@ChinChilly that's good then. Well I got the letter but no show! I'll call tomorrow
What is the purpose ? Just to check all is ok. Only had the midwife recently at day 10 and she's calling again tomorrow so figured it didn't matter her not coming today - feel like the midwives that have attended it's just a bit of a tick box exercise and all have different advice / concluding in my experience so far

Yes I read that about the prep
Clean it every 2 weeks and only use TT filters

@strawberrysummer19 I can't understand where the time goes? I get nothing done. I'm just shattered. Seem to be failing with day naps and night time is mixed. Sometimes she is actually asleep but I just can't sleep as I worry every noise she makes. I also keep panicking that I've fallen asleep with her on me. But it's just my massive boobs that weigh a ton, on my chest. πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈπŸ€£ The no sleep is brutal, I have to say. And today she was exhausting- constantly feeding and crying. Which isn't standard but god its hard work. I hope its going OK for you?

strawberrysummer19 · 01/08/2022 20:18

@paintfairy I'm the same, time really flies !
We have a 10 yr old so we are trying to keep her entertained and what helped is printing out a calendar and writing a list out of things we need to do / want to do but very often we are like we will do that tomorrow !
Silly things like starting tummy time or we just file her nails ! We constantly ask what time was last feed and has she pooed today !

Oh well mines been asleep most the day ! So not looking forward to tonight!!

She's spent the last few nights being vocal
And noisy and we are not sleeping and day time
Naps isn't possible at the moment
Maybe when things settle but doesn't seem like I can at the moment

Yep also shattered ! 🀣x

annie1994 · 01/08/2022 20:26

My baby is so noisy at night time too!! He’s just constantly grunting and stuff, it drives me mad πŸ˜‚. I have found when the nights are cooler and we can put him in his sleeping bag, he’s not so noisy x

ChinChilly · 01/08/2022 21:09

@strawberrysummer19 just a check in I think to be honest, not sure what the point was she weighed her but the midwife is going to weigh her on Wednesday anyway. She gave me some vitamins and stuff and few books for baby and some info on where my health visitor clinic is and childrens centre but that was it really. Yeah I think as long as you stick to that the prep is safe to use.

@paintfairy I agree, I said to OH the days just fly by I cannot believe we’ve been home for a week already. 2 weeks ago I was in bed timing my contractions at about every 10 mins…scary!

Coco9910 · 01/08/2022 21:12

@strawberrysummer19 ahh okay makes sense! Just thinking if it comes to it I’ll tell my partner to go to work and then just come home when I know what time to go in :) Thank you!

strawberrysummer19 · 01/08/2022 21:20

@annie1994 glad it's just not my bubs ! I could cope with the waking and feeding it's the in between bits ! 🀣

@Coco9910yes good plan and it's all very slow to start so he will have time.

@ChinChillyah I see I was worried I was being Blasie about it all but I will give the office a call
Tomorrow and see when they are coming out

paintfairy · 01/08/2022 23:31

@ChinChilly i think it's because there's no separate days! It all blends into one blur.
@strawberrysummer19 when do you even start tummy time?

I've had a weird day with mine. This afternoon she just was mental. Wanted to constantly feed but I'm not even sure she was taking that much. Then I thought she possibly wasn't getting it but every time I took her off, there was still milk there. She sucked a bit then fell to sleep. Screamed. Repeat. I'm exhausted. And not sleeping well anyway.

Has anyone else been hot BTW? I assume it's hormones but since giving birth I'm permanently boiling! No matter what the weather. And warm days certainly don't help! I just stink all the time. πŸ™ˆ

CaptainCarp · 02/08/2022 02:34

@paintfairy yes I do seem to be running warm! Also seem to be stinking even though I've been pretty much doing nothing & washing every day!

@KizboBaggins it was strange & harder when DP went back to work but you adjust pretty quickly.
It may be worth asking DP to make you some food ready in the 1st few days. Baby seemed to be fussy the 1st couple of days not sure if it was because daddy wasn't around or just coincidence as it was 3 weeks.

We went to the commonwealth games today. Baby didn't quite run to their schedule πŸ˜‚ but it was a good day.
Had a couple of busy days though & feeling it a bit now.

Lianna93 · 02/08/2022 06:08

@JJ1992 Hope you don't have too much longer to go - being overdue absolutely sucked, so can totally sympathise with how you're feeling πŸ₯°

@KizboBaggins I was wondering about vitamin D drops because that's all I've read about online but I've just to keep taking the same vitamins as I did during pregnancy for the next 2/3 years - thankfully I get them for free from my doctors surgery.

@NamelessBaby1 I feel like I've got a constant pressure down below because of my pelvic floor being shot - it's always worse at night too for some reason so still on paracetamol πŸ™„πŸ˜‚

Im absolutely exhausted. My little one has been cluster feeding pretty much non stop for the past two days but it's at the point where I literally cannot put her down otherwise she'll scream & want fed. DH tried taking her to give me a break & so I could nap yesterday but she wouldn't settle at all for him, she wouldn't take a bottle either because she wanted me.
The only saving grace I have right now is all this cluster feeding during the day means she's sleeping throughout the night. Managed to get her down about 11pm (ish) and she woke at 5 for a feed.
Granted my boobs are like rocks come the morning & I can already hear my health visitor tell me I should either be waking her to feed or pumping to make sure my supply doesn't diminish but soz hen, absolutely no way am I giving up 6 hours of uninterrupted sleep just to drain my boobs πŸ™„πŸ˜‚

ChinChilly · 02/08/2022 06:33

@paintfairy. Absolutely, I tried to phone the registry office on Saturday and wondered why the lines were off πŸ˜‚ also running quite hot here, made me look forward to autumn/winter lol

@Lianna93 I wouldn’t wake mine up either, she tends to go over the 4 hours in the night but there is no way I’m waking her, if she’s hungry she’ll wake

Has anybody managed to book in to register baby? The authority we come under, Birmingham has a massive backlog and no appointments until almost November 😳 I know there is a couple of mommas on here in Birmingham too… you can also register at Solihull for now aswell as they are helping Birmingham clear the backlog, the appointments there still aren’t until September. Worked out well for us we’re literally 5 mins away from the Solihull office couldn’t think of anything worse than going in Birmingham town centre atm.

missv556 · 02/08/2022 07:01

@ChinChilly I'm a Birmingham mama, the first available appointment to register the birth was 29th September. Its ridiculous really.

I also have a grunter. Little man is currently grunting beside me after waking up and having a feed around 6.30. He's also seemed to develop a habit of cluster feeding for about 3-4 hours in the evening which is absolutely shattering. I feel like he's draining my life source via my boobs, can't put him down before he starts screaming so can barely go for a wee. But on a positive note he sleeps beautifully overnight. He went down about 10pm last night and woke at 3am for a feed, back to sleep by 3.30 and slept til 6.30. Been like this a few days now so think we may have established a bit of a routine. And I've been going to bed when he does so I've been getting more sleep but still dead tired and want more lol

The first 2 weeks after birth I was running warm too, especially during that heatwave. I stank lol seems to have calmed down now

I was given vitamin drops for the baby but only given them once so far since I got them last week. Just forget to give them

Lianna93 · 02/08/2022 07:57

@ChinChilly quite a backlog where I am too but thankfully doesn't seem to be as bad as yourself - we register our little one on the 16th 😁
I find the advice around baby feeds to be conflicting. Some say don't let them go past 4 hours but then my HV had said I was fine to leave her that bit longer because she's no longer classed as a newborn.
I was gonna exclusively pump too because I've been struggling with the latch but was told I had to pump every 3 hours... No thanks πŸ™ˆπŸ˜‚

@paintfairy @CaptainCarp I'm the same with the running warm. I constantly feel like I need to shower & I swear, no amount of deodorant is helping - I was wondering if it was to do with breastfeeding πŸ€”

I’m from Essex and registered my son on the 27th July which was the first available. I had him on the 6th but couldn’t decide on a name till around day 10! I wake up every night feed sweating nearly 4 weeks on and still the same πŸ™„ my bleeding has basically stopped but still wearing a small pad cos I still have a little bleed/discharge here and there just can’t wait for it to completely finish nothing worse wearing a pad in the heat! 😩🀣

KizboBaggins · 02/08/2022 08:32

Another vote here for sweating at night. I'm not too bad during the day but I wake up drenched in sweat constantly. Ironic that during the heatwave and heavily pregnant I didn't sweat once.

I'm in the North East and registered baby yesterday - less than 2 weeks after he was born. Crazy the amount of time some of you are having to wait!

@missv556 right there with you with the evening cluster feeds - definitely worth it for the decent night sleep though! I hope this is his new routine but I don't want to count my chickens

@Lianna93 I'm not waking my little one either. I did it for one night and it was pointless. He knows when he's hungry!

SamanthaVimes · 02/08/2022 08:38

I’m also hot and a sweat box all the time, it’s so gross!

we managed to register little man when he was a week old (I didn’t go just sent DH) so it must be really area dependant

He’s 2 weeks old now and been really fussy the last couple of days. I’d forgotten how annoying cluster feeding is. I think he’s quite windy too which doesn’t help. Good job he’s cute!

DD has picked up a cold at nursery which has been difficult as she’s extra emotional and hard work when she’s not well, poor baby. Also a bit worried about her passing it to the newborn but I think an element of that is unavoidable (she’s definitely given it to me so hopefully little one is getting some antibodies from the milk)

strawberrysummer19 · 02/08/2022 09:49

So my first night alone wasn't so bad !
I went up at 11pm and fiancΓ© insisted on doing her next feed downstairs and bought her up at 1am so I could get a couple of hours in, then I took over and slept on the me to you side when he came to bed, as we share it. He was up for work at 6am and said that was enough sleep for him.

Then I fed her at 315 back down by 345
Nappy change, bottle and a burp which I thought was good

Then again at 620 when fiancΓ© was leaving for work, i could hear him and her grunting so I thought I'd feed her. Down again by 7am and She's now still asleep from that feed! I've snoozed as she's been so vocal! But looks soundo now !
So I'm still upstairs, have showered and pottered about tidying up - things I don't get to do normally as I try stay downstairs so I'm not constantly up and down the stairs which knacker me out when I'm already so exhausted!
Wish I snoozed a bit more because I could have done - just thought she was stirring
This seems to be her long sleep from this time
But midwife is coming 'this morning' no set time so had that on my mind to be up
So not too bad all in all

I've got a date to register her for next Friday
I had a choice of different towns with dates but only a couple of weeks wait. Ridiculous some of you have been waiting so long.

I too feel hot (not breastfeeding) but then go from needing to put cosy dressing gown and slippers on!

X

ChinChilly · 02/08/2022 09:59

@missv556 when I went on the website yesterday it was showing the 18th October as the next available, you may be able to get in abit sooner at Solihull but it’s whether you can be bothered faffing around cancelling and rebooking.

@Lianna93 no longer classes as newborn 😭 it’s all goes to quick! The advice is conflicting but I don’t know anybody who wakes their baby up in the night to feed them

Baby’s cord thing is hanging off, honestly I cannot wait for that thing to drop off it’s gross! It looked abit gooey behind so I asked the HV yesterday and she said it all looked fine but she was being a bit squeamish about it, I was thinking bloody hell love you must of seen loads of these πŸ™„ good job I’m seeing my midwife tomorrow I’ll ask her instead

missv556 · 02/08/2022 10:24

@ChinChilly I just rang up Solihull and they did have a few appointments for the end of august/beginning September yesterday but they've been taken. The guy on the phone says they open up their calander for appointments on Monday mornings, he said the next dates available would be around 6th September. Don't know if you wanna give them a ring next Monday and see if you can get in earlier. I might try if I remember

ChinChilly · 02/08/2022 10:44

@missv556 ahh that makes sense I managed to get an appointment for 2nd Sept yesterday, works out ok for us because OH is off work that day and seen as we’re not married yet we both need to be present! Seems like ages away but I’m sure it’ll be here before I know it

NamelessBaby1 · 02/08/2022 11:27

That's reassuring some of you are having to wait so long to register - I can't even get through to our office to make an appointment so who knows how long I'll then have to wait for the actual appointment! I assume they can't fine you for not registering in time if you have at least tried?

I'm also in the rubbing hot party, getting really hot at night in particular!

Well done @strawberrysummer19 , sounds like it all went well so far!

We seem to be having a wee phase of needing to feed every 1.5 to 2 hours which is pretty tough, but my OH did the late night feed yesterday and let me get a few hours solid sleep which felt amazing!

Lianna93 · 02/08/2022 12:46

@KizboBaggins Every time I've followed the advice of waking her, I've spent an hour trying to get her awake enough to feed whereas now, if I leave her to sleep, she typically sleeps for 6 hours & then will feed immediately and I'm better rested too.

@SamanthaVimes Hopefully your little one doesn't catch the cold 🀞🏻

@strawberrysummer19 Glad to hear your first day without DH went well πŸ₯°

@ChinChilly My little ones Cord fell off on DH, he was freaking πŸ˜πŸ˜‚ That went straight into the bin. Pure rotten πŸ€’πŸ˜‚
Her bellybutton wasn't drying out though so my HV told me to sprinkle table salt on it & then clean it off after 5 minutes... She ended up with a bloody scab after that but now it seems to look better, though still a bit wet looking so may need to do it again 😩

@NamelessBaby1 I was worried about the 21 day rule too, it was looking like the end of August to get an appointment in Motherwell but turns out they've scrapped the rule because of the backlog. We're registering her in Airdrie though because they had better dates for appointments but I believe you can register your baby anywhere in Scotland 😊

OP posts:
ChinChilly · 02/08/2022 12:59

@NamelessBaby1 I can’t see them fining you if you’ve made attempts to contact them. It’s ridiculous really. These councils need to get themselves sorted! I work for the authority where we will be registering baby so I know exactly why it takes so bloody long…too tight to employ staff.

@Lianna93 if her cord falls off on OH, he will freak out πŸ˜‚ the first time he saw it he was like WTF is that and heaved πŸ˜‚ the midwife who discharged us from hospital said she kept her baby’s in a sealed container and still has it to this date 🀒🀒🀒 ahh I’ll ask my midwife about drying it out, can’t wait for that to look normal, absolutely gross

Lianna93 · 02/08/2022 13:04

@ChinChilly Oh no that's rank πŸ™ˆπŸ˜‚ My friend kept her kids cords too - gives me proper heebie jeebies πŸ˜πŸ˜‚

OP posts:
SamanthaVimes · 02/08/2022 13:17

@ChinChilly @Lianna93 I agree the cords are grim. Finally lost little man’s yesterday and it went straight in the bin! Much nicer changing his nappy now without that big clip in the way
