@kiwi17 yeah I kinda think if they’re tired they’ll sleep. My LG was 12 weeks yesterday 3 months next week. It’s all going so quick

@Lianna93 i think we’ve been going through the 12 week growth spurt, we’ve had a few fussy days and now all of a sudden loads of her stuff doesn’t fit 🀣 glad u mentioned teething my LG has been doing the same on my hand and the dribble well there’s just loads of it lol

@missv556 same over her, no problem sleeping in there all night but in the day she’s like nope πŸ˜‚

Lianna93 · 13/10/2022 08:44

I definitely think this is a combo of the growth spurt & teething. I still can't get her to sleep for more than 20 minutes at a time. She's definitely cluster feeding right now but she keeps coming off to let out a little cry then going straight back on again 😩

I don't know if it's growth spurt or the cold, but the last three days we've been feeding every 2 hours again, even through the night, although thankfully last night we had a 5 hour sleep again! It's rubbish just as you're getting used to a wee routine the it all changes again!

KizboBaggins · 13/10/2022 12:30

Has anyone who is breastfeeding had mastitis? I'm trying to figure out if I have it or not. I've got a bit of soreness in my boob and I feel like absolute death. Headache, shaking, aching joints the lot. I'm gonna try warm compress but it's in an impossible spot for my little boy to feed with his chin facing it πŸ™„ if you've had it, what did you do and how long did it last? I've checked NHS and it says up to 10 days but god I hope it doesn't last that long

kiwi17 · 13/10/2022 13:39

@KizboBaggins I have had blocked ducts a couple of times but managed to clear through massaging the boob every time he fed and being really forceful with pushing it down towards the nipple so he could suck it out. But my friend has had mastitis twice and your symptoms sound exactly like she had- go to the gp as they should give you antibiotics- hope you feel better soon!

ShellUK09 · 13/10/2022 15:00

@Lianna93 I'm having a similar experience right now, last night was one of the worst nights since the early days and I was up every hour too 😫 although ironically she is fast asleep now when her feed is overdue and I'm just waiting for her to wake up now, she must be catching up on sleep! I need to do that badly but every time I try to catch a nap she is wide awake so feeling a bit out of it today πŸ€ͺ no one tells you about all this before you have a baby, or if they did I wasn't taking it seriously! Hopefully this phase will pass soon!

SamanthaVimes · 13/10/2022 17:08

@KizboBaggins have you tried dangle feeding? It’s where you lie LO on their back on the floor/ bed and dangle your boob into them (helps you line their chin up with the block so you don’t need to hold them upside down!)

if you’ve got a temp/ feeling really rough it’s probably worth getting some antibiotics just in case it’s got infected

in the mean time you could try some ibuprofen, it’s anti inflammatory so might make it a bit easier to clear the blockage

blocked ducts and mastitis really suck, hope you feel better soon!

ChinChilly · 13/10/2022 20:26

my LO has a tooth sticking through and fully rolled twice this evening…I’m not ready for all these milestones 😭😭😭

CaptainCarp · 14/10/2022 14:06

@ChinChilly my little 1 can roll from her back to either side & she's gone all the way onto her front twice but not sure if it was a fluke as she was on the bed & there is a slight indent where we lie.
She's growing up so fast 😒

@KizboBaggins i would get to the doctors as it sounds like you may need antibiotics. Hope you feel better soon.

@ShellUK09 @Lianna93 baby has been waking every hour (maybe pushing 1.5hrs) at night for most of this week 😴 feels like having a newborn again! I'm really hoping she gets back into longer stretches again soon.
Also only wants to nap on me during the day or interestingly in the car(seat) - typing whilst currently sat in the car as we are 20mins into a nap & I dare not move her πŸ˜‚

KizboBaggins · 14/10/2022 14:11

@kiwi17 @SamanthaVimes @CaptainCarp thanks guys - I went downhill pretty rapidly yesterday so went to the hospital and I have antibiotics now and am slowly feeling better. I didn't realise how bad it could be! Not sure if I've unclogged the duct yet but trying to massage and heat it, will give dangle feeding a go too

Lianna93 · 14/10/2022 14:59

@KizboBaggins Hope you feel better soon!

I've had another awful night - I eventually gave up and just cuddled with her so she'd settle & I could sleep - I know, not safe sleeping but she is absolutely refusing to sleep anywhere but my arms right now 😭
I'm about to hit hour 3 of trying to get her to nap & it's the same again. Fine in my arms but the moment I put her down, she's wide awake & crying for me 😩😩
I really hope this phase is short lived 🀞🏻

OP posts:
CaptainCarp · 14/10/2022 15:45

@Lianna93 I've done similar befor. Will she sleep next you in bed if you can get her to sleep lie down & gradually lie her down so she still has your body warmth?
Sometimes it works for me.

I fell asleep whilst feeding last night! Literally woke up with baby lay on her side facing me nuzzled in to my boob.
She seems to like sleeping on her side as I keep waking up & she's lay on her side!

CaptainCarp · 14/10/2022 15:46

@KizboBaggins glad you've got antibiotics & hope you feel better soon

Lianna93 · 14/10/2022 18:48

@CaptainCarp I managed to get her down maybe an hour after I commented. But would only sleep in my bed so made a nice clear space for her & tucked my duvet underneath me so. She's been down for nearly 3 hours now, which has meant I finally got a bit of a sleep but it isn't sustainable long term.
DH is quite a large guy, so there's no way we could bedshare the 3 of us. I'm hoping maybe now she's had her nap, she'll go down tonight a lot easier 🀞🏻
I knew it was too good to be true when she was a great sleeper from birth πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

SamanthaVimes · 14/10/2022 19:44

I think they like to lull us into a false sense of security πŸ˜‚ as soon as we think we’ve figured them out they move the goal posts!

We’ve had a crap day for naps here (and I’ve been trying for contact/sling naps not even putting him down but it’s still not worked very well today!)

fingers crossed for tomorrow!

CaptainCarp · 14/10/2022 20:23

@Lianna93 at least you got a bit of sleep & hopefully feel a bit more "with it". I was lucky that our sofa is flat & wide if I take the back cushions off. I have had a couple of naps with baby in the middle of the on it!
Fingers crossed you'll have a better night. I did read somewhere that apparently if they don't have enough sleep in the day they sleep less at night!?!

I thought we were going to have a nice night came up early because I'm tired & baby fed to sleep & was in the next to me at 7:30 ... Unfortunately 45mins later she is awake but at least she transferred with no fuss πŸ™ˆ hoping she just needs a top up!

kiwi17 · 14/10/2022 22:18

@KizboBaggins glad you've got your antibiotics and hope the pains ease soon 😊

It's funny how the all seem to sync up - ds has been nap refusing today too but I did manage a 2.5hr nap in the carrier which is a win but my back is killing me now! I remember this stage with dd though and I promise it does pass. Flipping 4 month sleep regression!!

Mattieandmummy · 14/10/2022 22:34

Oh am dreading the 4 month sleep regression, DD1 didn't sleep any longer than 2 hours at night for another year after that. 😭

Lianna93 · 14/10/2022 22:53

Changed things up tonight & have switched sides with DH & moved her crib - I normally sleep window side so I'm thinking it's maybe be too cold at my side. Whereas DH prefers the side of the door which is also where the radiator is - have turned the radiator down though because I don't want her to overheat when it does come on - I know, I know I'm splashing out on heating when my wages are about to hit those generous statutory payments, but it's far too cold without it on & there's only so many layers a baby & breastfeeding mama can wear πŸ˜©πŸ˜‚
Anyways - so far, so good 🀞🏻🀞🏻

OP posts:
Lianna93 · 15/10/2022 07:14

And we've had success!
Woke at 3 & 6 for feeds but stayed asleep the rest of the night.
Feel rotten I didn't realise sooner but glad I've gotten to the root of the problem now!

OP posts:
SamanthaVimes · 15/10/2022 13:15

Woohoo! That’s great sleep. I had my boy in an extra layer last night as well and he slept better too. It’s definitely feeling more wintery now.

SamanthaVimes · 16/10/2022 19:36

Does anyone else still get witching hour screamies? DS is 13 weeks tomorrow and gets to a point around 7/7:30 where he has a massive shout. Won’t feed, won’t chill out no matter what I do so I tend to just bounce him on my legs until he gives up and goes to sleep. He’s normally out for the night then apart from a feed when I go to bed and usually one in the night.

DD always feed to sleep fairly peacefully so this is a bit new to me!

KizboBaggins · 16/10/2022 19:47

@SamanthaVimes we don't get screaming but we get a LOT of fussing in the evenings still. He will cry after a while if he's not moved around and generally is unsettled for the majority of the evenings. Last night he went from around 5.30-9.30. He basically wants us to walk around with him or shift him into different positions every 2 minutes. It's so exhausting. He sleeps well once he goes down but hard feeling like we have no evening to relax! I wonder if he's getting overtired but he just won't give in

SamanthaVimes · 16/10/2022 20:10

@KizboBaggins yeah I wonder if mine is overtired, I feel like I haven’t worked out daytime naps yet (and his sister is determined to wake him up as often as possible πŸ€¦β€β™€οΈ)

KizboBaggins · 16/10/2022 20:39

@SamanthaVimes oh same - for ages I was using the Huckleberry app to track his naps and it ended up massively stressing me out so now I just go with whatever he wants to do. He's still sleeping well at night and I feel way less anxious! I figure we'll get into some kind of routine later down the line
