@Lianna93 my little one hasn't had any green poos. They're all light brown with the little mustard looking seeds in them.

He's EBF, only latches for a few mins so is definitely getting only foremilk, especially as my let down is so violent lol. I think some baby's poos can naturally be a bit greener? Also could maybe be something you're eating that's passing through?

Lianna93 · 09/09/2022 18:09

@KizboBaggins my HV had me go dairy free for a month to see if that was part of the reason because there's been mucus in her poo as well (this all stemmed from her having a heat rash) but nothing changed from going dairy free and the rash hasn't came back now I'm eating dairy again.
I know the colour can vary but it's the consistency of it... they're just so runny majority of the time, like pure liquid 🀒

@Lianna93 hmm that's odd. I mean by boys are complete liquid too. His come out really foamy sometimes because of my fast let down, but they then settle into pure mustardy water in his nappy lol. I think that's normal though?

KizboBaggins · 09/09/2022 20:00

my boy's*

Lianna93 · 09/09/2022 20:09

@KizboBaggins When I first started getting her to latch on they came out foamy, sometimes they still do. But that's kinda a comfort to know that your boys is also like liquid. I still get mustardy coloured ones but seems to be rare now πŸ˜‚ I've mentioned the green to my HV but she never seems too concerned πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ I'll speak to my gp next week when she gets her check and see what she says about it.

@Lianna93 we’ve had a couple of green nappies, I think it’s in the realms of normal

KizboBaggins · 10/09/2022 21:06

Does anyone else's little one seem to maintain eye contact way better when they've got a dummy in their mouth?

missv556 · 11/09/2022 05:55

Slight humble brag but my alien just slept through from 9-5.30 without waking, he's just had a little feed and gone back to sleep. He normally wakes for the day after 6am so possibly eliminated the overnight feed. See how it goes tonight but I'm happy with that anyway

ChinChilly · 11/09/2022 06:41

@KizboBaggins I haven’t noticed but I’ll keep an eye on it and see

@missv556 how weird my LO has done exactly the same lol she’s slept through 3 out of the last 4 nights so I’m hoping this is the start her sleeping through 🀞🏼

KizboBaggins · 11/09/2022 07:49

@missv556 @ChinChilly congratulations! That must feel amazing haha. My boy went 9.30 - 3 last night and I'm taking that as a small win. He's still in bed too. I've left him with DH while I have a cup of coffee and cuddle the dog.

Has anyone heard of or uses the Wonder Weeks app?

SamanthaVimes · 11/09/2022 09:55

DS spent yesterday evening going absolutely mental from about 7-10. There was no position he was happy in, didn’t want to feed, didn’t want the sling, was clean and dry, nothing obviously wrong with him (I checked for hair tourniquets)

Any other suggestions in case he’s the same tonight? He seems ok now.

He woke up extra last night and I’m sure it’s because he was hungry from not feeding when he usually would

SamanthaVimes · 11/09/2022 09:58

@KizboBaggins I’ve heard of wonder weeks. I think when they’re really little it’s pretty good but the older they get the less accurate it is (as they naturally develop at slightly different rates)

I think I read somewhere that the sample size of babies they used was really small so I’d take anything it says with a pinch of salt. It’s alright for a bit of fun though and to see what things they might be learning soon.

ChinChilly · 11/09/2022 10:18

@KizboBaggins isn’t it nice to be able to enjoy a coffee actually hot occasionally lol I’ve heard of it I haven’t got it just because I didn’t wanna pay Β£4.99 for it πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

is anybody else’s babies obsessed with their tongue and hands? She’s constantly sticking her tongue out, messing with it or sticking her hands in her mouth, I know it can be a hunger cue but this is even after a feed and generally all the time πŸ˜‚

ShellUK09 · 11/09/2022 13:20

@SamanthaVimes it could be the start of teething. I don't know what the typical is that it starts but I guess every baby is different. My little one at almost 11 weeks now and seems to want to suck my finger more lately, even when she isn't hungry and nappy just changed etc. The health visitor said the next thing to hit us is teething. We had a similar experience to you last night, we couldn't figure out what was wrong but I suspect it is her teeth starting to come through. We ended up giving her capol and this settled her, her cry was more of an in pain cry, and she just wants her dummy all the time. We were just getting into a routine and I think it's all about to go haywire πŸ™ƒ

KizboBaggins · 11/09/2022 13:26

@ChinChilly it was great until 30 seconds after I posted and DH came down with him cause he was hungry AGAIN πŸ™„

Yeah I'm def not paying for the app lol just wondered if they were legit things these leaps. We're 8 weeks on Tuesday which is supposed to be Leap 2 so I guess we'll see. We've also got his jabs next week 😬

My boy is beginning to get obsessed with his hands too! I let him chew away to a certain extent then replace with either boob or dummy

@ShellUK09 teething at 11 weeks?! 😳 I thought it didn't happen until like 6+ months? Hope your little girl is feeling better today!

ChinChilly · 11/09/2022 13:35

@ShellUK09 my LO is literally sucking and biting down on my finger, OHs mom asked if she was teething, I said if she pops out a tooth at 7/8 weeks I don’t wanna know πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ I get what you mean about the I’m in pain cry I’ve thought that about this one a couple of times over the last few days

@KizboBaggins I’m sure these babies know as soon as you sit down with a coffee or food πŸ˜‚ I’m not sure if there is anything in the leaps are legit but Amelia is also 8 weeks on Wednesday so we’ll see!

ShellUK09 · 11/09/2022 13:39

@KizboBaggins she seems a lot calmer today so maybe it's not teething just yet? I don't know when it starts typically, I've got a finger toothbrush that can be used from 0+ just in case! I know the teething gel the health visitor told me to get, is for 5 months plus. It was just the way she seemed to get relief when sucking hard on my finger which made me wonder, she has also wanted the dummy more... It could just be a comfort thing whilst having a growth spurt though. I feel like we have to guess a lot at this age!

ShellUK09 · 11/09/2022 13:41

@ChinChilly ah interesting that your little one is acting similar, I'm not looking forward to teething at all either! Yeah you can tell from their cry when it is something different. We had just been getting used to a happy smiley baby as well!

ChinChilly · 11/09/2022 14:01

@ShellUK09 she seems to be dribbling aswell but that might just be because she’s always wiggling her tongue around πŸ˜‚ teething definitely isn’t fun!
The smiles make it all worth it

missv556 · 12/09/2022 07:09

I also wondered if my little one is teething because he's been chewing/sucking on his fists and my finger if he gets hold of it and he's been dribbling a little too. Must just be a thing at this age. He's got his injections later this morning 😣 really not looking forward to it at all. Got calpol at the ready but fear today will be not so good

Lianna93 · 12/09/2022 07:49

My little one has also discovered her fits this week & is loving sucking on them. She'll scream if she pulls them away from her mouth then will quickly settle down once she finds them again.
It's not impossible that your babies could be teething but them chewing on their fist is a pretty important milestone. It's now them exploring their own bodies and they're getting to the stage where they're exploring the world around them - soon they'll be grabbing anything in sight & putting it straight into their mouths πŸ˜¬πŸ˜‚
My job today is to clear out my storage cupboard so I can pack up all my little ornaments & get them stored away before she starts rolling about & grabbing things πŸ™ˆπŸ˜‚
Same with the drooling & the tongues, this is them exploring & working on those face muscles 😁 I'm constantly wiping saliva off my little ones face because I don't want her to get sore around her mouth but she's very expressive with the tongue now, it's never away πŸ™ˆπŸ˜‚
Hopefully we've all got a while before we need to worry about teething 🀞🏻🀞🏻

Still waiting on that first smile though 😩 We've came so close but it's still not quite there yet.

@missv556 good luck! My LO is meant to have hers next Monday I’m guessing they will rearranged if the queens funeral is going to be a bank holiday.

@Lianna93 ahh that’s interesting about all the mouth action, relieved to know it’s unlikely teething I wasn’t up for that yet πŸ˜‚

I think this kid is luring me into a false sense of security, she slept through again last night 11-6:45 it’s lovely but I feel like it’s too good to be true πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

ShellUK09 · 12/09/2022 08:32

@ChinChilly wow what is your secret for sleep like that? We had an unsettled night last night where she kept waking up and squirming every couple of hours, needed comforting back to sleep, although she did go 6 hours between feeds which was good. Our sleep has generally been ok between 12-6 which is a lot better than the early days where I thought we'd be zombie like forever.

@Lianna93 ah that is good to know, I'm praying teething isn't just yet then! My mum worried me when she said some babies are born with teeth so teething can happen anytime. Ah it won't be long for smiles for you, it's a magical moment when you get that first big grin πŸ˜€

@missv556 good luck for today's injections. You could even give your little one capol half an hour before the appointment to lessen the blow. The nurse had asked at my appointment if we had already given her some capol, and I wish we had as I feel we let the effects from the injection set in too much before giving her the capol, even though we gave her it as soon as we got home.

ChinChilly · 12/09/2022 09:01

@ShellUK09 I think we’ve just been really lucky in that she’s been a good sleeper (so far) she’s only ever really got us up once a night in the early days apart from the odd bad night but that could all change so quickly with these babies so I’m not getting my hopes up she’ll always be like this lol.

missv556 · 12/09/2022 12:49

@ShellUK09 good call on giving the calpol before. I gave some and I think it really helped. He screamed for like 2 seconds then he was OK after a cuddle. I gave him a little feed then walked home so he slept a while. Time will tell if he's been affected by the fever
