol ! Please help
I'm doing the next 2 days and nights alone as fiancé has 2 long days booked at work 😩😩😩

Lianna93 · 09/08/2022 11:03

@strawberrysummer19 I really hope it works for you. We started it yesterday & honestly it's made such a difference.
I can now hear the wind moving about in her.
She was on my chest sleeping, I heard the wind move down and then a minute later she woke screaming in pain. I popped her down, pushed her knees up to her chest & she did a huge pump and she settled immediately after that.
I finally managed to get her down to sleep last night too & she gave me a solid 6 hours & when she woke she had done a poo- which have been so few & far between because of all the wind.

@Lianna93 6 hours is amazing, I bet you feel like a new woman!
