@ChinChilly I just got him down by putting him in the sling and walking around. Guess I'm never sitting down again πŸ€·πŸ»β€β™€οΈ hope your LO settles soon.

I've had my mum here for 3 weeks and honestly idk how I'm gonna cope when she leaves. Fair play to those doing it alone already! DH has one week holiday then it's just me, LO and the labrador for the foreseeable 😬 dreading it

ChinChilly · 24/08/2022 14:24

@KizboBaggins at least he’s getting some sleep, I took Amelia out in the pushchair for 40 mins she just stared at the side of it the whole time playing with her tounge lol the minute I picked her up she fell asleep doubt it will be for long due a feed soon. Oh god my poor Labrador looks at me when she’s on one like please make it stop πŸ˜‚ my OH went back on Sunday two days have been fine the other two have been hard. My parents only live 5 mins away but they both work full time so not really around in the day

missv556 · 24/08/2022 17:37

@KizboBaggins I can't stand the noise of the crying, goes right through me and gives me a headache. I tend to just whack my boob out to silence him too. It's just much easier.
@ChinChilly yep my boy is 6 weeks so he's definitely going through the growth spurt. Had 2 horrendous days with him but he's been a bit better today, he's actually spending time asleep

ShellUK09 · 24/08/2022 18:25

Haha my miniature dachshund almost looks like he is rolling his eyes when our baby is crying her eyes out for a feed. His peace has been disrupted! We've just been for her 8 week injections this afternoon, it went well and she only cried a little bit in the room. I'm just worried for the night time! Was told to give her capol straight away and that we can can give her some more in 4-6 hours if needed.

KizboBaggins · 24/08/2022 18:27

@missv556 we just had our first episode of actual tears, cause DH dared to change his nappy before he had the boob! I felt awful lol

Does anyone else's LO seem to always sleep with their head the same way? I try to move his head but he definitely prefers it one way to the other. Starting to worry he's gonna get a flat side on his head lol but it looks fine for now

missv556 · 24/08/2022 18:39

@KizboBaggins yep I noticed some tears earlier 😒 it's sad isn't it? Yep my boy favours his left hand side, I wonder why they have a preference

ChinChilly · 25/08/2022 10:48

@ShellUK09 haha I’d love to know what the dogs are thinking! Hope you didn’t have a bad night after the injections.

@KizboBaggins I haven’t noticed LO having a side preference but I’ll keep an eye out today. We’ve have real tears this week aswell, made me feel really sad

NamelessBaby1 · 25/08/2022 10:48

Just feel the need to post in celebration of an actual proper night's sleep last night! Went down just before midnight, had a feed at 4.30 then up at 8! We're at just over 4 weeks old now, so it's been a bit of a slog, but oh my goodness it felt so good lol. Here's hoping it's not just a one off 🀣
@KizboBaggins yep definitely favours one side but I'm not too bothered, I'm sure it will all sort itself out eventually.

KizboBaggins · 25/08/2022 11:18

@NamelessBaby1 congratulations! I think my LO did one night when he was 4 weeks of 6hrs. It was bliss. We haven't managed to replicate it but I still think of it fondly πŸ˜‚

We had our first night of being fully awake at 3am last night 😴 he didn't cry though, he was just grunting so much and working on a massive poo! I took him downstairs so as not to wake DH and the dog was buzzing - he thought it was go time! Bless him.

@ShellUK09 how did the night go after the jabs? Hope she was ok!

strawberrysummer19 · 25/08/2022 11:19

Hi all

The gripe water hasn't really helped 😞bubs is very unsettled and quite sicky

So we have some gaviscon to try and DR has prescribed us some milk to try after a couple of days to see if Gaviscon works

She's clearly uncomfortable and it's so upsetting and draining! X

ChinChilly · 25/08/2022 13:22

@KizboBaggins my dog was the same at 5am this morning, labs have no chill πŸ˜‚ we had lots of grunting last night she wasn’t even awake but then I couldn’t sleep because she was being so noisy

@strawberrysummer19 sorry the gripe water didn’t work, we started using the co lactase yesterday and she’s been a lot better no wriggling and whining after her bottle and she’s been really chilled out

ShellUK09 · 25/08/2022 13:29

@ChinChilly our dog seems very protective of our baby. I would never leave them unsupervised together though as he likes to show his love through lots of licking and he can't go around licking our baby's face! I think he probably wonders how someone so small can have just an impact on our whole routine now! Thought it was going to be a terrible night but my partner stayed up with her until 3am and I got a few hours sleep. we had about 12 hours of being unsettled after the injections, she was really distraught a few hours after the injections. She is calm again today thankfully.

@NamelessBaby1 wow that's amazing, it's brilliant when that happens. I just wish it happened every night, maybe one day though 🀞

@KizboBaggins we thought it was going to be horrific as our baby was so upset and doing her 'in pain' cry for several hours after the jabs πŸ₯Ί She had capol as soon as we got home and another dose 4 hours later. She settled for the night at 3am although I got a few hours sleep as my partner stayed up with her, but she then woke up for a cuddle at 3:50am! Thankfully she was calmer after that and I caught up on a few hours this morning.

ChinChilly · 25/08/2022 19:17

@ShellUK09 I wouldn’t leave our dog alone either, luckily he’s one if those with fomo so he just follows us no matter where we go lol. He is soft as anything and I genuinely don’t think he’s got an aggressive bone in his body but I always say you can never 100% trust a dog so wouldn’t take the risk. I think he is probably thinking what is this noisy thing you’ve brought home which is stealing all my attention lol. Glad the injections didn’t upset baby for too long, mine has hers on the 19th..dreading it

CaptainCarp · 25/08/2022 19:53

@NamelessBaby1 wow I don't think we had nearly 5hrs at 4 weeks! After a 7hr stretch on Monday we've had 5 then 3 hrs the last 2 nights.
Had our jabs today though so expecting a rough night.

Lots of screaming when got jabbed, calmed down with cuddles though. Had calpol straightaway, but don't think she swallowed much of the 2nd dose.
Spent longer crying after DP took the plasters off! Wouldn't even go on the boob 😲 finally calmed down & fed to sleep. Hopefully will take in more of the next dose which she is due soon.

annie1994 · 25/08/2022 20:55

@KizboBaggins my eldest son always turned his head to the left and it got a little flat that side (not particularly noticeable). The HV did suggest turning him round in the next to me crib so I was on his right side instead and that did help a little bit as he turned a bit towards me.

George had his 8 week jabs last week and he was really unsettled and clingy for 2 or 3 days. At the same time my toddler had a bad fever/ virus and I was on my own. That was a really hard few days!!

ChinChilly · 26/08/2022 12:02

I feel like a new woman, LO slept from 10-4:30 then 5:30-8:00…totally a flukey one off…normal service will resume tonight πŸ˜‚

KizboBaggins · 26/08/2022 15:56

@ChinChilly same! DS properly screamed last night for the first time but he finally settled at 11 and slept until I woke him up at 5! Then he went back down til 8.

It was amazing, apart from my boobs were killing me and my bra and mattress were absolutely drenched 😬 I'm sure we'll be back to normal tonight though

@NamelessBaby1 finally cracked with the dummy last night - he sucked on it for 5 mins then was like 'nah that's not a boob' and spat it out πŸ™„

Is anyone pumping as well as bfing? I've just got a medela manual pump and trying to figure out when to start. If he only feeds off one side can I pump off the other?

NamelessBaby1 · 26/08/2022 17:12

@KizboBaggins I have a pump that I've been using since my milk came in to allow my husband to do one of the night feeds, I usually just do that after I've done a morning feed with baby. Lol at least you got 5 mins of peace I suppose, hopefully he takes to it better in future!

@ChinChilly even just one good night makes such a difference though! I was back to normal service last night after our great one the previous night lol, I might be looking back on that one fondly for a while 🀣

Coco9910 · 26/08/2022 17:21

@KizboBaggins my baby won’t really latch on one side so I’ve been pumping on my left side since day 5. The midwife said it was okay to do!

KizboBaggins · 26/08/2022 17:40

@NamelessBaby1 @Coco9910 thank you - DH is off work this week so hoping he can do a night feed or two but I feel like I'll have to wake up to pump anyway πŸ˜•

I've been worrying about creating over supply but he tends to only latch one boob per feed so I'll just pump the other one. I just tried it now and managed to get an ounce in 5 mins which I think is decent.

CaptainCarp · 26/08/2022 17:53

@ChinChilly it feels great doesn't it! Even if it's a one off hopefully it's a sign of things to come / she'll go slightly longer than she was previously.

Last night was hard after the 8 week jabs. Baby did get a fever & she apparently doesn't like calpol! Just lots of screaming & spitting it back out.
I didn't get to bed until almost midnight & she didn't go more than 2hrs 😴 until i gave up trying to get her to settle in the crib at 7:30 & came downstairs where she eventually slept on me.
Realised the 1 injection site was very red & tender which explained her screaming every time I moved her last night πŸ₯Ί

Think the fever has peaked & she's definitely cooler but still not 100% her usual self.
Just hoping for a bit more sleep tonight!

ShellUK09 · 26/08/2022 20:14

@ChinChilly oh my god it's amazing when you get a good night, the next day you feel almost superhuman. I massively didn't appreciate a full night's sleep before this! Even when I was pregnant I thought getting up in the middle of the night to go to the loo was tough but that was nothing 🀣 our baby slept a bit more last night too, I think she was catching up from lost sleep from the night of the jabs. Will pray for similar tonight!

@CaptainCarp sorry to hear your little one has had a tough time after the jabs. Our baby wasn't keen on the taste of capol either and she got little sleep the night of the jabs. Might be worth you trying a different version of capol if your baby really won't have it, like a supermarket own brand with a different flavour. Our baby has been catching up on sleep since her bad night after the jabs so we've had a calm night last night and day today, and praying for another calm night as we haven't had too many of those!

KizboBaggins · 26/08/2022 20:30

Anyone else start to panic when baby has been napping most of the afternoon and into the evening? It's lovely having some quiet time in front of the tele but I would prefer him to sleep tonight rather than now 😬

annie1994 · 26/08/2022 20:41

@KizboBaggins yes!! When my baby sleeps loads in the afternoon/ evening I get the nighttime dread 😬

SamanthaVimes · 26/08/2022 20:42

@KizboBaggins yep, he’s passed out on me now so I expect he’ll be up a lot in the night FML πŸ˜…
