@SamanthaVimes our first was awful for the witching hour would scream until midnight sometimes! I don't remember when it ended though I think it just kind of faded off.. ds doesn't seem to be a witching hour personality thankfully πŸ˜†

Nap wise we are on about 3/4 a day atm with a wake time of about 1 1/2 to 2 hours between but the naps vary from 25 mins in the pram or cot to 2 hours in the carrier so I'm trying to be chilled about it for now. As long as he's had one longer nap in the day I make my peace with the short ones! I think I read somewhere to make sure they don't have awake time of more than 2 hours before bedtime otherwise they can get over tired and really fight you.

KizboBaggins · 17/10/2022 09:13

Those of you who are using bottles, what kind of flow bottle are you using now the babies are 3ish months? We try and do a bottle once a week but he refused the last one and I'm wondering if it's because the flow is too slow. Are you using the medium flow now?

Fizzybubblegumbottles · 17/10/2022 09:42

@KizboBaggins my LB is nearly 15 weeks and is on size 2 teats, he has been for a while now I think they are 2 months plus. What bottles do you use?

KizboBaggins · 17/10/2022 09:48

@Fizzybubblegumbottles thanks! I have a tommee tippee and a medela bottle that came with the pump. Which do you use? I might see if big Tesco have got the size up. I hope that's why he won't take a bottle otherwise I'll be genuinely upset that I can never leave him with someone for a few hours lol

Fizzybubblegumbottles · 17/10/2022 10:08

@KizboBaggins yeah have a look they should do in the baby section. Hopefully that’s the reason 🀞🏻 or he was just being fussy that day πŸ˜‚ I use mam bottles

ShellUK09 · 17/10/2022 10:53

@KizboBaggins we use MAM bottles and have been on size 2 teats for a good while now. The feeds now are really quick and she is usually done with a bottle by about 10 minutes, and then 20 minutes of winding. The whole process seems much easier than it used to be, I'll almost miss the milk stage in the future when she drops all the milk for proper food! A long way off yet though!

ChinChilly · 17/10/2022 12:31

@KizboBaggins we’re still on mam size 1 here took her a while to get from 0-1 tbh, she can be quite sicky so I think the slower teat is better, shes 3 months this week though so may try the size 2 this week and see how she gets on.

chocsaucestrawb · 17/10/2022 14:47

We are using size 2 mam but use carabel
So thinking of upping to 3 soon

Does anyone know if you should give calpol before 12 wk jabs ? I know it was advised at the 8wk one but this time my GP didn't send a letter, just called

12 wks jabs tomorrow 😬

chocsaucestrawb · 17/10/2022 14:50

Also taking bubs swimming this weekend
Any tips?

We have a reusable swim nappy and going to buy her a costume this week

We also have an 11 yr old and want to go altogether for her first swim

Thinking one of us goes in with eldest so she gets a good swim time as know we won't be able to stay in for too long with bubs and then say me or dad will then join with bubba once we are 10 mins away of having enough

X

SamanthaVimes · 17/10/2022 16:00

@chocsaucestrawb no need for calpol for 12 week jabs, you need it again for 16 week ones though as that’s got the meningitis jab in it again

SamanthaVimes · 17/10/2022 16:03

We had our 12 week jabs today (a week late) and little man has been mostly ok, a little bit grumpier than normal but not too bad. He’s passed out in the sling so I’m wandering round the house trying to find things to do that don’t need lots of bending!

KizboBaggins · 17/10/2022 16:05

@chocsaucestrawb nope no Calpol needed. Had ours last week.

Oh side note - at our 12 week jabs I undressed baby and the nurse said "Oh. I was hoping for chubbier thighs..." I was thinking excuse me lady his thighs are PERFECTLY chubby how dare you! Can't believe he's already being body shamed πŸ˜‚

NamelessBaby1 · 17/10/2022 17:04

Also meant to be having the 12 week jabs tomorrow but she still has a bit of a sniffle after having the cold last week so I'm not sure if I should reschedule or not!

Daytime naps all over the place at the moment, she's slept loads today but sometimes we're only getting ki

NamelessBaby1 · 17/10/2022 17:05

Oops, typing with one hand lol. Sometimes only getting 2 hours total all day of naps!!

Lianna93 · 17/10/2022 18:24

Unsure if we've been getting witching hour because we had weeks of dealing with reflux before getting omeprazole but she's been super settled since being on it - We would see screaming from 5pm til sometimes as late as midnight 😩

Still lots of daytime naps but we have no routine, i just follow what she needs & take it from there.

12 weeks jags on Wednesday for us!

Can't believe our babies are 3 months now 😩 Crazy how this time last year, I was in my 2 week window hoping every day that I'd be blessed with my baby πŸ₯Ί

@KizboBaggins omg can’t believe the nurse was that rude to you!
I’m sure his thighs are perfect!

ChinChilly · 18/10/2022 08:41

@Lianna93 I was thinking this yesterday, there will be a July 2023 babies thread soon…can’t believe how quickly it all goes.

Sleep is turning into a battle, She is really fighting it! It’s taken an hour and half last night and the night before to get to sleep and she’s seriously fighting naps. She goes off then wakes herself up a few minutes later…She wants the dummy but keeps knocking it out, cursing the hospital for starting the dummy addiction πŸ˜‚ I wondered if we were having abit of a sleep regression but it’s probably too early

ChinChilly · 18/10/2022 12:56

Also has anybody put baby in the pushchair part of the travel system yet? My LO doesn’t really like the carrycot and gets a little bit of reflux so often spits up in there. I put her in the pushchair part today, reclined obviously, but she seemed happier that she could see more than the sky or hood and there was no spit up πŸ€”

missv556 · 18/10/2022 13:15

When people applied for child benefit how long did it take from application to receiving first payments? And was there any acknowledgement to say they had received the form and its being processed? I was only able to register my boy at the end of September and I posted the form the same day so it's been like 3 weeks now. Just worried cos I know they won't backdate it beyond 3 months

missv556 · 18/10/2022 13:25

Never mind I've just seen it can take up to 16 weeks to process a new claim so I'm gonna miss out on a few months of money I guess

Fizzybubblegumbottles · 18/10/2022 15:38

@ChinChilly my little one will be 15 weeks tomorrow and I put him in the seat unit last Friday it fully reclines too he just looked too big for the carry cot lol

KizboBaggins · 18/10/2022 15:40

@missv556 I never received any confirmation but I got the first payment quickly so hopefully you won't miss out on much!

ChinChilly · 18/10/2022 15:54

@Fizzybubblegumbottles I’m sure mine reclines fully back she’s never in it for long tbh if I take the dog out I put her in my carrier, she’s only ever in the pushchair if I pop to the shop. She looks okay in it and I took her for a little walk around the block and she seems ok πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈ She’s 13 weeks tomorrow though so I’m not sure if she’s too young.

@missv556 mine only took a few weeks to come through, the back payment came first then the normal payment about a week later

Fizzybubblegumbottles · 18/10/2022 16:02

@ChinChilly thats what I thought too, not in it for long really only quickly round the shops and to the school and back, I use the carrier sometimes and car seat sometimes. Well mine was just over 14 weeks when I put the seat unit on… no way was he going to fit in that carry cot till 6 months lol and he basically is flat just like being in the carrycot but with more room to move lol

ChinChilly · 18/10/2022 16:27

@Fizzybubblegumbottles I thought the same no way she’s gonna fit in it at 6 months, my pushchair says carry cot until 6 months but there is no way.

having a rough afternoon with naps, she won’t sleep but screaming because she’s tiredβ€¦πŸ™„
