@ChinChilly I've wondered about little baby Amelia too. I hope everything is ok with her.

@missv556 gives me hope for tonight, thank you!

missv556 · 14/09/2022 16:23

@KizboBaggins calpol, boob and cuddles kept him happy enough πŸ˜‚

Fizzybubblegumbottles · 14/09/2022 18:03

My LB had his last Thursday and he was quite sleepy afterwards. He was 9 weeks old
when he had them. I think they leave 4 weeks in between immunisations so he will have his next lot at 13 weeks and then at 17 weeks x

Lianna93 · 14/09/2022 21:01

My little one got her jags today too.
She's basically slept the entire day but isn't feeding much either but I the info sheet I got said that's normal so not gonna worry too much.
Feel so brutal for her, she just looks so sad 😩
Can't wait to get all the vaccines out the way.

@Lianna93 how is little one today? Did you get a restful night?

My little ones 1st jabs are tomorrow 430
Any tips?!

X

ShellUK09 · 15/09/2022 10:12

@strawberrysummer19 try giving your little one capol half an hour before your appointment and then a second dose after 4-6 hours if needed, and lots of cuddles! I can't wait for the jabs to be out the way, got our second set next week.

Lianna93 · 15/09/2022 11:28

@strawberrysummer19 Thankfully she did sleep through the night but woke up with a raging temperature at 5 😞
She's feeding better at least

I second what @ShellUK09 says.

CaptainCarp · 15/09/2022 13:36

@Lianna93 sorry to hear your little girl has got a temperature. Hopefully she's taking calpol ok which will help.
As long as she is feeding well she should be OK though.

@strawberrysummer19 I took calpol with me to give straight after the jab but I reckon @ShellUK09 might have the right idea of giving it just before.

SamanthaVimes · 15/09/2022 14:03

hope all the jabbed babies aren’t too upset. Ours are tomorrow. Will definitely try giving calpol before rather than after!

KizboBaggins · 15/09/2022 20:53

@strawberrysummer19 @SamanthaVimes my little guy had his jabs yesterday at 11, he slept for 2hrs after, woke up crying (very unusual for him), had some more Calpol and essentially slept for the rest of the day. He then slept as normal during the night (two wake ups) and hasn't had a temperature today - he's back to normal. We definitely got lucky but just wanted to give you a fairly positive story!

ShellUK09 · 16/09/2022 08:15

Does anyone else's baby hate having a bath? Our baby girl screams the house down every time, it's as if she is terrified of the water. It does make her sleep better once she has had a bath but it is an ordeal every time until she is back in her towel and she won't really calm down until her clothes are on and she is completely dry again. We test the water so it's not too hot and put her in very gradually but wondered if anyone had any tips to get her to enjoy baths?

NamelessBaby1 · 16/09/2022 08:45

Oh what a shame @ShellUK09 ! My wee one loves her baths thankfully - but it's getting dressed that causes the trauma here! She cries every time I'm putting her sleeves on! Such funny wee things aren't they?!

We've got the vaccines next week and have the Calpol in ready to go. HV told me to give her some in advance, then 4 hours after the first dose, then again 6 hours after that. Will see how we get on!

Just had our 6 week post natal check ups yesterday too, was expecting a bit more for myself than just a "how are you feeling", but oh well 🀷

ShellUK09 · 16/09/2022 10:10

@NamelessBaby1 yeah it is a shame! Bath times are never relaxing for us! Yeah they are funny πŸ˜„ I just hope she will like them one day!

The 6 week check does seem fairly relaxed. I didn't even have an official 6 week check for myself as my GP surgery said I only needed one if I was concerned about something or had a c section. I have since been back to the GP for checks anyway due to weaning off blood pressure medication and also had a contraceptive pill review so I feel I have probably been checked enough. The midwife had also checked my stitches during one of the home visits and it was all fine. I'd hope I'd know by now if there was an issue with the healing 11 weeks in, well hopefully anyway! But I know what you mean, you would think they would do a better check, they mainly seem concerned about post natal depression rather than the physical side.

Fizzybubblegumbottles · 16/09/2022 11:24

@ShellUK09 aww I bet she will enjoy baths soon! 🀞🏻 my little one loves bath time as soon as I put him on the mat on the floor while waiting for the bath to run he gets so happy 🀣 he does scream when it’s time to open his strong fists and get the fluff out 🀣 oh and when it’s time to get out, get dried, creamed and dressed lol πŸ™„πŸ€£

CaptainCarp · 16/09/2022 11:52

@ShellUK09 aww no that's a shame that baby doesn't like baths! Is it possible the water is a bit cold?

@NamelessBaby1 yes I expected a bit more from my check up as well but were definitely more interested in baby & a bit "are you feeling OK"

I have a follow up with the gynae team in October for my tear so hopefully that will be a proper check over.

missv556 · 16/09/2022 11:58

@NamelessBaby1 @ShellUK09 were your 6 week checks done in person? Mine was a phone call and then had my bp checked when I took baby for his jabs as I'm also weaning off meds.

@Fizzybubblegumbottles what is that fluff all about? 🀣 I'm forever picking it out from between his fingers lmao.

My boy enjoys the bath depending on his mood but it's the drying and getting dressed after that makes him scream bloody murder

Fizzybubblegumbottles · 16/09/2022 12:02

@missv556 I know it’s so annoying 🀣he screams when I open his fists lol always so much fluff floating around the bath 🀣 constantly cutting his nails too which he hates πŸ€·πŸΌβ€β™€οΈπŸ™„

strawbereysummer19 · 16/09/2022 12:39

My girl loves her baths, it's the after bit she hates, drying and getting changed !

We make sure the water is on the warmer side as she's not sure when it's luke warm.

My 6wk check lasted 1.5hrs ! I was quite surprised she the DR was so lovely and understanding- admit I was in tears as it was as little one was having a screaming episode ( possibly reflux / cmpa) and have an unsettled baby at times which is so horrible to deal with and is getting me down so she really took her time with us all.

Jabs in 4 hrs - calpol at the ready!! X

SamanthaVimes · 16/09/2022 12:47

My little one quite likes a bath, his big sister hated them when she was his age though. The only thing is that we tend to bath them both together and the toddler can get a bit over enthusiastic about β€œhelping” to wash him πŸ˜… it’s meant well though

We had jabs this morning and he’s been mostly sleeping since. I did manage to get some blood tests for myself but agree the bit for mums is very casual when you think of what our bodies have been through!

ShellUK09 · 16/09/2022 13:26

@Fizzybubblegumbottles ah that's lovely that it makes him so happy! It must be lovely to have a baby who enjoys baths! I hope mine enjoys it soon too, she will have to get used to it as can't not bathe her! My baby gets fluff in her hands too! I wonder where it all comes from! I enjoy cutting her nails though and she lets me do that with no issue, it amazes me how small her fingernails are πŸ₯°

@CaptainCarp we test the temperature of the bath water and get it to 37 degrees, maybe it is too warm for her though? Will try it a few degrees lower to see if it makes a difference.

@missv556 mine would have been in-person had I gone for the 6 week check but it was optional at my surgery. I was going anyway for blood pressure issues which were also in-person appointments. A lot of people seem to have the 6 week check over the phone though.

Lianna93 · 16/09/2022 14:42

@ShellUK09 Mine is quite content in the bath but will scream the place down afterwards but our bath routine is I get in the bath with her because it's easier, then DH takes her to get dried and dressed whilst I shower and that's when the screaming starts. However - I've found she's a lot calmer after a shower. Could always try that instead?

@NamelessBaby1 I had to request my 6 week appointment because for some reason lanarkshire don't do them anymore 🀨🀨 Even when I was there, the doctor was more interested in talking about herself than me πŸ™„

My wee one is now on antibiotics because she's got a wee infected toe 😩 I've not even clipped her toenails yet because they've not grown long enough for a trim so don't know how that's happened. It's so red and angry looking too & you can see it's got puss under the surface. Hoping it'll be a wee quick recovery for her.

KizboBaggins · 16/09/2022 18:43

@ShellUK09 my boy loves the bath. He does shiver LOADS though when I get him out. I put him straight in a towel and it's like 21/22 in the room so idk why. I don't put lotion on him because I feel I need to dress him immediately.

@Lianna93 how do you go about showering with them? Do you just sit on the floor? Is the water stream not too strong for them?

Lianna93 · 16/09/2022 20:06

@KizboBaggins I just put her in her bath seat in the bath then make sure the temperature is okay and use it on its normal setting. She's had a few showers now & seems to be quite content with them. Think it also helps her when she's coming out because she's not coming out a warm bath to a room that's colder than the water.
I remember being little & getting out the bath and it the room always felt freezing - it wasn't but it's because the bath is at 37Β° and the room is usually 26Β° or less but I hated that feeling, I still do as an adult πŸ˜‚ So I like to always have my LO towel & pjs on the radiator so it's all cosy for her

OP posts:
KizboBaggins · 16/09/2022 21:00

@Lianna93 ah ok thanks, I might give that a try!

Yeah radiator is a good idea, suppose I'll have to bite the bullet and actually put the heating on lol

KizboBaggins · 18/09/2022 12:24

How's everyone getting on?

Anyone else's baby just full on nap refusing? My boy has done two nights of 6.5hr stretches which is amazing, but he's coupled it with 4hrs of awake time in the evenings πŸ™„ today he's only napped for 20mins since 7am

Feel like all I do is stick his dummy in and try to make him sleep!
